We spent over a year lovingly renovating and remodeling this vintage fire lookout cabin into a luxury vacation rental with a spacious Hot Springs spa. The two-bedroom, one-bath cabin is just over a mile from the historic town of Julian, yet it’s a private sanctuary with panoramic forest and Volcan Mountain Preserve views. The Enchanted Lookout is beautifully cleaned and sanitized after each stay.
“Tamara’s Enchanted Lookout is absolutely incredible! The quaint mountain cabin is absolutely stunning. The views are absolutely breathtaking. From the moment we stepped in to the enchanted lookout we felt relaxed and at home! Tamara was so thoughtful and amazing the entire time leading up to our stay and during! She answered all of my questions within minutes of asking as well as gave me so many recommendations. Our trip was truly made special by her! It was so clean and smelled AMAZING. Sitting in the hot tub while watching the sunset and the stars come out was so amazing. The beds were so comfortable. The kitchen had everything I could ever need. Taking a hot bath or shower in that incredible claw foot tub was everything I never knew I needed! We were minutes from the town. We had such an amazing stay and we truly fell in love with the place. We can’t wait to come back!! I can not recommend The Enchanted Lookout enough!”
Couples, Families, & Business Travelers only, please. Perched on top of a colossal granite boulder sits this idyllic cottage for your magical retreat in Julian. Originally constructed as a tiny hunting lodge in 1930, the Cottage on the Rock was completely rebuilt from top-to-bottom in 2020 for the modern Californian. Rustic touches remain, but once you check-in you’ll quickly discover you’re “not exactly roughing it.” Instagram: @JulianCottageontheRock
“We really liked Richard and Tera's place. My wife and I stayed here for two nights with another couple. Even though there is a sofa bed, the place is a little small for 4 people, but it is perfect for a couple. The place is exactly as it looks like on the photos; exceptionally clean, very stylish and comfortable. They have all necessary cooking utensils and a few extra amenities (coffee, tea, sugar). The fridge is really a minibar, which is not ideal, but understandable for the space. The best part is probably the outside deck with a grill and the firepit on the side of the house. Great location, comfortable bed and nice living room with TV and a beautiful view of the mountain and woods. Would stay here again any time.”
The perfect change of scenery during these stressful times! Our home is secluded and makes for a great getaway for those wanting a break from more populated areas, or those who just need a change of pace. While our home is located in the back-country of San Diego, we have great internet for guests needing to continue work during this time. We are taking extra precautions to ensure the safety of our guests by sanitizing thoroughly after each guest and leaving time in between reservations.
“As we drove up to the gate we felt a sense of awe; the property is story-like with beautiful, mature trees that provide wonderful shade. The cabin sits up on a knoll and feels miles away from reality. Quiet, peaceful, private and perfect! This incredible place is quite simply magical. As an event planner, I appreciate details and it is quite evident that no detail was spared; Sean and his family have poured a great amount of love into the space. The cabin is quaint and perfect for two couples or a small family. The kitchen is well-appointed with the necessities to prepare meals. We cooked up a storm and even baked some creme brûlée. The beds and bedding were of very good quality, comfortable and cozy; we slept so soundly with the windows wide open to take advantage of the wonderful, cool evening breeze. The cabin is very, very clean and has all the comforts of home including air conditioning, though I highly suggest opening up doors and windows to allow the cool breezes to flow through the space. The picnic table under the tree became our favorite spot; we quickly developed a routine of lunch and dinner under the tree, while breakfast and dessert were consumed at the fire pit. There are so many interesting facts about the property and we had the honor of meeting Sean who made the time to come to our rescue when we noticed an issue with our vehicle tire. Sean walked the property with us and answered our many questions. We are still smiling and look forward to visiting this very special place for years to come. Sean and daughter, Emma, are excellent hosts, responsive, hospitable, kind and most importantly, very welcoming. We cannot thank them enough for a most perfect getaway.”
