Family-friendly vacation rentals in Sonoma County

A fabulous stay in Sonoma/ Napa area for long weekend with family. Incredible home! Close to adorable shops and great restaurants and only 30 minutes from downtown Napa. Owner very communicative always makes any guest feel special. Would highly recommend.

Rebecca was an excellent host. Her place was even nicer than the listing: Amazing views, comfy beds, awesome access to trails for hiking and delicious restaurants if you don't feel like cooking.

Photos did not do this place justice. The deck was such a nice surprise with so many small moments & touches tucked away to discover. As for the place itself, pitch perfect for a family and absolutely the most fully stocked kitchen I've ever encountered in an airbnb rental. I had absolutely zero reason to interact with the host because their directions were so clear, helpful, and concise! After experiencing a string of extremely disappointing rentals, this location was a perfect reminder of airbnb at it's best. Will definitely put this on the short list for return visits!

We had an excellent stay. All the amenities one could want: hot tub, full kitchen, grill, patio table, walking distance to town. Everything was in working order! Only 2 things to note: close to main road though gets quiet at night; and in the redwoods so darker than expected inside but fine with lights on and window shades open.

The view looking out into the woods and river from the living room is absolutely breathtaking. We stayed in late April and it was a bit rainy so it wasn’t feasible to enjoy the river, but the location more than made up for it. The proximity to Armstrong Redwoods, Jenner, and several charming nearby towns made for a perfect mix of hiking, beach walks, and exploring local spots.

It's a nice place with super comfy beds and fancy bathrooms, as everyone says! Unfortunately the living/dining spaces and furniture are much less comfortable, the layout isn't the most conducive to spending time together, and the kitchen was missing some key items. To her credit, Hila was very responsive and even overnighted a box of missing supplies, and offered to fix issues quickly. But a lot of things weren't there as we needed them: a kettle, oven mitts, foil, the salt was almost out, only canola no olive oil, etc. While there were a lot of nice touches around the house, there were just as many small annoyances that felt like they wouldn't be tolerated if someone lived there. If you plan to spend most of the day out and just come back to sleep, wash up, and hot tub, this is perfect. If you want to cook and be cozy/comfy together, maybe not ideal? My little family was in desperate need of a getaway and some quality family time. Jeannette's house was just what we needed. It was a cold and wet weekend in Rio Nido, but that was fine by us. The surrounding area is so beautiful and peaceful, and we had the most lovely dog walks exploring the area. The home itself was incredibly comfortable and cozy and had everything we needed. The heated blankets were a nice touch! We made excellent use of the hot tub, and spied some cool wildlife from our very comfortable position in the jacuzzi. My daughter was very excited for the hot cocoa K-cup pods and I certainly appreciated the coffee options. The neighborhood was very quiet (I'm guessing because we were there in Feb. and not the more popular summer season). Having the Roadhouse so close was convenient, but we mostly did our own cooking. Friendly heads up that the smoke detectors are very sensitive (a good thing!) so turn on fan and open windows before cooking on the stove! :)

Denise is a fantastic host. Not only is the place gorgeous and accessible, but the amenities are top notch. She's very responsive and accommodating to any of our requests. We celebrated our one year anniversary here after having a great time last year and this could very well be an annual thing, it's very special to us. Hands down, must stay. Absolutely stunning view and very private location. Plenty of room for our group and we especially appreciated the dog run off the master bedroom for convenience for our pup. The house has everything you need and the upstairs living areas are a bit more updated. Very comfortable to hang out and just enjoy the sunrises and sunsets. The deck was perfect. Host was very responsive and helpful before and during our stay.

What a wonderful home. Some descriptions say "5 min from this or that" but this really is a very short drive to grocery stores, restaurants and the Healdsburg town square. BUT at the same time extremely quiet and serene. Everything is very cozy, the decor is peaceful, the kitchen very well appointed, bathrooms, water everything is clean and easy to use. Owners were very responsive to a very minor issue that was cleared up very quickly - good to know they are _right_ there if needed. Although there is a busy road you don't hear it because of the wonderful landscaping and waking up to a vineyard every morning? That was just fantastic. Overall we had a great stay and would definitely come back!

We stayed at Erin's wine country cottage for a few days as our "home base" while in town for the Food & Wine Event. Their studio unit cottage was cozy, and welcoming. We ate out and didn't use kitchenette beyond making coffee, but I noticed that it looked well stocked! The bed was comfy, which made for good sleep at night. The cottage location is great as it's close to the freeway yet still in a quiet, rural setting next to a vineyard, and just about a mile or so from downtown (we walked to town every day). Erin (& Tom) are both exceptional hosts. They're friendly, helpful, and have great recommendations for restaurants & wineries. Can't forget Hurley the lab... he's super friendly too!

Unique and cozy cabin with unbeatable views. I loved sitting at the table in the sunroom every morning with my coffee and just watching the waves crash in. Super close to Gualala, which has restaurants, supermarkets, gas, and all that good stuff.

Loved staying at Lorri & Cookies' lovely home! It was so clean and well kept inside. They welcomed us with freshly baked cookies, wine, and lovely notes. Truly a hidden gem! We'd 100% stay again. Only note - the sun room gets a bit cold! So just be sure to use the extra covers that Lorri / Cookie provide :)

Price was great even though there was a festival driving prices. The house is beautiful with loads of extra details. We love that. Allen kept us up to date on some WiFi repairsthat were done quickly and did not affect our stay at all. I’d definitely stay here again.

Fantastic stay! Rooms were spacious and clean. Hot tub was hot and clean. Would stay again should that opportunity arise.

This was a perfect getaway, located close to Sonoma plaza and an easy drive to Napa. Way better than staying at a hotel, especially with a little one. Beautiful home and amazing outdoor area and pool!

I almost don't want to tell you how good this place is, so we can rent it again sometime. :-) But it's that good. We visited over spring break with our daughters, eight and 11, and had one of the most amazing stays we've ever had at an Airbnb. The home, the land, the pool, and the local area are all 100% amazing. And the sunsets. You know how you sometimes stay at Airbnb's where you feel like the hosts did the bare minimum to qualify to list it? This is *not* that place. There is everything you need and more. Very comfortable house . This is our second time staying there and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay that’s close to town but very peaceful and relaxing. Would highly recommend!!!

10/10 I stayed here with my girlfriend and my dog and it was really peaceful and had a great time,the pool and jacuzzi was amazing and the house was really clean🙌🏽😄

The home was perfect for our friend group of 7 people. We enjoyed the pool greatly during the October heatwave. We enjoyed the kitchen as we made a few meals at the house and it had everything we needed. Jerry was quick to respond if we had any questions at all although there were rarely any questions since he did such a great job checking us in and showing us around. Would definitely recommend for a family or friend trip. And I would absolutely stay again!

Great find in Sonoma! Well located with easy walks but in a peaceful neighborhood. Plenty of space for our four women on a girls’ trip!
