Situated alongside the Mississippi River, wildlife abounds in every season. With eagles nesting nearby, there is always something new to see from the beautiful sunrises, cruise ships passing by, and watching the commerce of the barges and railroad right out the front window! We stayed at James’ place for our 25th anniversary and I’m so glad we did. We were hoping for peace, nature, hiking and to be able to include our dogs. The location was perfect - so secluded, yet not far from hiking, restaurants, etc. The cabin was clean and well-appointed, having everything we needed, plus extra items in case you’d forgotten something. I appreciated the easy-going communication and would love to stay again if we get the chance!

This place was great, about 10-15 mins from downtown galena, with a nice scenic drive to take up the time with beautiful hills and pastures. Quiet neighborhood. Mattress could be less firm or covered with a soft mattress topper, but that’s just preference. The place was very clean and well maintained. Angie was informative. Would stay again, for sure!

Field of Dreams teams… this is THE house! We chose this listing for proximity to our baseball tournament and it was literally less than 5 minutes from the fields. The batting cage and open lawn space are perfect for kids to let off steam, it also comes well stocked with toys, board games, indoor darts, pool table supplies etc. the outdoor patios were adorable- with extra chairs, wood stocked for fire pit, as well as extra folding tables/chairs indoors. The cleanliness of the home was unmatched- linens, pillows, countertops & floors sparkled! The organization from Check in to check out made everything a breeze. Items within the house were labeled clearly, making towels, hairdryers, first aid and laundry easy to identify. The house was perfect for our group of 13, with plenty of space to add even more guests if needed. Shelli was quick to respond, reaching out to let us know early check in was available and offering local suggestions. We truly enjoyed our stay and were blown away!

The Driftless Escape! Modern, large cabin/57 acres

My family and I stayed at the Driftless Escape Cabin and had a wonderful time! The interior was even more beautiful in person with plenty of space for my whole family. The Kitchen was well stocked, the beds were very comfy and they had everything you needed. The property was gorgeous with lots of open space and amazing views. We loved playing in the yard and s’mores by the fire. And even though the cabin is close to town, we still felt like we were miles away in nature and truly disconnected!!
