La Corte Del Gallo (MXP) - Superior Apartment

EddieRating, 5 stars4 months ago
Stayed here for 4 nights while visiting a friend and doing business. Tha apartment had everything you could want or need for a long extended stay if needed. Plenty of space, gated complex, and the breakfast kit every morning is a nice touch! Trains run past the complex til about 11pm, but this was no bother for me, and they go fast, so I doubt it would bother most visitors! 5 stars all around, will stay here again when I come back in June ❤️

Gaia Apartment No. 3

CindyRating, 5 stars6 months ago
The apartment offers good space for a family (2 adults/2 children), is practically furnished (for simple cooking, built-in boxes, board games), is clean and in a good location in Ascona. The hosts were straightforward. Check-in/out were flexible by arrangement and were very accommodating to us. A fine bakery is right across the street from the apartment and the restaurant diagonally vis-à-vis is also highly recommended! Thanks again

At Betty's in the village

SabineRating, 5 stars6 months ago
The accommodation at Betty's is very special. The studio is tastefully and practically furnished, everything is right down to the last detail. We enjoyed the large courtyard with the beautiful covered seating. The special thing is that the accommodation is located in a historic building in a magical place. In Maggiana, time seems to stand still. It's peaceful and magical. The Osteria next door is great. We also highly recommend the hiking trails that start in Maggiana. Communication with Betty was great. She even invited us to dinner and drinks and food were waiting for us in the kitchen on arrival. We would love to come back and say thank you to Betty and Dario.

Come stay in our "Little Nest"!

Jean-ClaudeRating, 5 stars7 months ago
since we were already here last year, of course we already knew everything. For us, the few days were very relaxing again and we would come back anytime. the apartment is spread over 3 floors but that did not bother us. also that no TV is available, we can only see as an advantage. Sometimes away from everyday life and all the luxury stuff. There are plenty of other possibilities in Ticino. That's luxury enough. Thank you, gladly again.

Elegant villa, lake view

RenataRating, 5 stars6 months ago
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed Marina’s beautiful old house. It has tons of old-world character; it has a gorgeous view; it’s totally private; and it’s very spacious. We were six couples and there was still room to spare. The house is 20 minutes walk from town but we had cars and drove. Marina’s brother and niece met us for check in and were extremely helpful and gracious. As we arrived after dark, they kindly left provisions for a simple dinner, which was highly appreciated.

Everything about this stay was more then perfect, the view was incredible and worth staying here for this alone! having both parking spots was handy, bed was incredibly comfortable, one of the best showers I’ve used, communication and recommendations are the best we’ve ever experienced from a host, they made a great trip even better, The walk into the town is fine, very scenic and chose to do it on a couple of occasions. Couldn’t recommend this place and host enough, already looking trying to stay here again.

A small, fine house located a little off the beaten track, nestled in beautiful nature. We enjoyed the location on the other side of the small stream as well as the wood-burning fireplace very much. Naomi was accessible throughout and very proactive in her communication. We enjoyed it very much, even though the weather was unfortunately not so great. Highly recommended!

FamilyHaven: lakefront, stunning view great place!

An Unforgettable Stay at Lake Como – Perfect for Families! We had the most wonderful experience staying at this Airbnb in Lake Como! The location was absolutely perfect – everything we needed was nearby, yet it still felt peaceful and secluded. And the view? Simply breathtaking! Waking up to those stunning lake and mountain vistas every morning was an unforgettable treat. The apartment itself was superb in every way. Spread across three spacious stories, it gave our family plenty of room to relax and enjoy ourselves. Everything was spotlessly clean, and the comfort levels were top-notch, making it feel like a home away from home. The host was fantastic, with clear and fluid communication throughout our stay. Any questions or needs we had were promptly addressed, which made the experience even more stress-free. I would definitely recommend this Airbnb, especially to families with kids. With so much space and such a convenient

Casa Vacanza Castagna

SepehrRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We had the pleasure of staying at Cinzia’s place for one night, and we truly enjoyed our stay. The check-in was smooth and Cinzia was always responsive. She was very friendly and had already put some delicious fruits and eggs from her garden for us. The place was cozy, clean, and had almost everything you needed for a comfortable stay. The view from the bedroom was beautiful, especially with no mist on the lake. There was a supermarket and a bar nearby if you needed anything. Since Nesso has plenty of stairs because of the topography, I suggest not going with heavy baggage or suitcases. Ponte della Civera is a must-visit if you have the time. If you don’t have a car, you can use bus C30 from Como, I suggest you check the timetable on the app and buy your tickets in advance; it can get quite crowded. Overall, we had a great time and will definitely book again.

Porta Rossa: The cozy retreat

RosalieRating, 5 stars7 months ago
If you walk to Porta Rossa, it's like going into a little fairytale world. Resiga is small and homely, with many alleys, plants, and no matter where you look, you discover something new on every corner. The apartment is located in a very old house and lovingly furnished, a highlight is the romantic courtyard. There is plenty of parking either directly on the lake or slightly up the mountain (each about a 3-minute walk incl. Stairs). The location is very quiet, the equipment perfectly sufficient and the bed very comfortable. There were even heatable in the beds for the cold autumn nights. You can quickly reach the region around Intra by car from where many ferry connections leave, a pizzeria is within walking distance. Birgit was always accommodating and easily accessible. We were very happy to immerse ourselves in the fairytale world of Resiga and highly recommend it to everyone! :)

The home was as described, very well kept and clean. We loved watching the ducks and the amazing sun rises. We will definitely be back in the summer to take a dip in the lake.

Ester's House, Lenno. LAKE COMO, Italy

StephenRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
This apartment is in a perfect location for a mid-lake visit to Lago di Como. It’s a few steps from the Lenno ferry stop, an easy boat ride and walk to Villa Carlotta and Villa del Balbaniello, respectively, and is situated right at the waters edge with jaw-dropping views of the lake and mountains from the living room, primary bedroom, and one bathroom. The hosts were very responsive and helpful. We were met at the ferry and they were very flexible about a late check out. The maps and ferry schedule provided were helpful as well. The apartment is absolutely stunning. High ceilings, big windows, and elegant and sophisticated interior design. The beds were comfy and the bathrooms were great. We appreciated many of the design choices, like the hideaway coffee machine and art complementing the furnishings. Lenno was quiet during our April stay and I imagine the experience could be different during high season. Regardless, we hope we can visit again. This is a very special place.

Your guide to Lake Como

Welcome to Lake Como

Take one look at Lake Como, and it’s difficult not to fall in love. Though it’s only the third largest of the Italian lakes, there’s a special kind of magic on its Y-shaped waters, one mixing a celebrity-approved landscape with natural charm. Located in the Lombardy region near the Swiss border, the three 16-mile arms of the lake are lined with waterfront towns and neoclassical villas, while the waters lure visitors to enjoy activities such as sailing, swimming, rowing, windsurfing, fishing, and diving.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Lake Como

There’s no better time of year to stay in one of Lake Como’s villas than in the summer, when both the water and land temperatures are at their highest. While the weather can also be humid (especially in July and August), that doesn’t seem to stop the crowds, making it also the busiest travel period. Many also opt for the shoulder months of May and June or September and October, when days are still pleasant, making these times fairly busy as well. The Lake Como International Music Festival, with live orchestral and chamber music played in villas and gardens, draws visitors during these popular travel months. Winters can have quite a bite, with low temperatures around the freezing mark in December and January, but it’s also time for celebration with the Città dei Balocchi (City of Toys) holiday festivities.

Top things to do in Lake Como

Bellagio

Bellagio sits at the triangular tip of Lake Como’s two southern arms and comprises all the charms of an Italian lakeside village. Here you’ll see stone staircases lined with boutiques and cafes, gardens and groves bursting with colorful blooms, and a charming waterfront fit for a postcard.

Villa del Balbianello

As proof of just how idyllic this 18th-century mansion perched on a promontory is, it often doubles as a Hollywood film set and a celebrity wedding venue. Guided tours of the villa show a glimpse into the eclectic life of its last owner, Count Guido Monzino, who led Italy’s first Mount Everest expedition.

Museum and Gardens at Villa Carlotta

While the opulence of the 17th-century villa impresses with its decorative rooms and art collection, it’s no match for the calm elegance of its botanical gardens, dotted with azaleas and rhododendrons, overlooking the waters in Tremezzo.
