The condo is 90% hardwood flooring for a clean, dust-free environment. The setting is peaceful and quiet. A bar, restaurants and general store are a five minute walk. There is parking in front of the building. The parking lot is plowed of snow so you won't get stuck.
Bear Valley is a family-oriented ski town offering both cross country skiing at Bear Valley Cross Country and downhill skiing at Bear Valley Mountain. Cross country skiing is a 3 minute walk while downhill is a 5 minute drive. Back country ski touring can be done on Hwy 4 and Spicer Road. To park your car for BC skiing you will need to pick up a Sno-Park Pass at the Bear Valley Cross Country Shop (gas station) for $5/day.
  • Had a great time. A little tight for 5 in the living space but we made it work. Had everything we needed for a memorable couple days skiing. Richard was super responsive.

  • great location for ski and snow play, space was great for our family--we enjoyed a quiet weekend in bear valley!

    Jennie2017-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • Richard's condo was very convenient and had everything we needed. It's very basic and cooking supplies are limited, but if you are just making a basic meal you should have what you need. The condo is walking distance to the village, but you'll need to shuttle to the ski lifts (or drive). It's a naturally beautiful area and we enjoyed our stay very much.

  • This was truly a hidden gem in Bear Valley. Shuttle to the ski slopes, dinner, groceries, everything was within 5 mins walk. The place is on first floor with stunning views of snow cones pines outside the window. There was ample place for a family of four and Richard took care of all amenities. Everything was clean and cozy, and we felt right at home. Hope he will keep the place so we can return next year.

  • Linda's cabin in the woods was the perfect place to embrace tranquility. The setting is pretty and minutes from Bear Valley. The attention she and her spouse give to the building and environs is so evident. All our needs were met & exceeded. I so appreciated the cleanliness and order of their home. Our family intends to return, as we are yet to launch the kayak!

    L2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Linda's cabin. It is nestled back in the woods off of highway 4. The cabin is cute, cozy, and very clean. Everything we needed for our stay was there. She even has a Kayak that you can use! Linda is a delightful host and very helpful especially if you're not familiar with the area. I highly recommend this Airbnb. We will be back!

    Teri2016-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Linda was incredibly warm and generous showing us around the neighborhood and giving us tips on places to go and things to see. It was great to get a hang of the area all before checking in. Cell coverage is spotty, so coordinating beforehand to meet is really important. We met at the gas station in town which was really easy. Great little cabin in a quiet forest neighborhood. Easy access to lots of activities nearby.

    Justin2016-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Linda's Bear Valley Cabin is a great place to stay if you are looking for a quiet stay in the high central Sierra's. A great place for a weekend both adventuring and relaxing. We spent our days biking and hiking and evenings under the starry skies. We enjoyed the front patio for coffee and drinks, making meals in fully equipped kitchen and a good night's rest in the mountain air on the comfy queen bed. The cabin is clean and cozy. I would recommend it if you are looking for a stay in this mellow part of the Sierras.

    Nathaniel2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, tidy, neat and lovely cabin, with amazing hosts indeed. Fresh and airy location surrounded by beautiful trees and quiet neighbors to make it an ideal place to detox, relax, and enjoy nature, and probably one of the rarest places on earth without pollution! Bear Valley is a splendid area with unmatched breathtaking natural landscapes. Linda and Craig were wonderful hosts, they should honestly teach the art of hosting; They were considerate, helpful, and generous in every way. Upon arrival, Linda treated us to a tour of the beautiful Bear Valley and its activities, she even left for us in the cabin brochures of current activities and events happening in the area, which we found extremely helpful! Thank you Linda and Craig for sharing your wonderful cabin and kayak with us! The kids and us felt home away from home! We will definitely visit again!

    Nelly2016-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • This home was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The location was close to activities and beautiful. Linda was extremely helpful. We had a lovely experience.

    Alice2017-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Linda's quiet cabin in the woods is fantastic!! We brought my two year old and it was perfect. Serene, rustic, and a full kitchen (I always appreciate having all my cooking needs when staying at an Airbnb)! Also quite close to Lake Alpine where we swam one day and hiked around another. I highly recommend and will certainly be staying there again in the future!

    Lily2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Linda was an incredible host! She met us and took us on a quick tour of the community, showed us where to pick up necessities and showed us some incredible views. The cabin itself is incredible. Much, much nicer than the pictures show. I would highly recommend this rental. Thanks Linda for the great stay!

This is our great getaway property where we park our car and don't get in it again until we leave. Everything is right out the door. Ski Out to the shuttle that takes you for a 3 minute ride to the mountain, Ski back from the mountain to the house.
  • We've stayed here before so know what to expect. Kitchen was well stocked. Host was flexible and available.

    Andréa2017-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin has a warm, rustic charm. The space is small, but well laid out and most amenities are readily available including a great stove fireplace and plenty of wood to keep it fed. The neighborhood offers a balance between serene Sierra beauty and a light pulse of family oriented happenings. On top of that, you have the highly underrated Bear Valley Ski resort at your back door and all of the genuinely friendly staff and adventure to fill your days with. Ryan is a responsive host and helped make the stay a good experience.

    Scott2016-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • the scenic location of this place is just fantastic. The cabin has a warm and cozy feel to it, we'd love to come back sometime! Its an old cabin and it shows and some of the furniture - like the couches - were a bit rundown but overall the charm and location of this place definitely make up for it!

    Dolf2017-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Ryan's cabin. The cabin is simple but very well thought and we found everything we needed. I appreciated the quality of the bedding, the generosity of our host with towels, blankets, extra heathers, soap, shampoos, basic food necessities, games... It felt real and personal. The surrounding are so idyllic that we spent most of our time around the house, sledding, playing with snow, skiing in the little paths in the peaceful atmosphere. I loved that no cars can come up the mountain and that the children can play outdoors on the streets full of snow, free. The cabin was beyond my expectations. Thanks Ryan for being very available to answer all our questions and calls with great friendliness. We hope to come back.

    Sabrina2016-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great time, beautiful location and very responsive host. Will come again!

Classic 1974 ski condo with a semi open upstairs loft. You walk up 4 steps and there is a full bathroom and a double bed. Down stairs there is a pull out couch and a full kitchen. Our family of four enjoys staying there comfortably. It is not the Hilton but we like it and hope you will.
Our condo is close to Outdoor adventure and spectacular views. The condo sits right on the edge of National Forest. It is about a 1/2 mile off of HWY 4 in the heart of Bear Valley. It is about 300 yards west of the lodge and general store - Our condo is 500 square feet and it is very comfortable for up to 4 people. The upstairs has a double bed and the downstairs has a fold out couch. It has a full kitchen with a microwave, stove, dishes, pots and pans. We have recently repainted it and it has fluffy white towels and linens. The entire condo and the SIERRA We will probably not be physically there but we can be reached by phone or email - (EMAIL HIDDEN) (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) Our condo is very nice and new repainted. It is not the nicest but we do take care of it. You will get a nice, clean comfortable place to stay. The condo is at 7100', high up in the Sierra. We are 100 meters from the ski shuttle. The only public transportation is the ski shuttle in the winter - HWY 4 is one of the best highways in the world!! During the winter it is best to park 20' away from the roofline due to the snow load. Park near the garage that says "DO NOT BLOCK" of course do not block it
  • Cosy studio loft in the beautiful Stanislas Forest. 70's ski lodge chic. Very comfortable. Would not suit people who have difficulty with stairs.

  • We loved being in the condo and at bear Valley. Richard and Claudia were friendly and communicative. It's great for a couple.

    Madhuri2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great location. The condo is small and simple, but perfect for people who will be spending the majority of their time enjoying the outdoors. Communication was easy and later check out allowed time to enjoy a good bike ride on Sunday without feeling rushed.

    Rachel2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Can't go wrong. Great little get away with lots to do. Fishing boating hiking restaurants. Skiing in season. All within just a SHORT trip up the hill. Highly recommend Rich (owner) Great guy and easy to work with. And the price is right for a bedroom with bath, full kitchen and a big fold out bed. Not to forget great TV reception in addition to cell phone reception.

My place is close to Bear Valley, Lake Alpine, Utica, Union & Spicer Reservoirs, Pacific Crest Trail & Big Trees State Park. Not far from Arnold, Murphys & Angels Camp. You’ll love my place because of the outdoors space, the ambiance, family friendly atmosphere, guest kitchen, scrumptious breakfast, European feel, easy access and relaxed lifestyle.. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, & families (with kids). Room has queen bed, twin rollaway bed, kids cot & private ADA bathroom.
Back Chalet #10 has a queen bed, twin rollaway, and fold out kids bed (from a fold out chair. Space is comfortable for 2, and cozy for 3 or 4. Great for a couple or a small family with 1 or 2 kids. Bathroom is large and spacious with handicap shower. Linens and towels are provided.
High Sierra Mountain located at 7000 to almost 9000 feet. Mountain Lakes and streams great for hiking, biking, fishing, boating or just relaxing. Tamarack Lodge at Bear Valley is mid way between Lake Tahoe and Yosemite. Both can be visit for a day trip (with lots of driving for Yosemite). Lake Tahoe is closer.
  • We stayed in Chalet Rm 12, which has a queen bed and two small beds for kids. Cozy but fine for our small family. The mattress on the queen bed was too soft for us. Room was clean and very warm, with its own thermostat. Late check-in was easy with Vicky's instructions. Wifi only worked in the main lodge due to the wall of snow. Very helpful with a mini fridge/freezer outside the door in the hallway, as well as dedicated space in the fridge in the community kitchen in the main lodge. The only thing we couldn't find in the kitchen was a knife sharpener. Our kids loved playing in the common room and outside in the snow. Very family friendly, international hostel-like atmosphere.

    Erik2017-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, quiet, comfortable. Love the kitchen and common room options. We had the "chalet" in back, which was nice to reduce any road noise. Very inexpensively furnished and built, but fine. Wifi was decent.

    Lindsey2016-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Vicky was a great host and the room was clean and cozy. Breakfast was really good. Could definitely stay here again!

    Elin2016-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Vicky, was a great host and we loved the atmoshere, cozyness, and remoteness of her place. We stayed 2 nights while skiing at Bear Valley Mountain, which was only a 15 min drive away, so very convenient. First of all, Vicky, prompltly returned our call and told us they found our camera that we accidentally left behind in our room and she's shipping it back to us. We were very upset that we had thought we lost it, but very happy and grateful they found it. We stayed in the Back Chalet Rm#12 (behind the main lodge) which was nice, clean and cozy. The only hard part for me and my wife was walking thru the tight space between the beds (one queen size and two twin beds in the room) as I'm 6' 7"and built like an NFL lineman but we made do and worked with it. Maybe next time we stay here, I will try to plan more ahead and request the Back Chalet Rm#10 which looks a little more roomy from the photos and I like the idea of the ADA bathroom and shower for me. But other than that we had a pleasant stay. The room was clean, the queen bed was comfortable (a little too high for my wife, it was a struggle for her to get in and out of the bed). So she slept in one of the twin beds the second night. Glad she had that option. The bathroom was good. We liked the almost instant hot water and my wife was happy there was a hair dryer available. Also, we were happy there were plenty of towels for the length of our stay and access to a microwave and mini-refrigerator just outside our room in the hall. We didn't take advantage of it, but there is a community kitchen and lobby in the main lodge with a library of books and some videos and free wifi. We did get a wifi signal in the Back Chalet but only off peak times, late at night or early in the morning otherwise you have to go to the lobby area in the main lodge for a good signal. It looked to be a very kid friendly place as well and they had a great place in back for the kids to play in the snow too. I would definetly recommend Vicky and the Tamarack Lodge to anyone looking for a nice clean accommodating place to stay when in the Bear Valley area.

    Kenneth2017-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • Room was exactly as described and perfect for the 4 of us. The girls loved going for hikes in the woods and the room was clean and comfortable. Vicky could not have been nicer and we felt at home at Tamarack Lodge. This will be the first of many stays to come as it is a great place to stay when skiing at Bear Valley!

    Sarah2016-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet and clean!

    Artos2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Surrounded by beautiful woods for exploring in snow shoes. Nice lounge area for relaxing while using wifi. Ample kitchen & eating space. They ran out of frozen waffles so they made fresh ones. The thermostat is on a program to drop to 55F at several points through the day including 10pm, so if you go to bed before that, prepare to get up and set it again if that is too cold for you to sleep.

    David2017-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful time here in Bear Valley. Very child friendly and great for families. Very clean, cosy and welcoming. Vicky and Tim were wonderful hosts. Would have no hesitation recommending to others.

  • Awesome location! It was our first time in the area and was a short drive to Big Trees State Park and Alpine lake. Lots of great hiking at both these places. We stayed in the glamping site and it was very well maintained. Glamping helped us cut our cargo in half for other gear in my small coupe. Vicky was very helpful with advice and told us about a quick walk to a vista point right behind the lodge. We would definitely recommend and come back again!

  • Vicky was great! The drive to the place was really scary but as soon as we reached the place , Vicky made us feel at home. The place is really beautiful and clean. Best thing, is the hot showers though! They were great at accommodating our needs. It was my first Airbnb experience and an amazing one at that!

    Ankur2016-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • I really enjoyed my weekend at the lodge! It was a welcoming and social environment where you met neighbors and fellow travelers in the kitchen. Tent was very large- would easily fit any small group of sharing a tent together. Property is off of the highway but there was little traffic the weekend I spent there. The host and her sister were a joy to meet and very helpful when I hurt my knee hiking. I appreciate their approach of creating a friendly affordable space in which to enjoy the mountains- and so many beautiful things to enjoy in all seasons right nearby.

  • A perfect place to play in the snow for young kids. We stayed for 2 nights and even though there were more 'professional' winter activities very close by, my son (almost 5 years old) spent all of his time in the 'back porch' of this condo building a snow cave, snowman, etc. Also great collection of kid friendly movies and toys in the condo. It had snowed about a week prior to our visit, and plenty on the ground. The condo is on the ground floor, and the patio door opens up to flat area (covered by snow) that backs to a creek.

    Philip2016-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the place, it was cozy and the bed was super comfortable! It was very clean and there were plenty of clean linens and a great selection of DVDs. I would warn though (and it's not currently in the listing) that the breakers were an issue our entire stay. There is no central heating so there are space heaters throughout the condo. The only problem is that you can't have the heaters on and the lights at the same time. We had to reset various breakers multiple times during our stay. Also, bring your own shampoo and soap. We had to buy some in the lodge because we didn't bring any.

    Monique2017-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great small condo for going skiing to bear valley. Scott was great and answered all our questions ;) Bear valley village was a bit overwhelmed by the quantity of snow this year. With a 1sf floor apartment we could barely see the sun light! Small walk to shuttle... think about it with small kids.

  • Vicky and her family were very friendly and helpful hosts! Their property was gorgeous and the proximity to Lake Alpine is ideal. The campground was nice and had all the necessities. The lodge has a lot of farm animals which are on the property surrounding the campground. The animals are fun and add to the country feel but beware of manure when walking around the grounds. Overall, very good experience!

  • Vicky was great. Friendly and super nice. The on-site real bathrooms is great for easing that uninitiated family member to camping. Worked for my mother in law and wife.

  • Camping out behind Vicki's lovely lodge was such a wonderful experience! This was an impromptu trip shoddily planned by my boyfriend and I, and it was only because of Vicki's help and kindness that we were able to make it a fantastic getaway. The accommodations were even nicer than we bargained for as campers with access to a full kitchen, a hot shower, and advice on the best nearby hikes. Highly recommended!

  • Great little camp ground! So scenic and quiet, really easy to find! Inside the lodge was fab, we used the bbq on the night to cook steak and cooked our brand on the camp fire, breakfast in the robing we used the kitchen facilities, met Nancy, who was LOVELY! We loved this place and will be in our memories for a long time!!!

  • Great place to stay! Family friendly, affordable, clean, and amazing views in each direction. I loved that our family could meet others, yet have time to ourselves. The common areas like the kitchen and family room were perfect, nice space, clean and we met some really great people! Can't wait to visit again!

  • Staying at the lodge was a great experience. The family is very welcoming and kind. I definitely recommend staying here!

  • My sister and I stayed 4th of July weekend and it we had an awesome stay. The accommodations were great for the price. The continental breakfast was just the right amount of food to get us going in the morning. The check-in procedures, wifi password, kitchen information, restroom and bedroom instructions were posted throughout the lodge; this made it easier to find our way around the premises and help ourselves to whatever we needed. On the way there, my sister and I didn't have cell service, but we were still able to find the location of the lodge with ease. There's a large sign in front of the lodge and it's literally right off of the main highway. My sister and I felt very safe in the lodge even though there were a lot of people and families coming and going. Vicky was very friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend staying here. P.S. We were originally going to stay in the family bunkbed room, but since it had been booked on their website we were upgraded to a queen+twin bedroom with towels and bedding. It was really nice not having to use the towels we originally intended to use for the shower. Even if we had stayed in the bunk bed room I'm sure we would still have enjoyed our stay. of the lodge. You definitely can't miss it.

  • This was a wonderful gem in Bear Valley! We are so happy that we found it and will be returning here when we make a future trip to Bear Valley Ski resort or exploring hiking trails. My kids LOVED the little hill behind the lodge for sledding, and we did too! We stayed in the Family Bunk Room, which was very roomy for our family of four. There was enough space for our 4 year old to play with his toy cars. : ) The location was perfect! We were 5 miles from the Bear Valley Ski Resort and 2 miles from the Bear Valley Village which has a gas station, grocery store and resturant (FYI, all these places close early.) Tamarack Lodge provides many options: staying in with a mug of hot chocolate or glass of wine next to the fireplace; kids playing checkers, board games or ping pong; venturing outdoors like skiing at Bear Valley, cross country skiing at the village or sledding just behind the lodge. So many options for the indoor or outdoor personalities. Like I said, it's a GEM! Thank you Vicky and Tim for your hospitality!

  • Great location, accurate property description (a bit "rustic" for some - but good value for what you pay), charming hosts, and timely / thorough pre-trip communications from host.

  • Pictures didn't do it justice as it felt much more large and spacious in person. Great, quiet location. Also there apparently is a community dog (Rocko) as this friendly lab mutt mix meandered into our rental area. Super nice and friendly with a tag that says "I'm not lost".

    Ryan2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • The house is ample, with plenty of cooking pans, great jacuzzi & sauna, comfortable beds and welcoming host. Jim was very quick at communicating with us. The area; however, has little to no groceries so plan accordingly. we didn't so paid lot's of money for milk. There is a grocery store at a town about 30 miles west. A small grocery store minutes (walking distance) but only has basic at a higher cost because it's difficult to get groceries to the mountains :-) Overall, we had a great time and loved disconnecting from our phones, emails, etc and relaxing around the cabin, lake, and in the beautiful jacuzzi.

    Elizabeth2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Jim is a wonderful host and his home in Bear Valley is wonderfully styled, classic A-frame cabin. The hot tub and sauna were indeed state of the art and the beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and had a 12" cast iron pan that was well cared for. Additionally, though we brought firewood, there was quite the stockpile for the campfire ring in the backyard. From the photos, the house looks pretty remote, however, it is placed in a community with 2 neighboring houses, about 50-75 feet away on the right and left.

The continental breakfast was a great bonus and Vicky's crumble cake was delicious. We definitely recommend staying here for a mountain weekend or when the snow starts to fall. Will be back for sure!

  • The Lodge has a wonderful homey feel and Vicky is a generous host. I was up for a weekend of skiing with my son and when there was a cancellation in the spacious "barn" suite she upgraded us. It was perfect. Access to Bear Valley Ski resort is excellent. This is a really nice spot.

    Keith2016-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time staying with Vicky, and we can't wait to come back! We love the lodge itself- comfy, clean, warm, and welcoming. What I love the most is the instant friendships that form with the other kids at the lodge. Because of the shared great room (ping pong, checkers, cards) and snow play area, kids just start playing together. After a fun day skiing, they look forward to going back to the lodge to kick back and chill. When Vicky let the kids roast marshmallows and make s'mores on Saturday evening outside on the deck, the deal was sealed. This is a special place.

    Michelle2016-02-08T00:00:00Z

  • This place is only a few miles away from the Bear Valley Ski Resort. There is no restaurant on site. There are basic food items in the family style kitchen. It is better to bring some food just in case you arrive late or weather condition such as snow storm makes it difficult to drive to a restaurant. Heating works very well, which is nice during cold winter days.

  • Vicky was very nice. We loved the place. We were a group of 6 and there was enough space and beds for us. The breakfast was amazing, in fact they made fresh oatmeal for us as they ran out of the instant oatmeal. That was special. Wi-fi was the only issue. We couldn't get wi-fi in our Barn.

  • my husband and son stayed at the condo for a few days just before Christmas. it was a last minute trip so I was a bit worried that we would not be able to find any available properties. Vicky responded very quickly and sent lots of information about the property. my husband said that the condo itself more than met their needs, and both my husband and son loved the sledding hill right by the property and the food at the nearby lodge. we would definitely stay here again if we come back to bear valley!

    Minnie 2014-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • Vicky was great and we loved having our own space so close to skiing. The kids loved sledding in the back and Vicky even saved an extra piece of bread pudding for my son when he got back the next day. Super nice and very happy with the place.

  • Tamarack is a great place to stay - conveniently located a short drive to the ski slopes. The private chalet was great - kitchen stocked with pots, utensils, and things we'd need to make our own meals. The space was cozy, bathroom really nice with ample towels. Wifi isn't great in that area in general - you need to walk over to the main lodge to use it - but the main lodge is great, too.

  • I came up mid-week to ski at Bear Valley, arriving, I think, at about 8 PM at Tamarack Lodge. The turn off Highway 4 was easy to find and parking directly in front couldn't have been easier. Tim (with Vicky, one of the owners and caretakers) greeted me--I think he was just about to finish up for the night--and showed me around the living area and well-appointed kitchen. He was very welcoming and friendly, and had good advice about the likely ski conditions for the next day. My room was cozy and comfortable and the shared bathrooms were super clean. The recreation/living area was spacious and I wished I'd brought food to cook rather than simply warming up my frozen burrito in the microwave; certainly the facilities were more than adequate. WIFI was fast too. The self-serve continental breakfast the next morning was pretty standard, but I'll definitely bring my own food the next time. There's fridge and shelf space available. This was my first time at TL, but definitely won't be the last. Can't wait to bring my family!

  • The lodge was pleasant! As others said, "luxury" is probably not the right word when you are in a cabin/lodge-like experience. It was cozy and absolutely cabin-feeling, no frills. Plenty of hot water which was great after a long day on the slopes. It was a family-oriented environment - safe and friendly which was great. It was a very convenient location - a short drive up to Bear Valley ski area. I would stay here again.

  • Vicky and her family were very welcoming! The place was perfect for what we had planned for our weekend. The community kitchen was very convenient for us to make dinner. The Lodge is minutes away from Alpine Lake and Mosquito Lake which could be one of the most picturesque place I've ever seen. We would definitely stay here again if we were in the area again.

Charming one bedroom with loft, sleeps 6. Queen size bed in the loft, twin bed with pop up trundle bed in the bedroom and queen size futon in the front room. Big screen smart TV with dish, Netflix and WiFi. Free shuttle service to Bear Valley ski resort.
  • This was a perfect pick for our budget and family of four (kids 8 and 11). It is small (maybe 600 square feet) but it had everything we needed for a short snow play trip. It was super clean and has updated decor inside. It is close enough to the lodge to walk to pizza or a drink. Condo complex was super quiet on the Monday and Tuesday night we stayed. We played in the snow everyday at Round Valley snow park and had a blast.

The sound system and flat screen tv's, comfortable beds and furniture were great. The kitchen was also very well stocked. Thanks Dane and Jules for the use of your wonderful Ski Condo.

Beautiful two story home with the best views of the Sierras in Bear Valley. Wake up to the sun rise in the east and have a day of unlimited adventure.
Quiet street with access to hiking Bloods Ridge at the end of the street.
  • Mary's Winter Wonderland home is truly special, with amazing views of the mountains and surrounding forrest. The fact that we needed to take a snowmobile to get there was made it even more of a unique and fun adventure. The area is very peaceful and quiet, and the surrounding homes are all beautiful. The house was well equipped with firewood for the wood-burning stove and cooking ware, and it was a short drive away from nearby Bear Valley ski resort. It was a memorable and relaxing weekend, and we hope to come back.

  • Oh, my...what an amazing experience! The home was comfortable...and the view was phenomenal! Mary was gracious, and very responsive. The few glitches we had were quickly resolved by emails. The snowmobile was a great asset. Sheets and towels could use upgrading, and yet the total experience was well worth it! We will absolutely be staying again!!!

  • Mary's place is superb. Views are fantastic and the house layout was perfect for our family of four. We have stayed at other homes in bear valley and this is by far our favorite one so far. Will definitely be returning.

  • The house is spacious, with beautiful views of the mountains. The kitchen is well equipped and large and there was plenty of counter space which is something you don't usually get in a ski rental. The snow mobile was easy to use and Mary gave us great instructions. She is very responsive and I would strongly recommend that people give her house a go. You will not be disappointed

    Sheri2016-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Me and my group of friends had a great time at Mary's place (we were Skiing at Bear Valley over the weekend). The house is located in the idyllic Bear Valley village. The roads in the village were snow covered, so the last 2 miles to get to the house had to be done on a snowmobile (which was included with the house price and everyone loved this little 'adventure') Even though the ski resort is 3 miles from the village by car, at the end of the day we could simply 'Ski' back on a mountain trail which led straight from mountain top to the street where the house is located. Overall, an awesome experience!

  • Mary was a dream to work with and came thru in every way! The house is set atop one of the most glorious sunrise ridges in the country and is cozy, well equipped and private. We had a very special time there and will be going back.

We provide everything you need for a wonderful time: serene 3BR/1.5 BA, hot tub on deck, Weber grill, mud room, washer& dryer, open living room, wood stove, equipped kitchen w/dishwasher. Ski winter, hike, swim, fish in summer. A taste of heaven.
The cabin has all the amenities of comfort while you will be nestled in the pines of Sky High Ranch. It is quiet, with a long driveway away from other cabins. You can see the stars at night (great view from hot tub!), the drinking water is superb, and air is clean. Much better alternative to Tahoe, especially in the summer. No traffic, no crowds, stunningly pristine!
Sky High Ranch neighborhood is 5 miles below Bear Valley, with a pond walking distance from the cabin and a community center (with Internet) near the pond. Very friendly, with not too many people.
  • The house was just as described and all of the instructions were helpful and accurate. We felt at home and had a great time. It was winter and lots of snow, so AWD is critical, and chains help. We were glad we had our snow shoes for the path from parking to the house. Sitting in the hot tub and looking at the stars was a treat. We hope to visit again.

  • My friends and I had a fun weekend staying here. Kayla was quick to respond to any questions and accommodated a change on my end only a few days before our reservation. The cabin is nicely appointed and the hot tub was a big plus. I can recommend the nearby Alpine Lake for swimming if you need to cool down!

  • Great spot for summer trips to Bear Valley. Due to the snow we had a bit of a hike in to the house and out every time we left...which was challenging with all of our gear. The hot tub was nice as well as the massage chair after skiing! I would definitely recommend this as a summer cabin spot! Not being able to drive up to the house was definitely inconvenient.

    Katherine2016-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • Kayla was very communicative and offered us wonderful advice on the area! The home is cozy and full of anything you'd need to cook, clean, and enjoy your stay. Off the beaten path, but close to amazing kayaking, hiking, and river spots. We loved relaxing in the hot tub and watching movies from their great collection!

    Sarah2015-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was great. Exactly how it was described. We had tons of snow and it was perfect for our boys to play in.

    Andrew2017-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is perfect for people who love snow. We stayed here right after a big storm and the secluded setting was a perfect space for the kids and grown ups to play without having to get in the car. I would suggest arriving before dark in the winter as it is a bit of a hike to get in, and the snow banks were so high they covered the street signs and address marker. The cabin was comfortably furnished with just about everything you could want. The kitchen is well stocked despite some outdated appliances. It's a family cabin in the truest sense of the word: board games, back issue-magazines and a wood burning stove make relaxing inside great. And the massage chair was a hit! The room with a double bed in it was a bit colder than the others, but there was a space heater that more than made up for it. There is a huge mudroom and all of the bedrooms are downstairs, and the living space is above and feels like a tree house. Kayla was super responsive, she replied to our booking request within an hour, and answered all of our questions and gave super detailed directions. This is a really secluded subdivision that gets a lot of snow, so make sure you are prepared with the 4WD and snowshoes to get in. We really enjoyed the adventure and solitude, so if you are prepared, you will have a great time.

    Erin2017-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • My family loved every minute of our stay at this cabin. Very warm and you felt at home as soon as you walked in. The hot tub was great, while viewing all the stars. Kayla made everything easy and we look forward to staying there again.

High Sierra Getaway. Hiking, biking, swimming, fishing, sailing, camping, climbing, skiing - all in the backyard of this cozy but spacious High Sierra home.
This home is located in the heart of Bear Valley, a jewel in the high Sierras surrounded by over 30,000 acres of pristine lakes, streams and forests. The home is the perfect combination of cozy and comfortable and is large enough to sleep 12 in 6 separate bedrooms, making it perfect for larger groups or families. Whether you’re coming in winter or summer, you’ll be surrounded by the unprecedented beauty and fresh air found only in the High Sierras. About The Home - 6 bedrooms - 2 Bathrooms (showers, tub, double sink) - Three separate “seating / reading” areas - Spacious, cozy living room - Well equipped kitchen with gas stove and microwave - Wood burning stove, plus propane floor heater - Winter "walking bridge" and large covered entryway - Ample ski and equipment storage - Massive sunny outside deck, plus two covered porches - Gas and Charcoal BBQs - Outdoor open fire / cooking pit - Two Kayaks - Two Mountain Bikes - Horseshoe Area - Wireless Internet and Apple TV In Summer Pick you passion, outdoor activities or lazy days in comfortable deck chairs, this house is the right choice for you and your group. Bear Valley has everything. Its own local lake, with two sandy beaches - one locally known as “the little kid beach”, for its natural wading area. The other larger beach is equipped with picnic tables, sand volleyball court and an old time floating swim platform. Just minutes up the road, you’ll find picturesque Lake Alpine, complete with a general store, restaurant, fishing and and boating. Mountain bike and hiking trails are everywhere and you can rent extra kayaks and mountain bikes minutes from the house. In Winter Downhill, cross country or back country skiing, snowmobiling or snow-shoeing - you’ve come the right place. You are just minutes driving to the family friendly Bear Valley Ski Resort and only minutes walking or skiing to one of the foremost cross country ski and sledding areas in the Sierras. Snowmobiles are rentable with many groomed trails available. Note: Bear Valley roads are groomed for in and out skiing and snowmobiling to the cabins, however this cabin is close enough to town that walking in is common.
  • I rented the cabin because I was checking it out for a large group (10 people) that I want to bring up later in the summer. We were thinking we might need two cabins to hold everyone so I’m delighted that we’ll all fit in one. There are beds for 12 in six separate bedrooms-(nice linens, pillows, blankets throughout). My favorite part however is the giant outside deck with comfortable chairs and tables - perfect for coffee and breakfast in the morning and dinner and drinks in the evening. The kitchen has everything we’ll need. Two bathrooms / showers. Pretty living room, dining room. The area is pretty spectacular - nice hikes right from the cabin. The local lake is walking distance or a very short drive away. Lake Alpine is ten minutes away for fishing and boating. I can see why people call Bear Valley the Sierras best kept secret. There is nothing like waking up to the smell of pine trees and the peace and quiet of the mountains. While I didn’t get to meet the hosts, Don and Linda, their email communication and cabin instructions were very complete. The cabin itself is easy to use, everything just “works” as expected. The photos were good but the actual cabin looks even better in person. I will definetely be recommending this cabin to my group and would recommend it to anyone who wants to get away from the fast pace of the bay area or the heat of the valley. Perfect for any size gathering, especially good for larger families and groups. Delightful.

Autumn is spectacular in Bear Valley. Warm sunny days to hike or sit on the deck and enjoy the views, chilly evening to make a cozy fire. October brings the golden Aspen show. And it's so quiet up there this time of year.
Most quiet during the spring thaw, when "The snow is melting into music." (John Muir) Wildflowers abounding in July and August, adding to the view for hiking and water sports. Glorious warm days and golden aspens in the Autumn. Winter brings the full California ski experience. Roads in the Bear Valley residential area are not plowed, so no cars are allowed to enter, and everything remains completely white. The snowmobile ride up from the village adds to the adventure! Road's end location is perfect for sledding. The two bedrooms, each with an adjoining full bath, are on the entry level. The master bedroom has a wood stove and panoramic views. It has a king-size bed and a twin. The smaller bedroom has a twin bed, and also a trundle bed which can be used as one or two twins. The whole second story is one large room, with a wood stove and windows all around. It has a half bath and futons for four. The second story is all one big room with windows all around and panoramic mountain and forest views to the south and east.
What makes my neighborhood special is there are more views than houses!
  • What a great adventure! This special home is located near the top of Bloods Ridge. Rented snowshoes from the village and enjoyed a spectacular hike up the ridge to Bear valley ski boundary, then back to the house. Convenient shuttle from bear valley to ski resort allowed us to ski home. Locals very friendly. Don helped transport our gear, settled us in, and provided valuable local knowledge. Communication with host and Don was timely. Very comfortable home for our family of 4 teens and 2 adults.

  • I had great communication with the owner prior to going to help with understanding what I needed to bring and how to access the home. My son and I had a wonderful time in Stefani's (URL HIDDEN) a beautiful home high in the hills of Bear Valley with amazing views! It has a nice open floor on the top floor, perfect for cooking, reading or playing Monopoly (for days on end)! If you go in winter, prepare for an adventure in getting up to the home in a snowmobile and sled attached for your belongings..but this was part of the fun! I hope to make an annual trip to this home each winter!

    Therese2016-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful cabin tucked in the woods. Our two families comfortably spent a long weekend here. Stephanie is a very nice host and was available via phone and email during our stay. There is decent internet in the house. But above all this place is all about views. These pictures are right from the house. Few inconveniences that you need to be aware of are: you need to bring your own sheets and towels and when you leave you have to haul the trash to the dumpster of the village.

    Tariq2015-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • The good part is that location and view are really nice. There we also couple of things that rubbed me the wrong way. There are no linens or towels provided. This was clearly communicated when we made our reservation but still I do not find this experience acceptable. There were no paper towels in the kitchen and house wasn't cleaned throughly. Also, there are dozens of little notes with instructions what you should and should not do all over the house. This drives me crazy and makes me feel like I'm back to preschool. This one one about not peeling off the wallpaper was especially priceless. To summarize, ok experience but there are better options.

Reasonable drive to mountain tops and lakes where there is great hiking, kayaking and swimming options available. Nice neighborhood and holiday resort!

  • We had a wonderful stay at Katia's cabin at Bear Valley. The cabin is cozy but feels very spacious and open, with split level dining/kitchen and living room area upstairs, and three private bedrooms downstairs. It felt like more than enough space for our family of four. We visited in the summer so were able to take advantage of their picnic area of their property, including hammock and fire pit. All the furniture and appliances were in excellent condition and the home was super well organized and clean. Katia was easy to reach and helped make sure we had a smooth checkin and checkout. Would love to stay here again.

  • Nice people to deal with. The owners wer good about communicating before and during the trip to make sure everything was set for the stay - this was much appreciated as I had not used Airbnb before and was wondering how I would be able to communicate with the owners about details like snowmobiling in. We had a wonderful time.

  • Our group had a great time at this cabin. The 9 of us (including 3 kids) had plenty of room for play and relaxation. The cabin had a lot of personality, a retro vibe, perfect for big groups, clean, and was well-heated with 2 fireplaces. We did have a bit of trouble with the oven as well as the hot water + pressure when we arrived, but the hosts were extremely responsive and helped us get it sorted out in a timely manner. Only regret was how short the trip was.
