How Co-Host payouts work
Hosts can set up Co-Host payouts to share payouts with a Co-Host on Airbnb. They can choose to share a percentage per booking (with an optional minimum amount) or a fixed amount per booking. Payouts may be set up for Co-Hosts with any permissions. Some limitations may apply based on the Host’s or Co-Host’s location.
How it works
Only the Host who is the listing owner can set up payouts for a Co-Host. Co-Hosts cannot set up payouts for themselves or for other Co-Hosts.
Once a Host has set up a Co-Host payout, the Co-Host has 14 days to confirm or decline. If the Co-Host declines but would still like to receive payouts, the Host can send a new proposal.
Once a Co-Host confirms their payouts, they'll be able to start getting payouts for bookings after guests check in. Any updates a Host makes to existing payouts will only apply to the Co-Host’s payouts for bookings that start after the Co-Host confirms the update.
To get paid, all Hosts and Co-Hosts must set up at least one payout method, and, where required, verify their identity and submit any taxpayer information.
What payouts are included
Hosts can only share payouts with a Co-Host for guest stays on Airbnb. Experience bookings, Host damage protection reimbursements, and Resolution Center payouts, for example, aren’t included.
When you’ll get your payout
Both Host and Co-Host payouts will be sent about 24 hours after the guest checks in, and the Host or Co-Host’s payout method will determine how long it takes for them to receive the money. Learn more about the average processing time for each payout method.
If the reservation is a monthly stay, we’ll send the payout for the first month about 24 hours after the guest checks in, and we’ll send payouts monthly for the remainder of the guest’s stay.
Where to find your payouts
Once a booking is confirmed, you can find the Co-Host payout amount in your Transaction History. Learn more about finding your payout information.
How payouts are calculated
Co-Host payouts are calculated based on the amount of the Host’s potential earnings for each booking.
To calculate the Host’s potential earnings for a booking, multiply the nightly price by the number of nights, and add any additional charges to the guest, like a cleaning fee. Then subtract the Host service fee and, if applicable, other taxes and fees.
Co-Host payouts are then calculated using Host’s potential earnings amount per booking and the payout option set up by the Host: percentage per booking (with optional minimum amount, if specified by the Host) or fixed amount per booking. Learn more about how payouts are calculated.
Important: If the Host’s potential earnings amount is not enough to cover Co-Host payouts, Co-Hosts may receive a payout that is less than they expect. Additionally, depending on the payout options and amounts shared with Co-Hosts, the Host and some Co-Hosts may receive partial or no payouts, particularly when payouts are set up for multiple Co-Hosts. Find out more about payout exceptions.
Taxes and payouts
Co-Host payouts will not impact the amount which will be reported to the listing owner for tax information reporting purposes. Listing owners will receive a tax document on the full booking amount, and Co-Hosts will receive a tax document for the amounts they receive as specified by the listing owner.

Payout exceptions
When the Host’s potential earnings amount is greater than the sum of all Co-Host payouts, Co-Hosts will be paid first, and the Host will receive whatever remains. In some cases, either a Co-Host or the Host might not receive a payout, or will receive less than expected.
When fixed amounts exceed the Host’s potential earnings amount
If the Host’s potential earnings amount for a booking is less than fixed amount payouts to Co-Hosts, the entire potential earnings amount will go toward the Co-Host fixed amounts. The Co-Host(s) may receive a payout that is less than the fixed amounts or no payout. This may also result in the Host not receiving any payout. If there are multiple Co-Hosts with fixed amounts, the Host payout is shared with Co-Hosts in order from highest fixed amount to lowest.
When minimum amounts for percentage payouts exceed the Host’s potential earnings amount
If the Host’s potential earnings amount for a booking is less than Co-Host minimum payouts, the Co-Host(s) may receive a payout that is less than the set minimum amount(s) or no payout. This may also result in the Host not receiving any payout. If there are multiple Co-Hosts with set minimum payouts, the Host’s potential earnings amount is shared with Co-Hosts in order from the highest minimum payout amount to lowest.
When fixed amounts, percentages, and set minimum payouts exceed the Host’s potential earnings amount
If the Host’s potential earnings amount for a booking is less than the sum of all Co-Host payouts set up, the Co-Host(s) may receive a payout that is less than those amounts or no payout. This may also result in the Host receiving no payout.
Starting October 12, 2023, if 2 or more Co-Hosts payouts are set up on a listing, the order of payouts will change, as described in this section.
Starting October 12, 2023, if 2 or more Co-Hosts payouts are set up on a listing, the Host’s potential earnings amount will be shared with Co-Hosts in the following order:
- Percentage of booking, in order of the highest amount to lowest amount
- Fixed amount per booking, in order of the highest amount to lowest amount
Any amount that remains after Co-Host payouts will be paid to the Host.
Example of payout order starting October 12, 2023:
Percentage per booking | Fixed amount per booking | Sharing order | Payouts for scenario 1: $150 Host potential earnings | Payouts for scenario 2: $300 Host potential earnings | |
Co-Host 2 | 25% | - | 1 | $37.50 | $75 |
Co-Host 3 | 20% | - | 2 | $30 | $60 |
Co-Host 1 | - | $100 | 3 | $83.50 | $100 |
Host | - | - | 4 | $0 | Remaining $65 |
Prior to October 12, 2023, when payouts are shared with 2 or more Co-Hosts, the Host’s potential earnings amount will be shared with Co-Hosts in the following order:
- Fixed payouts, in order of the highest amount to lowest amount
- Percentage payouts with minimum payout amounts, in order of the highest amount to lowest amount
- Percentage payouts with no minimum payout amounts
Any amount that remains after Co-Host payouts will be paid to the Host.
Example of payout order prior to October 12, 2023:

Co-Host 2 | 25% | $10 | - | 2 | $37.50 | $75 |
Co-Host 3 | 20% | - | - | 3 | $12.50 | $60 |
Host | - | - | - | 4 | $0 | Remaining $65 |
When a guest cancels
All booking-related payouts owed to the Host are treated the same for the Co-Host, even if the Host ends up only receiving a portion of the payout, due to a cancellation.
For example, if a $150 booking is canceled and the Host’s potential earnings amount for that booking is updated to $50—and if the Co-Host payout is $50 per booking, then the Co-Host will get $50 and the Host will get $0.
When a Host or Co-Host cancels after check-in
If a Host or full-access Co-Host cancels a guest’s booking after payouts have been sent by Airbnb, we’ll deduct the refund amount from future payouts until the full amount is collected. This means that Co-Host(s) or the Host might not receive a payout, or will receive less than expected. Hosts and Co-Hosts can find this reflected as an adjustment on their transaction history.
