Guesthouse vacation rentals in Monterey

Luna’s place is right on the 17 mile drive so very central to so many things in the area. 10 minutes from the aquarium, 5 minutes for Carmel By the Sea, 5 minutes from Monterey. 15 minutes to Los Lobos State Park and 10 minutes from Carmel River State Beach which we enjoyed greatly on our two night stay. The queen bed and the futon were very comfortable. Linens were clean and didn’t smell strongly of fabric softener which I greatly appreciate. The bathroom and shower were clean and everything worked. The kitchen is minimal, mini fridge, coffee maker is a French press not an automatic which I didn’t mind at all and brought ground coffee to enjoy each morning. There’s no stove, oven, or cook top so just make a note of that. We didn’t need to cook on our trip since there are great restaurants everywhere. One of the main roads of the 17 mile drive does go by the house so you’ll hear cars go by but it wasn’t disruptive to us. Definitely a bargain for the very nice area you’re staying in!

First impression- WOW! House is very spacious and clean. Stocked with every need. The house was very quiet inside. Owner (Gabriel) was very helpful with local recommendations and accommodating a special request. Gabriel was very responsive and stayed in communication with me when I had any questions leading up to the time of our stay. He was also very kind and accommodating to our needs. I highly recommend staying here. It’s a great location near to stores, restaurants and downtown. Definitely somewhere we will be coming back to.

Helaine’s place was perfect for our weekend trip. Clean, accessible, with an adorable patio. She was very communicative and would be happy to stay again.

This was perfect for us. Adorable apartment home with vintage charm. We had our own entrance and it felt private and protected. The house had all kinds noon extras like coffee, teas, and snacks as well as lots of games. It was close enough to walk to really good restaurants and all the fun but far enough away from the crowds, partiers, and noise of the boardwalk that we could rest peacefully. The whole house was clean, cozy, and comfortable. I would highly recommend.

Phillip and Lisa were by far the best Air BnB hosts we have ever had the pleasure to stay with. They provided a race day package upon learning that we were in town for the Big Sur Marathon that was both thoughtful and practical. Their space was exactly as advertised and the perfect place for a weekend getaway to Carmel. Philip and Lisa went out of their way to ensure our comfort while utilizing the Nestle Inn. We cannot recommend a stay with them highly enough!

We spent almost 3 weeks in this cozy and charming apartment. The location is perfect for experiencing all that Santa Cruz has to offer and we walked to the beach, wharf, and Boardwalk daily. Many coffee shops and restaurants are blocks away. Mike was extremely responsive and friendly, but not intrusive at all. We hope to stay here again.

My husband and I stayed at Tom's cabin for 1 night while driving from Santa Barbara to SF. The location really stands out - the cabin is tucked away in the trees just a 10 minute walk from Carmel town / 15 minute walk from Carmel beach, in a beautiful old neighborhood with lots of character. Helpfully, there is a guest parking spot as well. The cabin itself was old school in its feel but spic and span, with snacks and coffee provided - we loved the little balcony, though the weather was too cold to use it! While a bit pricey, the cabin is priced comparably to the converted motels in town and we liked the secluded setting better. It's Carmel so you have to spend a lot to get something that feels fancy, which we didn't need!

We loved Carla’s place. Very clean, great location. Walkable to downtown and the wharf.

The house is very cosy, welcoming, and clean. The host is very kind, and responsive. She responds to messages within minutes and is very flexible. We felt welcomed and supported. The kitchen is extremely well-equipped. I highly recommend this place for itself, and for the quality of communication with the host.

I had to stay for work, and the place really felt cozy. All amenities are available inside and it is very private. I had to make last minute changes and Josephine was kind enough to grant it. Will definitely recommend the place.

Very cozy for the three of us, was perfect after a long day at Big Sur. Even though it was chilly outside, the space heaters made it comfortable.

Super cute place! Our kids loved the ducks and horses across the street. They couldn’t wait to explore! The house is very well stocked- games, kids toys, cookware, laundry soap… everything you can think of! We had a really great time, and it’s such a unique place to get to stay!

First off I want to publicly say Thank Betsey for everything!! Great location, easy freeway access. Very close to downtown for restaurants and entertainment. For extended stays it is the best!!

Sara and her team are very friendly and easy to be around. I felt right at home and enjoyed my stay a lot. The place is very nice and peaceful, but at the same time within walking distance to basically everything in Santa Cruz. I would definitely come back to stay here again! :)

We will be returning for sure. Kimberly and the space could not have been better for our needs. We've been touring colleges with our daughter and for our UCSC round we found the location to be utterly peaceful and quiet and exactly as described and clean as a whistle. It's one block from one of the prettiest beaches and has a ton of food/amenities located nearby. Kimberly was highly communicative and offered lots of useful suggestions both for restaurants and things to do while in the area. If our child ends up at UCSC we will be benefit from this space regularly. Thanks for the wonderful offering and help, Kimberly.

Great place to unwind and unplug. Would definitely recommend to anyone that needs to decompress. The cabin was halfway between Carmel and Big Sur so it’s perfect

Staying at the Meadowhouse was a wonderful experience. Michael was a great host with lots of local recommendations and knowledge of the area. We stayed here for our Big Sur Elopement and was a great launch point for our adventures.The meadow was in full bloom and was absolutely stunning. I would highly recommend the Meadowhouse.

This house is located just perfectly, really private area, but still close to basically everything you want to visit. The views down the valley were amazing. The house was very clean and equipped with everything we needed.

This was such a great rental! Everything was perfect. Host VERY helpful and communicative. Beds were AMAZING! Linen was awesome. Everything was spotless. Quiet at night, even though the house is close to great food, ice cream and coffee. I would absolutely stay here again and I highly recommend this place. Perfect for 2 couples or 2 couples with a child or a family of four. One of the best places for it's size in the area. And one of the best hosts as well.

This was my first time staying in the Highlands and I could not have been happier with Jonathan’s guest house. It was a luxurious retreat high above the tree tops with incredible ocean and mountain views. I melted into the sectional couch and watched the sky show of hawks, jays and drifting clouds. Everything I needed was there, including a very comfortable bed and top notch cooking supplies. The house was clean and furnishings were thoughtfully arranged and beautiful, just enough to feel warm and inviting but not cluttered. The location was perfect and I looked forward to returning home from every excursion, just to sit on the deck and experience the peaceful surroundings. Thank you, Jonathan, for sharing your delightful guest house!

Very very private, quiet place nested in the woods. It smelled really good. It’s a lot bigger than the pictures and a lot more beautiful than we imagined. You can open the door and see the red woods right in front of you. The place was also very clean and organized, beautifully decorated. It was cold but the fireplace heated up the studio very quickly. We did not pack a lot of stuff because Zohar provided most of it (soap, shampoo, hairdryer, washer and dryer). The shower heated up quickly and the water pressure was strong, and we really enjoyed the hot shower after a long day out. It basically had the amenities of modern living while being in the middle of nature. It’s a very calming and relaxing place, if we didn’t have so much stuff to do we would have hung out on the deck all day. Steep driveway but it’s not that bad, just drive slowly and you’ll get used to it.

This place was so adorable. Such a cute little cottage in beautiful surroundings. My daughter especially loved the bed in the loft. The host was accommodating and gave us all the privacy we desired. The house was fully functioning and as described. We would definitely book this place again.

This is such a gem! This little duplex was so cute and perfect for our stay in Santa Cruz. The pictures don’t do it justice! Kathleen was a fantastic host. She was great with communication and checked in with us throughout our stay. The location is unbeatable, 20 minute walk to the boardwalk, 10 minute walk to the beach and 1 minute walk to Verve coffee! I highly recommend Kathleen’s spot to anyone!
