Stayed in Dreamy and Ethereal. Both lovely spaces. Hosts very helpful. Loved the tranquil surroundings and resaca with nice birds. For me there were 2 negatives, super soft beds which I know some people really like. My back doesn't. :). Other is about a 50/60 yard walk which is hard carrying heavy camera gear and groceries.

Wow I just cannot recommend Peculiar Nest enough! I was in Texas for birdwatching and I really hardly even needed to leave the property. It is private, gorgeous, the hosts were friendly and kind and always responsive. It felt like you were away from the city even though things were only a few minutes drive away. We were sad we only had 2 nights to stay there! Absolutely gorgeous property, both the outside grounds and the actual rooms. You can tell a lot of care is taken to make guests feel comfortable and at home. Next time I’m in the area I will more than likely stay here again, hopefully with a bit more time to spend!

Our stay was better than we imagined. Self Check-in was easy. The accommodation was modern, clean and cozy. The hosts were kind, responsive and informative. The property was magical and well designed. As a casual bird observer I caught a little spark of the “birder’s” passion. With no binoculars or camera I highly recommend the Merlin Bird ID app, which records ambient bird sounds and identifies the birds and provides information on each species. Being from Oregon I enjoyed meandering the grounds and studying the local desert flora. I’ve never seen cotton plants before, or Mexican ponytail trees and naturally occurring air plants. A peaceful nature oasis that we will definitely return to next time we are in McAllen. Thank you!

We had a fantastic stay at the Birdhouse! The home was spacious, comfortable, clean, cozy, and well-equipped, making it perfect for our family getaway. The location was peaceful and relaxing, with easy access to all the shops. The thoughtful touches, such as the welcome basket, well-stocked kitchen, and comfortable beds, made our stay even more enjoyable. Our entire family loved the lake, the grill, and green spaces, we felt right at home. The host was incredibly responsive and welcoming, ensuring we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We really recommend the Birdhouse and look forward to returning in the future!

We had the most amazing stay at Peculiar Nest. We were here for a birding vacation and felt like we were in our own private tropical oasis. Everything worked together to create such an unforgettable trip, including the gorgeous lakeview, the amazing variety of birds, the cozy bedroom complete with any amenity that we needed, and so much more. The hosts were so friendly and gave us the best restaurant and outing recommendations. We sincerely hope we can visit again someday - it was simply magical!
