Step into a meticulously restored 1868 Victorian Italianate villa where history comes alive and creativity flourishes. This award-winning restoration (Landmarks Illinois 2020) offers an authentic 19th-century experience on five secluded acres of old-growth oaks and rolling pasture.

The space
Roff Home has welcomed fascinating residents throughout its 150+ year history, from Spiritualist founders Asa and Dorothy Roff to aviator Katherine Clifton, who built her own airstrip here in the 1940s. The home gained national attention in 1879 as the site of "The Watseka Wonder," documented as America's first recorded case of spiritual healing, which continues to intrigue visitors and researchers today.

More recently, our Victorian villa has become a magnet for creative minds, hosting independent films like "Whispers of the Witching Hour" and music videos by Chicago band Belmont. Featured on paranormal television shows including Ghost Brothers and Travel Channel's "America's Most Terrifying Places," this home offers a truly unique stay that bridges past and present.

While some believe the home carries spiritual energy from its storied past, we've cultivated an atmosphere of tranquility and peace over our 20 years here. Whether you're drawn by the authentic Victorian atmosphere, the creative inspiration, or simply the escape from modern life, Roff Home offers an unforgettable experience.

Valentino, a chef, and John, a marketing professional, live and work between Chicago and Watseka, IL. Most of the time we are in Chicago, which means our lovely, restored 1868 Victorian Italianate home sits empty and alone in Watseka. Valentino moved to the US from MIlan, Italy, in 2019, which is why some of the reviews in his profile are in Italian and reference MIlan. His partner, John, is from Watseka and has spent the last 15 years restoring this home back to the way it looked when it was built in 1868.
