We had a great stay at "The Bunker". Sandy,Tim,and Lori are the best. WE are definitely planning on staying in this "diamond in the rough" on future trips to Northern Maine. We only wish we had found it earlier. Might not be the right match for just anyone. The Bunker is a very unique stay. Just so happens that's where we found the charm of it all. *****
A serene riverscape at sunset reveals a vibrant sky filled with hues of orange and pink, mirrored in the calm water below. Silhouettes of distant hills frame the scene, while gentle ripples add texture to the reflective surface, enhancing the peaceful ambiance of the location.

Allagash Wilderness Hideaway

I rented this place for my Husband, Son and Father to go scouting for their moose hunt! My son says, "the host was very kind and accommodating and made sure to make you feel right at home!" Everyone's kindness in the area made him want to move there! My Husband says, "It's a great place stay with a great atmosphere! everyone we ran into-wether it be on property or off- were super friendly! The hostess gave good recommendations for local places and the food at the diner was delicious!" My Dad also really enjoyed his stay, loved the food, admired all the old hunting memorabilia and was very greatful for the glasses that he was landed so he could read the gazetteer! Overall, they were very pleased with their stay, would highly recommend and would be happy to return! Thank you for providing them with a great place to stay this weekend!

Couldn't have been happier with staying here. Tim & Sandy and Lori were wonderful hosts and helped us get a room on short notice. We can't wait to come back with the snowmobiles in tow! We love the Bunker Inn!

Ironic that such a peaceful place was once a Strategic Air Command base housing nuclear weapons and B52s! This place is a great find if you're looking for a comfortable and peaceful place to stay. Lots of room: large living room with kitchenette, large bedroom with comfortable bed, and a nice bathroom. It's not updated to modern tastes (think 60's era), but is clean and everything works as expected. Good wifi too. Tim is a great host and can tell you all about the history of the base and its namesake. Note that you are not in a city or even a town here so plan accordingly for your meals. Sandy (co-host) recommended Northern Maine Brewing Company in Caribou, and I highly second the recommendation as I got a great meal there. Bottom line: I HIGHLY recommend this unique airbnb, and will certainly plan to stay here next time I'm in the area.
