Vacation rentals with a kayak in Benzie County

Our family and small dog came up for a long weekend to enjoy the slush run cup at Crystal Mountain. Bryce’s place was clean and comfortable from the start. We had an issue with something when we first arrived, but Bryce was responsive, helpful, and proactive. Traveling with kids and pets can be such a challenge, and it’s helpful to have a host who is sympathetic to that stress. Once we got that resolved, we settled into cooking in the nice kitchen and enjoying the back deck and hot tub (favorite part!). Even though the main road out front is busy, the backyard is peaceful and comfortable. Loved the first warm ups of spring there! Beds were super comfortable and we slept great( we have a sleep number at home so we’re picky!). A separate water cooler for drinking water was awesome! The tv in the living room was so fancy and the couches were clean, newer, and very comfortable for our whole family to watch movies. Check out was a breeze, no long list of chores! Thanks so much!

We love crystal lake and this cozy place reminded us of what could’ve been granny’s lake house with a updated twist. Made us want to just move right in and live there. A weekend stay was not long enough by any means.

We so enjoyed our family trip here! It felt like a tree house upstairs looking out to trees and the lake. It was a cozy family room area. We had a great time kayaking in big Sanford lake. It was so peaceful on the weekdays we were there. Sometimes we were the only kayakers. It was close to Traverse City and we checked out Frankfort and Crystal Mountain too. Overall would recommend!

Part of me wants to give this home a negative review so that no one else discovers it! Perfect home. Perfect location. It was absolutely dreamy to be kayaking one moment and at the brewery listening to live music with an ice cream cone in hand 10 minutes later. The home had everything - well-stocked kitchen, toys for kiddos, comfy beds, kayaks, and beach toys. Could not have asked for more.

Our 4 person vacation group had a great 3 night stay at Shirley's beautiful lakefront home. The view was spectacular and the house was clean, neat, comfortable and perfect. Shirley and ray greeted us at check-in, walked the property and house with us, and Ray gave us area history, recommendations and a map showing the best local beaches, restaurants, hikes and wineries. This house is highly recommend.

Absolutely beautiful surroundings, right on the water. We would definitely return. We did notice somebody on the review mentioning the water being smelly, we did not experience that issue. We booked this last minute and couldn't have stayed here if they did not allow us to bring our small dog. We did notice a little hair from a previous pet that had visited but it didn't bother us probabaly just from the provided couch blanket. The cottage could use an update on some furniture but recent upgrades didn't go unoticed. Kitchen was all redone, carpet was clean and linens and beds were very comfortable. We did not utilize the shared private beach only steps from your back door, but to us, it does not offer much privacy from neighbors.

Great place on beautiful Upper Herring Lake. Good for kids and dogs and close to hiking trails and town (Frankfort). We would definitely consider renting again.

This is our third year staying at this location. We feel right at home. This year we did lots of hiking at all the Reserves and spent lots of time at all the area beaches! We also kayaked across the lake to Lake Michigan. It was private and beautiful. It is always hard to leave when our vacation ends. Pam is really great at communicating.

Our family of 6 adults, 3 children and an infant had ample room and a wonderful stay at Nortons. Our 3 grandchildren under the age of 7 enjoyed playing in the sand, fishing from the dock and playing in the shallow clear water. My adult children enjoyed using the 4 Kayaks and 2 paddle boats, there is a row boat but we never used it. Everyone enjoyed the board games in the evening. location was close to amenities, looking forward to visiting again in the future.

Very comfortable and well-equipped. Loved the hot tub but wished it has some sort shelving around it to set your drinks and towels on. Also, a simple update - replace the screen/season doors would be nice. The location was incredible, spent a lot of time in Frankfort and drove up to Glen Arbor. Great get away.

What a great place to stay! Super private and the views are extraordinary. I would recommend this to anybody looking to ski in the winter at Chrystal mountain as it’s only 20 minutes away. Will definitely come back!

Very spacious and comfortable place to stay. Wonderful location in Honor -- so convenient to Platte Lake, Platte River kayaking, Platte Beach, and the Sleeping Bear Dunes. Kodiak Cabin is nearest the road, so a bit of road noise, but the spacious cabin was well worth it.

From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by how super clean and well organized everything was. The fireplace adds the perfect touch. The host was friendly and provided great explanations for the furnace, fireplace and even the check out process. Beyond the cabin, the surrounding area is fantastic! Whether you’re hitting the slopes at Crystal Mountain or enjoying the little swing in the backyard, there’s plenty to explore. Thank you for the great short vacation. We will come back !!!

Huge deck with multiple places to sit. The view is incredible in the fall! Having free firewood was a nice perk.

Brian was a great host! Super friendly and helpful. The location is beautiful and there are so many fun local things to do! Definitely recommend for a weekend getaway!
