Just booked in Fairlee

Our cabin is a light-filled and cozy retreat for guests wanting a rustic, yet comfortable VT experience! Get away from it all, yet be close to everything Vermont has to offer year round! Minutes from Dartmouth College and King Arthur Bakery/School.
Nestled on a wooded hillside at the end of the road, our cabin is a light-filled, peaceful and cozy retreat. Two sleeping lofts are accessible by ladder stair above the living area. One loft has a double bed, and the other loft has two twin beds. In the colder months, a Jotul wood stove is your sole source of heat--we'll get the cabin toasty for you before your arrival, and you manage the wood stove to your comfort level during your stay. A kitchenette with bottled water (no running water), sink, small fridge, an induction cooktop, dishes, and cooking utensils is available if you prefer to prepare/eat meals in the cabin. A "state of the art" Swedish composting toilet provides the basic amenities in the cabin. Bed and bath linens are provided. Full bathing facilities are located just steps away in main house. The cabin has a private deck overlooking a small stream, a covered front porch, and full access to our gardens, woods and trails. Full access to our main house is just a short stroll through the gardens. These amenities include access to two full bathrooms (one with a large stall and rain-shower, the other with a deep soaking tub--we also have a lovely outside shower available during warm months). Cabin guests are welcome to use our well-supplied kitchen, living and dining areas, and grounds. A self-serve breakfast, which includes locally produced foods is also included in nightly rate. We are located 9 miles from the I-91/ I-89 interstate junction, within a short 20 minute drive to Dartmouth College/Hanover, NH, 20 minutes to Woodstock, VT, as well as many ski areas and local attractions. Driving times from Boston: 2.5 hours; NYC: 5 hours; Montreal: 3.5 hours. Public transportation from Boston, New York and Burlington/Montreal (trains and buses) are available to nearby White River Junction. You will need a car to get around, as much of Vermont and New Hampshire is rural with little to no public transportation. There are a number of rental car agencies nearby in West Lebanon, NH/White River Jct, VT. There are many restaurants within a short drive (15-30 minutes). Our open living/dining room area is naturally well lit with views across the valley and woodlands. Sited above the confluence of two streams, a large deck, screened porch and stone patios flank the southern side of the house, offering space for relaxing or working outdoors. High speed internet and wifi are available, but no television. We have 4 dogs: a friendly Corgi (our Concierge), a shy Great Pyrenees rescue, a sweet Norwegian Elkhound, and a friendly rescue Cockapoo mix. Our 2 rescue cats are mostly outdoors. Many wild birds visit our feeders year round. We have Icelandic chickens that free range and lay delicious eggs (sometimes it's a bit of an egg hunt to find them!), and Swedish ducks that keep our garden free of pests, and provide endless entertainment. In the summer, our house is surrounded by perennial and vegetable gardens, and a growing orchard on the hill above. Our property is adjacent to the Appalachian Trail Corridor and is contiguous with Land Trust and town forest, offering access right out our backdoor to miles and miles of trails for walking, hiking, mountain biking and cross country skiing. Each season offers opportunities to glimpse wildlife and birds. We hope you will consider our home, Solheim ("sunhouse" in Norwegian) for a beautiful Vermont mountain retreat within easy driving distance of many northern New England attractions and activities year round.
  • Magic is the only description that comes to mind! So true that this little cabin comes straight out of a fairy tale... We absolutely loved our stay with Alexandra and Martha in their soulful and vibrant sanctuary. Not only is the cabin comfy and delightful, the main house and surrounding garden are beautiful too. We so enjoyed our breakfasts on the sunny deck watching all the colourful birds: striking blue jays, lovely bright finches, even hummingbirds! and lots of others we didn't know the name of... Also our hosts really love their region and were full of helpful suggestions re. where to go and what to see. We have completely fallen in love with Vermont!

  • This past week my girl friend and I had the wonderful opportunity to stay with Alexandra and Martha, in their mountainside cabin retreat! The property has all of the charm one could imagine of idyllic Vermont, we were kindly greeted and treated by our hosts and their loving animals. Each morning we woke up to the birds singing for spring and the rush of the long thaw , the small creek adjacent to the cabin alive with the seasons warmth! We look forward to returning and spending more time with our gracious hosts on their beautiful property!

  • We traveled with our 2 kids and had a great visit to Norwich. The cabin is fully equipped for a cozy stay, and we had a very warm welcome from the hosts. We loved the natural surroundings, and our kids loved the pets. We hope to be back again!

  • Alex and Martha were wonderful hosts who made us feel welcome right from the moment we arrived. They are open, honest, friendly people who love hosting friends and guests. This was our first experience of AirBnB and it was our favourite place to stay. I visited with one of my sons, but I would love to return here with my wife and introduce her to Alex and Martha. After this visit (three nights) we consider Martha and Alex our friends rather than just our hosts. Vermont is beautiful and friendly and this area is no exception. The property is just minutes away from the famous Appalachian Trail and there is virtually no traffic on Podunk Road. The cabin is very comfortable and, in case you are worried, the compost toilet is clean, hygienic and easy to use and there are no unpleasant smells :-) Everybody we met from the neighbours and local dog walkers to through-walkers on the Appalachian Trail was very friendly and more than happy to stop and chat to strangers.

  • Alexandra and her partner were wonderful hosts and we truly enjoyed our weekend at this Mountainside Retreat. The cabin is the perfect get-away space: tastefully furnished, spacious, comfortable, warm. The main house with the kitchen and bathrooms are easily accessible. We cooked two meals in the main kitchen, which is fully equipped. Overall, we can fully recommend this beautiful and peaceful jewel.

    Christoph2016-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Truly idyllic. Alexandra and Martha are truly the hosts you hope for, and their homestead is a sanctuary. They opened their home to us and shared their beautiful spaces and animal friends, yet gave us all the privacy we required. The cabin itself is very comfortable, outfitted with everything you need for a cozy mountain stay. The included breakfast was a fresh brewed pot of coffee, home made granola, fresh eggs from their Icelandic chickens and local jams to top the bread we had baked at King Arthur down the road. A spectacular value for the money spent, my only hesitation in recommending is worrying that they'll be booked when I want to stay again!

    Ronald2016-05-18T00:00:00Z
  • Alexandra was an ideal Airbnb host-- extremely prompt in responding to queries, available when we needed her, but she gave us as much space as we wanted. And the cabin is exactly as advertised-- a perfect Vermont retreat.

    Hannah2014-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Alexandra's cabin was a wonderful change of pace for us. Very quiet and beautiful spot with sweet pets on the property. We enjoyed coffee on our little porch while watching the ducks mill around the pond. A short drive to good food and great hiking. Would definitely stay here again when we come back to the area.

  • This airbnb is at an amazing location surrounded by gorgeous mountains and trees. The bungalow is located at the backyard of Amy's house across apple tress, you will have enough of your own space and privacy. The decoration in the bungalow is very lovely and charming. Amy is very thoughtful and communicative- she gave us a quick tour of the place upon our arrival, provided us breakfast and responded to our questions fast. We really enjoyed the hot tub with the mountain view in the backyard very much. This airbnb will be an excellent choice for you if you want to go to the White Mountain or Hanover, or just simply relax in the nature.

    On a Hilltop in Vermont
    2 reviews
Villino Totensin means "House of Totems", a mid-century, modern, open-plan timber frame cabin, constructed from whole trees (these are the totems). The space is magical, funky, rustic and quirky, yet comfortable. The setting is private, in the Vermont woods (full of songbirds in warm weather, sheer beauty in winter). A view of the Connecticut valley, stone fireplaces, huge windows and a wood-fired hot tub near lakes, rivers & mountains: swim. skate. ski. hike. soak. 15 minutes from Hanover, NH.
This timber frame home was constructed using entire trees, harvested from the property, they stand, like totem poles, visually joining the surrounding woods. The south-facing, wall of glass window blurs the boundary between inside and out. It's like living inside the Nature Channel, in a reverse snow globe, surrounded by weather, but cozy, inside. Two stone fireplaces flank the main space, to enjoy firelight (during cold months), one even has a built in oven that can be used for cooking, if desired. Wide pine and oak floors made from timber from the property and milled just up the road. There is space to prep and eat contained in the rental suite, but the full kitchen, on the main floor, is available for guest use. Privacy Note that the Sky Room itself is private, with bed, table and chairs, lounge area, etc.. The loft area is semi-private, open to the main body of the house. There are folding screens to create privacy, but it is open to the ambiance, sounds, etc. of the main floor, below. Again, the loft is open to the house, so the semi-private loft, with privacy screens, etc., really needs to work for you. Please consider this, before renting. Thanks! FYI: This rental is for the Sky Room Suite, which does not constitute rental of the entire main floor. You are invited to pass through the main floor space, yet be aware that we live there and you will find evidence of our lives there. Entire House Rental is possible (ask about fee and availability): but this listing is for just the Master Suite a private room with it's own bath, loft and deck (with view (leafy view in full spring/summer)).
The neighborhood is very rural. This house is in the woods and other homes are only visible from the edge of the deck, or through the woods. None the less, we have a variety of great restaurants in the area and Hanover, NH is right down the road (15 minutes) where concerts, movies, dance performances, etc. are usually available. WINTER SPORT A ski slope (the Dartmouth Skiway, visible out the front window) is about 15 minutes away and has two chair lifts, and bunny slope, lodge, rental center and very reasonable rates. Two larger ski areas are each 60 miles from the house: Okemo and Stowe, both outstanding options. Cross country skiing is readily available near the house. The Lake Morey Resort golf course (1 mile away) is an excellent choice. WARM WEATHER SPORT Lake Morey is a large (600 acre) lake, a mile away and is great for swimming, boating, and maintains an fantastic ice skating track in winter. The Lake Morey Resort (at Lake Morey) has an 18 hole golf course (par 70), club house, bar, spa and special events. River swimming holes abound, nearby, I'll leave a listing in the house. They are perfection. Really. There are many local farms in the area that produce local foods, cheeses, meats, maple syrup and more. A listing of great visits will be available to guests. Hiking trails are available all around the local area. For a bigger climb, the White Mountains are about an hour and a half away, providing excellent mountain hiking / climbing and more.
  • Harrison is a gracious and welcoming host who took my partner and I in for the night on our first Airbnb experience! The hot tub was nice and toasty when we arrived and the whole space was open and inviting. There are seemingly endless nooks to retreat to for relaxing in both the main space and room/loft upstairs. Everything was clean and orderly and Harrision was very pleasant to coordinate the stay with. We would recommend anyone interested in staying in the Upper Valley to check Villino Totemsin out!

    Kyle2016-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is a “destination house,” a unique space you’ll tell your friends about. Harrison and his daughter Nivi were incredible hosts and I instantly felt comfortable there. The overall house is funky and fun; there are large windows, a heated stone bench to laze on by the fire and an outdoor wood-fired hot tub that can be enjoyed in any season. As another reviewer mentioned, the star-gazing is incredible here! The upper-level suite is large, private and welcoming. I liked all the natural light and the fact that there was a personal deck. You enter the suite by a metal spiral staircase and through a semi-private loft that includes a nice lounge area and a seriously deep soaking tub (there are privacy screens around the tub section). There is also a private bathroom (toilet and sink) and a kitchenette with a mini fridge, coffee maker and microwave to store your personal food items. The house is a mile from the beautiful Lake Morey and 15-ish minutes from Dartmouth College.

    Mora2016-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Harrison's place is beautiful, romantic and clean. The host Harrison is super helpful and easy to communicate. I will recommend anyone staying here to use the hot tub! Super relaxing!

    Sai2016-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • We only spent the night at Harrison's place. His home is stunning and he was very welcoming and laid back. Love to come back for another getaway! Thanks!

    Katherine2016-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Harrison (and his daughter) were wonderful and friendly hosts. The house is so charming and eclectic. We had the most perfect weekend there. I would book this place again in a heartbeat, anytime I am back up in Vermont. This is certainly not your typical, generic IKEA variety Airbnb. It is a very unique experience. We loved it!

    Daniel2017-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely part of Vermont... sweeping views of the mountains wherever you drive and numerous small lakes and rivers nearby for swimming. The local town beach is never too crowded and the lake itself is delightful, with a good sandy bottom and raft for floating on your back in the sun. The "sky" room is painted robin's egg blue and is indeed nestled up in the treetops at the back of the house. If you want total sound privacy close the big glass doors to the upper loft. Harrison is a kind and generous host and goes out to his way to make folks feel comfortable. All around great drop out destination for the outdoorsy type.

    Julia 2016-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Harrison's home is truly a magical place, made even more impressive by the fact that he's built most of it himself with wood from the land. There were so many things I loved - the massive windows and all of their natural light, the beautiful surrounding woods, the electic, funky decor. On top of all of this, Harrison is an excellent host - welcoming, engaging and thoughtful. My boyfriend and I stayed last weekend when it got down to -22 F! Harrison made sure we had enough blankets and a space heater in the room just in case, though, the two fireplaces on the main level kept the home plenty cozy. I can't leave out Nivi, Harrison's adorable, bright, 4-year old daughter, or Mardi, their old, chill cat that mainly hangs out on the heated bench. They add to the wonderful, homey feeling you get when you're here. I highly recommend a stay at Villino Totemsin.

    Michelle2016-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Harrison's place in early October and it was amazing. His house had a very unique layout and the views from our room and the deck were unreal. Harrison was very responsive and gave us clear directions. He also gave us tips about where to eat around the area. We also soaked in his hot tub and it was very relaxing and one of the highlights of our trip. We had never experienced a hot tub like that before, but it fit the mood and was perfect for a cool night in October. Harrison was very engaging and talked with us when we arrived, but also was respectful of our space later in the evening. It was a great experience and we would highly recommend staying with him.

  • A homely lakeside cabin in the woods of Vermont, Rick and Lauren are wonderful, warm hosts.

    Ken2017-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Rick is a great host. The cabin is comfortable but basic. It was perfect for my needs.

    David2017-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Rick's cabin was absolutely amazing! Clean, very thought out, unique with lots of rustic decor. He was such an awesome host and the breakfast that was brought to us next morning by Lauren was awesome. The grounds were absolutely beautiful. The location is perfect. Close to a big store and a few places to eat. At the same time the cabin feels very private and secluded. Two things to note, the space is pretty much one big room with a small divider at the foot of one of the beds. The cabin doesn't lock over night (there is no lock). However, traveling throughout north-east this is something people do here time to time;) overall, It was our favorite place on this trip and we definitely would love to come back.

    lena2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay and very nice hosts. Beds are comfortable and clean house. Outdoor grounds and fire pit are nice to relax around.

    Jeff2016-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Rick's place was super cozy and clean! Directions were very clear and Rick gave us some good suggestions for where to eat dinner around the area.

    Melissa2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had wonderful rest staying at rick's....nice beds. We loved the experience staying at the cabin. Thanks so much for having us.

    Chairuna2017-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was even more charming than we anticipated when we booked and we enjoyed staying there. Rick was very understanding when we thought we had booked his place for a night longer than we had, even checking into other local options for us.

    Brodie2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • A picture perfect weekend in a picture perfect place. Rick and Lauren's place is amazing...we can't say enough about it! Our two boys loved all of the games and toys as well as roasting marshmallows over the fire that Rick had built. We loved the super comfortable beds, the immaculate cleanliness, the in-house coffee maker, the really cool books...really we loved all of it! The homemade muffins and sweet rolls, yogurt, juice and fruit delivered in the morning in a basket just topped off one of the best airbnb experiences we have had.

  • I stayed at Kyle's place with my family and we loved it!. It's a big, gorgeous and clean house with a great atmosphere so I would definitely recommend it. For sure one of my best airbnb experiences!

    Bernard2017-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Kyle's place is a cultural experience. Lots of open space, nice views of the trees. Great hospitality.

    Neil2017-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Kyle's place was the vacation we were all looking for. Our group consisted of four of us from Rhode Island, Long Island and Brooklyn. While the city life can get kind of hectic, Kyle's cabin was the perfect destination for a relaxing getaway from it all. The atmosphere of the house was warm and cozy, that was full of Zen. The aesthetic was super artsy with an antique feel. While the phone service wasn't the best, if you needed to make a call or get online there are plenty of amenities. Otherwise the lack of phone service was exactly what we needed. Kyle's communication was awesome through our entire trip. Super fast at replying to all of our questions and made it a point to check in to see how our trip was going. I would definitely recommend again, as well as book another trip!

    Samantha 2017-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • Kyle, we had such a great time and we couldn't stop commenting on how perfect your house is. We were so comfortable and we enjoyed discovering new things about the house everyday. You've clearly put a lot of thought into this house and we really appreciated it. Our dog loved your screened-in porch and all of the large windows. We had a really fun time stargazing at your house and going for a hike on trails just a few miles from your house. This quiet, peaceful location was just what we needed. We would definitely stay here again!

    Stephanie 2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Kyle was helpful and hospitable! Our stay was very enjoyable, the place was so clean and the views from the deck were incredible!

    Kirsten2017-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Wow what an amazing place Kyle has! We stayed here for 3 days recently and had a very relaxed and peaceful time. Kyle’s place was extremely cosy and very clean with some extra lovely touches such as use of Netflix and the Wii. Thanks again Kyle.

    Tim2017-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Kyle is truly a Super Host. Communication was great. The house is awesome, very well taken care of. We found it clean and it exceeded all our expectations. The location is amazing, it was perfect for leaf peeping. A pro-tip for other renters: As other reviewers already mentioned, the cell signal in the area is pretty poor, so if you are using something like (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps to get there, you should do a 'Offline maps' download of the area and you won't run into any GPS issues.

  • This cottage was the perfect getaway. With a grocery store only about 20 minutes away, we were able to stock up and relax over the Christmas holiday. The kitchen came well equipped and the dining and living room provided spectacular views of the fog rolling into the valley below.

    Daniel2016-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The house was amazing! A truly wonderful place to go to get away for a bit. It is in a beautiful location with an amazing view, near nice places to swim and places to get amazing farm produce. The actual house is also well equipped and very comfortable. I had no complaints being there and would recommend it to others to visit without hesitation.

    Josh2014-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • This house was great! It was spotless. The size was perfect for our group of 6 plus one dog and one 3 year old. The kitchen was very well equipped which allowed us to cook at home both nights. The view from the porch was incredible and we loved having snacks and drinks there every evening. The location was ideal for the bike race we were up there for. It was also not too far to Hanover and to the Northeast Kingdom. Rachel was wonderful to work with. Very helpful and her responses were always prompt. We would love to stay there again!

    Caroline2014-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • Rachel's home was perfect for our family holiday stay. It has amazing views and a great kitchen. The house was very clean and well-stocked. We really appreciated how accommodating and flexible Rachel was with our reservations. We would definitely stay in this house again when we are in the area.

    Nan2015-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was fully furnished and had everything and more than what we expected. With a glorious view of the valley and an amazing sunrise over the mountains.. it was a serene and wonderful place for our weekend getaway. The host was really nice, they even arranged show shoes for all of us for our hiking.. there is a nice trail just a mile away.. The Morey lake, which has an ice skating rink in winter is just nearby, but was not frozen enough when we went :( Overall an excellent stay, would recommend to my friends :) Thanks Rachel for letting us stay.. we would definitely visit again..

    Davidson2012-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful way to spend Memorial Day weekend. Everything was as I hoped, the view is really incredible, and the house is very well designed and organized: the gas-fired stove kept the entire home very comfortable despite the late-season snow we received. We had four kids (ages 1.5-9 years) and four adults, we had plenty of space at the table and around the rest of the house.

    Gregory2013-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • I came up with a few friends to go skiing and this cabin was great! It's close to a few resorts to you can pick where you want to go. The house is great there are two fireplaces that heated the house in only mins. And they left snow shoes for us! So we got to take a walk around the property. I look forward to going back next year!

  • We had a fantastic time at Rachel's home in Fairlee. We got in a bit late at night, and she was kind enough to make a trip to the house to turn on the heat and lights so we got in ok. Very cozy and comfortable, and tons of great hikes and fun things to do. Thanks again!

The neighborhood is friendly and quiet.
  • Ashley's place on Lake Morey was perfect for our family weekend trip. The view from the deck is unbeatable and she had kayaks and all sorts of games/water toys to use. We were a group of five and had more than enough space. Target Rock is a true hidden gem of VT! Ashley was very hospitable and we really felt at home. Would love to go back someday.

  • Ashley was easy to reach and very responsive to inquiries about the property. She left us a welcome note and a bottle of wine upon arrival and the house was clean and ready for us to settle in. The location was absolutely ideal for us - Lake Morey is beautiful and the rustic cabin is right on the lake with a sweeping view and access to 4 kayaks, a large row boat, a canoe, fishing poles (we caught two large mouth bass!), nets, life vests, flotation devices - everything you could want to relax on the lake. She even offered to rent us their motor boat, which we didn't do - but it would have been fun with water skis, wake boards, and other ways to have adventures on the lake. It is a gorgeous 5-mile run around the lake and less than 2 miles from stores and the Lake Morey Resort. The house had five well equipped bedrooms, which easily fit our two families of four. There are tons of games and children's toys available for all ages infant on up. The kitchen is small, but very well equipped with a large refrigerator, high end pots and pans, and even a very nice knife set. We love to cook and have never seen such nice kitchen amenities in a home we have rented. The house itself is a cabin with two levels and you have to go outside between each, which made it a little harder to go between and keep shoes out of the house and floors clean. Otherwise everything is screened in for airflow in all the rooms. We happened to hit a rare Vermont heat wave with thunderstorms and showers but it didn't dampen our fun at all, we were able to time our lake time between storm bursts and spend other quality time with family playing games or out on adventures in the surrounding area.

  • OMG, where to begin. I am in love with this place ... Yes, love. I am a grandmother and I came with my 4 grandsons ... ages 6 weeks, 5, 9 and 10. The older three had a BLAST. Whether they were fishing, looking for turtles, doing cannonballs off the pier or kayaking, they had fun. And so did the adults. Me, I was in heaven on the porch reading, watching the littlest one sleep peacefully and enjoying the view and sounds of fun. I want a Lake House of my own. It was SO peaceful. Seriously, I want one. We plan to go back again and again. The place was perfect.

  • We had a wonderful week on Lake Morey. Prior to our arrival, Ashley was timely in answering any questions. We had no need to contact her during our stay. The neighborhood was quiet and people friendly and respectful. The house had a great cottage feel with plenty of room for our group. The loons, eagles and blue heron were an added plus. I would definitely recommend this listing to a friend.

  • Had a great stay here w my family. Our 5 & 7 year olds loved exploring the back fields & tractors & my wife & I loved the amazing mountain view. Fay was great & had the place very well prepared for our visit. It's an out of the way spot with no cell/internet service, so we could really disconnect, which is exactly what we wanted

    Fay's Country House
    1 review
Huge 3,424 square foot, 5 bedroom (plus full size futon in great room), 2.5 bath. ROW to lake across street and private dock. No neighbors nearby. Perfect spot for a large family reunion or small event.
Perfect location for a family reunion or a multi-family get together. This 1885 mansion originally built by Ely Goddard, grandson of the founder of the Ely Copper Mines, was moved across Lake Fairlee in 1912 to its current location at the tip of Lake Fairlee. The expansive kitchen features custom cabinetry, nice appliances, and a huge center island. The great room is solid wood (floors, doors, ceiling and walls; cherry, black walnut, butternut), 11 ft ceilings, a fireplace, original light fixtures, and a domed castle style front door. Upstairs are 5 bedrooms and an 8 ft rose glass ceiling lit by the light filtering down from the cupola. Bathrooms feature walk-in tile showers, marble tile floors, and a seven foot claw foot soaking tub. A second story, three-sided balcony surrounds allows views of the lake and barns that sit on 3 acres.
  • The house was beautiful, spacious, and functional. Loved the lack of cell service so we could really enjoy our time together, and loved being able to play old records. The beds were also surprisingly comfortable, and we didn't have trouble finding the necessities (read: grocery store) nearby. Usually with 10 people in a house, it can feel tight, but we could all easily hang out in the kitchen while cooking, kabutz in the living room, or nosh in the dining room!

    Melissa2016-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • With a beautiful view of Lake Fairlee and access to swim or boat, this house offers all the comforts of home in an 1800's modernized home. While modernized, the house has so much ambiance and an old feel with the high ceilings and glorious dark wood paneling. The kitchen is a dream to work in, and a grilling area with picnic tables plus a large fire pit with an abundance of seating are new this year and very enjoyable. Comfy beds, plenty of linens and the homey setting make for a perfect getaway.

  • We're coming back! Thank you so much.

    Michelle2016-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • The house is lovely--an architectural gem! Access to the lake is easy via a new stairway, and the kids had fun jumping off the dock. The road in front of the house is busy by Vermont standards, but we never had trouble with noise or with crossing to get to the lake. It felt like a real getaway!

    Meg2016-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing home and experience! Can't wait to get back. Perfect for a quiet getaway or a big reunion. The open, warm, sunny inviting kitchen with expansive counter space is a great place for a morning cup of coffee or the bustle of preparing a huge meal. The home is a gem, on the laketop hilltop that it is beautifully restored with charm, beauty, and functionality. Just the perfect balance of funky, history and modern conveniences. Felt like a loft merged with turn of the (20th) century glamour. The décor is tasteful, simple, and interesting. The house is incredibly spacious and allows for a large party, while giving everyone their own space, including a comfy "TV" room, a reading room. The house was clean and uncluttered. The album collection is incredible and we enjoyed rocking out to some of the best reggae, rock, and jazz musicians. Interesting books on the shelves-- from classics to massive picture books. We enjoyed the winter activities in the area, but would love a summer return with the big field in the back of the house and the lake right in front. The hosts left easy directions about how to get to and into the home.

  • A perfect fall getaway. Awesome views of the lake and the surrounding thick vegetation. From check in to check out, everything went smooth without any glitches. The bedrooms were pretty big enough and the huge Kitchen and the living room is where we spent most of our time. Early morning Coffee time was the best. Took our cups out in the front enjoying the morning for and spectacular views of the lake. Deirdre was always in touch and made sure we were all comfortable. I would definitely recommend this place and will revisit in the future.

    Kalyan2016-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • All communications with Deirdre were friendly and done in a timely manner. We had stayed in the house several times before under the previous owners and found the upgrades and renovations done by Deirdre to be very classy, warm and welcoming. The house is absolutely lovely with lots of character and 19th century charm but offers visitors all the amenities of modern day living. The surrounding area is beautiful with wonderful views of the lake and mountains, lots of available swimming, hiking and canoeing, and plenty of places to eat and shop. We look forward to staying again in the future.

    Ed2016-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • We rented this Fairlee Lake property in July of 2016. It was absolutely fantastic. With 5 bedrooms all upstairs it allowed our party of 6 adults and 3 children plenty of space. The house is a gem, its huge, historic and well kept. The kitchen has been updated with new appliances, a nice island for socializing, and everything you need to cook a great family meal. Throughout the house there are beautifully tiled bathrooms with clawfoot tubs, a variety of hardwoods on the floors and walls and funky comfortable furniture in all rooms. We enjoyed the variety of kids toys and books for our children and also spent hours playing records from an extremely respectable vinyl collection that crossed multiple genres (rock, folk , jazz, ska etc.) Our favorite part of the house was the enormous gothic front door. Opening it during the day lit up the house and sitting out on the front steps watching the sunset over the lake and mountains is not something we will forget anytime soon. We spend time floating off of the dock across the street, which did have a heavy flow of traffic, and also went at the local public beach (Treasure Island) that was 2 min away. Upon booking we were unsure if there was going to be an easy fun place to bring our kids to swim. We found that with Treasure Island, it was a clean sleepy well kept sandy beach with lifeguards, shared sand toys, 2 dollar paddle boat rentals, a playground, docks and rafts to swim off of. Deirdre, the owner, was prompt and professional and very responsive with any questions or issues that popped up. The house was clean and prepped for guests when we arrived. We honestly felt lucky to be there. Would definitely come back. Thank you!

  • Amanda is a most gracious host! I have been working in the area as a travel nurse and stayed with Amanda for an extended period of time (3 months); it has been a wonderful experience. Everything I could have needed was provided..... and after a long shift, it was nice to feel as if I was going to my "home away from home." The home is so nicely furnished with lots of storage and there are so many nice touches as well, including the fireplace in the bedroom. It has been a wonderful experience and I highly recommend this beautiful apt for those that are visiting one of the prettiest areas of Vermont! You will not be disappointed! Beech Craft is a small cozy 1940s cottage located on beautiful Lake Morey. Queen bed & 2 bunks in bedroom, daybed in kitchen/dining area, recently renovated bathroom. Small porch w/ lake view across street. Rustic, comfy, adorable. No dock but public beach is a 5 minute walk. (Sorry, no pets!)
Our cottage was a guest cottage for a lake resort for many years. If its walls could talk it would tell you stories of many years of family fun, late night card games and laughter.
  • Highly recommend this cabin retreat- the front screen porch is a great place to unwind and take in beautiful Lake Morey. Karen is an awesome hostess! Just wish we could have stayed longer!!!

  • Karen made my sister and I very welcome in her adorable, peaceful, charming little cabin by the shores of Lake Morey. Our only regret was that our stay was so short. Dianne and I wished we could have stayed for the summer........ We had a wonderful evening and morning there sitting on the front porch breathing it all in. Thank you Karen, for sharing your lovely home!

  • Cute cottage with a nice screened in porch to enjoy a cup of coffee or a glass of wine over looking Lake Morey. Was able to take a hike up BaldTop Trail and a bike ride around the lake. My daughter and I enjoyed our stay.

  • The cottage is in a beautiful location right on Lake Morey, so the view is lovely. It has a great rustic feel to it, it's not flashy but is very charming & welcoming. The enclosed porch is great for sitting & admiring the view. We didn't spend a lot of time there as we were visiting our daughter at camp nearby. The bed was extremely comfortable. This was our first Airbnb experience. Karen & Brian were friendly & very welcoming.

    Edwina2016-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing place! Karen's place is wonderful, perfect for a gate-away out of town while not too far from cities, walking distance to the lake but still in the forest, with no close neighbors but not completely alone - simply put, this a jewel of location! The facilities were surprisingly recent (great shower), the only thing that might be missing would be heating though we didn't need any during our stay, though there is an electric heater available and thick blankets, and Karen took the time to personally asked me if I was okay with that before confirming the booking. This was a 5/5 stay, and I would love to come back there !

  • I rented Beechcraft for my brother and sister-in-law for a family reunion which was held near by. Harry & Robin could not have been more pleased with their stay at Beechcraft. It is an incredibly charming cottage with views of Lake Morey and it has an inviting screened porch. They loved hearing the soulful sound of loons and seeing the amazing star-filled sky. Karen was wonderful to work with. Robin & Harry will be back! Hink Herrick

  • We had such a wonderful stay at the Purple Palace and can't wait to return! Carolyn is an incredibly thoughtful and kind hostess. She was so accommodating and generous - and she has the sweetest family and an adorable dog too. The home setting is serene, beautiful, and wonderfully secluded, but it's also relatively close to great towns like Hanover NH. Carolyn is the epitome of an artist and the artwork in the home is captivating - museum quality. Abandon the phone and tv- come here with a great book and relax in one of the many hammocks throughout the house. Pure joy.

    diane2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Carolyn's house was exceptional. It was spotless, comfortable and cozy. The surroundings are breathtaking. Carolyn was very attentive before we arrived. She left several food items (coffee, milk and butter) to make our morning easier and relaxed. She also came over to introduce herself to us in the morning and was very friendly. I would definitely recommend this place for a family reunion. We will consider staying here again if the opportunity arises. Thank you Carolyn! I know it takes a lot of work to prepare for so many guests and for only one night.

CabinSense is a private oasis on 175 acres with 3 large ponds hidden in the hills of Vermont. Simple and rustic, it stands in stark contrast our modern-day lifestyle. Without electricity, cell or Internet, it is offered as a special place to escape, unwind, rest & recharge. The main cabin has a bunk bed and a twin bed, a wood stove with oven, a cooler and an outdoor fire pit with grill. A second cabin accommodates parties larger than 3 but no more than 6.
The Main Cabin is made of full-scribed (swedish cope) white pine logs, 12 to 14 inches in diameter. The building is 16x18 feet with a 6 foot covered porch. The roof and sub floor are fully insulated with recycled fibers and the floors are planked with rough-sawn 2-inch-thick hemlock. Inside, there is a hand-crafted bunk bed, an antique table, chairs and a wood-fired cylinder stove with oven and side-mounted hot-water tank. The Extra Cabin - If you have more than 3 people in your party and no more than 6, there is a second cabin with 3-burner propane stove, dry sink, wood stove, screen porch and sleeping loft with king bed and a single bed. This cabin is not insulated, but is spacious and located only a few minute walk from the main cabin on the other side of the pond. We only offer this cabin as extra space for groups larger than 3 but no more than 6. The minimum base rate is $150 for the main cabin plus $25 per person for parties with more than 3 people up to 6. The Land - The cabins are located on 175 acres of pristine Vermont forest populated with old-growth trees, well-defined trails, moss covered rocks and ledges, deep valley bogs, elevated hilltops and three large ponds. The cabins are located next to the south and middle ponds. The Ponds - The ponds cascade one to the other and are supplied by cool mountain springs located on the property. Each pond is suitable for swimming, kayaking, canoeing and fishing (perch). Together they attract and support an abundance of wildlife including duck, owl, deer and black bear. They are surrounded by hiking trails and have multiple access points, including a 30-foot rope swing next to the main cabin, docs and swimming raft. The water is cool and refreshing. In combination, this "space" is like renting your own National Park.
  • Wonderful! The perfect getaway.

    Cody2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Chris was an amazing host right from the first email and made everything easy and understandable with respect to directions and explanations of all the unique characteristics of the property. The property was immaculate and well stocked for us, and it exceeded our expectations. We had a wonderful one night/24 hour stay and enjoyed the property immensely! When we first arrived there, we did some "pond hopping" in the afternoon with our kayaks - experiencing all three ponds to the greatest extent....... later in the evening we enjoyed an excellent meal at the Lyme Inn - only a short 10 minute drive across the river to Lyme, NH. Upon return, we made a fire inside the cabin because it did get a bit chilly at night. We loved the wood stove in the cabin (very responsive) and heated up the place very quickly. We cooked a nice breakfast in the morning and really appreciated the propane stove.... the burners were great to cook on...... after morning coffee and breakfast, we hiked up the red trail and enjoyed the incredible view of Ascutney and the mountains to the south. Again, Chris was a wonderful host and made the whole process very enjoyable. We never met Chris in person, but he made it clear that he wanted to respect our privacy but that he would be there if we needed him for anything. This is a real special place! It really is like a national park.......... sans tourists! We hope to return in the winter to experience it in an entirely different light.

    Michael2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Such an amazing experience! Chris gave us detailed instructions to get there and even allowed us quite an early check in! The kayak and river tubes provided were a great plus! Would highly recommend! A true wild experience!

    Vandana2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Chris was great during the transaction. If you have a Lamborghini, do not attempt to use it to get to the cabin. Jokes aside, a normal car will do if you are careful. It shows great care was put into the site. Recommend it to fully escape for up to 4 people for 1-5 days.

    Marc2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is secluded and amazing. Chris has thought of most anything you need for utility or fun including a canoe, tubes, fishing rod, the cleanest outhouse I or my guests had ever seen. It is the real deal. Just know that the cabin is about a half mile down a varied terrain dirt road so 4 wheel drive, SUV or truck is preferred especially if it has just rained.

  • Great cabin very quiet and peaceful lots of hiking and fishing it is a great get away from cell service and traffic can't wait to come back

    Andrew2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is the epitome of privacy, beauty and simplicity. Our family had a magical day swimming in the pond, cooking over the fire, resting on the porch overlooking the pond, and exploring the beautiful forrest around the cabin. It is a quintessential log cabin, with beautiful rustic furnishing and comfortable beds. At the end of a long forrest road, it is entirely private, lovely and serene. We had a wonderful time and are already planning a return trip next summer.

    Nan2017-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage at three ponds is a special place. Because it is "off the grid" with no running water, plumbing, electricity, or wi fi, you have the unique opportunity to really unplug and relax in the beauty and quite of nature. We visited in summer and enjoyed the spring fed ponds perfect for lounging in and around on hot summer days: your own private beaches! There are many trails around to hike. It was lovely to watch the sunset, light candles, and crawl into the very comfortable beds. Make no mistake though this is a rustic getaway (with very comfortable beds!). But if that is what you seek, this is the perfect place. And Chris is a friendly and very helpful host. After a day of torrential rain, Chris came to check on us and worked hard the next day to make sure the private road in was fixed so we could get our car out. (My Camry made the trip over the private dirt road to the cabin; it was just the fluke of a torrential downpour that tore out parts of the road.)

Beautiful location on the CT River!
  • Marjorie was so nice and thoughtful as a host, and the location is idyllic. On top of the cottage having every essential that you might need during your stay, she made us the most incredible coffee cake with handpicked blueberries from her garden, that we gratefully devoured. I doubt we could have found a better place or host in the area!

    Kerns2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Marjorie is an especially wonderful host. The cabin is exactly as described with views of the river and a great screened porch for relaxing. It's clean, quiet and peaceful yet close to the event we came to the area to attend. She outfits the lovely cabin with coffee, juice and other treats like a delicious apple cake. We would definitely recommend it to others.

  • Fantastic cottage in a great and peaceful location. The cottage has all the facilities you need and is in driving distance a a few good places for food. A great location to chill out and / or visit a wide range of other locations in the White Mountains or in Vermont. Marjorie was a great host, very welcoming and delicious homemade cake on arrival!

    Kathryn2017-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a relaxing, refreshing three nights at Marjorie's very clean, charming cottage. The cottage is beautifully decorated and the setting is peaceful. The view of the river is stunning and serene. Marjorie has supplied the cottage with everything needed to cook and enjoy simple meals, and we were greeted with delicious blueberry coffee cake, orange juice, and plenty of coffee to enjoy during our stay. We are very grateful for our time spent there.

Rustic, yet comfortable, lakeside cottage on Lake Morey. You can enjoy your large private dock plus multiple watercraft (a canoe, paddleboat, and rowboat) or sit on the deck overlooking the lake to watch the sunset. There's an additional large patio area on the other side of the cottage that includes a full-size grill, picnic table, and swing chair. Fall asleep to the sounds of the water lapping the shore and spend your days sunning and swimming!
Roomy upstairs living space with dining area and two sofas, plus a full kitchen, and bathroom with shower. Cottage has 2 bedrooms downstairs and a sleeper sofa, and sleeps 6 comfortably. Please note that you access the second bedroom downstairs by walking through the first, and there is no door between the two (there is a wall) so there isn't much privacy -- more suited to families. It also has 2 decks, including a large patio area with a grill, picnic table & swing chair, plus another patio. Large private dock w/ watercraft for guest use.
    There's nothing like lake living!
  • We loved our stay at this cottage. The area is breathtaking. Everything was readily available, the dock was easily accessible and right outside our door. The boat, canoe and ready to go grill were a bonus! The fishing was great, we caught 4 species of fish during our short stay. The host was kind and helpful. Todd has a lot of great recommendations for hiking, entertainment and food. Our only wish is that we could have stayed longer on this scenic lakeside cottage.

    Samantha2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • The ultimate lake live! The cabin is perhaps basic but als just what it should be. It has comfortable beds and also the pull out sofa sleeps great. There is a conoe, rowing boat and paddle boat, all grat xtra for a day at th lake. It has th evening sun on the dock. Todd is a great host, very helpful. I can highly recommend this place!

  • Location, location, location! The cabin is in a prime spot and we loved listening to the waves lapping at night and the loons in the distance. The kayaks and canoe were wonderful and it was great to explore the waters and swim in Lake Morey, which was surprisingly warm. Todd was an excellent host, meeting us at the house on our arrival and showing us around. He also provided excellent restaurant tips (Ariana is great for a fancy dinner and we also loved the Samurai Soulfood restaurant in addition to Whippy Dip and the Lunchbox in town) The welcome bag of coffee was a thoughtful touch. As advertised, the interior of the cabin is rather basic but functional. It was clean and the beds were comfortable. Thanks Todd for a lovely few days in your lakeside cabin.

  • Todd's house in Lake Morey has a fabulous view of the sunset and is quite peaceful. Todds house reminds me of a camping cabin, and if you are looking for a very simple get away right on the lake with canoe, kayaks and row boat included this could be a nice fit for you. Todd reached out before we arrived with his phone number and met us at the house to let us in. This house is very rustic, and we notice that he is making improvements to the kitchen and bathroom and look forward to seeing how they come out and perhaps returning once they are complete.

    Jennifer2017-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolutely wonderful time staying at Todd's place. The cabin itself is simple but very clean and has everything you could need for a weekend at the lake. The lake itself and the surrounding mountains are beautiful as well. Todd was an excellent host, very accommodating and easy to communicate with. It was so nice being able to use the grill and the canoe/kayaks on the lake. We had an absolutely fantastic time staying here for the weekend and would gladly book again. Highly recommend!

    Drew2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!! It was hard to leave the dock on the last day. Very rustic cabin, exactly what I was hoping for! Thanks!

    Shannon2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • To start, communication was excellent from start to finish. Our stay was just what we had hoped for, and this lovely camp is the perfect setting for making family memories and was exactly what we were looking for. With the gorgeous view of the lake and lovely quiet setting, it's just the thing for getting away from it all. We were provided with the warmest welcome as well as great suggestions for things to do and see around Fairlee. We loved fishing off the dock, kayaking and stopping in town for a flea market. On a rainy day, Quechee was a short drive away for an outing and browsing the shops. On cool nights, the wood stove was just enough to keep us warm.

This lovely home is located on Lake Fairlee in the quiet and quaint Vermont countryside. Just 17 miles from Dartmouth, this is the perfect place for visiting parents of college students, family vacations, or anyone looking to get away from it all.
There are two bedrooms on the ground floor, one with a queen bed and one with two twin beds. There is also a pullout couch (double bed) available in the living room. On the upstairs level, there are two twin beds that can be converted to a king bed, and ample room for multiple air mattresses.
  • Our host Jill made us feel welcome by having the home open and ready for us with bed and kitchen linens, soap, dish washing detergent, paper towels, games, books, puzzles, WiFi, typed instructions for staying at the house, and a well-outfitted kitchen.

    Nancy2016-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • We all loved our stay at the cottage. It's a beautiful area, and we had everything we needed. We were visiting a friend at Dartmouth, and it wasn't too far away. The kitchen is fully stocked so we were able to make a really great morning breakfast. Although, I didn't meet Jill, she was always very responsive when I had questions. I would definitely recommend staying here!

    Beata2016-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • Jill was a fantastic host! She was very accommodating, kind, and answered all of my concerns promptly. Her humble abode is cozy, clean, and quaint. Her home is fully winterized and warm despite it being -15F during our stay. I would recommend Jill's cottage.

  • I went up to Lake Fairlee with some friends for a weekend getaway, and the cottage was perfect! Right across from a beautiful lake, close to gorgeous hiking trails, cozy and comfortable and fully equipped house with space for the 7 of us. The house is small but has everything we needed, including kitchen equipment, a stocked bookshelf, and a great patio. Jill replied quickly to all communication and was super helpful. Thanks for a great weekend!

    Mimi2015-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • The home is very comfortable with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom downstairs and a large room with a bedroom upstairs. The kitchen is small, but the screened in porch and large backyard make up for it. The house is very close to Lake Fairlee but unfortunately you can't see the lake from the house. The access to the lake is narrow so it's more of a simple boat launch than a place you could hang out. You can however drive to the public beach access on the other side of the lake if you'd like.

  • Justin and Maggie were extremely welcoming. With the exception of toothpaste there was nothing that I needed. Lol The place was above and beyond my expectations. The photos on they Pro vied do not do justice to the space.. The space is well-designed down to small details. Justin and Maggie had Maps along with restaurant locations and menus available in the unit. It took a little while to get to the location, but wad extremely worth it. I'm already planning my return trip.

  • We loved staying at Justin and Maggie's beautiful studio! This is such a special place -- they have created such a peaceful, lovely studio. We loved listening to river go by, sitting by the cozy stove, and just relaxing -- we just wished that we could have stayed longer. And it was so wonderful to get to meet Justin and Maggie and chat by the campfire. They had wonderful local recommendations for restaurants and hikes around the area. We hope to come back soon!!

  • Justin and Maggie were such sweethearts. We were in town for a wedding and arrived in just as it was getting. They came out just as we pulled up and welcomed us. The place has a freakin' pot-belly stove and a yuge bed. They even pre-loaded the coffee maker for us. It as so good. We had the pleasure of running into them after the wedding and chatted for a good half hour and I shit you not, I'd stay here again just to learn more about Justin's woodshop or about Maggie's work at the bakery/store. Oh yeah, you get PANCAKE MIX for FREE and there are BALLER breakfast sandwiches 100 yards down the street. For serious, check it out.

    Jacob2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Justin & Maggie were wonderful hosts and great people. I can honestly say – among all the positive experiences I've had with AirBnB – this might have been the most satisfying. Great hosts, a wonderfully apportioned studio apartment, and situated in a corner of the world that is beautiful and holds wonderful memories. To anyone visiting this slice of Vermont or New Hampshire I would recommend this place enthusiastically. I know that whenever I return I'll be staying here again.

This charming 1820 farmhouse at 64 River Rd., 18 miles north of Hanover, is a seasonal home that accommodates large groups in 7 bedrooms & 3 baths. Available June 7 - Oct. 19 for single or multiple families. The house is not suitable for weekend parties and does not have central heating.
Peaceful Valley Farm is located on the River Road along New Hampshire’s scenic river byway. The fully furnished 1820 historical Federal-style farmhouse has been the seasonal home of three generations of the Huntington family because it easily accommodates large groups: three bedrooms with double beds; two bedrooms with 2 single beds; one bedroom with 1 single bed; and a bunk room with 5 additional beds. There are three bathrooms located upstairs, two with showers. The large kitchen is heated by a converted wood-to-propane stove and one of the 2 living rooms has a working fireplace. Two refrigerators and a walk-in pantry with 3 sets of china and every possible piece of cookware make this gathering space functional. The covered porch adjacent to the kitchen has seating for 10-12 people and the expansive lawn is used for croquet, badminton, bocce and whiffle ball (all stored in the barn). Two charcoal grills and a gas grill make cooking outdoors possible. Although worn by the ages, this old house still exudes incredible charm and conviviality. However, it's location on a quiet road next to neighbors make it unsuitable for large groups partying all night and making noise. Absolutely no fireworks or smoking on the premises.
The neighbors south of us in Lyme, NH occupy the Moses Kent Farm, a Federal-style home that has been restored and placed in easement n order to preserve some of the best examples of Rufus Porter's murals. Lake Morey and Lake Fairlee are nearby, making this a convenient place to stay when visiting campers or looking for a weekend of golf or boating.
  • We had a very large group (12 people) stay at Lindsay's farm house. Lindsay was extremely helpful and gracious to answer our questions before booking. The house is very large and accommodates a large group. The structure of the home is lovely and the land is great.

  • We found the farm to be a rustic, restful and altogether pleasant getaway. It is as advertised, no wireless or TV. Perfect for exploring the upper valley canoeing, hiking or just relaxing by the river.

  • Old farmhouse in a beautiful location.

    Ron2017-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • One of my favorite places on earth! Such a wonderful and spectacular home and property with so much character. I spent the weekend here with my closest girlfriends and we used the spacious and well-equipped kitchen to cook a giant meal one night and went to one of the many delicious local restaurants that Lindsay recommended on the second night. We hung out on the dock by the river, took a dip, played lawn games in the giant yard, relaxed on the porch, and visited the very nearby and beautiful Lake Morey. Couldn't have asked for a better setting for our special getaway. I would definitely stay here again, but next time it will have to be for much longer than a weekend! Too much to enjoy!!

    Melissa2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I had a wonderful stay at this charming farmhouse. We loved the history, the surroundings, and the feel of an obviously beloved family home for generations. The kitchen and bathrooms are not up to date, but we knew that before we rented and were fine with that. We were only 20 minutes away from Dartmouth and were able to easily get back and forth for graduation activities. Our host, Lindsay, was very helpful and answered all my questions. We had friends come over Saturday evening and ate outside on the picnic table enjoying the surroundings. We had a wonderful time!

  • We had a wonderful time at Peaceful Valley Farm. The house is large and rustic. Even with 10 of us there were plenty of beds and common space. Villino Totensin means "House of Totems", a mid-century, modern, open-plan timber frame cabin, constructed from whole trees (these are the totems). The space is magical, funky, rustic and quirky, yet comfortable in the Vermont woods (full of songbirds in warm weather, sheer beauty in winter). Stone fireplaces. Huge windows and a wood-fired hot tub near lakes, rivers & mountains: swim. skate. ski. hike. soak. 15 minutes from Hanover, NH. In the room: Queen canopy bed. Private claw-foot tub.
The Red Room is a 12' x 20', timber frame bedroom, on the main floor of Villino Totemsin. It boasts a beautiful, queen-size canopy bed, an in room, elegant claw-foot tub and an overstuffed, comfy leather chair. A recent guest compared the feeling in the room to a 1930's, Hollywood, movie star hide-a-way. Rich and lush, heavily patterned. Currently, the space is not fully decorated and finished (it still needs a couple of trim boards). Still, it has a wonderful feeling and you'll enjoy the ambiance.
  • Harrison and his family were warm and welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed getting to know them, and liked very much the house and surroundings. Harrison is courteous, helpful, and knowledgeable about the area. We recommend staying at his home. He is justly proud of the huge amount of work he has put into this great house.

    Biorn2016-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Our experience really exceeded our expectations. Harrison has built an incredible art piece in the middle of the Vermont woods. We were greeted warmly and shown to our lovely room complete with four poster queen bed, water closet and beautiful claw foot tub large enough for two. Outside on the large deck, we enjoyed the hot tub heated by wood. It was a very private experience even though Harrison and his adorable daughter were in residence. We still revel in the eclectic art, floor to ceiling windows facing the deck and woods beyond. Will be a sweet place to visit in the snow later on. We had a five star experience.

The bedroom, although leading directly from the kitchen / living area, was private and peaceful, and we slept well. Coffee was available each morning, as well as interesting and thoughtful conversation if we wanted. Altogether Harrison is a warm, generous host and we unreservedly recommend his place

It is located a beautiful lake and they even gave us access to kayaks that we used in the morning. We were in town for a wedding an the alternative was staying at a nearby campsite that would have been more than double the price since we were coming with a large family. This was simply one of the best experiences i have had on Airbnb and i've used it all over the world. Can't recommend it enough for a relaxing stay in the beauty of Vermont

We are near I91 with all amenities available in the Upper Valley. Boating, hiking, golf, antiquing, art galleries, swimming, excellent restaurants are in the proximity of this lovely, quiet space. There is a small frig available for guests. We will be happy to spend time with guests and share what is available in the area. Minimum two night stay. There is a private area for one to sit and enjoy the property.
  • We had a really peaceful stay here. Faith was warm, attentive and welcoming. The room is facing the back yard which was a beautiful view to wake up to. We only had a small chance to connect with Faith in person on our way out, but I'm so glad we did.

  • Faith was an amazing host! She greeted us with refreshments and answered all of our questions with kindness-- from helping with directions to giving suggestions on local restaurants, hikes, and more. The backyard was especially lovely, with a bench looking out to a babbling brook and some beautiful trees. Her dog was also very friendly.

  • Faith's place in Orford is just as described--cozy, tranquil, and located within access of many beautiful sites. Faith provided us with plenty of tips on nearby sites and restaurants, and although out of town at our time of arrival, she made our arrival easy with detailed directions. And she made coffee for us on the way out of town. Faith's hospitable and easy to communicate with. Definitely recommended!

Furnished antique farm house in Orford, NH. 16 miles north of the Dartmouth College campus with easy access to Exit 15 of I-91. Five bedrooms (2 king beds, 1 queen, 1 full bed, 1 twin) plus a finished attic that can sleep a gang. 3 full bathrooms. 5 acres. Country setting next door to large dairy farm - wonderful neighbors! The house has an occupied apartment attached - another great neighbor.
    Beautiful antique country farmhouse.
Rural setting with easy access to Hanover, NH (Dartmouth College), Connecticut River, Lake Morey, Lake Fairlee, White Mountains, Appalachian Trail, skiing, golf, etc. Next door to a wonderfully interesting dairy farm, complete with robotic milking machines - and the farmers love to give tours!
  • I greatly enjoyed my time spent in the Lovejoy home. The historic farmhouse has everything you will need. The dwelling was clean and nicely decorated. I used the house as a base so that I could explore both Vermont and New Hampshire. It is also conveniently located just a short drive from Hanover and Dartmouth College. Be sure to visit Ariana's Restaurant situated just north of Orford. Although there were only two of us, the farmhouse would be perfect for a larger family.

  • We were very lucky to find this place as we had our family visit us soon and was looking for something spacious and not far from Hanover. The house is great and has everything you would need for a short or long vocation. It's located about 15-20 min drive from Hanover in a beautiful rural area of New Hapmshire. The house was very clean and had everything we needed for almost 4 weeks stay. The hosts, Carl and Cari were very kind to tell us about the area and even let us use their little garden if we needed. There are plenty things to do in the area. There is a milk farm next to the house that is worth to visit especially if you have kids, there is a beautiful lake Morey 5 min drive, where you can take a boat, kayak or just swim, there are many farms around you can visit and 'pick your own' fruit or berries and so on. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at this place and will gladly come back next time we plan our vocation in New Hampshire

  • The house was exactly as described. Beautiful property, lots of bedrooms, very clean, and great amenities. We would definitely stay here again! Thanks Carl!

  • The house was beautiful and very quiet. We wanted a place where we could house the whole family and be comfortable while we attended my daughter's graduation and this fit the bill nicely. We were welcomed upon our arrival, shown around the house and given all the information we might need during our stay - it was perfect. The yard and fields yielded some relaxing walks/runs and wildlife viewing.

    Rebecca2016-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • This Orford home is the perfect set up for a family! Carl is an amazing host, who welcomed us on our first night and gave us a tour! The house is easy to find and centrally located to many Vermont and New Hampshire great adventures. We would definitely rent this home again! Thanks Carl!

    Jenn2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • This was a nice house in a beautiful setting. We were there with another family, totaling 3 kids and 4 adults, and the house was a good size for us. The house is close to Hanover and Norwich, as well as Lake Fairlee and Lake Morey, and several hikes that were manageable for the kids (and us). It is a secluded but well-maintained property close to farms but about 5 minutes from the small town amenities. Our hosts were accessible but not intrusive, so we could contact them easily with any questions, and they made us feel welcome. We had a great stay!

  • Amy has thoughtfully constructed a truly peaceable kingdom! When I was unexpectedly laid up with a virus and forced to rest inside both days, the setting was perfect. The space is bright and spacious with lovely views of gardens and forest all around. And there is a beautiful deck wrapping around two sides of the cottage. The bed is delightful and the fridge thoughtfully stocked with local treats. Thank you, Amy - We shall return!

    Josephine2016-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • I went to Amy's for a romantic, secluded overnight and it was great. Her quiet apartment/cabin/small home is pretty and comfortable. It was a rainy weekend, so my partner and I enjoyed the comfortable couch and nice view.

  • Great place to get offline! Loved staying in this sweet little house. Had total privacy. It's very clean and Amy had fresh eggs and a frig full of food that she gererously left for us. Great place to get away and unplug. Amy was great and so were her guinea hens.

    Shawn2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Amy's place is beautiful Vermont cabin. Amy was a pleasure to meet and a gracious host. There was all the fixing for a great breakfast right in the fridge. We enjoyed the beautiful surroundings during our short visit. If we are ever in this neck of the woods again we will surely stay at Amy's. NOTE don't trust your GPS to get you there. The GPS connection was poor and did weird things!

    David2016-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful. Very secluded and private. The area around the cottage is full of flowers - so beautiful. The cottage is a perfect size and Amy could not have been nicer and easier to chat with. The cottage is beautiful inside - very comfortable and clean with everything you could need. Amy offered to buy me food prior to my arrival to make it easier since it is a little drive to the store. She brought me freshly baked bread and cream for my coffee too! I'll stay here again for sure!

Cozy rustic two bedroom cabin with screen porch on 110 acres in Lyme, NH. Relax on our waterfront on 115 acre Post Pond. One of a cluster of cabins at Loch Lyme Lodge, welcoming guests seasonally for almost 100 years.
The Connecticut River Valley creates the boundary between Vermont and New Hampshire. We are 3 hours south of Montreal, 2.5 hours north of Boston and 4 hours north of NYC. Enjoy local art museums and galleries, music and readings, restaurants and farmer's markets. Biking, boating and hiking are all close by.
  • Liz, Jay and Amy were extremely gracious hosts, and always available when we needed something. We arrived a little after 8pm (and the restaurant closes at 8pm) but the chef kindly put together a dinner for us. We didn't need to leave Loch Lyme, as breakfast was included daily, there was a lunch window serving sandwiches and such, and dinner was delicious in the lodge. We especially appreciated having access to the kayaks and SUP; the lake was pristine and quiet. We will definitely return... thank you for your kindness and a truly relaxing weekend getaway! :)

    Shelynn2015-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay in a 2-bedroom cabin. The cabins are charming and rustic. We walked down a path to the main house, and across the street to a beautiful lake. We swam, took out paddle boats, and lounged. The Loch Lyme Lodge is a family-friendly facility my parents both side reminded them of warm childhood memories! Liz is absolutely lovely. She is welcoming, warm, and sat with us at breakfast. She invests her heart in her guests, and it shows.

    Lindsay2016-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was cozy and had many thoughtful amenities - even though there was no central heat (by design, this is a summer cabin and we stayed over a weekend in early October), the innkeepers gave us a space heater, extra blankets, and had arranged plenty of dry firewood, kindling, and newspaper outside the door for us to use in the fireplace. They also compiled a great babysitter list, in case a guest needs to hire one (we did), and Liz recommended a couple great coffee shops in the area. I can't say enough nice things about out hosts - what a pretty, welcoming place! I definitely recommend it, though you should bring warm clothes to sleep in if staying after Labor Day!

    Megan2015-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • We received a warm welcome from innkeepers Amy and Jay. Our cottage was beautifully prepared for us. The setting along Post Pond is so serene. We loved the quiet time we spent paddling kayaks or just sitting by the water's edge. We also enjoyed meeting and chatting with some of the other guests from around New England and beyond. Loch Lyme Lodge is the perfect antidote to our busy lifestyle and hectic schedules. We are already planning a return visit.

    Emily2016-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • Loch Lyme was just what we were looking for. Rowing on the lake gave its the opportunity to feel like we were on vacation. We all loved the rural feel. It was a little nippy but we were prepared. I t was fun communicate with Liz. We would like to come back if our son gets into Dartmouth.

    susie2015-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts were delightful, welcoming and helpful. The location is lovely and serene. We enjoyed the rustic cabin nestled in the woods and all the fresh air! The fireplace was perfect for making s’mores as well as for warming us up in the evening. I especially enjoyed the free access to the ample supply of rowboats, canoes and kayaks on the lake. It was great to get out on the water at my leisure without any time pressure. If you go kayaking look for the tributary on the opposite side of the lake near the public beach. I was able to kayak quite a ways before it got too shallow and I had to turn around. We will be back!

  • Super time at LLL. Family of four (2 adults, 13 yr old and 5 yr old) loved the waterfront, the dog friendly aspect, the rustic but comfortable cabin, the sunsets, the friendly hosts and staff and the food. All around great experience at a quaint cottage in New England.

    Melissa2016-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • A very charming place - perfect for our Dartmouth homecoming weekend. Our hosts left plenty of firewood and a portable heater and we were cozy, despite the chilly weather. Loved having a kitchen to make coffee in the morning. We would love to return.

Rustic, cozy 1 bedroom guest house for 2 with full kitchen and bath in rural VT, 30 mins from Hanover NH.
I have lived in this sweet little barn for years while renting out the main house - it is a sweet, cozy tiny house! Now I have decided to rent out the barn while I do renovations in the main house. The space is perfect for two but a twin bed in the living room can sleep one more if needed. Dogs are welcome as long as they are house trained and won't chew or break anything.
I am located just a few miles from Interstate-91 but tucked away on a quiet dirt road and close to Lake Morey and Lake Fairlee. There is awesome hiking in the area and a small downtown area a few miles away.
  • Very sweet little barn- lovely setting! Mary left yummy baked goods and fresh coffee for us in the morning:-)

    Meg2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • First of all, Mary is a wonderful host just getting into Airbnb with a small converted barn in the midst of Vermont's lovely countryside. A fully equipped kitchen, looks-like-new bathroom, and comfy queen-size bed - the kind you can fall asleep on before you take off your glasses (like me). Mary is SO considerate - two sinful cupcakes on the counter next to a Keurig coffeemaker, and enough nice new plates, stainless steel table setting, baking vessels - the works. All around you are lovely New England farms. In one direction is a modern Hanniford supermarket less than 3 miles away - and if you're there on a Saturday night, you can get the whole regional experience by visiting the Bear Mountain Speedway, a dirt track course like the one a kid named Mario Andretti raced on 60 years ago. This is not a "Holiday Inn" - this is the New England electic which is why you are coming to New England and not Manhattan!

    Mel 2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Mary's barn apartment was adorable. It was clean, quiet and set in some beautiful countryside. Mary was extremely responsive to any messages I sent and left a couple of delicious muffins for us! We had a great time there and will definitely return!

    Dan2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Mary's barn is wonderful with a comfortable bed and linens, plush towels and hot shower, stocked kitchen, and cozy options for seating and lounging with lots of great books. We didn't get a chance to meet Mary, but she was welcoming and easy to communicate with via email.

    Donna2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Mary's "barn" was the perfect location to be close to Bradford and East Corinth for a weekend getaway. It was private and quaint with beautiful flower gardens surrounding the home. Mary had provided muffins and everything we needed as we used Mary's as our homebase for hiking. I especially appreciated Mary's communication as I finalized the location and arrival time. I would recommend this location for a visit to the VT mountains.

    Margaret2017-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Location had limited options when we booked here as we normally do not book places without a lot more reviews on them. The place is ok but does need a little more finishing touches.

    Daniel2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first time staying with Mary and it could not have been any better. She was just so sweet! She made sure that we had everything we needed (including snacks) and even left us pamphlets on things to do in the area since I had asked her previously for ideas. She truly went above and beyond to make sure we didn't miss on anything the area had to offer. Thanks to her we made it to opening day's breakfast buffet at the Limlaw Maple Farm. All in all, 10 out of 10!

    april2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Mary and her family warmly welcomed us into the house. The house had everything we needed for our stay and was very clean and beautifully arranged. We really loved the way she has decorated the house which brought character to it. We would highly recommend "The Barn" at Bradford!!
