I Built in 1913, this historic site was originally the Norfolk-Southern Cafe. In the 1930s, the building was the site of grocery stores and meeting spaces, eventually becoming a popular coffee shop called "The Coffee Caboose". We loved our stay at the cottage over an extended Easter weekend. It was very comfortable for the 4 of us (teenage son, my wife and sister-in-law). We went there to get away, enjoy nature and each other and the mission was 100% accomplished! Jennifer's gardens are beautiful and the birds sang to us each morning and evening and all day. We got a tour of their yard and gardens and saw the chickens whose eggs Jennifer shared with us. Also, we loved the art around the cottage. They have some great paintings hanging in there as well as board games and books. I take day trips to the area often to visit some wildlife areas and it was so nice to be close by and easily visit those areas for sunrise and sunset. We all really enjoyed our stay . Kitchen was well-supplied. We were comfy and happy.

We very much enjoyed our stay and highly recommend Kathy’s place for a comfortable and peaceful stay! Prior to our arrival, Kathy sent clear instructions on how to check in and helpful info about the property. This was very helpful especially since we arrived late at night. She even left the porch light on for us which made finding our way inside very easy. The space itself felt like home and was very clean. The bed was comfortable and the living area was very nice with plenty of room to spread out. I particularly loved the beautiful back yard which backs up to the creek. This was the perfect home base for visiting the local wildlife refuges and is great for nature lovers. Last but certainly not least, Kathy and Bob are very kind people and go out of their way to make sure your stay is comfortable throughout. It was a true pleasure to meet them and I look forward to returning again soon!

Our 3-night stay at Legacy Lodge Bunkhouse in Windsor, NC, was a delightful escape to celebrate my wife’s and son’s birthdays. The bunkhouse kept our two kids entertained with games, toys, an air hockey table, and bunk beds our son adored. Outside, a mini paradise awaited: multiple fire pits (unlimited wood for $30, highly recommended), play areas, and a covered concrete space perfect for rollerblading and scootering. We enjoyed the wood-fired pizza oven and grilled steaks, though the propane grill needs a deep clean. The thoughtful birthday gifts and decorations for our son, plus a “Honk, it’s my birthday!” sign by host Deena (explaining the passing cars’ honks), added such a warm touch. This peaceful retreat is ideal for families or anyone seeking serenity. We’d absolutely recommend it!

Shynar is the absolute best host! The home is awesome. Everything you would need. We prefer to eat in and had everything at the home to prepare meals. Even had a new grill for cooking. Gas appliances were an upgrade to what we have at our home. Beds very comfy and a nice covered back porch to hang out in the evening. Very quiet neighborhood. We will be staying there in the future. Thank you Shynar for a great Weekend.

We had a wonderful stay at Edgewater for a weekend. The house was beautiful and immaculately clean. The view from the deck and yard was beautiful and very peaceful with the water, gardens, and lots of wildlife to see. Alan and Nora are super friendly and so accommodating. They have truly thought of everything and have provided so many fun things for guests to enjoy! We just wish we could have stayed longer.
