The property is located in a residential and commercial area. The historic old town plaza is within walking distance. Restaurants and all types of shopping are within walking distance. The rental is on approximately a half an acre with a spacious back yard. The space is great for a staycation, as a work from home alternative, or for families and also for a one or more day get away. DUE TO THE CORONA VIRUS, WE'RE TAKING EXTRA CARE TO DISINFECT FREQUENTLY TOUCHED SURFACES BETWEEN RESERVATIONS.
“Zenda's place is beautiful, well-appointed, and close to everything! I parked my car and was able to walk everywhere! It is spacious and has a full kitchen and two bedrooms, so great for two couples or travelers who might separate bedrooms. Highly recommend!”
The first official Earthship ever built back in 1979 is now refurbished for use as a nighty rental. It is called the “Hobbit House”. It is described as follows… * Eco-friendly house with all modern comforts and amenities. * Studio size with kitchen/living/dining and greenhouse with shower and toilet. * Wood burning fireplace and gas back up heater - very cozy * Sets on five acres of apple orchard two miles east of Taos Plaza
“As the first Earthship created, Hobbit House is the forerunner of the tiny movement and the environmental movement. Its rough -don't turn away or second guess-exterior belies the warmth, practicality, care, and comfort that lies within. It is a gem and a work of genius. Every detail teaches and will have you looking at how you use space. It is located just outside the downtown area of Taos and for there is no light pollution. We sat on the patio, oohing and aahing at the clarity of the night sky. When we retired, we slept in comfortable beds- snug and sound. Hobbit House is a gem.”

“Judy's place is the perfect place to stay while exploring Taos! So close to restaurants, coffee shops and the plaza. We loved using the amazing hot tub after a day of skiing. The house is equipped with everything you need to cook and even has extra toiletries! Plenty of space in each room and comfortable lounge areas. All directions on how to use things around the house are conveniently printed out - she's thought of everything! I would highly recommend staying here and I can't wait to come back and explore in another season.”
