The house was perfect for us. Very clean and organized. Great host always responded in a timely manner. Was only about a 30 to 40 minute drive to Acadia National Park & Bar harbor, depending on traffic it could take longer. If we ever make it back to Maine I would definitely stay at the Higgins Retreat again. Thanks again Richard & Tina.

What a wonderful experience! Rebecca was an absolutely outstanding host, always quick to respond and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. My family and I had such a peaceful stay. The home and location were incredibly tranquil, perfect for a relaxing getaway. The house and property were absolutely beautiful, and we loved sipping our morning coffee on the amazing balconies with the breathtaking views. There is so much space, and every room in the house is well thought out, functional, and cozy. The pool is even better than we hoped, so big and clean and in immaculate condition. We spent most of our time swimming and relaxing by the pool. We also enjoyed playing pool and having so many rooms to gather in with the comfort of plenty of new comfy furniture. Highly recommend for anyone looking to unwind for a vacation away from all the noise and chaos of daily life. Every single area was as described in the listing and better. Thank you for an unforgettable stay!

My return visit to the Boathouse was even lovelier than I hoped it would be. The location can't be matched by anything else I've seen. I enjoyed a September visit with my dog and was lucky to have pristine weather. I lived a very simple and healthy outdoors life and came home the better for it. The Boathouse is true to its description: it is simple and rustic and uncomplicated but well-equipped, and is perfect for one-and-dog, or for two people. A little coming-and-going from the neighboring houses meant that I didn't feel isolated. Margaret is truly an exceptional and friendly host who communicates promptly and clearly. I almost hesitate to share "my" Boathouse location with too many of my back-home friends because it feels so intimate and special. I already want to be back there. I offer my deep thanks to Margaret and to the place that I could - briefly - call home.

Booked this place for our anniversary to get away from the city for a weekend.. we found exactly what we were looking for! The hot tub was wonderful, the house was clean and cute, and we had everything we could have needed! Estelle was very responsive and gave clear instructions for everything. Would recommend this place for a quiet getaway or a small group trip in the summer!

I recently stayed with my family at this incredible Airbnb that exceeded all my expectations. This property offered a hot tub, a pool table, and a level of privacy and tranquility that made for a truly relaxing getaway. One of the highlights of our stay was being able to watch the northern lights from the hot tub – it was absolutely magical. We spent a week in Acadia, and the location was perfect, just 15-20 minutes from Bar Harbor or the nearest town. The hosts were very responsive, and the place was fantastic for families, being both kid and pet friendly. It was a week filled with unforgettable moments, and I can't recommend this place enough!

Best location to Main Street, restaurants and water. Worked great for our family of 7. It appears the owners are in the process of doing some fix up and I hope they continue. There was some paint and brushes, sponges caulk left by front door and some other clutter in different rooms that could be picked up but overall 5 stars. For a family with small ones that need naps - just fyi, this home has very squeaky floors that may wake up kiddos from their naps or when adults go to the bathroom at night. We had to be very slow and careful walking around during sleep times. It is to be expected with the age of this home and the wood floors but just wanted to make families aware. Host was very communicative and helpful. Would stay here again!

Really enjoyed this trip we stayed. Michelle is welcoming and helpful for our check-in. Like the description mentioned is 10 seconds walk to the lake, and my dog enjoyed the time hangout on the dock. Even the weather is not the best to get into the water but we really like the lake view of the house. Location is perfect for anyone looking to go to Acadia and Bar Harbor, but don’t wanna pay thousands dollars per night.

We loved our stay here! Jana was very accommodating for 2 infants, helping us get extra supplies to make travel to the location easier. This location is perfect. Everything is walkable and you don’t have to worry about parking. Highly recommend. Easily the best air bnb we have stayed at.

Great communications and arrival instructions. The home was well prepared and clean. Everything was as described. There was plenty of room for our party of seven, and we loved the location: bike rental, coffee shop, restaurants on the same block, and the Bar Harbor businesses a short walk away. Also, a quick drive to all our favorite trails and sites in Acadia National Park. Would definitely stay here again!

If you’re debating booking this place, do it! The house feels brand new, super clean, has everything you need, and plenty of space to spread out. It’s feels like a real home, not just a rental. The views are phenomenal; we spent most evenings down by the water or on the deck. The area felt incredibly safe and you’re a quick 15-20 min from downtown Bar Harbor, which was perfect. Instructions on how to use amenities and who to contact if we needed help were clear. We had a rogue fire alarm go off one night and the emergency contacts and caretaker were able to help solve quickly and seamlessly. Truly, this home is perfect. If we’re ever in Bar Harbor again we hope to stay again!

What a place. So many great things to do. We swam and fished in the lake, the kayaks and canoes were so much fun and at night we sat by the fire pit and played table hockey.The house had everything we needed. The host was very responsive and answered all questions quickly.

For my husband and me this place was perfect! Simple, clean, very homey. The kitchen was well stocked with essentials (and more) and even spices, etc. We went to Acadia to hike and LOVED the location! Very easy access to trails, yet not too far for those who want to access downtown Bar Harbor. Allison was very responsive, kind, and helpful and gave us some great recommendations! We loved hiking Acadia so much and would love to return. If we do, we’ll definitely stay at Thelma’s Cottage!!

A group of us stayed at Camp Lamoine and were impreased with this property! It was close to Acadia National Park and other areas we decided to go. Spectacular yard and even had a place for a campfire! Comfortable inside and would stay again. Thanks!

This was such a wonderful property for my family -- beautiful and peaceful with lovely views. We loved spending our days out in the spacious yard, playing lawn games, sitting around the fire pit, and fishing, and eating all our meals out on the patio. Everyone left feeling very relaxed and happy. Thank you Pam and David for sharing your home!

This was by far one of the cleanest Airbnb’s we have stayed at. There are many other great attributes about the house, but I needed to state that one first! This place was amazing. It sits over looking the water, and every view from the living areas downstairs to the bedrooms upstairs had a spectacular view to look out at everyday! Even on the days it rained, the views were still lovely. We stayed with our two adult daughters and their husbands, so there were six of us. We never felt crowded. There is a dock that you can walk down to (a bit of a drop/climb, over 90 steps I believe), and most of our group enjoyed going down to the water. One of our son-in-laws is a fisherman and he caught some smaller mackerel off the dock (you need a license), and chose to throw them back. Also there is a family of seals that lives in the water right where the house is. There is a viewing scope on the enclosed porch and we were able to see them with that. Lastly, WiFi is limited as is cell reception.

This house is awesome! Located in waking distance to nature’s incredible beauty -Popham Beach. If you’re never been but are looking for a great Maine beach experience, this place is for you. The house is beautifully decorated, comfortable, cozy, and well stocked. We enjoyed multiple beach walks, hiked nearby Morse Mountain, improved our sand dollar collection, and watched the sea lions frolic during dinner at nearby Spinney’s restaurant. The fire pit and snores were a terrific ending to a great celebration of our Bowdoin College graduate We can’t wait to return!

Loved staying at the Treehouse! Anne was incredibly helpful ahead of our stay, sharing a number of great local recommendations for restaurants, activities, and hiking options. Very responsive leading up to and during our stay, which was great. The area is beautiful and location was great for us to travel all around Mount Desert Island.
