Great stay for a weekend away with friends! We had some trouble getting in using the door code initially but the host was very responsive and we worked it out. The kitchen is huge and it was great that every bedroom has a private bathroom.

Our stay for a last-minute golf trip worked out perfectly. Hazel was very kind and the place was easy to access. All courses and Casino were within 15 min radius of the place. Was slightly difficult to find an uber/lyft but we managed. Thank you!

Crystal's place was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. Crystal sent us all the information we needed for check in and responded to any messages very quickly. The house is very nice and lots of room. It had a lot of restaurants nearby and was a great place to stay to visit the Indiana Dunes. Would definitely stay again!

Had a wonderful time staying at Dunetop Escape! The owners were very nice and responsive. Very knowledgeable about the area and made some awesome recommendations. The house was spotless and very accommodating. The house has a lot of usable space and even more sleeping areas! Loved that they made beach days so easy as they had everything you may ever need. Will absolutely be looking to book this location again and look forward to exploring more of Michigan City.

Ohio River Retreat (Relax Riverside With Us)

Dee DeeRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Comfortable home with floor to ceiling windows with breathtaking views of the Ohio River. This secluded home and outdoor deck helped us relax immediately!! Shane/Leigh Ann helped when we had questions; and communication was great. We were allowed to bring our little Cavachon dog and he was as relaxed as we were. This is the second home we have rented with Shane. Going back to this home in September and we’ll make reservations for next Spring. Thank You, Shane!! It was hard to leave the Ohio River Retreat (ORR)! Dee Dee Metter

D & J Lakefront Rental

LisaRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
This was our 2nd stay as a family of 4 at Jean’s place. Planning a 3rd trip for next summer. None of us wanted to leave. Jean should get 100āļø for value. The kids absolutely LOVE the paddle boat. We paddled the entire lake multiple times! Regarding the area; we went on several bike rides around the neighborhood. Nice & flat, easy for the kids. This time we did adventure out to the town the Albion, about 20 min drive away. The park they have there is great. Playground, splash pad, walking trail & skate park. We also ventured to Fort Wayne zoo, 40 min. Drive. Well worth it if you have kids. They offer several rides in addition to the zoo.

School Days

SusanRating, 5 stars5 days ago
What a restful time away for a personal retreat! Melinda was extremely friendly and accessible throughout and gave me the wonderful recommendation of Osgood Walking Trails, a very short and sweet country drive away. The history of the building and the immaculate and tasteful way it has been decorated was a lovely setting for quiet reflection. I drove away knowing I was truly blessed for the days I enjoyed in the stone school house! Highly recommend!

Cozy Pool House in the Country on 25 acres

AjaRating, 5 stars4 weeks ago
This was a halfway point for my sister and I to get together for her birthday. It was a nice, relaxing weekend, which is what we were looking for. Our dogs were welcome, which is always a plus! My kid invited herself on the trip, and our host didn't bat an eye when my kid asked to play with her own. The house was also beautiful and comfortable.

Isaak's Hideaway - "Newly Remodeled"

SusanRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We love this area from the river views to the absolute peacefulness of Magnet. The cabin is very nice, clean, with a well stocked kitchen. The desk is amazing! Our first morning we were joined by a young eagle for breakfast. He sat in one of the trees in front of the deck surveying the river with an occasional glance back at us. That may have been our favorite thing we did.

The Little House at Tryon Farm

TammyRating, 5 stars1 week ago
My family (8 yo daughter and husband) and I stayed at this property for a family staycation. We chose this place for the great reviews and location: close to the Dunes and easy access by rail to Chicago. This was an exceptional stay! Jason and Ana were amazing hosts. They were accommodating and communicated expectations and information in advance. The property was gorgeous and had everything we needed and more. Beds were comfortable, the kitchen was pristine, and we had great amenities. My daughter even got to read some favorite books and graphic novels! We are picky travelers, and Jason and Ana did not disappoint. I hope we can stay here again soon. We highly, highly recommend the property.

Sue's Place

MaryRating, 5 stars3 days ago
Sue was so gracious to allow us a last minute Thursday night stay… with very short notice… and what I thought was going to be an 8:30 p.m. arrival time according to our navigation system… actually turned into a 10:15 p.m. arrival… navigation systems don’t allow for bathroom/gas stops or road construction šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«šŸ˜µā€šŸ’« or crossing time zones šŸ˜†šŸ˜†šŸ˜†. Her place was stocked with everything we needed that we didn’t know we needed… like a frozen pizza… Score for us!!! Thank You So Much Sue… you were our Angel on our way to Brooklyn, Michigan for the NASCAR races!!! A shout out to our son Matt who is on the pit crew for the #35 and is turning 33 on the day of the race… Sunday the 8th of June!!! Happy Birthday Bubs🄳🄳🄳

Castaway Lake Side Canvas Cottage Tent

LisaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
This was our first stay. The place happened to be completely empty except us. This was just what we needed. The cabin and surrounding areas were so well maintained. We took out kayaks and rented the jon boat. We will be planning a return trip. It was so wonderful and a completely hidden gem.

Your guide to Indiana

All About Indiana

Although best known for its agriculture, the state of Indiana is home to high-profile sporting events, cultural attractions, and some of the most beautiful national parks in the Midwest. With its flat, fertile plains, northern Indiana is widely recognized for its iconic cornfields. However, the farmland is not what draws outdoor enthusiasts here. Spread across the state, you’ll find an array of lakes, forests, and nature reserves with hiking and biking trails, giant waterfalls, and plenty of spots where you can park a boat and spend the day fishing. From the sand dunes near Lake Michigan to the deep canyons and sandstone cliffs in Turkey Run State Park, Indiana has plenty of natural attractions to explore.

Indiana’s cities exert their charms on visitors as well, whether you’re in the densely urban corridor that stretches along the northern edge of the state or ambling from small town to village amid the rustic rolling hills of the south. In the middle of it all, Indianapolis, the capital city, has become a Midwestern cultural powerhouse, drawing people for its museums (the Indianapolis Museum of Art, the Children’s Museum), musical performances, and vibrant restaurant scene.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Indiana

The best time to visit the state of Indiana may be the fall. This is when the weather is mild and dry, the skies are typically clear, and the temperature is brisk yet ideal for enjoying the outdoors. Leaf-peepers from major cities come to Indiana to drive through the stunning foliage at this time. Summer is another popular time to visit, particularly if you’re headed for lakes and rivers, although outdoor activities can be interrupted by more frequent showers and high humidity.

Winter can get quite cold and snowy in Indiana. Temperatures vary considerably between the north and south of the state, and snow falls reliably in the northern areas, with cold winds blowing east from the Great Lakes. This is an ideal time for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Spring can bring quite unpredictable weather, including storms and strong winds, but it’s also a perfect time to spot new growth in the trees and new wildlife in the state’s parks and forests.

Top things to do in Indiana

Mass Ave.

Indiana’s capital city, Indianapolis, has a fast-growing artistic scene, which is on display at its cultural center, located at Massachusetts Avenue, or ā€œMass Ave.ā€ Here you’ll find some incredible street art, community art projects, huge murals on the sides of buildings, and live music. At certain times of the year, Mass Ave. also hosts a series of festivals that are well-worth a visit.

Brown County State Park

The state’s most picturesque park, located one hour south of Indianapolis, was formed by the retreating glaciers as the Ice Age ended, and the meltwaters molded the landscape into hills and valleys now covered in old-growth forest. Plenty of hiking and biking trails snake through the 16,000-acre park, and if you’d like to view the tree canopy from on high, you can climb up the 90-foot Fire Tower. Near the park, you’ll find the old artist colony of Nashville, still a destination for art lovers.

Indiana Dunes National Park

Skirting the bottom rim of Lake Michigan, Indiana Dunes National Park exerts a resort-like pull on this otherwise landlocked state. Several trails wind through the park through beaches, bogs, and prairies. The sand dunes in the park’s name can reach heights of 200 feet above Lake Michigan, and running down them at top speed is one of the great joys of being a Hoosier kid.
