Acton Castle

MichaelRating, 5 stars93 months ago
Due to the fantastic photos on Airbnb our expectations were already high, but reality by far exceeded all our expectations. We really spent a perfect week in the wonderful Garden Apartment in Acton Castle. Maybe the most impressive is the incredible view over the bay of Penzance with the spectacular St. Michael's Mount as its central point. You can enjoy this fantastic view from the living room, from the breakfast table or even when doing the dishes in the kitchen. Another highlight is the garden which is really beautiful with a nice pond, wonderful plants and flowers and many great places to sit and enjoy the view. Also the 18th century Acton Castle is a very beautiful and really impressive building. The apartment is ideal for a family like ours with 2 children. The main sleeping room has its own bathroom with toilet and shower. The main bathroom has a bathing tub with shower and another toilet. The appartment has two floors. Sleeping rooms and bathrooms are in the basement, while living room and kitchen are in the first floor with its incredible view. The appartment offers a lot of space for a family of four and we weren't missing anything. You reach the costal path within two minutes from the garden. We did a very nice walk to St. Michael's Mount. Acton Castle is also a good starting point for many activities in the area. You can easily reach Penzance, St. Ives, the Lizard Peninsula and many, many more great places by car. There are several big supermarkets in the direction towards Penzance which you can reach within 10 minutes by car. Garden Apartment in Acton Castle is a really perfect place to spend a perfect holiday and we definitely give a 5 star recommendation. Thanks to Tim for giving us the possibility to enjoy this great place and the area around it.

Château Le Mont Epinguet 7 bedrooms Sleeps 15

SophieRating, 5 stars23 months ago
Our stay at Chateau Le Mont Epinguet surpassed all of our expectations-- it's truly beautiful and Fiona and Mark are beyond friendly. We went as a group of 18 and still found the house incredibly spacious-- you'll never be on top of one another! The gardens outside are lovely and provide lots of spots for sunbathing/reading (and so spacious we even got in a game of rounders). The kitchen has as much crockery as you might ever desire; there are several excellent and large supermarkets within a 15 minute drive (better quality produce and more economical than any British supermarket). Above all-- I cannot express the warmth and kindness of Mark and Fiona-- they're exceptional hosts who attended to any queries we had and provided a wealth of excellent beach & restaurant recommendations. A beautiful chateau, a wonderful (eccentric) interior, with lovely gardens (esp. the palm trees), and great for friends who wish to spend some time stuck together.

Lady Jane Grey, Sudeley Castle, Cotswolds

PaulRating, 5 stars1 month ago
It was so quiet! The cottage was lovely and well provisioned. Despite being cold outside the cottage stayed warm at all times. It's a short walk to the centre of the lovely Cotswold town of Winchcombe which has plenty of good eateries and drinking places. We had a great weekend and we're glad we chose this cottage to stay in.

Oliver Cromwell, Sudeley Castle, Cotswolds

BrittRating, 5 stars2 months ago
We stayed as a small adult family of three and couldn't have loved the Oliver Cromwell apartment more. It felt homely and inviting, and in such beautiful surroundings. Loved the Christmas tree with lights in our living room - it was a beautifully festive touch! Parking is easy, and it is a very short and easy stroll into the centre of Winchcombe. The amenities in our apartment were fantastic, which made self-catering for some meals, so easy. We enjoyed drinks and meals at both the White Hart, and the Corner Cupboard, but have to say the hospitality and quality of food served at the Corner Cupboard was an absolute winner! Being January, we couldn't enjoy the complimentary access to Sudeley Castle, but we did manage to walk the park trails surrounding it, which were absolutely beautiful. Thank you for a memorable stay!

Princess Elizabeth, Sudeley Castle, Cotswolds

PatriciaRating, 5 stars22 months ago
Well placed, 5 minutes walk to Sudeley Castle and just off the main street through Winchcombe. Unlimited access to the castle was a bonus. Both Winchcombe and Sudeley Castle are well worth a visit. Many walks from your doorstep so you don't need to use your car. Cafes, restaurants, pubs and takeaways available in the town. Accommodation very clean, and well equipped. Bolthole Retreats were very helpful when I had a query. Safe and roomy parking. Can highly recommend.

Castle Thornhill Suite. Wilton Castle, Ireland.

BrandonRating, 5 stars10 months ago
Did 2 nights here for a castle stay weekend for 1 year anniversary. Visited Kilkenny, Kinsale, Cork. I recommend starting in Kinsale and working your way back as the Airbnb is a bit far from the western towns. That being said it was helpful to be closer to Dublin for return. Wonderful stay with friends and people. A little remote if you are hoping to hop to a town and back to Airbnb that would be difficult here. Thank you for having us!

Castle East, Orchardleigh Estate

DanielRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Initially we had booked this place for 12 people, but only 10 of us came. I felt 10 guests is the comfortable maximum amount of people this place suits, however if you bring your own blow up mattress you can work around this. The surrounding area is beautiful, the hot tub is amazing (it has built-in speakers!) and the beds are comfortable. With a nice size kitchen you can cook large meals for everyone, and the sitting room is big enough to accommodate everyone provided you move some chairs around. I would add bring your own cooking condiments such as salt, pepper, oil etc as there weren’t any provided. Lastly, this was a slight issue for us, we couldn’t find a washing machine to wash our towels. There is a tumble dryer in the pantry and if needed the owners can bring your fresh towels, but if you have anything to wash yourself you might have to settle for the bath tub.

Stunning Cottage, next to a castle, Carne, Wexford

ReinoehlRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
The Rose cottage was really my first experience with an Air B&B anywhere let alone Ireland, so I was guarded in my expectations. The cottage was superlative in almost every regard. Great kitchen, bedrooms are private and well-appointed and separate baths for myself and my son. And as I am finding in my travels through Ireland, the internet service was reliable and robust. Richard is an amiable and gregarious host that provided me with invaluable guidance and insights to the local area as I am looking for a house to buy here. He is the Sherpa guide to that area of the country. Staying here gave me a sense of the deep history associated with the location from the 600 year old castle to which the cottage attached even to the Game of Throne decorative swords on the walls. The neighbors that also reside there are friendly and outgoing and will engage in spirited conversations over a cup of tea. The only downside comment I could offer is that the sheep seemed a little nervous

Annexe retreat. From 4 nights.

KarenRating, 5 stars12 months ago
What a fabulous hideaway - the Annexe felt like such a find! It was perfect for my quiet getaway. The accommodation is simply gorgeous - with its fabulous decor, it was so clean & tidy with plenty of extra touches to make my stay just wonderful. A fabulous, large & comfortable bed and big, fluffy towels added to the feeling of luxury. The location is amazing - private & peaceful, yet still close enough to local amenities, just a short walk away. All communication was dealt with so promptly; the host was so well informed & able to answer all my queries. I'll definitely be choosing to stay here again - highly recommended!

Castle Gatehouse, Tower at Sudeley Castle

MikeRating, 5 stars7 months ago
Great location and such a cool experience staying in the gatehouse. Will definitely come back. If you have young kids the sleeping arrangements require some compromise but we made it work. The interior could do with a touch up, it was looking a little tired but that’s me being picky. Great place to stay and free entry to the castle is well worth it

Beautiful castle in Normandy - Close to the sea

CamillaRating, 5 stars26 months ago
We had a wonderful stay at the Chateau to celebrate the New Year. You really have to see it to believe how charming this Chateau is - our children wanted to stay there forever! It’s totally unique and a truly great experience. Nina and her Father were the perfect hosts - helpful with all of our questions and providing great recommendations for what to see and do in the area. We wish we could have had more time there!

3 bedroom home in unique Grade I listed fort.

JoannaRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
We had a fantastic stay in this wonderfully converted home. It was clean, tidy and comfortable and Clare was very responsive to our queries. The house is ideally located for exploring the island and we really enjoyed staying in a bit of its history. I would thoroughly recommend this venue if you’re looking for something a bit different and special.
