I can't say enough good things about the The Empty Nest Cottage! The house itself is gorgeous! If you want to get away this is the place to get away too. I couldn't quite pick a favorite room, maybe the living room with beautiful arching ceilings but then there was the master with its own sitting room connected, or could it be the basement with lots to do for adults and kiddos including the two and one game ping pong/pool table. Don't get me started on the outside! From the pool, to the jacuzzi, and just nature surrounding I can't decide! But best of all the hospitality from Shawna Lynn and James were beyond measure. We enjoyed ourselves so much we asked for another day! Thanks again for such an amazing get away!

Ive stayed at this wonderful home many times so I knew it was a treasure. However, the newest owner Gretchen really made this place even better. Clean, cozy, it has everything you need for a perfect moutain getaway. All the little touches and welcoming treats were greatly appreciated and enjoyed. Can't wait to return!

My husband and I had a fantastic time at the cabin. It was a little tricky to find but once we re-checked the check-in photos and instructions Dee included, we found it right away. The cabin is very clean, and the perfect balance of “rustic” and comfort. We enjoyed climbing the ladder between floors- we felt like kids in a treehouse! The hot tub is well positioned to maximize the view. Everything was perfectly relaxing, quiet, and peaceful. We’d love to come back again and would recommend Dee’s cabin to friends. Unrelated to the cabin, there’s a little stack of local info by the tv on the main floor and after sorting through it looking for dinner recommendations we decided to try Vito’s. It was auh-mazing! Quiet cabin in the woods. We were very pleased with the added bonus of fresh muffins and eggs that they left by the host. Great woods surround the cabin and we had several deer come through during our stay. Even though it was cold out we were still able to be warm inside and the cabin did have good hot water.

I had a great last minute getaway here and I agree with the other reviews, it’s so much better than the pictures give it credit for and was so comfortable with everything I needed. It is located adjacent to another property, it’s above the garage although only one or two steps if mobility is a concern for you, it’s very accessible. No one was using the other property so it was great to be alone. I had coffee on the front porch every morning as the deer came to say hi and listened to the beautiful soft (read very quiet) church bells in the distance on Sunday morning and watched as the sun rose over the trees. It was so peaceful and relaxing. Easy access to hikes with my dog we both enjoyed the yard. She would lie in the grass by the fire pit and we watched the sun set after a long day of hiking. I recommend bringing your food as I didn’t see too many restaurants, also I had cell service with both Verizon and T-Mobile. All in all a great place if you’re looking to escape!!

This place was just great. Pulling up the mountain to the cabin we just weren't ready for just how great the view was. Visiting at the end of April, the cabin is a great space to just feel secure while sleeping. We did everything out doors, and regret nothing. I'd love to come back in the Fall/early winter months to experience the inside a bit more, not that we couldn't have, but the outdoor temperatures were perfect, and there were very few bugs to bother us. Everything inside that we needed was situated well and with intention. We very much enjoyed our stay, definitely one of our top experiences for that off grid, self reliance feel.

Had a wonderful stay at paddlemore ended up doing a little bit more paddling then planned but had a great experience! I look forward to coming back and doing the trip again. Beautiful place off the beaten path highly recommend staying here! Host was very knowledgeable on the area and had great communication! Thank you for the stay!

This was an amazing getaway. The home is cozy, clean, and inviting. The property is private and beautiful. There were plenty of day activities for us to do with our dogs. Suzy checked to make sure we had everything we needed and that we were comfortable. She is a very gracious host. Highly recommend

This was our second time on the farm and we loved it! Communication was wonderful and they let us check in a little early which was great. We appreciated all the recommendations and tips for making our cabin warm and comfortable. Thank you so much for an amazing off the grid getaway.

I stayed in the cabin on the river, I must say it was probably the best few days I’ve ever had. Such a beautiful and peaceful set up, not to mention the farm as a whole was amazing. I will definitely be back!

We had a wonderful stay at Sarah’s cabin. The space was clean and comfortable, and the views of the surrounding property were beautiful. Sarah went out of her way to make us feel both welcome and at home. In fact, she left us breakfast supplies, including fresh eggs and homemade muffins! (She even left us supples to make s’mores!) The location was super convenient for us to visit the Virginia Safari Park and the Natural Bridge State Park as well.

The cabin was amazing. Exceptionally clean! It has all the charm and comfort items you would need for a week. The cows are a sweet added bonus. A quiet and peaceful location with spectacular views.

Was a beautiful house and even more beautiful Property. The creek was beautiful, lots of area for kids to explore. Very well kept. The only issue we had was we could not find the cute fire pit by the creek the pictures showed. Other than that we had a great time and would highly recommend. Also should be stated to bring plenty of bottles or jugs of water.

We cannot say enough great things about the owners and this beautiful cabin!! If you are thinking about booking, think no more and do it! Not only was it absolutely beautiful on the inside but the area outside of the cabin made us feel like we were in our own sweet world. We saw deer, squirrels, so many birds, it was on the river and it was dreamy. The cabin itself was so fun! To stay in a real log cabin was a bucket list item and it was very pristine. There were wonderfully helpful notes all around to help us out and did I mention it was beautiful?!???

Had a pleasant stay. Really enjoyed our time there. Gorgeous getaway in the woods. Approach can be tricky with some cars since the last 1.5mi is a hilly and kind of bumpy gravel road.

My wife and I loved staying at Laura's cabin. It was described perfectly - adorable and perfect for our quick stay. The cabin is quaint and super cute and the cabin sits on beautiful grounds. We loved the early morning on the back deck watching the sunrise! Devil's Backbone and Three Notch'd are about 10 minutes down the road for some really great beer, and there's a ton of wineries all around. Great place and we enjoyed our stay!!
