Has a lakeside setting, Outdoor kitchen, 4 burner Gas BBQ, Big Wood Stove, a computerized furnace, DISH TV and a dishwasher. A Really Cool very Rustic Camp centrally located for 4 Season fun and other Maine attractions. Not only hiking and biking nearby, close enough to drive to both ocean, hiking trails, and ski lodges. Plus other sports like: snow tubing, X country ski, ATV.. or walk/ snowmobile from yard, lake or road onto nearby trails plus more. Very convenient.. too much fun to imagine! Or just plain veg. out and just plain do relaxing, cook, play games, watch old videos during cooler/wetter weather times, or go eat out! "WE REST YOUR TOES WHILE YOU REST YOUR (URL HIDDEN) this comfortable, perfectly imperfect sort of cluttered ole camp!" Only 3/4 hr. No. of Portland, ME. USA (Portland is a granola-like, ocean side city with a Jet Port) What to do? Lots: This popular.."perfectly not perfect, little ole camp" is on a nice LITTLE lake, that fast freezes, in the winter; unlike Thompson and Sabago lakes. IT IS NOT CROWDED WITH BOATS or jet skies, IN THE SUMMER EITHER. Since it is centrally located in Maine ...the drive times to attractions are 05 minutes to about an hour and a half +/-. At the camp: water play, row, canoe, beach, fish, wood fires, (scubba diving/wind sailing lessons booked ahead.) Inland you can hike, bike, go climbing or snowtubing, x country ski/snowshoe on Carters X country ski trails (15 kilometers of trails-with a warm up lodge, store and equipment rentals.) In addition...Ski nearby at 7 locations: Lost Valley, Shawnee Peak, Conway (Tourist Shopping, Mtn. Climbing and Ski Cranmore Mtn.,) Mt. Abrams, Sunday River Ski Resort, a day trip to Sugarloaf Mtn. is hearty; but I go, and it is my favorite resort and ski area. Snow Tubing is down the road a piece. It can be fun at night too; if coming in Fri night from the South, you can snow tube enroute in Windham, ME. At the camp, right out the door of my camp... I walk, x country ski or snow shoe on the lake, the dirt roads, or into the forest. You can snowmobile from here too, to the Casino, they say. There are some snowmobile woods trails- a short quick drive or walk up Rt 11 from my driveway. The snow mobile trails are usually packed and good for walking/snowshoeing/or X country skiing a few miles too.. I can also go skating if someone clears the ice off. Outside on the lower deck is a deck side fireplace chiminea, for sitting around on cushioned lawn chairs and basking in the summer or winter sun. Being on the lakeside in any season is so..beautiful when the sun pours in, to relax. There are many local restaurants (5 min. pizza, half hour/hr. almost anything you want) within many driving times for decent food so you do not have to cook in all the time. Yet, I have a fully equipped kitchen and there are three grocery, convenience stores, etc. 10-20 minute drives. Inside the Nature Lover's Paradise camp, enjoy: Dish TV, and a great big video library. Play video, DVD and music CD's, lots of games and cards, a grecco crib, kids toys. Feed a cozy wood stove. WIFI and modern appliances? YES! Hope this begins to help with your planning. A lot more description details follow. The place easily sleeps four, has 7 beds (3 beds sleep 2 people.) The cost is up to 175 per night and sometimes lowers (May 2016 through April 2017) plus a 65 cleaning fee. A 100 deposit is held on your cc about a week before arrival. When you book, you pay in full by cc plus some small AIRbnb fees. Since I do not know those air fees I can not quote them to you. Look for Air fees on the screen. After staying here, If you thought this camp is or is not a good value, I hope you will let me know?! At initial inquiry, please include your estimated number of guests. Note, after you book it, I can alter your number of people and pricing up, if your initial planning numbers are too low. ( ie: before arrival that day- if more people are going with you..it is ok, just communicate about it with your Host upon arrival.) Note: If the Air calendar says the dates are available feel free to book it without asking me first. If I have a rare issue I will simply Decline the booking and or do a discussion with you. If you can not pay now, ask your Host to reserve the dates. OK? Thank you! More planning details: You have just discovered a 1907 East Shore piece of PARADISE in the famous Poland Spring Area of Maine, USA. It is a cozy 1907's renovated camp; surrounded by "old growth pines and water." It is easy to get too. It's situated on popular Tripp Lake. On maps Tripp Lake is referred to as "Tripp Pond" But locally everyone calls it Tripp Lake. It is only a 3/4 hour North from Portland, it's 10 minutes from a Casino, and 15 minutes plus, to many attractions. (more details further on) For 67 years, our family's camp has slowly been maturing into a nicer little cottage, resting its old timbers only 22 feet from the water/ice. A "Great Place" for booking your vacation week, short stays, week end getaways or retreats. More about what to do there? This camp is centrally located between several great places: The drive time is 05 minutes to about an hour +: You can snow shoe on the Carters X country ski trails nearby (15 kilometers of trails , and 2 hrs. to Sugarloaf for Regee week end in late March/April spring skiing times! Many concierge services can also be available with pre-discussion and agreed upon additional fees. ie: Cooking, pick up at station or Casino .....just inquire, discuss and pay. How could I help you relax and safely arrive in a strange place to you? RELAX is the word here. Easy Does It! Enjoy the OUTDOORS and the hu ge old wood stove's heat for fun. For some people the brain shift to doing some camping and breaking the everyday routine is relaxing. This fun and funky place can do that for you, but you will have to leave the critic at home and bring a sense of humor: there are bugs, electric switches in strange places and clutter so do not tell the world in a review, please. If you are reaading this, the world already knows. Please do not hurt my ratings with criticisms...please go someplace else if you do not want a nice, campy, feeling! I do not advertize Luxury, I advertise Funky! This Lakeside camp feeling includes: THE site for EASY CAMPING METHODS: running lake water, hot running water, shower and tub, modern appliances, soft carpeting, wood beams, wood stove, computerized furnace, many beds and a lot more. "Lets camp and, deal with camp kind of stuff-just do something different! " LET"S HAVE SOME DYNAMICS! It is so PERFECTLY "not perfect," camping with the "fun in funky" that's still alive. Think of this central location this way: This "Nature Lovers Paradise-Lakeside" location is a four-season rest and recreation camp. You can easily STAY and PLAY or Go and PLAY. You can STAY and swim, water ski, canoe, kayak, hike, bike, ATV/UTV, X Country ski, skate, BBQ, cook, read ... do a lobster feed etc. Or GO AND PLAY to nature walks/golf at the Poland Spring Resort's course, walk the Preservation Park Nature Trails, do Agriculture Family Fun stuff, eat out, summer playhouse theaters, gamble at Oxford Casino, tourist shop Freeport, Portland or Conway, Portland Lighthouse, drive to the OOB pier & ocean/arcade, do snow sport day or night ski trips to Sunday River, Sugarloaf Ski Resort (s), Shawnee Peak, Lost Valley, Conway, tourist the White Mtns (N.H.), go to Fryeburg Maine's huge Country Fair (end of Sept), Plus, close to the cottage is the Poland Spring's STATE PARK big sandy beach(URL HIDDEN) Today Non Potable Water: Though certainly "A Chef's Paradise for cooking supplies" and cooking gear....we are used to the camp's cooking and showering with, but do not tend to drink, the LAKE WATER though; right now. The Owner Does Supply lots of fresh spring water... or feel free to bring your own label. This cottage and its running tap lake water is located on top of the famous and pristine Poland Springs aquifer's healing waters area. This camp is named "Nature Lovers Paradise- Lakeside!" You would be staying at a site between lake water, with a camp and other buildings with wood piles and stuff. It is up on slightly higher ground from the lake. A vernal pool: with bullfrogs, fairy shrimp and a bird sanctuary are behind the camp. Eventually, way out back are woods and higher ground. It is a somewhat of a perfect Feng Shui landscape site for resting. For summer, keep in mind that due to many breezes people say "this is NOT a "mosquitoes galore " buggy kind of place at all. All camps have bugs. But we are not one of the real buggy kind at all. Yippee!! Enjoy all kinds of Nature's critters and plants. Fish from the dock, and if you see a flea inside, feed it to a frog outside. (Just kidding of course.) Be real about camping expectations though. Please arrive and depart with an attitude of gratitude about Nature's little creatures. Try to leave your professional critic at home or in the office. The owner humbly wants you to know that simply due to the NATURE OF CAMPING please come prepared for a "true nature of camping." It is not perfect or uncluttered here. There is no tar, or grass to mow here. If you are a "tuned in reality camper," then great! The cottage yards are not only bright in the morning, as it faces East for Morning sun, it faces West where Sunsets are Born. The clutter is part or the character and decorations. Enjoy, Nature Lovers Paradise Lakeside... With its' East Shore setting...159' waterfront beach area, a dock, canoe, kayak, typical sandy bottom, lake grasses, sandy beach in season, fishing and lakeside views. Relax with 3 DECKS/ 5 grills: one large deck on the West side with charcoal and gas BBQs, a gas hotplate and running water double sink, an East side deck with a breakfast cafe table and charcoal BBQ. The 3rd lower level deck over the waterfront area (or skating rink,) has a deck fireplace and chairs. The lake and wharf style dock accommodates your water ski boat. Plus a big lakeside fire-pit gives the wood burning smells of camping.Yet, indoors the modern gas range ups your camp into a fully equipped cottage kitchen. Atmosphere Description: A single lane, wooded, private gravel drive curves toward the camp in a family, vacation minded neighborhood. Professional, family style NEIGHBORS, other renters, and the workshop, sauna, ice fishing house, and owner's bunkhouse/office- studio are close by. People, including the owner, quietly come and go. Synopsis: It is a private driveway, yet there are other buildings and people nearby doing stuff: campfires, fishing, swimming, boating, relaxed campfire talking, laughing, fireworks, children noises and mostly pretty quiet fun playing around types of activities. It is a "close/caring" and friendly neighborhood type of atmosphere, with weekly changing groups of company. In addition are the joyous sounds of the ELITE "Tripp Lake Camp" from across the lake during July and August only. Your yard/beach area feels pretty private in relationship to the many buildings around it. You are not in the wilderness. But if you want total privacy/wilderness...See my 2nd camp in Buckfield, Maine USA listing on Air...Nature Lovers Paradise - Mountainside! Right now approaching Summer it is very quiet. Summer and the forth of July week is the noisiest. Though a private setting, due to large yard and 156" total property beachside, it is usually a lot more quiet Sunday night on, during the week and after Labor Day weekend through leaf peeping season. • Trudy was an amazing host. Her place was perfect for a weekend of relaxation. I will definitely be visiting again next summer!

  • My wife and I were looking to have an anniversary getaway and tried Air BnB for the first time. We were looking for a cabin to rent near nature and scenic views. This was the perfect match! We were blown away by how friendly, nice and helpful Trudy was. She was very hospitable and provided us with everything we needed for a comfortable stay in her lake cabin. We loved the cozy and warm feel of the cabin and enjoyed the funkiness of it. The lake was incredible it was an amazing view by the fire watching the sunset every night. We also enjoyed the great seafood Maine has to offer nearby and in Portland. When we wanted a home-cooked meal everything was available in the kitchen (pots, pans, seasonings, extra snacks). We both even reminisced and played our childhood board games and had fun playing the piano when it was raining. We enjoyed the fun decor and every corner had something interesting. My wife and I are definitely coming back to enjoy the lake during the warmer seasons and cannot wait to kayak and fish! We are also looking forward to renting her other cabin in Buckfield for a more secluded feel.

  • We spend two days here, it a great place for families or friends. The host Trudy was so nice, she spent one hour to introduce the place and how to use the fire stove to us. You can find everything you need in this house such as cooking equipments, comfortable pillows and blankets. Also I forgot to bring a crib for my baby and Trudy offered me one. Plus, this place is easy to find, and it's ten mins drive to Walmart. Overall, we had a very memorable experience here! Strongly recommend!

    Yuqian2017-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Trudy is a wonderful person, we enjoyed so much her cottage and I would definitely recommend this place especially for its great landscape. I hope to go back soon.

    Ilaria2014-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is our second time staying at Trudy's cabin. She is the most friendly and accommodating host and her cabin is the perfect getaway from the city for a weekend of relaxation. Would highly recommend!

    Millie2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • I will book Trudy's place again in a heart beat. Quirky, eclectic, fun. Trudy has practically everything you could need on site. Including breakfast goodies! Games, musical instruments, even an extensive movie and book collection if you need a break from the gorgeous view! The foliage and sunset were phenomenal. We had a total of 6 young women staying the night and we all slept well and had plenty of room to spare. Besides the accommodations, Trudy herself is an excellent host. We felt completely relaxed and at home. Anyone choosing to stay in this area of Maine should consider yourself lucky to book this place. It was everything we hoped it would be.

    Stephina2017-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderfully unique respite.

    Landon2016-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about this trip was perfect. We were welcomed by a very laid back and hospitable host who truly cares about her guests happiness. Trudy was thorough with showing us everything that we needed to know. The house was everything you would expect from the pictures and description. Plenty of room for the 7 of us and all the amenities that we needed. We were surrounded by beautiful landscapes and gorgeous weather. The canoes and kayaks were just what we were looking for and the water was great for swimming! The fire pit was a great size and overlooked the moon reflecting lake at night. A brand new grill was a great addition to an evening of food and card games on the deck for us. There really isn't enough good that I could say about this place. I am already trying to round up some friends for another trip up to this awesome destination!

This charming, historic house has been tastefully restored into a welcoming and comfortable Airbnb. Located in the heart of downtown Norway, Maine, it is within easy walking distance of a cafe, craft brewery, community garden, natural foods store, yoga studio, and many unique, local craft shops. Norway is surrounded by abundant outdoor opportunities, including skiing, swimming, hiking, biking, and boating. This Airbnb supports local: 5% of profits are donated to the Alan Day Community Garden.
This house was built in 1900 and the architecture and interior spaces still reflect the historic charm of the era. The updated kitchen features a gas range, oven, full-size refrigerator, a built-in cabinet, and pots, pans, utensils, etc. The bedroom has a fireplace insert and mantel (for winter use only), a bluetooth sound bar/subwoofer, and gets great sunlight through the day. The entryway has a futon and can be used as a second bedroom. The bathroom has a sink, toilet, and shower. The Garden House is named in celebration of local agriculture, which Maine is known for historically, and which has recently seen a remarkable resurgence. The Garden House donates 5% of profits directly to the Alan Day Community Garden, which is within a 5 minute walk, and guests will have access to the garden. The house is divided into private duplex apartments, each with their own entrance, so guests will be given their own key.
The Garden House is located in the heart of historic Downtown Norway, just a one-minute walk from Main Street. Norway is a blend of traditional Maine culture alongside progressive values that promote community resilience, environmental preservation, outdoor recreation, and alternative energy technology; This blend offers a unique twist on the typical rural Maine town, both maintaining the historic aesthetic appeal and also offering an abundance of opportunities for the adventurous souls. The local Norway Brewing Company offers a great selection of craft brews along with evening events (trivia night, etc.) and an outdoor beer garden in the summer. The local natural foods store carries a great selection of local items as well imported bulk items. The Cafe Nomad has a great menu for both breakfast and lunch, and of course, coffee! If you are looking for an evening with fancier fare, make a reservation at 76 Pleasant St, just a 5-minute drive away. Roberts Farm Preserve offers an extensive network of groomed Nordic ski and snowshoe trails that are free and open to the public (they also have free equipment for use on scheduled days). As a former high school ski coach I used to bring students there for training regularly- it's a great facility! Sunday River Ski Resort is a popular downhill slope in our area, and is a 45-minute drive from Norway. The Alan Day Community Garden is a beautiful green space in Norway, that represents the revitalization of our farming community. The Garden offers a free workshop series, community events, tours, and seasonal veggies for sale (check out the website for additional info). The Center for an Ecology-Based Economy (CEBE) is a unique organization that works to mitigate climate change- they hold free workshops, meetings and events and are open to the public. There are many events in Norway throughout the summer, including an art festival, a food festival, and theater, and we try to keep guests updated as much as possible.
  • This place was amazing and exactly what we needed for a weekend wedding getaway. Rocky was very accommodating, and even set up a fire for us the first night we got there as the weather was unexpectedly chilly. My only regret is that we did not stay longer!

    Naome2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Rocky's place. It's right near Main Street and makes for a quick walk to Nomad Cafe for breakfast in the morning and a quick walk to Norway Brewing Company for dinner and a drink in the evening!

    Jim2017-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • The house is beautiful. Check-in was simple. We checked out the Norway Brewing Company on Rocky's recommendation, and had an amazing brunch.

    Morgan2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great condo, nicely decotated and well equiped. Perfectly located to explore New England. Super host, perfect communication. Our whole family enjoyed the stay. Thanks a lot!

    Daniel2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • This is one of the most comfortable and welcoming Airbnbs we've stayed in! The space was even more spacious than it appeared in photos, well-appointed with everything we needed. Rocky brought us delicious fresh veggies and was able to recommend restaurants and other activities in the area, though we wound up spending most of our time relaxing in the apartment. We would love to come back and stay again!

    Erin2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Have no complaints about Rocky's accommodations or hospitality. I honestly feel that his academic focus of "psychology and mysticism" really comes through in his apartment's decor - everything has a calm and welcoming vibe. Would absolutely recommend and stay there again.

    Jon2017-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • The Garden House apartment was well appointed, cozy, exceptionally clean, comfortable and quite charming. Centrally located in scenic Norway, ME, the apartment is in walking & driving distance to local shops, eateries, the New Balance Factory Outlet Store, and walking trails. The hosts were very accommodating and gracious, making my stay very pleasant. They went above and beyond any traditional hotel, providing water, and other goodies/treats in the refrigerator. Knowing I like salads, Rocky left me fresh vegetables and herbs from their garden. It was delicious and a great bonus. I would recommend this location to anyone visiting the Lewiston area, taking their son/daughter on a college tour, or seeking a weekend getaway. I had a delightful and relaxing experience.

    Vera2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • The place was very nice -very clean and quiet. We were able to walk to restaurants and convenience stores.

  • This is a great place - clean and spacious. Doug was a great host. We got stuck in traffic on our way up, so we got there later than expected. Doug had a fire going in the fire pit for us, gave us a tour of the place, and said to call if we needed anything.

    Christine 2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay at - we were 3, had plenty of space and could have happily stayed several days. Doug is super welcoming, with a fridge full of water bottles - much appreciated on a warm summer day!

  • This place was awesome - maybe the best airbnb experience yet. The value is incredible, and Doug was a gracious host. The place is spotless, and we were welcome to use anything in the house. When we come back there is no doubt where we will be staying, we found the perfect place.

  • My girlfriend and I loved staying at Doug and Donna's converted trailer home. It was adorable and in a great location. Doug greeted us and was super welcoming. The place was bigger than we expected and offered every amenity we could imagine, from a full kitchen set to cook in to air conditioning and a washer/dryer set. We especially loved all of the little knickknacks they had inside. You can see their love for lights! At night Doug came over from where they lived on the adjacent property and helped us start a fire in the front, which was perfect fom the weather. Although the train tracks were 50 yards from the front door, it never bothered us and was no louder than a passing car. We loved staying in Paris, ME and would recommend this Airbnb location to anyone. If we visit the area again we will definitely stay here!

  • We were thrilled with Doug and Donna's place. We were looking for a place close to Mt Abram and Sunday River for Presidents Day weekend and this place was perfect. Has a great cabin feel with lots of antiques throughout the house. It was a 29 minute drive to Mt Abram. Would definitely stay there again.

  • The house was in great shape and as a bonus Doug left out water and some food for us. I would definitely stay there again.

  • This is a beautiful place to rent, we really loved staying here. It's absolutely clean and tidy. We were total of five people and it was very comfortable to stay. The host was awesome. The hospitality shown by the host is beyond what we expected. The family was always ready to give/do more than our expectations. The host helped us to setup a camp fire where we had a lot of fun. The host was always a phone call away since they stay next to the house. I was impressed by the antique collection inside the house. There is a lot of space in the front yard for the kids to play (bench swing and swing). There is also a barbeque grill available on request. We absolutely had no problem with the house and we are happy that we met a wonderful host. I would highly recommend to stay here. Thank you Doug and Donna for making our vacation joyfull. We thank you for all the hospitality and help.

  • Donna and Doug's home is roomy and nice. It was clean when I arrived and the refrigerator was stocked with waters and beverages. Doug checked in shortly after I arrived to make sure everything was fine (it was) and even offered to start a bonfire for me later. I couldn't ask for a better experience, and will definitely be back when I'm in the area.

The house is situated on 1.25 acres and is an in town organic farm. The name of the farm is 'Ordway Grove Farm' and can be seen on SocialF MediaB. It is a great place to stay with many amenities. It is comfortable and convenient. The house is very large and the bedrooms are spacious. We are adding bathrooms to offer more bedrooms en suite. Also, for those who need an apartment, we are adding an efficiency kitchen to accommodate the bedrooms you choose.
Norway is a quaint village on the National Register of Historical Places. The neighborhood has many old houses and wonderful people.
  • Albert is very friendly and involved in many ventures. The rooms were comfortable yet a little musty. Allergens beware!! We had a pleasant time there and Albert even shared his good period movie taste with us.

    Hope2017-04-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Alberts farm house and B & B! We came in late but Albert was very communicative and left us direections to the room. The room itself is large with a nice bathroom directly attached as well. Breakfast was very good! Albert accommodated some dietary restrictions along with being nice enough to serve us at 7:30 so we could hit the ski slopes early. We went to a great place for dinner called the Norway Brew Company for dinner which uses all fresh and local ingredients including the organic produce from Alberts farm. Would definitely recommend this spot to anyone we can't wait to visit again!

    Brian2017-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing place! Albert was incredible! The house was extremely close to both the town and the lake! I would highly recommend this house to anyone who is looking for a quiet getaway!

  • AirBnB in pure form, with Albert as an exceptional host who also happens to make the most deligeous breakfasts. We enjoyed ever moment and loved the atmosphere in this unique house with its impressive collection of antiques. If you want a tast of what we believe is Main - away from the coast - this is the place.

    Peter2017-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Albert is such a wonderful host. He is very accommodating, and tried his best to provide for our needs. One guest asked if there was a spare mirror that could be placed in her bedroom, and he ran right out and purchased one for the room. The main guest room and bathroom is large, clean and comfortable. The other rooms need some work, but he is in the process of working on them, and will be adding more bathrooms. Overall, our stay was pleasant and comfortable.

    Karen2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home. Quiet. Albert is so knowledgeable about the area it really helped us find our way around and enjoy the sights.

    Margaret2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Albert was a fantastic host, very welcoming with lots of recommendations for spots to try around his place. He made delicious breakfast each morning and the beds were wonderfully comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to be back again!

  • Kerry and Chris were excellent hosts! Chris got us settled in, despite us getting in late after battling Friday night traffic. Their home and the private room and bathroom are very clean and welcoming. We slept so well! We didn't get much time to spend with K&C due to my busy schedule with a training I was attending, but they were so kind and even offered us breakfast in the morning and a glass of wine when we returned at night. Thanks again! If we are back in the area for a training we would definitely book again! Added bonus: adorable cats and dogs!

  • Kerry and Chris are warm and inviting hosts. Their home is comfortable, relaxing, and smells amazing! They are happy to chat, or leave you be, and are at the ready with dining and recreation suggestions. This is a great getaway spot if you are looking for hiking or lake activities. Their home is easy to find, in a quiet development not too far from a quaint New England town with plenty to offer. Just perfect.

  • Lovely residential location. You'll need a car to get into town or to other country destinations. Kerry is a thoughtful host, meticulous cleaning and planning, and delightfully friendly, as is her husband Chris. My wife and I stayed here while visiting relatives in town and could not have asked for a better experience in our accommodation.

    Glen2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommended. Wonderful hosts, clean and quiet home. Loved the animals! Chris and Kerry are great communicators! We will return!

  • My boyfriend and I drove up from Boston and stayed here before skiing Sunday River the next morning-- it was a good way to break up the drive. We stopped at the Oxford Casino (10 mins from the house), which was a fun extra bonus. Sunday River was about a 40 minute drive in the morning.. it worked well! We arrived on the later end and Chris showed us right to our room. It was locate on the 2nd floor next to their & daughter's bedrooms. Our room was clean and simple- had towels and information for us. The bathroom was in the hallway outside the bedrooms. In the morning we chatted with Kerry and Chris briefly before heading out early- they were super friendly and welcoming people! Definitely willing to answer any questions we had and very easygoing. I'd recommend this if you're looking for a similar route and nice place to sleep!

Historical house built in (URL HIDDEN) of oldest houses in Norway.....less than a mile from Norway Lake, one hour to Mt Washington region, one hour to Portland..historical town of Norway, many hiking trails.. This is an old house, full of old furniture and antiques. It is not the Hilton. The real advantage to staying here is the privacy. You will have the first floor, including private bath to yourself.
Within walking distance of town center. House is old so if you are seeking a new place, this might not be for you. You will have the whole downstairs including a private bathroom. Two beds are available for your use.
Many historical homes but also new. Mixed neighborhood.
  • Despite some confusion regarding our arrival time (we got caught in July 4th parade traffic!), Eric welcomed us warmly into his home. The house has tremendous character indicative of its history, and we found the accommodations comfortable - my partner said she slept better here than she has lately at home. The listing and pictures are accurate and Eric was a congenial host and easy conversationalist, offering us wine and snacks upon our arrival at the end of our night, and a wonderful breakfast of bagels and assorted fruit. Eric's home is easy to find and was within a short driving distance of our planned destination.

    Sue2015-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place, very cozy and accommodating. Eric is a great host, tasty beverages upon arrival, with an assortment of breakfast items before I left. Lots of great stories of his travels, and he even gave me a lift downtown to the local Open Mic night. Highly recommended, and he has another place on Norway Lake, which sleeps six. Next time I'm in Maine I'll be contacting Eric again!

    Chris2015-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • It was a pleasure to stay at Eric's. He is a very nice and kind-hearted person and takes care of his hosts. Also, having considerably traveled in his life, he will surely share with you his experience and stories. The house is old - maybe could cobwebs be found in some corners - but very cosy and interesting. We definitely slept well the 4 nights we stayed.

  • Thanks to Eric for a unique bed and breakfast type experience. The house was old (The good kind of old with character) and was a great place to stay. Eric was able to relate to us very well and was able to share his world traveling experience which was well accepted. Also, the breakfast was delicious. A great first Airbnb experience!

  • Eric was a fantastic host! We thoroughly enjoyed his charming home and great hospitality. He's friendly, and very knowledgeable not only about the area, but the world. Eric provided us with a comfortable, private room and bathroom downstairs, and delicious fruit and pasties in the morning! Thank you Eric :)

  • What a great place to stay for some time away from home!! It was like being welcomed into an old friend's comfortable, familiar home, with a wonderful, friendly greeting, a chance to sit down, unwind and have an enjoyable chat, complete with wine and cheese! The rooms and bed were comfortable, making for an easy nights rest. And an even better, home-made breakfast, with more chance to chat with a wonderful host! A wonderful experience, in a very enjoyable old home - highly recommended!

Enjoy a peaceful, relaxing stay with views from every window. This is an agrarian landscape essentially unchanged in 150 years. Eight generations of our family have lived and farmed here. The farm is listed on the National Historic Register. Visit the goats in the field. Ask for a tour of the historic barn. Hike, swim, and paddle in the nearby White Mountains National Forest. We offer personal advice about places to see and routes to take.
All rented rooms are on the second floor. There are several options: 1) There is a private bedroom with a double bed. ($50-$58 double occupancy). 2) A second private bedroom with a double bed ($50-$58 double occupancy) adjoins two additional rooms with a sofa bed, a single bed, and a floor mattress. All three sleep one person and cost $20 per bed. Privacy is restricted, but this can work well for families with children.
This is a rural neighborhood where people walk along the road, stop to chat, and look out for one another. There isn't much traffic along the road, but drivers sometimes go too fast and it's important that children are supervised and taught to stop, look, and listen.
  • Ellen is a very nice, friendly and helpful person. Myself and My friends spend weekend at her farm house and it was really beautiful cool place to stay. We are very thankful for the hospitality. The Place is absolutely nice and well equipped!. Beautiful landscape and Lovely Cattle field and amazing neighborhood. The location is really easy found and convenient!. We also met friendly person Steven in the farm house. He is very nice friendly person. Ellen provided coffee in the morning and very delicious goat milk. Myself and Friends will visit again and stay here for Sure :). Thanks a Million Ellen. You are really awesome.

  • Ellen's place is very comfortable and cute. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch and visiting with the goats on the property before a cozy night's sleep in the private room upstairs. Ellen was very helpful and welcoming. She offered coffee and breakfast in the morning and even looked at a map of the coast with us to help choose our next destination. We'd love to stay here again!

  • Again, the house was awesome. This was our second time here and it was even better than at the first time. We just love all the things what it has, we used the kayak's for the first time, it was really great on the water. I went on a run every morning, the area, the space, everything is just awesome. We even rented a boat from a marina close to the house, and they have delivered the boat right to our doorstep. Love it. Want to come back again and again.

    Gábor2016-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • The place was idyllic. Matt was very responsive to all my questions before we arrived. It was my granddaughter's first birthday and we decided to celebrate with 10 family members. From the moment we arrived , we felt like we were transported away to a dream come true. Beautiful views, the mist on the lake, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boards, roasting smores around the fire pit. The house had everything we could think of. Plenty of linens and towels, thoughtful amenities, well stocked kitchen. WE ARE DEFINITELY COMING BACK!!!! Thank you for letting us have such a memorable time.

  • This house is a great surprise. The location is superb, it's "the house by the lake". Every time you wake up, you see the beauty how the sun is shining down to Lake Pennesseewassee. The house is comfortable and well equipped with everything what you can think of, for outdoor and indoor activities as well. This house is the perfect getaway for any long weekends, no matter if the sun is shining or it's raining. We will definitely go back there. Highly recommended for everyone.

  • We love the Racki home, we are going back every summer:) It has great water sport amenities, we always have a great time at the lake. Surrounded by trees, a pond, and hiking trails, the cottage provides a cozy space, with a woodstove and firepit, to relax and reflect. We're 1 hour from Portland, and Sunday River Skiing. Nordic skiing nearby too! Let us know if you are bringing a pet and have them under control at all times. Please bring crate for them to be comfortable in and not on the furniture to respect all of our guests. Massage, yoga, life transition counsel and essential oil consultation is available. Thank you!
This is a timber frame cottage with a largely wooden interior, with plenty of windows to make it a bright space. The kitchen and living room are all one area, with a separate bathroom (tub, shower, sink, and toilet). The bedroom is a lofted room above the kitchen, with half-walls that look down over the living room. The upstairs has a Queen bed, and downstairs is a comfy Full Futon that sleeps 2. The space can easily accommodate 4 people, as long as privacy is not required, and its ideal for a couple or a family. There is a single trundle bed as well. Firewood is available in the attached shed, for the wood stove, and there is also a propane Rinnai heater, and radiant-floor heating in the bathroom. We are near 3 alpine skiing areas, a few nordic skiing areas, and the Oxford Casino. Our area offers many outdoor experiences such as hiking, biking, swimming, fishing, kayaking, etc. Halls Pond does not allow motorized boats or swimming, because it is a drinking water reservoir, but canoeing, kayaking, and fishing are perfectly fine. The cottage is a perfect place for a writing, creative or healing retreat. On our land is Halls Pond Healing Arts, which offers yoga classes, massage therapy and workshops. Find the Halls Pond Healing Arts website online for more information. Please book ahead for massage, yoga classes, private yoga sessions, life transitions counsel or essential oils consultation. We also grow vegetables, eggs, chickens and harvest maple syrup from the land. Many of these items are available for purchase seasonally.
We enjoy solitude and the natural environment, so our neighborhood is great! No other houses are visible from our land, just trees, field, and pond. There is a lovely 1/2 hour walk around the pond and another 1 hour round trip hike up Singepole Mtn. with excellent mountain top views, all right out the door. And we are still only an 8 minute drive to town, and about 15 minutes to the Hannaford's grocery store. 5 minutes down the road in South Paris check out Riverside Sauna with wonderful wood fired saunas and excellent homemade meals~ Thurs-Sun.as well as X-Vault a favorite dinner spot. The Norway Brewing Company is a popular place with local brews! The Fare Share Coop is a real member owned coop in Norway with organic and healthy shopping options. Across the street is Cafe Nomad and up the road is 75 Pleasant for elegant dining. Tripp's Primal Farm and Kafe is completely glutenfree and gets rave reviews~ it is in Auburn, 20 minutes drive where there are many exceptional restaurants(Mother of India and Fuel are favorites).
  • We felt very welcome..Rocky and Kathy had the cabin nice and toasty with the fire going before we arrived, so it was lovely to walk into a nice heated cabin!. It was exactly what we (URL HIDDEN) fact it couldn't have been more perfect. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed, as we love to cook..and did a lot as it was over Christmas holidays. The bathroom had a heated floor which felt great on your feet!. Overall a wonderful experience..will definitely be back!

  • This was my very first airbnb experience, and it was delightful and lovely! Rocky is a great host and an excellent communicator! He easily accommodated our request for a late night arrival- it was seamless, perfect in every way. The cottage was enchanted, there were fresh eggs and veggies from the farm, as well as coffee and beautiful flowers gracing the space. The cottage is a perfect blend of a cozy, rustic, comfortable and peaceful retreat. The yoga studio was such a special and well thought out wellness space, the lake at the end of the driveway is beautiful and enchanted. I look forward to coming back again and staying longer next time!

  • We spent a relaxing night at Rocky and Katey's cabin after a day at Sunday River. Rocky was exceptionally accommodating of our last minute booking request, which we appreciated so much. The cabin was easy to find and close to "civilization" (only a 5-10 minute drive) yet felt remote and peaceful. We enjoyed the cozy wood stove and stayed warm all night since the warm air rose to the loft. We appreciated that the fire in the wood stove had already been started for us before we arrived. We brought ingredients for a simple pasta dinner and found it easy and relaxing to cook in the well-supplied, clean kitchen space. The next morning, we enjoyed a walk around the main road and views of the pond area. If went back in winter, we would definitely bring snowshoes to explore more. Rocky and Katey were available in the main house and we had a nice chat with them before we left. We plan to book again in the warm weather since we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would like to hike nearby.

    Erin2015-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I really enjoyed our time at this cabin - our only gripe was that we couldn't spend more time! We had to leave first thing in the morning because of an on-coming snow storm :( so we didn't get a chance to explore the property or take advantage of the local ski trails, so I can't comment on that. We were also bummed that the only restaurants open on Sunday night were of the Taco Bell variety (poor planning on our part, admittedly) so we had to go out to the grocery store for dinner. That being said, the local Hannaford was exceedingly well provisioned, and we made ourselves a delicious steak dinner using the kitchen equipment in the cabin. The cabin is quite rustic, but we found it very comfortable. It's so nice to have radiant heat in the bathroom, and the shower was very hot with good pressure. Overall we were very satisfied, and we would recommend Rocky's cabin.

    Emilie2015-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a wonderful week in the cottage surrounded by an almost perfect winter wonderland. The wood stove kept us nice and warm and we had everything we needed to cook, read and relax. There are plenty of things you can do nearby if you are an outdoorsy person. We went skiing and snowshoeing.

    Melanie2014-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome cabin, quiet area, great for a getaway. Awesome farm meats and produce. Rocky was a helpful host, giving us suggestions on where to go hiking and giving us general info on the area. Loved the wood heater! Had a blast!

This house is located deep into the woods on 52 acres of private preserve 25 minutes from Mt. Abram and 35 minutes from Sunday River. It is ideal for hunting and fishing in the summer and fall and as a ski lodge during the winter. There are two private bedrooms, a loft, an enclosed porch and a daylight basement that can all serve for sleeping. There are two full bathrooms. Altogether, there is room for 8 to sleep comfortably, more if you wish to be cozy.
Two streams run through the property, one of which is stocked with brook trout. A small man-made pond on the property is suitable for swimming and fishing for brown trout. Deer are numerous on the property and visit the house and feed lots around it daily.
The neighbors are furry, finned, and feathered. The nearest humans are about a quarter of a mile away from the home, but well hidden and never heard.
  • This house was perfect for a quality family weekend get a way. It fit 13 people comfortably with a few air mattresses. It was a beautiful house secluded in the woods. No cell phone reception,intenet,Wi-Fi or cable. It was exactly what I was looking for for my family. Between exploring, fishing, four wheelers, dirt bikes, family games, camp fires and our boat our kids didn't even notice that they where not connected. I would definitely attempt to rent this property from John again as I travel to Maine annually. John was great at answering any questions that I had and providing helpful hints and details. I would highly recommend John and his house if you are looking to disconnect and spend some time out in the woods.

  • Great place. Quiet but not too unreachable. Beautiful property.

  • John's cabin was a beautiful place to stay. The cabin was spacious and had plenty of room, very clean and very cozy. We had perfect weather, caught and ate some trout from the pond, only wish we could have stayed longer! Definitely will consider staying here again. Everything was perfect

  • We enjoyed our stay at John's cabin, it is a very relaxing and quiet location. We were in town for a wedding and the cabin was convenient to the venue and downtown Norway (great dinner and breakfast at Nomads and even better beer at Norway Brewing Company). Only wish I had more time to do some paddling and fishing on the nearby pond and lake! John was a great host, very good communication.

  • Great place to get away. Home is beautiful on a peaceful location with plenty of amenities. Lots of room for friends and family.

    Ed2017-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • As the owner mentions, sparse (or non-existent depending on your carrier) cell service is about the only (possible) negative with the cabin. For some, that's not a negative at all as the opportunity to unplug is just what you might need and if necessary a few minutes drive will bring you back into the necessary range. The cabin itself is even more beautiful than the pictures indicate, and the scenery is absolutely amazing in the fall (and I am sure just as great at other times). The nearby town of Norway is very quaint and has some nice shops to peruse. The owner was friendly and very accommodating. Honestly, I don't think we could have asked for a better experience. My absolutely highest recommendation.

    John2017-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • John's house is amazing! It is very secluded (No cell service or internet) but that only enhanced the weekend. Fishing and swimming within walking distance. Kids played outside all weekend and had a great time! They are already asking if we can go back next summer!

    Caitlin2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is very secluded and off-the-grid - perfect for a weekend getaway. The area is very beautiful and picturesque, especially North Pond. This is definitely the place if you are looking for a quiet, private retreat.

  • If you are looking for a true Maine lakefront cottage experience, look no further! We loved the rustic, comfortable feel of this perfect family camp. There is space for everyone to have their own place for quiet times, and the screened in porch was a favorite place to gather to read, dine and play cards. The movie selection was great, but to be honest, our family was so taken with the lake and the the books from the local book store in town that the tv did not get much use. The lake is fabulous for swimming, paddling and jumping off the dock. Our kids were 10 and 12, and avid swimmers, so the deep water at the dock was a blast. There is a small beach area if you had little one. We saw loons carrying a baby chick on their back and listened to their calls in the morning. We even watched the island neighbors shoot off their cannon, which was a "blast". Our dog loved the vacation, too. Norway and South Paris are nearby, and the shops, farmer's markets and local ice cream places are fun to explore. The hosts make everything very easy with bedding and towels provided. Everything you need to cook is in the kitchen, and my husband loved their new grill. You can tell from the moment you arrive that this is a treasured family camp, and we were very fortunate to share this beautiful spot for a few days.

    jill2015-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you, Nora, for sharing your home with us. What a lovely spot...with gorgeous water views that we spent all our days admiring. Wish I could have bottled up the views and brought them home with me... but the pictures I took will have to do. We all enjoyed touring the lovely lake by boat (rented locally on the lake) and my adult kids spent hours jumping off the dock. After swimming in the clear, clean water, we enjoyed sitting around the fire pit, roasting marshmallows and enjoying conversation. The house is situated so nicely, with surrounding woods that separated us from homes on either side and created a feeling of privacy and seclusion. Yet, there were major stores within 5-10 minutes away that satisfied our shopping needs completely. The house feels like a home and gave us lots of areas to relax in. The screened-in porch overlooking the lake was the best!! We used the bed already on the porch for sleeping and also set up an extra airbed so that more of us could enjoy sleeping with the lake sounds at night. The house was so very well stocked with most everything you could possibly need. Aside from food from the nearby Hannaford's (love that store), everything else was there...including first aid supplies for minor injuries, lots of towels for showers/swimming and plenty of wood for the fire pit and fire place (although we didn't use the indoor fireplace). The caretakers of the home were just a phone call away and, without intruding, let us know they were there to help with whatever we might need. We always enjoy spending time in Maine, it's such a beautiful part of the country. Being right down in and close to it's natural beauty has created wonderful vacations for us. But having been tent campers for so many summer vacations and dealing with bad weather and unpredictable storms, it was a pleasure and a treat to have a roof over our heads, a comfortable place to relax and a gorgeous setting on the lake to enjoy. I think our little furry friend, Maverick, enjoyed his stay too. Thank you so much for not saying no to him as a guest. And in closing, we tried to leave your home as nice and as clean as it was when we arrived. Thanks again for opening your home to us !!

    Judy2017-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • We were made to feel very welcome! We had plenty of questions prior to the trip and our phone calls and emails were returned immediately (and graciously). The description of the home and property were accurate. Much of the property is indeed steep so you have to be agile enough (and so careful with the kids) to walk up and down to the water. This allowed for a very lovely view of the lake and surrounding landscape. The hosts had so many thoughtful and helpful things ready in the house for guests to use- Advil, plenty of towels, drinking water jugs, lobster pot, children's Tylenol, poison ivy lotion just in case, organic mac n cheese for the kids, extra life jackets, bug spray, etc... so if you happened to forget something, it was likely stocked in the house already! Our week long stay was absolutely wonderful.. the cabin was so cozy and spacious. The large screened in porch overlooking the gorgeous lake was so lovely.. we spent so much time enjoying it. The lake is clean and the property has a small beach with shallow water for swimming with the little guys, but also the dock for boating and fishing, with about an 8 foot drop- great for jumping off too! The fact that there was a paddle boat and two kayaks for us to use was so, so fun and convenient! For us, this was one of the number one things. We really didn't need to leave the camp for much else to do :) Finally, the surrounding area is really nice. Norway is a quaint town with plenty of cool shops, antiques, art, food, etc. There were choices as to where to buy your groceries, gas, liquor, pretty much anything you may need. We definitely recommend this cabin.. we had a fun and also peaceful stay.

  • We rented the camp for a long weekend to celebrate a family birthday. The camp was exactly what we hoped for. There was plenty of space for all 6 of us to stay comfortably. The location was great and it was an easy drive into town. Nora was great with her directions and getting us checked in. We highly recommend this camp for a peaceful stay on a beautiful lake.

    Sarah2017-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Nora and family, Thank you for letting us use your wonderful camp! The camp was everything we expected and more! My husband and I and our adult children had a blast. The camp was equipped with everything to make our vacation excellent. There were kayaks, a canoe, the peddle boat and the great dock to jump off of. We all loved the screen porch and the wonderful fire pit for nighttime fires. There was great hikes close by and we enjoyed that. Town was great and we especially loved Norway Brewing. Thank you again for allowing us to use your little piece of heaven! Donna

    Donna2017-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful lakefront cabin, close to the center of Norway, ME. Everything we needed was there, whether it was kitchen utensils and gear or boats and life jackets. The lake is stunning, especially in the early morning, and our kids swam everyday, and didn't want to stop. The kitchen was not fancy, but had everything necessary to avoid lots of going out to eat :) Highly recommend this cabin, and Nora was a pleasure to work with. Questions were answered quickly, directions were clear and accurate, and everything was just as described, and in some cases, even better :)

    Jon2017-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect Maine lakeside cottage. Loved the dock, fire pit, kayaks, and screen porch. Great location on the lake, and close to town.

    Karen2017-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts definitely made us feel welcome and the descriptions given were very accurate as well--we felt right at home and had everything we needed when we arrived (including a great hand written list and map to nearby hikes which we took advantage of)! The place is really nice--we thoroughly enjoyed the screened-in porch and since our baby monitor had good reception, we were able to hang out on the dock while the baby napped/slept, which was amazing! The view from the dock is amazing of the expansive lake and excellent for relaxing and enjoying the sun and the stars. Had a great time using the canoes that are available and we are already thinking of coming back (maybe with some friends) as there is plenty of space in the 3 bedrooms so it would totally be comfortable for a bigger group. The Lake Store was nearby and convenient and Hannafords wasn't that hard to get to either. If you are looking for a nice, rustic camp with easy access to a beautiful lake and hiking, definitely check it out!

We are also a short drive to multiple ski resorts, including Sunday River. Enjoy a quiet stay in a comfortable king-sized bed, with your own living room area adjacent to same, though you are welcome to make yourself at home in our kitchen and living room as well.
We strive to offer a serene, peaceful, and comfortable environment for our guests. We have a beautiful meditation labyrinth that you are welcome to walk; peruse the books in our library; and walk through our quiet neighborhood, which offers stunning views of the mountains of western Maine and has a quiet pond where you may picnic.
  • Kerry and Chris were very friendly and made us feel most welcome and comfortable in their home. They have a lovely home and it was everything they said it would be. We will highly recommend them to friends and family.

  • We really appreciated this airbnb! Chris & Kerry made us feel very welcome and were very helpful in describing places to see & visit. Kerry's written instructions, provided for their guests, were particularly helpful to us. The location is quiet and beautiful; close to Norway with its unique shops, and to numerous hiking opportunities. Fall foliage was superb! Breakfast provisions were more than adequate and tasty! Kerri & Chris made us feel very much at home and we would definitely recommend this bnb to others.

  • I just stayed with Kerry and Chris, I really enjoyed it. I was doing a motorcycle tour in the White Mountains, and picked Norway to stay as it is quite a lovely area. I had a private room and my own hangout area in the basement, extremely comfortable. Kerry couldn't have been more wonderful as a host and as new friends. I will hope to stay there again soon to do a bicycle ride next, and to see my new friends again!

  • Wow, where do I begin...we were looking for a quiet place to relax for a very days and Jon's place more then delivered. First, the house is extremely clean and has everything you need for cooking, and living. He also had some other extra items like binoculars and games that were great to have too! The beds were very comfy but the couch was our favorite! The view from the porch was breathtaking! We enjoyed just reading outside while listening to the fish jump in the pond or the crickets making music. The walk to the river is very easy and relaxing on the hammock by the river was wonderful! The location was great too! We went into Norway and enjoyed their Farmers market. We also road our bikes around Harrison. All in all in you are looking to relax and by near nature Jon's place is perfect!

  • This is our 2nd time staying at Jon's & I hope to go back again - it's the perfect cabin for getting away! It's absolutely beautiful in fall (and I'm sure all the other seasons as well!) - the cabin is perfectly positioned with the view overlooking the pond & trees - you can sit at the picnic table or the swing (nice addition from our last stay!) on the porch as well as have the view from the comfy leather couches inside. We have bought groceries on our way up for the weekend and stayed at the cabin all weekend both times - I know there's plenty to do in the area as well but we've enjoyed reading, writing, wandering down to the hammock by the river, and relaxing. Even if it's a rainy day it's the perfect place to be. We had a clear night and seeing all of the stars was wonderful! Jon is really easy to communicate with - he has a helpful guide he sends you before with directions and information on the cabin. We live in Boston and it's an easy drive up as well. Thanks Jon for another wonderful stay!

    Elizabeth2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend, I and her family went to Jon's place for LDW. To relax and hang out away from Boston and the city life. This was an excellent place to stay and relax, exactly as described. Jon was a great host, easy to communicate with, and very timely. Had an opportunity to meet him as we were leaving too as well which was great.

    Dan2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing, unique cabin with everything as promised. We had a relaxing weekend by the fire, fished in the pond, and wandered down to the lake. Sometimes we just enjoyed sitting in the cabin because it was such a fun spot. Jon was responsive and a great host. Loved the Norway Brewery down the road.

    Alyson2016-09-04T00:00:00Z

The retreat was created and is managed by world renown juggler and touring artist Michael Menes.
We are surrounded by farms, forests, beautiful lakes and lots of fresh air away from the touristy areas, yet not too far from some of the most picturesque destinations in Maine. We are part of a vibrant creative community and a base for exploring off-the-beaten-path adventures. Depending on the season, there are many interesting, down-to-earth, inspiring things to see and do in the area. We recommend the less explored authentic treasures that are often hidden from the typical tourist attractions. Some of these include nearby Celebration Barn Theater, Jack's Greenhouse, Nezinscot Farm, Cooper Spring and Historic Paris Hill.
  • Michael was a wonderful host. He went out of his way to make us feel at home. His place is beautiful (better than the pictures). And Michael was so helpful with ideas of places to go and things to do in the area. He also organized a bonfire for us and the other guests staying in his home. We all had a nice time getting to know each other. Overall, an excellent stay! Highly recommended.

We woke up to the peaceful sounds of nature in the forrest, a hot shower and a wonderful breakfast spread. Michael even completes the room with a jug of some Fresh Oxford Spring Water. Really cool! My wife and I look forward to coming back!

  • We really had an awesome family time at Steve and Laura's guest house. This farm house has good scenic views of the mountain and serene. Steve and Laura are very nice and accommodated each and every request of ours, and made us feel home. Their Tortoise and Mare are adorable and we enjoyed taking pictures with them. We would love to visit this place again for sure.

  • The Tortoise and the Hare offers spectacular views. We spent a lot of time on the deck.

  • I could not recommend the tortoise and the mare any more highly. Beautiful property with spectacular trails and views, well kept and cozy house, and Laura and her husband are excellent hosts. An excellent place to stay in the area!

  • My family had a great experience staying at this beautiful country side house. The house is pretty accurately shown in the picture. Gary is a responsive host and was accessible via e-mail and phone and provided us all necessary helpful tips and recommendations. The house is located in a nice quiet area and it is nice to wake up to chirping birds in the morning. We had fun playing touch football in the front yard and ping pong in the basement entrance. If you like country setting you will like this place. You would need to do a little driving to get food and other supplies, so if you plan ahead that would not be an issue. From this place it is an easy ride to Mount Washington and several other attractions and activities. I would recommend this place.

  • We had a great time in your very beautiful house and enjoyed the nature specially the hummingbirds, thank you very much that we could stay there.:))) We especially enjoyed you great deck and the view over your pond. You were great hosts! You're wonderful kitchen and the grill on the deck helped us to prepare a wonderful dinner. And the gym what the kids very much enjoyed.

  • Gary's place was a great getaway for the weekend, the house had everything we needed and the surrounding property was absolutely beautiful

  • Amazing house with a great view. Owners are very welcoming with brochures and local information in the house. Accommodations were great. I highly recommend staying here if you're planning a trip to Maine.

  • A beautiful peaceful setting. This is a real home - ready for use with everything we needed. The house is yours to use and very comfortable. I highly recvomend it.

    Tom2017-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful and spacious home! Cabin was not located as remotely as I originally imagined, but was a great space nonetheless. The house was equipped with plenty of kitchenware, games, towels and extra toiletries which were a nice bonus and convenient! Only bummer about this space was the extremely slippery, hardwood staircase that I took a nasty spill (URL HIDDEN) careful!

    Noelle2015-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a pleasant stay in this house last weekend. The house was nice and cozy. The deck was spacious and open where we enjoyed our breakfast with the alluring view of the fall foliage. Beautiful views and scenic points were at reasonable distances. After all day travelling I found the mattresses very comfortable for a good night sleep.

    Shweta2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • We booked last minute and Gary was so fast at answering our questions. The house was great, spacious and clean. Highly recommended place, if you are looking for a quiet and peaceful weekend

  • We very much enjoyed our stay at Christine's lakehouse. The location is absolutely picturesque -- the lake is beautiful, and everything is very quiet. We took the canoe out, used the firepit and grilled on the bbq. We also appreciated the wifi, TV and well-stocked kitchen. Would definitely recommend.

    Kelly2016-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • This "camp" is exactly that... a small taste of summer camp for family and friends. The house has everything needed for a getaway...including plenty of room! We had three couples and four infants, and had plenty of space to spread out (or not) as needed. Big family style meals on the back porch looking at the water, late evening canoe rides to watch the sunset, afternoon naps on the hammock.. Pretty perfect. And, the hosts did a great job of communicating about logistics and other details. Very communicative!

    Kevin2015-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Christine gets high marks from us for her lakefront cottage. She was easy to communicate with and amenities like a canoe, kayaks, three fishing rods and lifejackets were helpful. The kitchen was clean and well stocked. We spent most of the weekend in Lewiston for a graduation. The drive is about 30 to 35 minutes.

    Garrett2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • The most perfect space for a getaway for myself and 6 other friends. We loved taking the canoe out on the lake and it was incredibly peaceful. First time I was able to see the stars so clearly! We had a super late check-in, and Christine made it so easy for us to access the house. A fully stocked kitchen made it easy for us to cook some group dinners as well. Would 100% come back over and over again. :)

    Jen2016-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Chris' house was just perfect. The house is just as shown in the pictures and the property is on a perfect spot, secluded and picturesque. It is perfect for a family getaway/trip but also would be nice for a couple's retreat. Although we didn't have a chance to meet Chris in person, she was an exceptional host. She was incredibly responsive and accommodating. We will definitely plan to stay again!

    Linda2014-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • Christine provides an awesome opportunity for a Maine lakefront experience. Communication before and during my stay was excellent. The house itself is charming. Since I came in October, and the nights were chilly, I made extensive use of the cast iron wood stove in the main room, which pretty much heated the whole house. The kitchen is well-stocked. Everything is clean and well-maintained. A back deck looks out on the lake. There is also a beautiful view from the main bedroom which is quite large. Had a wonderful time.

  • We just returned from a ,apical week in Maine and we are all missing it already !!! It felt like home ... Christine's cottage and lake front property is truly wonderful ... Cozy, homey, inviting and oh so secluded. The Loon's singing , the crystal clear water, the sun sets, the Bon fire all made a spectacular vacation. Everything and anything one needed was at you fingertips , including a washer and dryer ( so great for wet towels etc) we can not have been happier at a top resort !!! Thank you for your generosity in sharing your piece of heaven... We will certainly be guests again , perhaps for "Snow"

    Terri2015-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • Thompson Lake is crystal clear. And this lovely home will instantly make you feel comfortable and at home in every way. The kitchen is well equipped, clean and inviting. We enjoyed the barbecue grill and eating every meal on the deck. The bedrooms are cozy and comfy. And the lake is absolutely delightful. We saw lots of loons, and at night time were serenaded by frogs and owls. Everything was perfect and our host, Christine, provided all our family with a beautiful setting for our Bates graduation celebration!

My place is close to (12) lakes - Sebago Lake, Long Lake etc. We have a private town lake excellent for families, kayaking, etc. Enjoy nature but yet just 25 miles to Portland and just 40 minutes to North Conway,NH and the White Mountains. Shawnee Peak ski resort in next town with Sunday River ski resort just 40 minutes away.. You’ll love my place because of Cabin feel, cathedral ceilings, surrounded by woods, privacy. My place is good for couples and families (with kids).
  • Wonderful stay in a wonderful space. Very well appointed cabin and a perfect amount of nature and solitude for our liking. We're hoping to make it back before too long. Thank you Anthony for providing such a homely stay!

  • Beautiful home with anything and everything you'd need for a get-away! Hot tub was a hit and convenient location to small towns. Beautiful location with easy access to walks along rivers.

  • Great place to visit! Perfect for two couples to share, or a family of 4-5! Great spot to use as home base and do day trips to see many waterfalls, Conway and North Conway, NH, Maine Wildlife Preserve, Mt. Washington and lots of gorgeous leaves! I'm sure the snowmobiling is amazing, as we saw trail signs all over the place!

    Peggy2017-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Black Bear Cabin is an adorable getaway. Great kitchen. Hot tub was key. And we didn't see another soul the whole time we were there. Plus Anthony was very responsive when we had a question. Would definitely book again.

    Phoebe2016-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Black Bear Cabin was great! Clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. Everyone felt at home right away. Anthony gave us terrific recommendations in the area and he was very responsive with all communications. Our family enjoyed our stay very much!

    Tara2016-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Everything we were looking for!!!!! Black bear cabin is a TRUE gem. We absolutely loved our stay there. My boyfriend and I were looking for a winter wonderland type of vibe and black bear definitely delivered. You feel as if you're in your very own forest- extremely secluded. The enormous jacuzzi equipped with changing LED colors was the icing on the cake. We came here from Atlanta and really took advantage of the beauty that the lakes region had to offer. I recommend exploring as much as you can. This was our first time in Maine and will not be the last!

    Laila2016-12-17T00:00:00Z

  • Eric was a wonderful, kind host. We loved our peaceful stay. Such a fun, unique spot with the most beautiful view. Eric is a lovely man and we very much enjoyed chatting with him about life adventures. Thanks Eric! We will be back!

    Zoe2015-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed meeting Eric, and our stay at his cabin. Eric is a gracious, friendly and easy going host. We found his cabin very comfortable and very interesting! And outdoor screen house, bunkhouse, sauna, and shower make the place very unique. The setting is gorgeous - North Pond is beautiful and the nights were filled listening to the loons. We had everything we needed for our stay and more - 3 kayaks were available to use; and the swimming was really nice. Eric met us at his house and we followed him to the cabin, it would be hard to find without this head start. The town of Norway is a gem -the people are welcoming, and there is so much to do. Rockhounding is great in the area if you are into that! We hope to return to Eric's cabin.

    Deborah2015-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic time and Eric was a great host! We misunderstood the listing, thinking the cottage was one of 7 in a small area, but actually all 7 are part of the listing, since there's a sauna, an extra bunkhouse, a screened in porch for happy hour, etc. The cottage itself is beautiful and was perfectly suited to the two of us, but could comfortably hold 9+. The lake is gorgeous, and the setting was the perfect mix of secluded and accessible. Eric was extremely generous with his time, showing us great hiking in the area, being flexible with our arrival time, and making sure we had everything we needed, including help with the lovely wood stove. We can't wait to go back!

    Jeremy2015-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location, if peace and tranquility is what you want this is the place.

    Kelly2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is incredible, pictures don't do it justice. Had a great time canoeing on the lake, relaxing on the hammock, sitting by the fire, melting in the sauna, and cooking on the grill. Eric was warm, welcoming, and generous with food and drinks, a brief tour, followed by absolute privacy. Showers were hot, fridge cold, firewood plentiful, TV and internet not necessary but nice, character and charm, peace and quiet throughout, the perfect getaway!

    Paul2016-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Had an absolutely wonderful time at this cabin. It was everything the listed suggested. The view was unbeatable, you are literally steps to the lake. We sat on the deck at night and looked up at the stars and you could hear the loons calling out over the lake. Our dogs loved the property and the nice big deck. We loved the wood stove and the supplies the host provided. We left our cooler full of breakfast goodies at home by mistake, so it was a fantastic surprise to find some groceries in the fridge. This was my first time using air bnb and my husband's second (he traveled this way for work once) and I have to say it has certainly given me high expectations! We were looking for a nice relaxing weekend and we got it. I only wish we could have stayed longer. It was very hard to leave.

    krysten2016-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • 2nd year family trip to the cabin and we enjoyed it just as much as last year. We love the lake it's beautiful, decently warm, quiet, and friendly. The cabin is the perfect size for our family and the kayaks, paddle board, and canoes he has there give us plenty of entertainment to keep the kids busy and having fun.
