Cottage vacation rentals in Altadena

This was our third trip to Darrell’s place in 2 1/2 years. We just can’t get enough! Each trip we add another night to our stay. We’re already checking our schedule for a trip back in October! This guest house is a tiny home, packed full of everything you need. We enjoyed cooking on the little two burner stove top, extra blankets for lounging around on the outdoor bed, mini fridge holds a lot, toaster oven, space heater for the chilly evenings, tv with cable and WiFi. Our favorite thing about this place is the feeling we get when we’re here. We’re instantly at peace. It’s calm and serene. We enjoyed working on crafts at the picnic table under the trees, listening to the deep wind chimes resonate throughout the property. Birds and other wild life are active and brought life to the experience as well as the flow of the many water falls. Darrell is really friendly, and generous. We’re so grateful that he offers this space to us to rent. Looking forward to our next visit!

This is our 3rd time staying at Joseph & Kelly’s place! It is always a pleasure! They make you feel right at home and are willing to help with any need! We love this place and plan to return very soon!

Lynne's place is a beautiful 3-bedroom home right in the heart of Topanga. It is cozy, cute, and clean. We loved the outdoor bath house. Lynne was responsive, friendly, and helpful. Would return. Thanks!

Definitely wanted to stay longer! Connie made us feel welcomed before our stay even started and was even more of a delight to meet in person. The property is beautiful! Cottage was perfect for us and our pups. Neighborhood streets are nice to walk down with stores and restaurants easy to walk to. I can go on and on about the positives so I’ll just say that we will always check availability here first for any return trips.

I cannot recommend this place enough! From the moment I arrived, everything exceeded my expectations. The cottage was spotless, beautifully decorated, and had all the amenities I could possibly need. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and I appreciated the thoughtful touches like fresh coffee, extra towels, and a helpful guide with local recommendations. The location was perfect—close to everything, yet peaceful and quiet at night. Communication with the host was seamless; Linda was very thoughtful, responsive, friendly, and went out of her way to make sure I had a great experience. I especially appreciated the little things that showed she cared like the personal welcome and farewell notes. I’ll definitely be coming back!

the back yard, pool and cottage is beautiful and relaxing. the pool was wamed up for us. everything was clean and very cute. i hosted a little bbq here with the family and the main reason why everyone was so delighted with the place was because of Connie. such a wonderful soul. thank you and we will definitely make this a spot to book throughout the year.

MK is a fantastic host! Her place is in a wonderful, central location that allows you to easily get around LA which is saying a lot as LA can be a tough city to get around in. The home matched the description and photos. MK was very accommodating, flexible, kind, and responsive - thank you for a great stay!

We had a very enjoyable night. It was very peaceful. The morning birdsong was incredible.

My stay at The Venice Love Lodge was great! On nice quiet street it was easy for me and my two dogs to walk the neighborhood. The Love Lodge is very nice and clean is very well stocked with pans, dishes and utensils so we were able to stay in and cook (Ralph’s grocery store was nearby). Although it has been updated even has usb-c ports at the wall outlet this 1940’s era house was great. The TV has an APPLE TV box and you can log in to your account to watch your content (just remember to log out when you leave). I felt very safe walking around and safe parking on the street. The bicycles are in good working condition and was fun riding around. Personally I preferred a Waymo ride to the Santa Monica pier and Venice Boardwalk (theAI car drove better than some of the other rides shares and was slightly cheaper. Overall had a great time and will do again when I can. Thank you Arron and Monica for the use of the Venice Love Lodge.

This was at least my third stay at Lisa’s place. I keep coming back for the value, the privacy and the beautiful surroundings. The place e is quirky, but we love that and we love Lisa and family as hosts. Good people who deserve our support.

Darrell’s place is in an unbeatable location — literally right on the beach! Out of all the options I looked at, this was by far the most affordable, and it exceeded expectations. It’s a private studio cottage (not a full house), located downstairs a massive balcony that directly overlooks the ocean. Super peaceful, with nothing but the sound of the waves right in front of you. Go to sleep so peaceful! The space was very clean and had everything we needed, including a smart TV with all the streaming apps — perfect for a relaxing night in. The unit is pet-friendly, which we appreciated! We also loved the neighborhood — it’s quiet, safe, and walkable, with a grocery store and restaurants just steps away. Darrell was a fantastic host and even left us wine and h20. Such a nice sweet surprise!! We will be back!

My favorite airbnb experience so far. Lovely cosy home, great facilities.. Arlene thought about everything we may need and made sure we felt at home. Appreciated the kind special treatment for PCT hikers!

Best Airbnb stay ever!! As a PCT hiker coming off trail for a couple zero days - we couldn’t have asked for a better stay. The house was so clean and cozy! Natasha had everything you could possibly need stocked in the house. Fresh towels, laundry detergent, kitchen appliances, a sick coffee maker, snacks and spices in the pantry, as well as the best sourdough bread I’ve ever had! Also the hot tub was a perfect touch to relax after a few hard climbs in previous days. Natasha was so responsive and helpful to us during our stay. Best Airbnb and host ever!!! Don’t book anywhere else!!

This place was my saving grace, total last minute find and I've already recommended it to a friend! Our favorite part of the stay was definitely the deck and the foliage, it was so beautiful! The beds were comfy and we loved throwing the windows and french doors open when it got warm. Between two of us, there was more than enough space. The location was great too, pretty close to some good spots like Valerie's and some nice bars in the area. Will keep this place in my lists of good LA stays(:

I stay here anytime I am in topanga. Such a lovely oasis. Cooked myself dinner and breakfast, sat in the beautifully clean sauna (heats up quick), took a bath outside, napped in the hammock, and was on my way. Perfect place to stay, 10/10.

The Captain’s Cottage was a very cozy stay for me and my partner. We really appreciated the clean and comfortable rooms. They made sure we had their contact information and to let them know if we needed anything. The price was very reasonable and I could recommend this property to anyone needing a place to stay.

We had a wonderful stay at this charming cottage—it was the perfect spot for a peaceful and relaxing getaway. The location was ideal, with plenty of things to do nearby. We went wine tasting at Giracci Vineyards, enjoyed a delicious dinner at Xacalli Kitchen, and went hiking at Maple Springs! The cottage itself was cozy, clean, and well-equipped. We especially loved that we could cook and bbq dinner outside during our stay. Communication with our host was seamless; she was incredibly sweet and responsive throughout our visit. Meeting her adorable Maltese was truly the highlight of the trip! Highly recommend this cottage; We’ll definitely be back!

This was the perfect place to stay! We were there for our Chapman student’s graduation. We were able to relax and enjoy everything more because of this space. Being able to cook breakfast as a family and offer her a peaceful spot to study for her last exam made it feel like we were at home.

Beautiful historic bungalow in Downtown Orange with a wonderful patio and fire pit to relax and unwind. The location is perfect in a safe neighborhood and in walking distance to restaurants and Chapman University. Steve was a great host and accommodating! I highly recommend this Airbnb!

Natalie was an amazing host! She truly thought of everything to make our stay comfortable, and we felt right at home from the moment we arrived. The peaceful porch was a wonderful spot to enjoy morning coffee, lunch, or just relax, and being just steps from the beach made the experience even better. You will never stay in an Airbnb as beautiful or with a host as accommodating. Fari and Nina set the bar for what an Airbnb experience should be. Upon arrival we were greeted by Fari and his lovely wife Nina and made to feel immediately at home. We were lost for words for how beautiful both the location was and also the quality of the property's finish and all of it's contents (the kitchen is better equipped than our kitchen at home!) Fari went the extra mile to ensure we had the most enjoyable trip and were treated like family, as opposed to tenants, throughout the whole stay - whilst also ensuring we had all the privacy we needed. Fari ensured we felt settled in Malibu - providing local expertise and guidance to all the wonderful hiking trails and flora & fauna in the area and showing us the sites. Not forgetting the best daily smoothies! We are truly grateful to both Fari and Nina for having us at their home, and leave feeling like we've gained new friends for life. Until next time
