This newly renovated loft was re-created from a long-neglected space in the historic Sheffield building. A perfect getaway for two, the loft is located above the area’s hottest new restaurant, the Houndstooth. Classic urban finishes - high ceilings, exposed brick, hardwood floors...and an expansive view of City Center Park.  Houndstooth draws diners from as far away as Chicago - a visit to Benton Harbor will not be complete without experiencing the big city fare of this hot spot.

The space
Located on the third floor (no elevator) this bright loft overlooks City Center Park and makes a great place from which to explore the Benton Harbor Arts District and surrounding destinations... Lake Michigan is a short drive, downtown St. Joseph is across the River, and the Golf Club at Harbor Shores is just around the corner.

The Arts District is a transitional neighborhood. Generally quiet, though some guests find the urban feel a bit edgy.. You will park at the rear of the building in a private surface lot. A parking fob will be furnished to allow access to the gated lot.

The 650sf loft features an open kitchen/living room, bathroom, and bedroom and includes a stacking washer/dryer. Fully furnished with everything you need to enjoy Southwest Michigan! Some guests report that the AC/furnace fan is loud. Please note if you are a light sleeper!

Please note the living room couch is not a sofa bed, you can sleep on the couch.

Guest access
The loft shares an exterior entrance and hallway with 3 other apartments. Guests will park in a private surface lot adjacent to the building.

Other things to note
The loft is located two floors above the Houndstooth restaurant, a ‘New American’ bistro that opened in 2019 to rave reviews. The Houndstooth brings farm-fresh, artisan dining to your get-away experience. Shared plates, craft cocktails, and fine wine will blow you away. A romantic covered patio provides guests with an alfresco option during warmer weather. Reservations are strongly recommended!

To ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience for all, we encourage and request all guests to review our house rules before completing their booking. Neighborhood highlights

The Arts District is a walkable Renaissance neighborhood that has evolved slowly over a span of nearly twenty years.  A bit edgy...perhaps mysterious.  We’re home to the Mason Jar Cafe, Verde Juice Box, Forte Coffee, the Livery Brew Pub, and Water Street Glassworks, as well as several studios and galleries.  The District is a work in progress - you’ll notice vacant buildings along with those in various stages of renovation. First-time visitors may find the area on the quiet side, but the future of the neighborhood is exciting and continues to attract creative pioneers and investors who add to the historic urban vibe.  Your visit helps build our story!

We’re just one mile from Whirlpool’s Riverview Campus and right around the corner from the Golf Club at Harbor Shores, home of the Senior PGA.  The sandy beaches of Jean Klock Park along Lake Michigan are a short drive away and offer beachgoers the most expansive sandy beach in the area. St. Joseph is just across the river, offering additional dining and shopping destinations.
