  • Booked this place for Parent’s Weekend at Clarkson. I can’t emphasize the location enough. Was a 20-25 minute drive but totally worth it being able to wake up to the sunset over the river. Private, cozy - so relaxing! Will definitely book again!

Admire the ships as they pass by while sitting on the front porch having your morning or evening coffee/tea. Or perhaps cozy up by the fire with your favourite book. We are walking distance to the Upper Canada Playhouse & just minutes from Upper Canada Village. During your stay book a Head Massage or Reflexology on site. Tickle your taste buds with home baked treats freshly made daily.
Located along the beautiful Lakeshore of the St. Lawrence Seaway. So much history to enjoy. We are just a 5 minute walk from our local boat dock and beach. A short walk to the Upper Canada Playhouse. A ten minute drive to Upper Canada Village or Stone Crop Aces Winery.
  • Great stay accommodations, even better hospitality, and superb breakfast. An Airbnb take on the bed and breakfast experience!

  • Absolutely beautiful, clean home by the lake. Laura welcomed us into her home on last minute notice, and still went out of her way to make us feel welcome. Many thoughtful amenities, and little touches that made our trip feel like home.

    Allison2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • This was my very first AirBNB experience and what a pleasant one it was. Laura was very welcoming and hospitable and was always offering food - she is an excellent cook! The premises were very clean and tastefully decorated. The house is a riverside home built in the '40s looking at the St. Lawrence river across the road. There are 2 dogs on the premises, one being a very friendly and enthusiastic pointer-being a dog person myself, it was no problem. I would have no reservations recommending this residence!

  • Maria and Pieter are kind, warm-hearted, communicative and caring hosts. They welcomed us on very short notice and we felt at home immediately (especially our son, who quickly connected to the child-friendly atmosphere). The special touches were wonderful.

    Andrew2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay and would highly recommend this place. Maria and Pieter are delightful hosts, the space was clean and inviting, and there’s sheep outside to greet you :) The hosts are quick to respond to messages and very friendly upon meeting them. If you’d like your privacy, they also respect that too but I’d recommend the farm tour. We plan on returning if we get the chance, it was a great stay.

    Moira2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We were here on Valentines Day and it was really great experience. Maria and Pieter hosted us with warm heart! They were responding quickly to any questions we had. It was nicely organized clean space. We really liked the kitchen and drowning area. The wood fired fireplace made the experience even better. We are thankful to Pieter for showing his cattles and the creamery. We will visit again.

    Amrat2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Maria and Peiter are amazing hosts and we had a great weekend at their property. It's on the farm and we have been there once before and had so much fun that we visited them again. The farm animals are wonderful and would highly recommend visiting their creamery shop down the road. Home of one of the best tasting cream-top milk. Thank you for wonderful hospitality.

    Samina2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Really quaint place. Should be amazing in the spring/summer... Quite literally on a farm, sheep came to greet us by the fence as we were checking in. Just to make it clear, they were very quiet and we only heard them once or twice around the time we were checking out, I assume that it was approaching their feeding time.

    Theo2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Great host... Best place to spend a quite and peaceful time..

    Koushik2020-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at the farm for 2 weeks over the Christmas holidays. Pieter and Maria were incredibly accommodating and welcoming. Everything was excellent from the fresh eggs to the nightly fires in the wood stove to meeting the animals to the creamery tour and especially Pieter and Maria's hospitality and conversation. Not a negative bit more of an FYI : if you are used to city drinking water, well water might a bit different for you and you might want to bring a bottle of water for drinking. We will be back for sure! Thanks again Pieter and Maria!

  • Gail’s place is as clean as can be. She shares a beautiful home and is an extremely warm and welcoming hostess. It felt like I was visiting family

    Anne-Marie2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Gail met us at the door and personally welcomed us to her lovely home. The bedroom was quiet and nicely decorated, the bed was comfy, and there was a little sitting area right in the next room. The home is located in a small town Ontario, so there are not a lot of amenities around, but it is right across the street from the St. Lawrence Seaway and there is a lovely walking/biking path nearby and plenty of benches along the way. We discovered a lovely little labyrinth facing the water and behind the United Church nearby. We chose to stay for breakfast which was beautifully prepared and presented, and a wonderful start to our day.

    Debra2019-10-15T00:00:00Z

  • This place is amazing. It's got everything — beautiful views of the moon, nice views of the river, and of boats passing by. The kitchen is fantastic too! The artwork, and piano in the basement is gorgeous. The outside of the place has a gas hookup BBQ and fire pit if that's your thing. Would love to stay here again!

  • Amazing place. Beautiful private beach for our younger kids to play safely away from the big waves. Very clean space, comfortable beds and bedding. Very comfortable for three families (6 adults) and 4 kids. We all had our own bathroom. Million dollar view to wake up to. Very relaxing. Couldnt be happier. Thank you for hosting us

  • Perfect for relaxation. Private. Great location.

    Alicia2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • What a great spot, even better than the pictures! The beach area was the highlight for us, our girls loved hunting for crayfish and watching the cargo ships pass by. Lots of space to play outside, sandy area and shallow water. A nice dock to sit on and take in the sights. The kitchen is very well equipped and the view from the house is super with its nice large windows facing the river. We had a great time bbqing and having a campfire. The large bath with the jets in the bathroom off the master bedroom is super! Everything was nice and clean and welcoming. Great location, close to Morrisburg and the highway. The only improvement to make in this great house are the mattresses in the master bedroom upstairs and the one downstairs, it is difficult to get a good night sleep on them. Also the futon/couch downstairs is also very uncomfy. But other than that, all thumbs up from us :)

    Kristina2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • The house is located directly at the river/lake. We went swimming and canoeing and enjoyed the wonderful and big garden. When the weather was not so fine, we had a stunning view from most of the rooms (especially kitchen, living room and one sleeping room). In the kitchen we missed nothing and we also had a nice barbecue and campfire in the garden. We got to know some friendly people in the neighborhood, but if you like privacy you will find it here! Thanks a lot to Jeanne and Bill!

    Jutta2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time with 2 families here - including a 4 year old and a 1 year old. It was lovely using the canoe and swimming a bit in the river. There were a lot of fish and algae as well. The house was awesome and roomy. The surrounding areas were very quiet too. Also had a chance to visit Upper Canada Village - would definitely recommend!

  • I almost don’t want to submit this! I am from Northern NY and I know pickings can be slim for places to stay, but what a find! My sister and I didn’t want to leave. The location is so peaceful, the cabin is spotless, comfortable, and absolutely adorable. Sitting on the deck in the mornings with coffee and watching fish jump in the river was such an amazing break from our regularly hectic lives. There is no doubt I will be going back. Sharon was great, attentive, and thought of everything to make our stay comfortable. A true NNY gem.

  • Small town high ceilings used to be an old church they tell me. Really nice place uh great bed .

  • One of the reviews I read before booking was not to be put off by the exterior. That is so true! The apartment is wide open and wonderful! Check in was a breeze, Suzie communicated well and the fridge was stocked with eggs and condiments. There was plenty of coffee and cooking utensils. (Be aware that there is no grocery store in Cardinal. Stock up in Prescott or Iroquois). I had bicycled 50 miles so the hot water got a good workout and the bed was super comfy. This was a great stay. Again, don't be put off by the exterior. Suzie put all the money into renovating a great apartment.

  • This is a very warm and welcoming family. The house has some older charm. I slept well.

    Scott2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • Ina, Dan, and their two teenage children really make you feel at home. The room is right off the kitchen so you are not isolated from whatever the family is doing, but when you close the door it is very private. I enjoyed working at the dining room table and interacting with the family while I was working. I felt really pampered when Ina offered to make breakfast for me, and a sandwich on the evening of my arrival. I was very satisfied and got great value for my money.

    Steven2019-10-23T00:00:00Z

  • Candy and Pete are hands-down the best hosts you can experience. They have a clean and cozy place for you to unwind and rejoice a trip, with a great view of the St. Lawrence River from the bedroom. The breakfast is delicious and very homemade, best is that it is all inclusive. You will never be disappointed on anything at this place.

  • Great hosts and would recommend in the future!

    Peter2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really good time at Candy and Pete’s B&B. The house is located right in front of the water in a very quiet street. It was really relaxing and surrounded by the nature. The whole B&B was ours: 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 1 dining room. The bedrooms are spacious and very comfortable. It was very easy to communicate with Candy who has been lovely and accommodating our food diet. We had breakfast and diner at their place, food was homemade and delicious. Thank you for your kindness and warm welcome!

    Bénédicte2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place. Very clean and quiet. Candy and Pete have been wonderful hosts. We really enjoyed the prepared supper and breakfast, which were really good. We keep the address in our notes for a future visit in the area.

    Mickael2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice place. We were 5 and had 3 bedrooms at our disposal, which was very convenient and more than we had expected. Next to that we had a separate dining room. Pete and Candy are very welcoming people. They offered us to prepare supper in the evening and we didn't regret it! Simple but excellent meal. Moreover, the neighbourhood is very nice and quiet. Ideally located near Upper Canada Village, and in the evening you can do a nice walk near the shores of the St Lawrence.

    Olivier2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived at Candy and Pete's place late at night and they were graciously waiting for us until 10 pm when we got there. Rooms were very comfortable but it was so incredibly hot and humid, we had a very hard time sleeping although they had the window ope and a fan going... We only stopped for a quick sleep on our wau to US so in the morning it was just shower, breakfast and go! For breakfast, if you need eggs and bacon, you won't have the option even if you want to cook them, so keep in mind if you don't like the light cereal /milk, toast and peanut butter breakfast. Candy's flower garden is amazing, too bad we didn't get more time to enjoy it!

    Maria2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • quiet, beautiful view, everything you need is in the house, lovely attentions provided, meals are excellents. Kids were feeling as home, and beach is a few minutes ahead. Perfect!

  • Lisa's guesthouse was a perfect respite for my broomball teammate and I. It was very comfortable and close to everything we needed in Massena. Highly recommended for anybody looking to travel out that way!

    Jeremy2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa has a very clean and comfortable apartment on the Grasse River. We unexpectedly had to travel to Massena during a snow storm because my grandmother had passed on. Lisa cleared the driveway herself after the snowstorm and made sure we had a safe place to walk. We appreciated because my wife is 7 months pregnant. She left us nice little snacks and coffee and her space was very clean. Communication was excellent even with my spotty cell service. Thanks to Lisa we would definitely book again.

    Benjamin2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay! Cute spot that overlooks the river which is a great morning view! Lisa was very accommodating in any requests that were made and I would recommend this place to stay to anyone looking for quietness and comfiness!

    Jordan2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa was very accommodating, friendly, and is a great host! The space was clean and cute, and we will likely keep it as an option for when we visit Massena!

    Cailey2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great spot. Quiet with a nice view of the river and even a few turkeys running around on the lawn. The owners live on the property so are quickly on site if there are any issues, but the space is in a separate building from their home so there is still plenty of privacy. As a city resident in the area for work, I enjoyed the quiet of a dead end street. It was perfect for what I was looking for, and it is going to be a gem during the summer months.

Breakfast very convenient because self service and therefore without schedule. And in the bedroom, the bathroom and the "kitchen", everything is done for the comfort and the practice of the customers. Thanks to them. And we recommend this address

  • The home is really cute and cozy and comfy, nice view on the river and super comfortable bed. A lot of attention to the details from the owners, that provide a many pillows, towels and services. Everything was just perfect and I felt cuddled, there are books and board games available and the breakfast was just like a perfect home-made breakfast should be. • We had a wonderful weekend at this lovely chalet and the views on the St Lawrence were amazing. Even in the winter this was such a great getaway with a wood burning fireplace and big windows over looking the river. The snow started to blow and covered up the driveway and a quick phone call to Renee and she had a plow over to get us out of the driveway! Lots of space and the kids enjoyed exploring the loft and the finished basement area. Great hosts and great Chalet makes a for a great stay. Cannot wait to return to this special place!

  • We stayed one at night at Susie’s and it was exactly what we were looking for. We needed multiple rooms for us and our baby and the two main rooms were right next to each other but with a fairly soundproof wall so it was perfect for us. The unit was very clean and coffee was provided which is great. Check in was super easy, and parking was right in front of the door. The thermostat worked great and we could adjust it to our needs. There was no ambient noise from the street or the other units. It was a great stay.

We can often accommodate same day stays, message us for availability. We are surrounded by pine trees that provide a certain layer of privacy. There a two large yards and walking trails in our forest that guests can enjoy. The home is a bright, spacious, open-concept. Guests enjoy a space that is perfectly located providing them with privacy while at the same time giving easy access to the shared kitchen and living room area. We have 2 main floor rooms and a studio suite (lower level).
Our goal is to offer wonderful sleep accommodations to travellers. Multi-night visitors are welcome but we prefer to host guests that have things planned during the day so that we have our home to ourselves between 11 am - checkin. This gives us to time to do our housekeeping for our next guests. Please note that we have 3 separate spaces available. There are 2 main floor bedrooms that share 1 bathroom and a studio in the lower level that has a private bathroom. Each space is booked separately so if you need more than one room please make multiple bookings. One of the rooms is large enough to have a crib in it but you will need to contact the host instead of using the Instant Booking feature. The crib is available for a (minimum) 2 night stay. An additional set up fee of $25 will be added but again, you must make arrangements with us in advance to ensure our larger room is available. If you have your own portable crib you are welcome to bring it along. We recommend the studio space for people with children as it provides more privacy. There are decks at both the front and back of the house and guest are welcome to use the space to enjoy the outdoors. Use of the kitchen is acceptable but please don't plan to come and cook a full 3-course meal. We all share the kitchen so keeping things simple is appreciated and please remember to leave the kitchen clean and tidy for everyone to enjoy. We also provide bar fridges in each room for guest convenience.
We are located just minutes off of highway 401 at exit 730. Ottawa is about 45 minutes north. Upper Canada Village is east about 20 minutes. There is a golf course and beach located in the village of Iroquois. You will also find shops and restaurants at either Iroquois or more closely located, Cardinal.

Doran Bay is a picturesque, quiet and very laid-back spot to spend a few days of R&R. Sunsets, particularly in the fall, are simply spectacular. The views of the dam/lock and ships lit by night are truly unforgettable. Enjoy a campfire by the river while watching the ships sail past. Paddle yourself around the bay in one of our free canoes to catch a glimpse of a blue heron, loons, ducks, geese and other wild life.

  • Simla is an amazing host with a beautiful property. Her hospitality was over the top and the view from all of the cottages is truly outstanding. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. This place was also pet friendly which was amazing because our pup got to play by the lake. She also offers much detail into local events/places to go see and has a plethora of things to do on the grounds such as canoeing, having a campfire, and a pool! We could not have picked a more relaxing and better place to stay! I would highly recommend this property to any couples, families, or people travelling solo for a get away!

Our home is located at our StoneCropAcres Winery and Vineyard. You can contact us for more information about the winery. Our B and B is a country style, spacious, bright and clean home with wonderful views of the rural surroundings including our vineyard, farm fields, the llama ranch across the road and the apple farm just around the corner. Both the B and B and the winery are wheelchair accessible and there is an electric medical bed available for use in the fourth bedroom.
Our Winery and Vineyard and guest home is excellent for a family or friends getaway. For an extra fee you can arrange for a tour of our winery, a welcome cheese plate and wine tasting. Contact us for details. There is ample indoor and outdoor space to enjoy OR just a quiet getaway to get some creative juices flowing
Our home is located on a rural road that is just off of a highway. The neighborhood is rural and agricultural with our winery and vineyard located onsite, a beef farm, a llama ranch, cash croppers and an apple farm located on our road. The very popular and eclectic McHaffie Flea Market is 5 minutes up the highway from us and there are lots of treasures and artisanal goods to be found there. Upper Canada Village, Upper Canada Golf Course and Upper Canada Playhouse are all within a 5-15 minute drive.
  • Lots of comfortable space just off the 401 at a Cute Winery - for us was a great spot while home over the holidays

  • This is my second stay at the property. In cahoots with Harmony Concerts, Stonecrop Acres hosts a series of concerts not to be missed. They feature some amazing musicians, good food, and lovely wines; staying on site just makes it so much more fun. The house is huge and really set up well for entertaining a group of friends or family. Noreen has thought of everything and you are guaranteed a very comfortable stay. Lovely people and great hosts! • This place is amazing! The house has so much style, it’s all vintage but incredible well preserved. Plenty of space, great kitchen and utensils for cooking. We were a group of 6 and the 1.5 washrooms were plenty. Norene and her husband are so so nice! Super welcoming and accommodating. They talked to us for about their property, the area, the wine... the horses, the llamas from across the road. It was amazing! We met the three dogs that live in the property, which that is amazing too! My dog had a bit of a health issue while there and as Norene is a vet by trade, she helped me straight away! We will love to come back and see the place during the winter.

We can often accommodate same day stays, message us for availability. We are surrounded by pine trees that provide a certain layer of privacy. There a two large yards and walking trails in our forest that guest can enjoy. The home is a bright, spacious, open-concept. Guests enjoy a space that is perfectly located to provide them with privacy while at the same time giving them easy access to the shared kitchen and living room area. We have two rooms (main floor) and a studio suite (lower level).
Our goal is to offer wonderful sleep accommodations to travellers. Multi-night visitors are welcome but we prefer to host guests that have things planned during the day so that we have our home to ourselves between 11 am - checkin. This gives us to time to do our housekeeping for our next guests. Bed and breakfast truly describes our services. Please note that we have 3 separate spaces available. There are 2 main floor bedrooms that share 1 bathroom and a studio in the lower level that has a private bathroom. Each space is booked separately so if you need more than one room please make 2 bookings.

  • We loved it. Had an amazing stay, cant wait to come back in the summer! The resort is owned by a nice couple, it’s just off of St Lawrence river providing a beautiful view. You can watch the ships go by, enjoy a fire by the waterfront, also canoeing available. The cabins are well maintained, most have a deck. Fully furnished, BBQ included. TV with some cable channels and a DVD player. Location is great, between many tourist attractions. The resort also has a pool and ship museum (which sadly was closed for the season by the time we got up). Easy check in and out, no issues finding the resort. Our only complaint was there are no knives or cutting board for cooking. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay. As the resort gets busy would book ahead for “in season” dates.

Although the Elliott House is closed for the season we are taking reservations for the 2020 season and we will be re-opening 4/1/2020. Book your dates now. Bass Fisherman, please book your weeks once you know your dates. We can handle 4 to 5 rigs and can cater to your special needs. The Elliott House is perfect for groups of fisherman that travel and stay together while they are on the road. Pro Circuit is available College Championship is available Please contact me to book.
In the interest of the health and safety of all my guests, I’m asking everyone to answer the following questions before they book: In the last two weeks, have you or anyone you live with traveled to any areas that have been impacted by the coronavirus? Have you been diagnosed with, or suspect that you have contracted, the coronavirus? Do you currently have any travel restrictions in your area due to the coronavirus? If you answer "yes" to any of the above questions, please contact me before booking. We will no longer book reservations on the same day other guests leave. This will give us plenty of time to clean and disinfect the house thoroughly. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Elliott House was built in 1864 and sits on 5 acres of well-manicured lawn, flower beds and towering maple trees, yet only minutes away from the local universities. The house is surrounded by beautiful meadows and is only 4 miles away from the beautiful St. Lawrence River, that borders the U.S and Canada. All bedrooms are generously equipped with luxurious bedding with access to wireless high-speed internet and they all come standard with a healthy dose of historical charm, not to mention the ample views of wildlife in the fields. Although the Elliott House is 154 years old, it has been greatly updated to maximize your comfort while at the same time preserving a lot of the history and charms that will make you want to return again and again, like many of our past guests. It has been said to me that our pictures posted don't do us justice. The house has central air that cools the entire house..The Elliott House has a whole home filtration system so you can drink the water from the well and wash your clothes without worrying of staining them from mineral content found in some country homes. We also have bottled water delivered for your comfort. Our Vacation home is unique in that its initial purpose is to be our vacation home and when we remodeled the house, higher grade material and craftsmanship was used to give us the level of comfort we personally come to expect whether we are at our home in Pennsylvania or here in Madrid NY. With our level of comfort will come the piece of mind you will have knowing your stay will be a good one and hope you will return again. When you rent our home you will be the only people occupying it. There may be things in the cupboards and fridge, for experienced renters, might find odd, such as brownie mix etc, but feel free to use what is there. The Elliott House is great for families that like to make meals and spend time with their family When you open the door and see the 8 ft ceilings and beautiful hardwood floors that sweep pass the 7 ft double doors into the living room, it feels like stepping back in time. The living room has plenty of sitting area where you can congregate and watch TV or take in family time. The kitchen has all the utensils to cook a family dinner and a large dining room table where a good dinner and family can visit in comfort. The patio at the rear of the house is a great place to start and end your day while at the same time view the deer and turkeys that WILL show up during your stay. I love the mature Maples and the shade they make. Plan your perfect day trip to Lake Placid, Ottawa, or Montreal is only a short drive away. The Universities, Clarkson, St.Lawrence, SUNY Canton and SUNY Potsdam are only a stones throw away from the Elliott House. One thing my wife and I like to do is take a 20 mile drive to Heuvelton, which is an Amish community and enjoy the day shopping their roadside stands. You will find eggs, jams, vegetables, soaps, bread of all kinds, as well as various crafts. If you are looking for something custom made such as cabinets and furniture, they will take your order. We love Heuvelton and am sure you will too. We truly want you to enjoy your stay and have a great experience visiting northern N.Y. We love our home and are sure you will too. History: The home was once owned by Jim and Jesse Elliott and I was raised on the Farm across the road. Jim was a surveyor for the Gas company and Jesse was a housewife raising two girls. I always remembered how Jesse labored over her flower beds and had one of the best manicured yards in the North Country. No matter the season, you could always find a flower bed in full bloom...I always enjoyed the Lilac bushes.
Waddington is a stop on the BASS Master circuit with many of the anglers commenting on the best fishing that they ever experienced. One BASS Master angler said he has fished the circuit for over 20 years and never caught a 6lb Smallmouth until he came to Waddington. The St. Lawrence is also known for its many other species of fish and other wildlife. Waddington has a family of Eagles that nest by the golf course. There are public slips that can be rented from the town of Waddington for $10 per day. You don't have to take your boat in and out if you don't want to.
  • Came to Potsdam for my daughters graduation from Clarkson. The house was approximately 20 minutes from her school and worked out great. Very spacious and clean. We throughly enjoyed our stay as our host Steve was available with solutions to all of our questions. Thanks.

  • 100% top to bottom WONDERFULNESS! Easy to find, check-in was flawless and the place is excellent. We are 5 adult hockey parents, we shared the place for a tournament weekend on the Clarkson and St. Lawrence campuses. It's very convenient for getting into the surrounding towns and I'd recommend to university parents who come in with the whole family or a group friends for a visit. Stephen was great and answered all of our questions from the history of the house to where we should grocery shop. The place is very clean and comes stocked with just about everything you need for a great visit. We cannot wait for our return visit next year!

  • This house is such a real gem! The space is large and comfortable with modern amenities interspersed with antique touches. We loved waking up to the deer and birds in the meadow out back. At night, we would close the lights and stare at the countless stars. We played games one night, courtesy of the cabinet in the front room! We visited Watertown, Sackets Harbor, the Adirondacks, and Montreal. While each place was a drive away, the scenery was gorgeous and worth the drive. The sunsets are spectacular in shades of orange and pink. Definitely schedule an evening to sit and watch the sky change. Stephen was beyond helpful with timely communication and tips and hints for the house and the area. If you choose to reserve this house, you won’t regret it! I’m already hoping to come back...

    Dortheanne2019-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed here with my family and friends for an extended weekend. The house was perfect for our needs. Steve was a very responsive and helpful host. There were a number of nice amenities and personal touches, such as a fire pit, games, and a basket containing all the ingredients needed for some delicious pancakes! The space was comfortable, views were fantastic. We highly recommend this house if you are in the area, and plan on returning again soon!

Check in was a breeze and Meg had many special extras waiting for us like eggs, bacon, OJ and coffee. The location was very private but also convenient to the town of Potsdam. We would stay here again when visiting our daughter at St. Lawrence University.

Meg does an exceptional job at providing all the necessary amenities plus so much more! She really goes out of her way to create the perfect vacation environment!

  • We stayed for two nights in order to get my son up to SLU to start Fall semester. The location was perfect -about 15 min to SLU campus. The place is set back from the road, relaxing, private, and the yard is quite nice. Meg was very responsive and thoughtful with special touches like having food staples (eggs, milk etc. upon arrival) . The place is stocked -having everything we needed and more to cook meals and grill out. We hope to stay again in the future!

  • We needed to stay in the area to attend the commencement activities at St. Lawrence University. I wasn’t expecting much and was therefore surprised and delighted to find this hidden gem. We loved the decor and the privacy. Meg thought of everything to make sure we would be comfortable — from the refrigerator full of breakfast items and bottled water to the fruit platter on the table. We will return, even when we don’t have a graduation to go to!

Butterflies and hummingbirds are frequent inhabitants, delighting visitors. Guests can enjoy a complimentary breakfast, in the four season breakfast room. Weather permitting, guests often enjoy preparing a tray and taking their breakfast outside on the deck, or on the garden patio. Meal service is also available, including supper specials, take-away picnic lunches, 'tea-in-the-afternoon', and after theatre snacks. We are minutes from local attractions such as Upper Canada Village, Upper Canada Playhouse, the Iroquois Locks, several golf courses, municipal dock and boat launch facilities. About an hour's drive from the nation's capital, Ottawa, we provide a quiet get away after your busy sight-seeing day. The second floor of our home has been converted into the bed and breakfast area. There are three bedrooms available, with a shared bath. Complimentary breakfast is available in the four-season breakfast, also on the second floor. The largest room, The Captain's Quarters, overlooks the front gardens and the river. With double terrace doors, guests enjoy the sights, sounds and scents of our rural surroundings. Sunsets over the river are spectacular! The Captain's Quarters include a queen bed, seating and private dining areas. Watch the ships sail by, as you relax AND smell the roses! Other accommodations include: The Upper Canada Room is a quiet room, at the back of the house, and provides a great retreat. It includes a double bed, sofa and small private dining table. The Mate's Room is cozy but luxurious, with a queen size bed. The entire space is available for larger groups/families or those wishing more privacy. This is listed as The Admiral's Place. Guests will have access to: - their private bedroom accommodations - the breakfast room (continental breakfast available from 7am-10am - flexible arrangements may be personally arranged) available for relaxing with others, and enjoying snacks throughout the day and evening - private B and B only entrance - deck and patio area, with table and chairs for relaxing - 1/4 acre butterfly habitat gardens. 27 Roses is a certified Monarch Way Station providing host and nectar plants for Monarchs and a wide variety of butterflies, birds and bees. If you like, we will be happy to share our passion for gardening and Monarchs, with you! Interaction with Guests: We will be happy to share travel, ship watching and gardening tips with guests, on request. If you prefer a quiet get away, the gardens will be your private oasis. We share our home with two dogs and cats. However they have no access to the bed and breakfast area, at any time. 27 Roses is situated in a quiet hamlet, well suited to cycling, walking, jogging etc. Parking is included with your stay. We are about an hour's drive from the MacDonald Cartier airport, and 40 minutes from VIA train service in Brockville or Cornwall. MegaBus stops in Brockville.

  • Good spot if you want to enjoy a view of the river in a quiet place. Close to upper Canada village as well.

  • Really nice room with a comfy bed and lots of place. Next to the kitchen with lots of stock for breakfast.

  • Be sure to sit out in the garden. The butterflies float all around while the hummingbirds dash and zip around the flowers.

  • Candy and Peter were so wonderful. I needed to make a change to my reservation and stay on a different day. They went above and beyond to accommodate me and my son. Their BnB is beautiful and so cozy. It's also about a block away from a lake. We made a quick trip in town for snacks and then sat by the lake to watch the sun set. Afterwards, we played board games that were accessible in our room. Candy made a delicious breakfast. This would be a perfect place for families or a romantic getaway.

  • Our stay with Candy and Pete was as nice as the first time some days before. Friendly, always willing to help and to make the stay as comfortable as possible. If we would come around in this area again we would for sure stay again here. Chatting with both is always good!

  • Love 27 Roses B&B, tidy room with beautiful view in a quite neighbourhood. I followed the hint in other reviews and booked meal service which is so great, no need to search for dinner place after a long day. It's enjoyable talking to the hosts and I even learn the story about sleep tight, yes, interesting for non-native speaker. Also make friends with other guests, such a good place.

We can often accommodate same day stays, contact us for availability. Our bed and breakfast offers guests a comfortable, clean relaxing place to stay. We have a total of three bookable spaces including this suite. We are typically around the property but we aim to let you do your own thing. If we are in the kitchen we can certainly share stories and tell you about activities you shouldn't miss while you are in the area but for the most part you can expect to be left to have your privacy.
There are 2 main floor bedrooms that share 1 bathroom and this studio in the lower level that has a private bath and living room. Each space is booked separately so if you need more than one room please make separate bookings. We recommend the studio space for people with children as it provides more privacy. The room is large enough to have a crib in it but you will need to contact us instead of using the Instant Booking feature. The crib is available for a (minimum) 2 night stay. An additional set up fee of $25 will be added but again, you must make arrangements with us first. If you have your own portable crib you are welcome to bring it along. There are decks at both the front and back of the house and guest are welcome to use these spaces to enjoy the outdoors.
Our rural neighbourhood is very quiet. The Iroquois locks, beach and marina are located only minutes away. There are a couple spots to grab a bite to eat but be prepared to drive if you want variety. Pizza delivery is available but our local restaurants are closed by 9PM so if you need to have supper be sure to keep this in mind.
