Eat/Drink like A LOCAL - Taverns & Ramen
LET'S GET OUT OF THE TOURIST AREA where it is overpriced and crowded with tourists! I recommend that you join the tour at the beginning of your trip to Japan, as I will discuss not only Japanese food and drinks but also culture and traditions, which will be beneficial for the rest of your stay for sure! This tour focuses on Ueno, which is not as crowded as Shibuya, Shinjuku and is less touristy. It’s also popular with the Japanese for eating and drinking at any time. I'm going to take you to popular taverns and restaurants for ONLY LOCALS (NO TOURISTS!!) where the staff speaks only Japanese. I will order signature dishes, and we will discuss the food and drink (and you can pepper me with questions). We will visit several restaurants/taverns/bar in total, where you will sample sashimi, grilled fish and skewered meat, etc. You will also have the opportunity to try UNIQUE Japanese alcoholic drinks! (5 or more different type of drinks) You'll be able to experience what Japanese taverns are like. After visiting these three taverns, we will end the tour at a great Ramen shop that is popular with locals. During the tour, you will be able to talk to other travelers and share information about Japan. It will be great to exchange information from the same viewpoint. At the end of the tour, I will explain which train station you need to go, depending on where you go.

The Only Real Japanese Archery -Kyudo- Experience in Tokyo
Welcome to Tokyo, Japan! Experience KYUDO, the Japanese art of archery, the most beautiful, elegant martial art, with this program in Tokyo. In Japan, KYUDO is recognized to be a “Dynamic ZEN Meditation”. Believe it or not, you know when you hit the target the moment the arrow leaves your hand. Usually in Japan, when people take up KYUDO in earnest, it takes several months of practice before they are allowed to actually shoot at a target, but this program lets you go straight into action. Don a real traditional KYUDO uniform. Get matched with a bow and arrows for your body. Channel your inner spirits, but keeping your mind quiet, and try shooting an arrow at the middle of the target. You have dozens of times to try, but please understand that you may not hit the target on your first day, or you may get lucky once or twice. So, get advice on how to improve your movement. Although the instructor in this program is a DAN master (seeker), we have made many improvements over the thousands of people we have accepted for this experience and have created the program that can be enjoyed even by those who are new to Kyudo. * The meeting place for this program is different each time. Then after reservation, find the location by our message (the location is NOT at Tokyo station) * We would appreciate your assistance in carrying tools and cleaning the hall when we are done using it

Tokyo live walk
Firstly, we’ll visit the 300 year old Nezu shrine, which is my favorite shrine in Tokyo. I'll explain the history of the shrine and tell you some various beliefs and traditions of ancient Japanese people. When you pass through the “100 red gate tunnel”, you’ll feel as if you are back to the Edo era (17th to 19th century). Secondly, we’ll walk around Yanaka area which is a part of Ueno. The area we’ll walk around is a pretty downtown and a quiet residential area. There are many temples and small traditional shops. I’m sharing some interesting stories behind the places that we’ll visit. You may buy a little souvenirs and eat snacks if you like. The tour ends at a local popular shopping street, Yanaka Ginza. Since I live near here, I can share some of my favorite shops. Ueno was one of the battlegrounds of Meiji Restoration in 1868. I’ll tell about how Japan has changed from the era of the samurai to modernized Japan, sharing my university knowledge and my family story. Note: Please be sure to wear your comfortable walking shoes. ※この体験は英語で開催されます。日本語をご希望の方は貸切にてお申し込みをお願いいたします
Sacred garden
First, we’ll visit Kichijyoji temple, which was an important center of learning in Edo (the old name for Tokyo) during the 17th century. I’ll explain the temple’s history and architecture and tell you some fascinating stories about it. Secondly,we’ll visit Fuji-jinjya shrine, which was enshrined on the top of a man-made hill which represents the mt.Fuji in the Edo period. Many people visited this artificial hill as if they felt like claiming up the real mt.Fuji, which has been cherished as a sacred mountain. Let’s claiming up this small mt.Fuji! Then we’d be able to feel what common people believed back then. Finally, we’ll walk to Rikugien – a beautiful 300-year-old garden which is my favorite place in Tokyo. I’ll explain the garden’s secrets and introduce you to ancient Japanese poetry (“waka"), which played an important part in the lives of samurai feudal lords and the nobility. This tour offers you a gateway into Japanese history and aesthetics. Together we’ll explore the roots of Japanese society and culture. ※この体験は英語で開催されます。日本語をご希望の方は貸切にてお申し込みをお願いいたします
