Family-friendly vacation rentals in Allegheny River

We went for a ski trip and the place was great! Large, comfortable, clean house that was perfect for our group (6 friends). Finding the home was slightly challenging as GPS didn't take us to the correct location at first, but the host provided written instructions for how to get there when picking up the key at another location. One thing to note, while you can ski-on to this unit (back from the lifts), you cannot ski-off as it's about 0.5 miles downhill from the nearest trail. The host told us that it was ski-on when asked, so we were expecting this, but figure I'd share here. Additionally, the shuttle stop was very close by and ran continuously during the weekend (and was available by calling during the weekdays). Overall, we were thrilled with our stay, and had a great weekend skiing.

Our stay was absolutely terrific! Rick was an incredibly attentive host, reaching out days before our arrival to make sure we were familiar with the entry system and had everything we needed for a smooth, stress-free start. We were welcomed with fresh flowers, a wonderful basket of snacks and a fantastic list of his favorite local spots, which we really appreciated. The home itself was spotless, beautifully maintained, and equipped with every modern amenity we could ask for. Rick checked in with us periodically to ensure we were comfortable and had everything we needed, without ever being intrusive. The location couldn’t have been better—nestled on a charming street in a lovely neighborhood, within easy walking distance to shops, restaurants, and essentials. It was a perfect home base for visiting the University of Pittsburgh and getting downtown quickly and easily. Highly recommend this stay—we would absolutely return!

Diana's home was exactly as described and the hot tub was an added bonus! She was such a thoughtful host- leaving breakfast items, snacks and drinks for us and our wrestlers for the long weekend. There were plenty of household supplies, including extra blankets and pillows. She was very responsive as well, overall we had a wonderful stay at Diana's home!

The perfect setting for a peaceful weekend getaway with some old friends. The property is spacious, the views are spectacular, and it’s also nearly the last house on the road so quite private. Highly recommend!

Phil is an amazing host and provides everything you need for a wonderful stay at Stanroph Cabin! It is beautifully kept, located on 9 acres of land (a rarity in this area), and has plenty of space inside as well (spacious living and dining areas, and generously proportioned bedrooms). Very peaceful, and wonderfully relaxing. The hot tub and fire pit are great amenities! If you are new to the Cook Forest area, it has many unique attractions to enjoy. Some of our family favorites include canoeing on the Clarion, ice cream cones at Pale Whale, the Trading Post, visiting Seneca Point, and climbing the Fire Tower. We have already rebooked for next year!

Our stay at Sunny Bunny blue was truly exceptional. Andi was incredibly helpful and went out of her way to make us feel comfortable and pampered. From the moment we arrived, she made us feel completely at home. The jacuzzi , sauna and gym were amazing additions that made our stay even more enjoyable. The house was cozy and inviting, and anytime we had a question or a small issue, Andi took care of it right away with kindness and efficiency. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommended — we would absolutely love to return!

We had a wonderful stay at Seven Springs! The place was spotless, well-maintained, and exactly as described. It was also very kid-friendly, which made our trip so much easier and more enjoyable. The owner provided five-star service—super responsive, thoughtful, and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. I highly recommend this spot for families or anyone looking for a relaxing and hassle-free getaway. Would definitely stay here again!

We stayed here for a few days to attend a memorial service The home was perfect. It was close to the event, a short drive to the city and very close to many shops and restaurants. The host , Karen, was helpful and responsive and also compassionate to The reason for our visit. Our pups loved the fenced back yard.

Great location, very walkable to shops/restaurants in town and also right along the main route of the wine trail. The inside has been updated to look modern while still maintaining a lot of charm. We visited in November so didn’t get a chance to enjoy the outside, but noted the nice fenced yard with fire pit and a covered hangout area which would be lovely in warmer weather. We really appreciated how well stocked it was with options to make any guest happy (coffee and tea, popcorn and blankets for a movie night, all kinds of games, dog supplies, etc.). The hosts really thought of everything, and I would recommend a stay here to anyone. We traveled as two couples doing the wine trail for a weekend, and it worked perfectly for us.

This property is spectacular! Fabulous hiking, huge pond, a basement filled with fun (pool, ping pong, air hockey, and SO many games). Even with less than stellar weather, we were able to fully enjoy the house and property. There are plenty of covered spaces to enjoy the stellar views and stay dry. The fireplace and wood (thank you!!) meant that we were warm and cozy for our stay. Thank you for sharing this lovely property!!

My girlfriend and I stayed one night in Cabin #3 at Edinboro Lake Resort, and it was absolutely perfect. From the moment we arrived, everything was effortless—check-in couldn’t have been easier. The key was waiting for us inside the cabin, which made settling in seamless and stress-free after a long drive. The cabin itself was spotless and incredibly comfortable. You can tell it’s well cared for—clean linens, cozy furniture, and everything we needed was right there. It had a warm, inviting feel that made us instantly relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. It was the ideal setting for a quiet getaway, and we only wish we had stayed longer. We’ll definitely be back—and next time, for more than just one night!

This was a great spot for a relaxing family trip or a friends get away! Lots of property in a private area with water for kayaking. We had a graduation family celebration for my daughter at Slippery Rock University and it was the perfect set up. The price is a bit high, but the house offers a lot.

My wife and I drove 1500 miles from Colorado to see her 96 year old dad in a nursing home....we were road weary and Michelle met us at the drive gave us a warm greeting and showed us her 8 acres horse farm and rental unit. The grounds were immaculate lush and had a 1,2 mile walking trail. She has two very friendly horses and treats for them in their barn...They walked with us when we hiked their pasture,,,fun! Michelle also has 3 free range chickens that roam the grounds and visit when sitting on her porch in her rockers ( We had one supper on the porch). watching the horses and enjoying a very quiet peaceful 5 day stay. We got to know Michelle and find she is one hard working pleasant owner that opened her home for us to use as our own . Now the most gracious host, 4 legged, was her cat Pumpkin( Miss P ) she visited with with us on the front porch showed us the gold fish pond and hopped in our laps to be petted ,welcoming, and gave the early morning bon voyage A great stay !

The house was very cozy, the hosts were very helpful, and it’s easy to get to the resort either by driving or on the shuttle.

Thanks to Samar for making our stay memorable as we were in State College to celebrate my son’s graduation. We had everything we needed and felt like home in this cute little apartment. Had lots of nature walks very close that provided an amazing opportunity to explore, experience and get our exercise at the same time. Very calm and relaxed place..Enjoyed it very much.

Great condo for a weekend ski trip to Seven Springs. The condo was comfortable and had everything we needed. It was located right on the shuttle line for the resort which was great, also a quick drive down if you don’t want to wait for the shuttle. Had a great stay and the price was excellent. Kim was also very easy to get in touch with and provided clear entry instructions at check in.

Very friendly person (Emily) offered to bring fruit tray and coffee in the morning because someone previously broke the Keurig coffee maker listed on the amenities. We declined but definitely appreciated the kind offer. She also has a nice shop where you can fulfill your sweet tooth with all kinds of pastries, pies etc... Had a very peaceful night watching the clear skies and hear the sounds of all the wildlife. Would definitely stay again.

The condo was beautiful, clean, and conveniently located with close proximity to the resort and available shuttle services. Barrett was always responsive. A great place to stay!

Second time renting with Michael. Would highly recommend. His home is great, very spacious, has all the amenities we could ask for. Will probably rent again next year!
