Quirky, cozy, and thoughtfully designed, the Farwig is a spotless studio in a historic Central West End building at McPherson and Euclid. Available for stays of 31 days or longer. Weekly housekeeping included.

The space
The Farwig is a studio where all of life happens in one well-designed room — kitchen, living, sleeping, working — and it just works. You'll find a queen bed, a kitchen with gas range, refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker, dishes, pots, pans, and linens, plus excellent lighting, high-speed internet, plenty of outlets, luggage racks, and overhead storage for your luggage. A smart TV with local antenna channels is included. There's a hair dryer, iron, and ironing board.

The spacious bathroom is a standout, with an original deep clawfoot bathtub (shower option too) and a medicine cabinet dating to the late 1920s or early '30s — around the time the Cambridge was converted from a 12-family luxury apartment building into its current configuration of no-two-alike studio apartments.

We stock the Farwig before your arrival with welcome teas and treats, freshly roasted coffee, and light breakfast items. You'll also find complimentary toiletries (soap, shampoo, conditioner, Q-tips) and cleaning supplies. Please note that we don't replenish these during your stay.

LOCATION
You don't need a car while you're here. The Farwig is footsteps from restaurants, coffee houses, and one-of-a-kind shopping along Euclid. Walk to three supermarkets (Aldi, Straub's, Whole Foods), Forest Park and its institutions (Zoo, Art Museum, Steinberg Rink), Washington University Medical Center and Barnes-Jewish Hospital, and the World Chess Hall of Fame. Metrolink, the regional rail system, is a short walk south on Euclid — from the Central West End stop it's 20 minutes to Lambert Airport and an easy ride to the Gateway Arch.

IS IT SAFE?
Since the Farwig is in the heart of the city, we occasionally get this question. Co-owners Rachel and Karen live within walking distance of every SF Shannon apartment. They and their spouses raised their kids in the city, and have always felt safe and at home here.

WHY THAT NAME?
The Farwig is named after August Farwig, who may be the original owner of the Cambridge, the three-story historic building where the apartment is located. City records show he sold it on November 14, 1906. We believe the building was constructed around 1900, in anticipation of the 1904 World's Fair held nearby in Forest Park.

Guest access
The apartment is all yours! The Farwig has smart lock keyless entry — no keys to worry about, pick up, or return. The apartment is on the third floor, accessible only by stairs.

Other things to note
The Farwig has central air conditioning with its own thermostat. Winter heat comes from the building's original steam radiators, fed by a central boiler that runs one to six times daily depending on the forecast. The radiators may clank when the boiler kicks on. This is normal; it's the soundtrack of a historic building.

Upon booking, you'll receive a link to your information page and SF Shannon's vacation rental policies. Creation of a reservation indicates acceptance of our house rules.

No pets. No smoking anywhere on the premises.

LAUNDRY & HOUSEKEEPING
Use quarters or an app for the laundromat in the building's upper lobby.

Weekly housekeeping is included. We make the bed with fresh sheets, swap out towels and linens, dust, and vacuum. Housekeepers do not wash dishes or take out trash.

PARKING
Free on-street parking is available on the block in front of the building. The Central West End's restaurants and bars make it a destination neighborhood, so spots can be harder to find on evenings and weekends. You may need to circle the block, but most guests don't report much trouble.
