Please ask if you would like to have a friend for a short visit.
  • Brenda was so kind and welcoming! Her place is perfectly located and I was able to find plenty of places to hang out/eat around the neighborhood. This was my first time in the city and Brenda made me feel at home and made sure I was okay. Would definitely love to stay here again in the future.

  • Brenda's place is perfectly located for exploring San Francisco. Brenda and Matt made be feel most welcome.

  • Brenda was a great host and really helpful with suggestions for what to do and where to eat. Her neighbourhood is only a few blocks from the 16th St BART station, safe, easy to walk around and, best of all, really has that SF feel to it. She lent me a set of City Walk cards which were great for exploring the Castro and surrounding neighbourhoods - from beautiful murals and incredible tacos in the Mission district to the village feel of Noe Valley. The room and flat were comfortable and clean, and her dog and cats were always friendly company. All in all this is a great place to stay if you're coming to SF!

  • My stay in SF with Brenda has been a lovely experience. She's not only a wonderful host but also an amazing person! She's super friendly and has a very warm heart. I feel so comfortable with her and she did make me feel welcomed. Also Brenda's place is tasteful decorated. The kitchen is so nice and bright, it makes me want to learn how to cook! If you do come to SF, please don't miss Brenda's place. The neighborhood is so lively and full of nice cafe and restaurants. I've been to all the places that Brenda recommended, and they all vey nice! Thank you Brenda for making my stay in SF so lovely & have fun in Africa!!

  • Brenda is a great host! She was super welcoming and flexible. I stayed there for 6 nights and I just loved it. The neighborhood is great with walking distance to the Castro and Mission/Valencia Street. The apartment is exactly as described. I just loved it! The room is small but for one person totally enough. The best thing about the apartment is Ike's Place, just 100m away. I 've been there a couple of times as the sandwiches are just awesome! I will definitely recommend Brenda's apartment to everybody. I will stay there again when back in San Francisco.

  • Brenda was an amazing host. I instantly felt comfortable and knew that I could contact her for any assistance. The room was just as described and perfect for anyone traveling alone. I loved the area of the place, so close to everything. Delores park was just a short walk away. Transportation was very convenient as well. I will definitely stay here again when I return to San Francisco. Thank you Brenda for making my stay so wonderful!!

    Victoria2013-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Solo travelers stay here!!! TRUST me, it was the best experience I’ve ever had with Airbnb. I would definitely return to stay with Brenda.

  • Brenda's house truly is perfectly located. Had a great time staying with her and her sweet dog and cat. She sent me the key by mail in advance as she wasn't there to greet me, which was a really nice, service-minded gesture. Absolutely reccomend a stay in the Castro at Brenda's.

Welcome long term and short term guests! This fantastic 1930's home on a dead end street in Central San Rafael is a perfect space if you enjoy a quiet and serene setting that is close to everything but feels like a retreat. Downtown and groceries are an easy 10 minute walk. The bathroom is shared, as are the full kitchen, living room, and back yard, but in general all of these spaces are lightly used and readily available. Please no heavy drinkers or drug use please.
Great space, very relaxed and peaceful atmosphere, chill space in back yard, and a wonderful hot tub that is set on the hot side. I also just installed a small infrared sauna! Woohoo!
Lovely, quiet neighborhood to stroll in, lots of great food and coffee shops nearby, very close to world class mountain biking, surfing, kayaking, paddle boarding, kite surfing, fishing, hiking, etc. There is storage in the kitchen for your food, and it is a nice space to cook in. Parking is down the hill about a 3 minute walk, and there are stairs going to the house.
  • We had a great time staying at Casa Lucien - Lu was a generous and kind host. And the hot tub was amazing! Thanks Lu for a wonderful stay.

  • It is very comfortable just like home!

    Molly2016-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • It was my first Airbnb (long-term) experience, and Lu made it an amazing one. The location was excellent, the room was accurate, and Lu was a great host. The house really is central to the city, activities, as well as major roads, yet quiet enough up the hill to feel removed from the commotion and enjoy the stars at night. Sunlight floods the rooms, and the views outside remind this East Coast city-boy that he's "not in Kansas anymore." The bed is spacious, and almost too comfortable. I'm used to shared bathrooms, and it was not an issue through three separate roommates, Male or female. There's plenty of cabinet space in the kitchen, and Lu recently updated the Fridge which is a nice touch. Lu is a very welcoming individual, and is open yet respectful of privacy. He knows the area well, and is quick to answer any questions one might have. Whether a short or long-term stay, Lu has my recommendation without hesitation.

    Lawrence2016-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Lu is a great host. Very accommodating and generous. Gave us full use of the living area, kitchen and invited us to take whatever we needed from the refrigerator. His home is warm, clean and very pleasant.

    Michal2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great!

    Daniel2017-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Lu's location is great for exploring the north bay. He is a hands-off generous host who trusts guests to display common sense and courtesy in using his kitchen, sauna, hot tub, etc. The king bed is very comfortable and the neighborhood quiet. As he mentions in his ad, ample parking is on the street a couple minutes down a street; also be aware that you may be sharing an adjoining bathroom with someone staying in the other guest room. Overall, we had a very good stay and wouldn't hesitate to return.

    Eian2017-12-12T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place, very peaceful in a great setting!

    Moriel2017-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • Lu is very welcoming and makes you feel very comfortable. He is very helpful and offering different ways to help. Very cool and awesome place. I would recommend the place to anyone who wants to stay in San Rafael. Awesome experience.

  • Mathias runs a great Airbnb house, rooms are clean, neighbourhood quiet, roadside parking, kitchen on offer if you want to stay in or go out as the centre of San Rafael is a quick drive away. I was staying for the racing at Sonoma and is a good location for there only being 20 mins drive away.

  • Amazing place for work or vacation

    Kyle2017-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Our group of 6 business managers had a great 3-day retreat here. It was secluded enough for our purposes, but also quite close to restaurants and excellent options for taking group hikes. The rooms were all comfortable and the public space worked out very well for holding meetings. The kitchen/deck also made for comfortable cooking and meals for the group. I'd certainly go back and would recommend this place.

    Ron2017-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect place for a work retreat. More than enough beds for the 12 of us, incredible views, and a kitchen fully stocked with supplies for large group dinners.

  • Nice and cozy house

    Suwanto2017-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • A big, not-too-fancy, not-too-shabby place where we had a nice meeting. Pleasant views, great tree out back, but not much nearby to walk to if you want to get out a bit. The kitchen is well appointed -- we cooked for 12 people every meal with no problems.

    Duncan2017-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures on the listing do NOT do this house justice. The view, the deck, the grounds were all lovely. We loved our stay and the house felt spacious enough for 12 people and we never felt crowded. The house could use one more bathroom, but we made due. For the view alone and the proximity to SFO and Sonoma/Napa the house alone is worth it. Made my wedding weekend so special. I hope to be back one day.

We have a quaint and clean little room here, one that I myself stayed in as a child. The whole place feels wonderfully secluded, tucked away cozily in the green and lusciously vegetated hillside. Welcome to one of the safest neighborhoods in the bay, quiet as can be with the only noise being the neighbors landscaping.
The neighborhood is very safe and peaceful. We keep our door unlocked and have had no incidents in 22 years!

This micro "tiny home" studio with A/C and heat is an amazing retreat in the backyard of our main house. It's situated on an exotic hardwood deck with a two person hot tub, under to a 700-year old redwood tree. Outside, take a HOT shower under the stars alongside a curtain of bamboo in a beautifully landscaped garden. There's a cold water sink, mini fridge, Apple TV with Netflix and Hulu, and Wi-Fi. We're located 15 minutes from San Francisco, and 45 minutes from Sonoma and Napa wine country.
This is a unique experience for guests looking for something a bit different. The studio is a tiny space, insulated well, and features solid bamboo flooring. It's cozy and comfortable, with a quality TWIN-sized futon for a bed. We provide a fancy memory foam mattress pad, nice pillows, and a down comforter that combine to make the sleeping arrangement quite enjoyable and intimate. The toilet is in the corner of the room, separated by a curtain. The sink brings in cold water only, so it's perfect for handwashing and teeth brushing, while providing potable drinking water. There is a remote controlled A/C and heating unit which keeps the climate perfect, although open windows in Northern California are usually just right! Watch shows using the Apple TV, equipped with Netflix and Hulu, or log in to your iTunes account to watch whatever you'd like. Use the Amazon Echo Dot to summon Alexa to play music, get restaurant recommendations, or turn on the lights. A mini fridge is provided to keep beverages and light snacks cold. The studio is not equipped for cooking or heating up any food. You will have a coffee maker to enjoy along with fresh ground coffee, coconut creamer, and agave sweetener. The studio opens to an exotic hardwood deck, where you can soak in the two person hot tub, while enjoying a glass of wine or a great local craft beer (corkscrew and unbreakable Govino glasses supplied) at the base of a 700 year old redwood tree. Across the garden, you'll have an outdoor hot shower for bathing under the stars! It's an experience unlike any other. An on-demand propane heater provides consistent hot water to a handcrafted exposed copper pipe shower, with a hot and cold valve. Standing on a stone slab and showering under a palm tree alongside a curtain of bamboo is amazing!
The studio is located a couple of minutes from Highway 101, in the Dominican neighborhood of San Rafael. The Dominican University is a 10 minute walk. Whole Foods is a 10 minute walk down the road, and downtown San Rafael is a 15 minute walk. San Rafael has a multitude of restaurants, bars, and shops. 4th Street is a great place to explore, with a multitude of eateries, including many different international cuisines. Nearby, approximately 10 minutes away, is the Larkspur Ferry. Here you can take a beautiful boat ride into San Francisco. Other local towns of interest include San Anselmo, a beautiful quaint town perfect for a stroll and some shopping. Nearby Fairfax is "the home of mountain biking." Fairfax is an eclectic community with restaurants, shops, and a brewery. Of course, you can't visit Marin without checking out Sausalito, the closest town to San Francisco, just north of the Golden Gate Bridge. This community is extremely beautiful, with homes built on the hillsides, a houseboat community, and many sights worth exploring. Mount Tamalpais State Park is astounding, with breathtaking views, redwoods, and a multitude of hiking trails. Over the mountain, you will find Stinson Beach, a world famous surf spot with a relaxed beach town atmosphere. Our proximity to Sonoma and Napa Valleys is great. We often spend the day up there, as it is so easy to drive.
  • Our stay here was great! The hot tub was amazing, and showering under the stars was actually super fun! The unit is small and you have to be prepared for some bonding - the toilet isn't sectioned off and the unique design takes some getting used to. Otherwise, great stay for a great price, with super responsive hosts - you can't ask for much more!

    Michelle2017-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • Hot tub is amazing! Good location near San Rafael. Very small bed and room, so be prepared for this. Good experience checking in.

  • Cute, private place for those looking for an alternative and unique experience. The place place itself is tiny but the outdoor is what makes it so nice! We fell asleep to the sounds of rain and woke up to sunshine ️

    Vanessa2017-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Redwood tree, hot tub, outdoor shower, immaculate property. BUT you will be sleeping on a futon. So make sure if you're a two-some, you don't mind cuddling up!

  • Although we never met Sean, he was very helpful and friendly. His place is simple, clean and quiet, a refuge from the city. Loved the outdoor shower!! My only suggestion is that the room we stayed in absolutely needs a curtain that can be drawn over the huge window/door, as the sun blasts in at 7am with nothing to block it. Other than that, very relaxing and comfortable!

    John2017-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful natural setting. The outdoor shower was a treat! The hosts could not be nicer or more accommodating.

  • Sean and Cambria are great and very kind hosts. I spent three nights on their home. It’s impeccable, has beautiful views and a peaceful energy feeling – located on a nice mountain close to major transportation options. I used my stay to take walks, take outdoor showers, jump on the jacuzzi, visit good restaurants nearby and commute to San Francisco when needed. Highly recommended as a short getaway from the city.

  • Awesome house in a beautiful residential neighborhood! I loved the outdoor shower and we had our own little outside seating area outside of our room. Sean was a great host and very communicative. We arrived on the later side and he let us in and made sure we were settled. I highly recommend it if you need a place to stay for the night or two.

  • This modern, very well equipped studio was perfect for us. We were visiting family in Fairfax. This is an extra clean, comfortable, modern stay for a great price! There are great places to hike nearby, stroll, or eat out in the area. Great way to enjoy Marin area and avoid the crowds and traffic in the greater bay area.

  • We had the best, best time at Nathalie and Brian's! They provided so many accommodations that went above and beyond anything we have experienced at other spots. The location was convenient to San Francisco, although we spent a lot of our time in nearby Fairfax. The studio is exactly as it is shown in photos. Self check in was thoroughly explained and really easy. We couldn't have asked for a better stay! Thanks again Nathalie and Bryan! Emma and Danny

  • By far my favorite Airbnb stay yet. The studio, as well as the hospitality, blew me away. The studio itself is super clean, cozy and stocked with anything and everything you would need during your stay; coffee, wine, eggs, soda water, you name it! Nathalie was an incredible host. She greeted me with a smile upon my arrival and even hand delivered ice cream to my door. She went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. If in the Marin area, this is the place to stay!!!

    Kristina2016-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • It was a super cute and clean guest house. It was very quiet and a great location; close to wine country, hiking trails, and SF.

My husband and I have 2 spare guest bedrooms, with queen sized beds and closet space. Both rooms get natural afternoon sunlight and feel nice and cozy. The rooms overlook our relaxing patio, with some fruit trees, thriving succulents and fire pit. Our space works well for people coming in for business, or those looking for a stop over driving through California. We are also located close to so many amazing places it works as a hub while on vacation.
We are a young couple with our silly dog, who love our home and traveling when we can. We also bake our own bread, so if you plan your stay right we will have some to share. When the days are nice we hang out on our back patio, either gardening, lounging, having dinner outside, or staying warm with our fire pit. We are located to some awesome open space perfect for hiking. Wine country is only about 25-30 minutes away, so getting a quick wine tasting in is very easy. Mt. Tam, Muir Woods and Stintson Beach are easy drives from us. Marin County is so amazing, and we have a centrally located place to so much of it. We moved to the Bay Area after graduating from Boston College and Cal Poly and have been in Marin since 2008 and living in San Rafael since 2014.
We live about 1.5 miles from Highway 101. We are within a 5-10 minute walk to a local grocery market (Scotty's), We are less than 1/2 mile walk from incredible open hiking space, roughly 15 miles to the Golden Gate Bridge and on the other side is San Francisco, 25-30 minutes to the first winery of wine country, 30-35 minutes from downtown Sonoma, and about 75 minutes to Napa. Muir Woods is about a 30 minute drive and well worth it. There aren’t many things more beautiful than our Highway 1 coastline.
  • The place was clean and spacious, they provided us with all the amenities that you need. Communication was really good and they responded within few minutes for any query. Would definitely recommend to stay here.

  • Erin and Nate are the best hosts you can meet and their house is beautiful, comfortable and practical. Would stay here every time! Highly reccommended!

  • This AirBnB is one of the best I have ever experienced! Erin and her husband are very welcoming, the house is spotless, the rooms are super comfortable and everything is furnished with highest attention to detail. It's a place where you can feel at home during your stay. Recommendation!

  • Erin and her husband are really kind and welcoming. She is so helpful and tries to make you feel confortable in every way: it's like being at your friends' house. Their dog, Nora, is special: super cute, full of love and a really good girl! Hope to find always hosts like you! Emanuela

  • Erin was terrific on any communication responses. Their home is beautiful and the added extra offering of coffee and homemade sour dough bread in the morning was a welcoming touch. Location was a great proximity to so many other areas and adventures also Erin was ready with recommendations. The house was spotless and we were made to feel at home, with beds that were very comfortable. The homeowners left early in the morning with their dog Nora, allowing us to use the space and prepare for our day. This place was terrific and we would highly recommend this spot for anyone seeking a peaceful, quiet, clean and secure space while staying in the San Rafael area. I know I will definitely try to stay here again for future trips.

  • Erin is a wonderful host. She is gracious and welcoming, as well as available to answer questions and offer suggestions. She even left home baked bread for us in the frig! Her home is lovely. We had two spacious rooms to ourselves, and use of the kitchen, dining room, living room, and an outdoor patio. Everything was spotless. The dog was well behaved and easy to be around. It's in a lovely area. There was a great hiking spot within walking distance. Downtown San Rafael is only a short drive away with cute shops and restaurants. I'd definitely stay there again.

  • Delisa's cottage is charming, very private, and very liveable. I stayed there for only one night waiting for a flight out of SFO early in the morning. I got some work done on the bright patio overlooking the creek down below, and had a great night's sleep in this very quiet neighborhood. Will definitely stay again when I pass through San Rafael!

  • If you come to San Rafael, you must stay with Janet, she is the best and you will feel so much at home with her love and care. The Rancho is beautiful, very quiet and you will rest very good. We love Janet and hope to come back next year.

    Maria & Alan 2017-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • This place is special. Not just because it feels like a cozy cabin but because Janet and her family know how to be respectful and provide a nice balance between privacy and sociability. Their sweet-natured dogs seem to know the same. I had fresh eggs from their garden, wonderful hikes around the wetlands and China Camp, (both of which were very close and surprisingly hassle-free}, got to sit in front of their fireplace and share a meal or two, be in humorous conversations with her family at others, and count on a very restful night's sleep throughout my stay. The location was within minutes of a community center too where you can go swimming indoors for a reasonable fee, while outside, there's a charming porch swing. Overall, it was a unique and memorable stay.

    Ellen2017-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Janet was very welcoming and accommodating. My first night there I came home and found a cat on my bed. I had forgotten to tell her I have a cat allergy. I told her about it the next morning. That day while I was out, she washed all the bedding and switched out the rug. I wasn't expecting it. She really went above and beyond and I really appreciated it! She has two mighty nice, low-key dogs inside, and I guess a cat or two, but they were no trouble! Wish I didn't have allergies! The room has its own a mini-fridge, a full bathroom, and its own door to the backyard. There's also a good bit of homemade art to enjoy in the home. Even though it's right on the road, the home is very quiet both day and night. It's a little less than a 10-minute drive from Fourth Street (the main drag of San Rafael). Thanks, Janet!

    Vince2017-12-10T00:00:00Z
  • Very quiet and beautiful area, not far from many conveniences.

    Dan2017-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • Jeanette was incredible! She was flexible with my check in time, and made arrangements so I could come and go without disturbing anyone. Such a sweet woman. The house was beautiful with a great view of a magnificent garden from the bedroom. The bed was creaky and a little uncomfortable, but the comforter was to die for. I wish I had one at home. The hard part for me about this space, was the shared bathroom. Sharing a bathroom isn’t a problem at all, but the house is set up in a way that the room I stayed in, was the “master” and had a bathroom. So, in order to share that bathroom, anyone wanting to use it, had to enter my room. They entered quietly, but often without knocking, and while I was asleep. I found it hard to rest for that reason. I also had a hard time feeling “safe” in my space. I didn’t feel in danger, but I couldn’t change in the room in fear someone would enter at an inappropriate time. It was also asked to keep the doors unlocked to allow access.

We live in a quiet neighborhood, and therefore don't allow parties.
  • The home is maybe 10-15 minute walk to the beach. The location is convenient and plenty of surrounding stores/restaurants. The home was as described, and no issues with the cleanliness. Overall, I have no negative reviews to leave, and communication with David was great.

    Michael2017-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • Good location, close to the beach and shopping area. The communication with David worked perfectly. For the high price we paid, we have expected a higher level of comfort and cleanliness. So, the quality-price equation was not the right one. Maybe David can improve this in the future.

    Elena2017-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • David was easy to get in touch with especially in a time of need. He was quick to accommodate us. DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING IN CAR WHEN IN CITY. Our car window got smashed and backpacks taken right before sunset outside cliff house restaurant near ocean beach.

  • Very good experience in SF with David's flat ! Everything you may need is there from a nice little garden to books or toys for children ! Good place for 4 peoples to stay comfortably, 2 real queen size beds. Very convenient and close to the golden gate park. A must !

  • David responded quickly when I contacted him and provided all the information we needed for our stay. The apartment was clean, spacious, and had everything we needed for 5 of us. It's a great place for children and had the weather been nicer we would have enjoyed using the back yard and patio. The area is safe, appealing and an easy walk both to Golden Gate Park and to the restaurants and small shops on Balboa.

    Susan2015-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay in San Francisco with a nice apartment that served as our base--close to the beach, the Golden Gate park and the bus system. Restaurants nearby meant it was easy to walk to dinner instead of searching for parking. Parking was only tough on Sunday night, as everyone was clearly home

  • Dinna's place was the ideal getaway retreat for my husband and I to stay at while visiting my daughter in San Rafael. The place was immaculate and well appointed. Dinna did not miss a beat! The full size kitchen came stocked with the essential tools for cooking a "mom-made" meal for my homesick baby girl! The ceramic dishes , drink ware, utensils and pots&spans made it easy for me to recreate my cooking experience at home. the toaster, Keurig and coffee maker made breakfast convenient and cost efficient. The bedroom had beautiful high ceilings and a ceiling fan, comfortable bed with beautiful linen and decor, extra blankets and sheets. Plenty of hangers and closet space to hang our clothes; iron and ironing board provided as well. Though the weather didn't permit, I appreciated the beautiful faux fireplace. The bathroom was perfect and stocked with essentials such as toothpaste, Q-Tips, cotton balls, shampoo, conditioner and body wash, sewing kit and even a blow dryer. The bath towels were oversized and plush, spa-like quality! The on-site laundry facilities(coin operated) were also appreciated--Dinna even provided laundry soap and dryer sheets. The location was super convenient and accessible to shopping, dining or taking in the beautiful surroundings. There is no doubt that we will stay there the best time we visit San Rafael. Thanks, Dinna!

  • Julia is a gracious host who has created a quiet, private refuge for travelers within her warm and cozy home. It's very clean, and nicely furnished with a large comfortable bed. The space includes your own complete bathroom. The standalone home on a hillside overlooking the northern San Francisco Bay is a little ways off the main highway in a charming retirement-oriented residential community. It's about a 10 minute car ride into downtown Novato and many major shopping centers in the area. Just 30 minutes away in any direction to all the basic touring destinations: San Francisco, the coast and Redwood forests, or the wine country. Lovely walking paths and vistas, and very clean air. Julia provided a great European breakfast sendoff. I look forward to staying with her again on my next visit to the North Bay and Novato.

  • This was our first experience with AirBnB. What a pleasant surprise. Rick is a very gracious host and the place was perfectly described. We were very happy with the location, and comfort of his guest quarters. It is very private and the area was perfect for early morning walks. We did bring our dog with us and he too felt right at home. We would highly recommend this location for couples traveling to the area. Although it is private and in a great neighborhood, it is close to town, freeways and hiking areas. We would definitely try to reserve this space again as we travel to San Rafael yearly to visit our daughter and her family.

Hello. My cute little home is located in the sunniest neighborhood in San Francisco. It is near public transit, the freeway and SFO airport. There is a lovely garden and all the amenities of modern living: a big refrigerator, stove/oven, washer/dryer, hair dryer, wifi, iron, microwave, coffee machine and rice cooker.
Great weather, a nice backyard, a driveway parking spot, close to public transit, Amazon TV, fresh interior paint and new bamboo floors. 1950's stove, a beautiful garden for coffee/tea or BBQ.
The weather is amazing here and there is a strip of shops 5 blocks away on San Bruno ave. There is a supermarket 100 feet away that is open until midnight, how convenient is that?! It is a residential neighborhood so keeping the noise down after 10 would be appreciated. There is a police station 2 blocks away which keeps the neighborhood safe and friendly.
  • This place worked out very well for us. It's very close to the train line and right around the corner from the grocery store. We were able to tour the city and get around using only public transportation. The place was charming and comfortable.

    Neil2017-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • He place was okay and in a good location near the city. Brendan waited for us even though we arrived late and personally checked us in and gave us a tour. We had to check out a day earlier due to an emergency but the refund was denied. However, Airbnb gave us credit.

    Lynne2016-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Brendan is very welcoming and communicative. He replys message very fast and is very flexible. He checked in us in person and showed us the cute house. We would definitely stay with him again.

  • Brendan is nice and kind guy for our family. Suddenly our plan has been changed so we had to leave earlier than our original plan and he kindly allows us to leave early without any penalty. Beds are very comfortable and we had very good sleep. Back garden is pretty and our kids liked it.

    Yun Jin2015-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice and cozy home and in a convenient location. Thank you Brendan.

    Karla2017-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • The home is pretty complete, with a lovely antique, albeit well equipped kitchen, a spacious living room and a good size master bedroom. Both beds were comfortable and bedsheets were nice and clean. The living room had a good TV with directv, which was good for the kids while we got ready to leave for the day. The location is great, only 15 min by bus (8X line) from Market St. I also appreciated the free parking in front of the house, which is always a plus. This was my first time booking through Airbnb, so I expected the home to be set up, clean and organized like a hotel room. On that note, my family and I was slightly disappointed with the cleanliness of the place. There was quite a lot of old dust on the floor, which we found particularly annoying as we have a 1 year old who eats stuff from the floor all the time. I did speak to Brendan on the first day though, and I believe this will be improved for future guests. Overall, we had a great time and hope to come back.

  • We are a family traveling through SF for one night. We did not get to meet Brendan because he was away but the home shows the care he had for us. It is simple but sunny and homy. The whole family loved the vegi backyard.

Our neighborhood is in the flats, it is peaceful, quiet, wooded, and safe. There is a 10:00 p.m. noise ordinance. With good shoes, my location is perfect for walking to neighboring towns, one mile to Fairfax and one mile to San Anselmo. My home is centrally located: take the ferry south to San Francisco, drive west or take the bus to the beach (Stinson beach & Pt. Reyes National Seashore), an hour drive north to Napa and Sonoma towns for wine tasting and drive over the San Rafael Richmond bridge east to Berkeley. Check out my Guidebook for recommendations for dining and entertainment in the area.
  • Jeannie is an excellent host. I have stayed at her studio several times and the experience has been uniformly positive. My most recent stay was for six nights, The accommodations are spotless, quiet and very comfortable. There is relaxing garden space and off street parking. Highly recommend.

    Curtis2015-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect cottage for my visit to Marin. It is a very well appointed and relaxing suite. The location was convenient as well. Jeannie was a great host, the Keurig in the shed was a great way for an early riser to start the day.

    Chris2016-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • I've stayed with Jeannie several times now, and it has always been a great pleasure. I think of it as a home away from home and will return as long as it's available. No complaints.

    Matt2015-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • I was in a pretty rough part of my life when I needed to find a place to "live" for a short while. A couple friends helped me and we found this studio in San Anselmo, a short distance from where I lived. Well it was exactly what I needed. Privacy, a lovely area to contemplate life and Jeannie is the most considerate person you'd ever want to me. Want to chat, chat. Want privacy, boom, silence. Cali, Jeannie's dog will always having a wagging tail greeting or send off. THIS IS ONE OF A KIND! Thank you Jeannie, Phil

    Phil2014-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • My host was attentive from the moment the reservation was confirmed. The accommodations were very private and comfortable. The location was convenient to downtown San Anselmo where I was attending a workshop. The bed was very comfortable. The atmosphere of the room and yard were peaceful and beautifully kept. The host was welcoming and always willing to assist me in feeling at home. I will definitely consider a return visit.

    Thomas2014-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely quiet studio with a very comfortable bed. Jeannie was very accommodating and the coffee was great .

    Bruce2015-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Jeannie is a wonderful host and her pup is a great greeter. The cottage is very sweet and the drinks in the little fridge outside the private room were appreciated. The room can be hot in the summer, but Jeannie will come in and turn on the little swamp cooler when you are away so the temp is OK when you get home. Jeannie 's place is not within walking distance to stores so if you want breakfast in the morning be sure to bring it with you. There is a coffee machine at the cottage. The RV toilet is a bit strange but Jeannie's door is open for guests to use her bathroom. We really enjoyed talking with Jeannie and hanging out with her very sweet dog. The only negative for us was that the price was a bit high, but when one travels with a dog it is difficult to find a good deal.

    Bobbie and John2015-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Jeannie's home for 3 nights while I was doing a meditation retreat at Spirit Rock. The room was comfortable and Jeannie was was very supportive of all my needs while I stayed with her. I would recommend that you stay with her if you are looking for a quiet secluded experience in Northern California.

A small room with a queen size bed. Very bright. The place is located in downtown. If noise doesn't bother you, then the room is perfect. You can use the kitchen, the living room to work. Nobody is there mostly so the house is yours. The bathroom is shared as there's only one for the house but it never created an issue.
It's very convenient. Safeway is across the street. Restaurants are within walking distances. Hospital, bus stations, hair and nail salons are all within walking distances. The house has a parking for each guest. The room is small with queen size, the floor is unevenly varnished, still the old faded wood cleanly mopped every check out but it looks dirty.
I love this location because it's so close to the retreat center. There's a lot of yoga places, restaurants, salons for women, bars with musics, bus stations and easy for Uber to get access and park right in front of the house.
  • Great place, clean as a whistle, quiet and conveniently located to everything San Rafael. The Flat Iron Grill is steps away and Terrapin Crossroads a (longish) walk away.

    Jordan2017-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • You will enjoy your stay here and will be very comfortable with the lovely home Elle shares with you. Would highly recommend.

    Elizabeth2017-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Don't be worried about the "Downtown" location. Elle's place is great and the hospitality she provided me as I was nearing the end of my 9 day solo bike trip down the California Coast was excellent and will be a treasured memory. I can't wait to cook up my version of your delicious green tea!

    Carl2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Elle was a wonderful host. Very responsive and friendly. The house was clean and the bed very comfortable. Even though the house is on a busy street it was very quiet and the town was lovely. We had a great stay!

    Steven2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • The place was great. Very nice room, very clean and all I needed. Combination door lock makes check in easy. The location is close to all you need in San Rafael. I didn’t realize before check in that there is another Airbnb room which means four people sharing one bathroom at times. The other guests were nice but I could see where some single women may be concerned about different men staying with them. However your room locks so I felt safe and had a lovely stay overall.

    Larissa2017-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • I needed a last minute place to stay, and this place came up. She responded quickly and was flexible with check in. The bed was very comfortable, and I found a Whole Foods just a few minutes away.

    Rebekah2017-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • The house is on a busy street, but the bedroom was at the back of the house and very quiet. Noise was never a problem. Elle Sylvie was a polite and gracious host. I would stay there again for a short (weeks) stay in San Rafael.

    Dennis2017-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • Very central location and Elle made me feel welcome and comfortable. I was working during the day, and the central location was convenient. I'd stay again.

Welcome to my old brick and mortar family home. This was my brother's room many years ago, but now it can be your little getaway spot for your trip to the bay. The whole place feels wonderfully secluded, tucked away cozily in the green and lusciously vegetated hillside. This is one of the safest neighborhoods in the bay, quiet as can be with the only noise being the neighbors landscaping. This is quite a nice retreat, with a price that can't be beat!

Enjoy a luxurious stay in this private 1Bed/1Bath suite in an historic 1912 building. Perfectly located between the Castro and the Mission, walk to all the restaurants, entertainment, shopping, and amenities that these neighborhoods have to offer.
This 1 bed/1 bath suite is on the first floor (up one flight of stairs from the street). The suite was beautifully remodeled in 2012 while still retaining 1912 details such as cove ceilings, hardwood floors and period woodwork. The bedroom features a queen-size bed with luxurious bedding, ample closet space and a bay window with seating that overlooks 17th Street. The bathroom includes a hand shower, tub, towels and organic bath supplies. There is a ceiling fan in the bedroom for those rare hot days and wall heater in the hall for the cooler months. The suite also has high-speed WiFi and Cable HDTV with hundreds of channels. There is no kitchen, but the suite includes a coffee maker, electric kettle, cooler and microwave. Of course, there are many restaurants, cafes and coffee shops nearby -- check the guidebook for our recommendations.
Mission Dolores is centrally located between the Castro and the Mission. It includes Mission Dolores -- the oldest building in San Francisco, and Dolores Park -- one of the most popular parks in the city. As you may know, the Castro (centered 4 blocks west) is the historic gay center of San Francisco -- it features restaurants, bars, the Castro Theater, shopping, and an ever-increasing number of coffee shops and day spas. The Mission (centered 3 blocks east) is a historically Latino neighborhood. It, too, features restaurants, bars, the Roxie Theater, shopping and an ever-increasing number of coffee shops and boutiques.
  • I stayed in the Dolores suite for a full week and had a perfect experience. Marc is always just a phone call or text away and is incredibly helpful if you have any questions. The neighborhood is great - lots of restaurants and stores nearby. The suite is really private and exactly like the photos. If you're looking for a great place in SFO, here it is!

  • Checking in was as easy as could be. Apartment is as advertised. Very clean with a comfortable bed. Location is great. Marc was able to get me a visitor parking pass which was so helpful. Great experience all around!

    Chad2016-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Marc's apartment was clean and tidy. It was comfortable for a week's stay. Really close to Dolores Park and the restaurants and bars of the Mission. The bed seemed a bit old, but generally comfortable. Check in process was really smooth and easy. Overall a great place to stay in San Francisco.

    Leo2016-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • The space was exactly as described and in the photos. Great neighborhood to stay in- loved the location. Everything was super clean and very thoughtfully laid out.

    Ashley2015-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Staying here was a great location for us while visiting San Francisco. The tub was a little dirty when we arrived and it was very small but it is a large city so I understand why it was tiny. Marc was very helpful with our questions and very polite.

    Elizabeth2016-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • The little apartment is very well appointed and spotless. It's in the middle of a great neighborhood too. Marc was very easy to deal with.

  • We used Diego and Robin's place as a base for hiking along the coast. It also allowed us options for food and shopping. We were able to stock the mini fridge with breakfast items, beverages and snacks. Diego and Robin have supplies available for the Keurig which was convenient. The room was quiet, clean and comfortable. The neighborhood was easy to access from Hwy 101 and safe.

    Kristina2017-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time and Diego and Robin's home. We spent a weekend here while doing hike's along the coast. The apartment was comfortable, clean, quiet, and it was a great place to come home to after a long day of hiking. Diego and Robin checked in on us to see how our stay was going. You really felt like family. Thank you so much! We hope to come again soon :).

  • We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful studio apartment. It is in a great location - a quiet neighborhood, in walking distance to a supermarket and restaurants, and a short drive from the main road. (Even local deer seemed to like the location, delighting us with a visit outside our front window!) The studio is beautifully decorated, light, bright, and spotless. The hosts are friendly and very responsive (almost instantaneously!). Other family members have had a similarly pleasant experience, and several of us intend to come back when we return to visit nearby family and friends.

The house is in a great part of San Francisco where the bars and restaurants have that local, non "tourist" vibe. The house is located on the corner across from a store and Muni transit (bus) stop. A $2.25 ride can take you to downtown SF. There is free, street parking (watch for street cleaning days on sign posts). The unit has been recently remodeled with a new kitchen and bathroom for your comfort and convenience. USB plugs on premise.
The House is within walking distance to Ocean Beach, SF zoo, and various spots in the neighborhood. There's a local dive bar two blocks away, pizza spot, coffee shop, breakfast dinners and a grow shop. Chinese take out is a phone call away and there's a few corner liquor stores. Muni is the name of our public transportation. The stop across the street can take you anywhere you need to go. There are apps that can help navigate as well.
Sunset district, San Francisco. If you are a surfer than this is a great place to find some waves and chill with the locals. Ocean beach, is huge and open everyday. Lots of iconic spots and legendary starts like the original burning man location.
  • Everything was lovely and clean and the owner of the apartment is responsive, but the voice of the metro is very, very annoying

  • This was a great location. It was definitely walking distance from the beach, with easy parking and a cozy, clean home. The home was equipped with everything I needed, even to cook, so that was AWESOME. My family and I were happy and comfortable. I can only report one downside: the BART. It didn't bother us because we did not sleep in. However, if you're looking for some peace and quiet, the train will not provide that.

    Nayeli2016-06-21T00:00:00Z

**** PLEASE READ FAQ BELOW BEFORE SUBMITTING AN INQUIRY **** FIRST TIME USING AIRBNB? Get $40 off by using this link (please use link before signing up for a new account, or else create a new account): www.airbnb.com/c/gchan403 Clean, cozy, quiet, modern and renovated are just a few of the adjectives used to describe my listing. Convenient to freeways, minutes away from SFO/downtown, walking distance to restaurants and bus that will travel all over SF.
--Book without fear of host cancellation! Book with a Superhost!!-- --Triple 100 host, 100% no cancel, 100% response rate, 100+ Reviews!!-- **** PLEASE READ FAQ BELOW BEFORE SUBMITTING AN INQUIRY **** Q1. Is my place available for MM/DD/YYYY date to MM/DD/YYYY date? A1. Click on the desired check-in and check-out date on Airbnb. If it allows you to select the dates and you can see the prices, it is available. No need to inquire about availability via message. Also keep in mind that anyone can book at anytime, so availability can change without notice. Q2: How much is this booking? A2: Click on your desired check-in and check-out dates. Then select the number of guests. Assuming the dates are available, you should be able to see how much the booking will cost you in 4 parts (room rate, cleaning fee, Airbnb service fee and Occupancy tax) and in total. Q3. How is parking? (or is parking made available to me?) A3. We can provide parking one time upon check-in. If you wish to have an exclusive spot, communicate this to get a per day quote. Please read "Other Things to Note" section below for other notes. Q4. May I get a discount? (Or alternatively is the price negotiable? Or alternatively can you give me a deal, etc.)? A4. There is a weekly discount available for long term stays of 7 days or longer. Prices are automatically adjusted for this. Q5. Can I check-in early? (or can I check-out late?) A5. While I make every effort to accommodate these requests, this question can almost never be answered with certainty until the day or two before your arrival (or departure). Guests are often checking out the day another guest check-in and cleanings must be scheduled and performed. Please be prepared to arrive on or after your designed check-in time and depart by your check-out time. Other considerations for luggage drop off may be made if requested in advance. Q6: Can I book 7 (or any number higher than 6)? A6: No, this exceeds my occupancy limits. There is no exception to this. Q7: Does a child count as a guest? A7: Yes, when you make a reservation you will describe the number of adults, children and infants. Infants do not count towards add'l person fee. Q8: How far is the property from SFO? What is the best way to get to my place from the airport using public transportation? A8: It takes 15 minutes to drive (or take UBER, Lyft, Taxi). To do public transportation takes a little longer. The cheapest and most efficient way is to take SamTrans 292 from SFO to Bayshore Blvd stop which is just a few blocks from my house. The cost of the bus going into San Francisco is $2.25 for each person. Q9: How far is the property to Downtown San Francisco (Union Square)? What is the best way to get there from my property using public transportation? A9: Downtown SF is only 10-15 away by driving. Alternatively, the Muni 8x stop is just a couple blocks away and can get you there in about 20 minutes. Very convenient! Q10: Is the neighborhood safe? A10: Yes, I consider this neighborhood safe at all times. Q11: How do payments and security deposits work? A11: Payment in full for the 4 parts (room fee, cleaning fee, Airbnb service charge and SF Occupancy tax) are paid up front at time of booking to Airbnb. One night after check-in, the room and cleaning fees are released to me. No actual money is charged for a security deposit. Rather, a hold is placed in case of damage/broken items. The hold is released 14 days after your check-out or whenever the next guest checks in, whichever is earlier. Read the following help page for more details: https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/140/how-does-airbnb-handle-security-deposits Q12: How much is an Uber ride from my house to downtown San Francisco? A12: As of May 24, 8:38PM, I looked up an UberX ride from here to Union Square, and the cost was $19.27. This price is illustrative and varies depending on the time you order a ride. Q13: What floor are you on? How many steps are there to your place? A13: Ground Floor. One step. **** END FAQ **** Come stay at my newly renovated, modern, cozy and quiet 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment in San Francisco! • Garland's apt was great! I was easy to find, cozy, warm, comfortable, great amenities and above all CLEAN!!! It was everything that it was described as. Garland and his GF went above and BEYOND to accommodate us and our party of 6. If you come up to the city and have a car, Garland saves a spot for you to park your car! When you arrive, there's a fully stocked fridge with some water and goodies for you to snack on. When you get in, everything is clearly written out, (with pictures too!) In one of the bedrooms, they have a map with a binder of tips and tricks to navigate SF, a PLUS for newbies! My wife, mother-in law and everyone only had GREAT things to say. We wished alll AirBnBs were this great. Thanks again Garland!!!

  • Great apartment, nice and central location. Garland is a very friendly and nice host.

    Sukhjinder2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Garland was an excelente host. Everything on the house was exactly what was expected by the house pictures and description. The house was clean and had all the facilities. The house has a good location. close to the bus station which take us directly to main places of SF such as North Union and Embarcadero (Piers). We strongly recommend this house for families up to 5 people and 6 as well.

    Mirian2015-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Garland is the perfect host. Always answers questions quickly, there to meet & greet. Had a tray of goodies & snacks as well as some breakfast items for us which was appreciated. Excellent book of information including how to get to all the major attractions. Few issues with Netflix which Garland tried to fix instantly...seems to be a bandwidth issue if he is home then it drops in & out. The dryer was broken when we arrived but Garland had a new one by the next night! The only downside is that the couch is really uncomfortable! Probably as it is a sofabed...most people probably do t use it but since we had 2 young kids with us, we sat & watched TV each night once they were in bed...stay out & enjoy the nightlife! The apartment has been set up like a hotel...lovely comfortable beds, soft sheets, great bathroom layout etc...he's thought the design out well. I'd recommend this apartment to anyone staying in San Fran.

  • The property is perfect for getting around San Francisco. It's located on a quiet street and is close to downtown. It's evident that Garland works to make sure visitors feel welcome. He even brought us warm cookies and homemade bread. The beds are comfortable and the home is updated.

The neighborhood is great and has everything you could want in a San Francisco visit -- beautiful homes, cafes and amenities within walking distance, and steep hills. The suite is bigger than it looks in the photos and quite comfortable. We would recommend this spot.

  • A lovely small house, with two comfortable beds, good natural light and suprising functionality in everything from bathing to cooking to dining. I stayed with my mother and young son, and there was actually room for each of us to have a little corner for private space in this string of three small but charming rooms. We were very comfortable and appreciated Daniel's gracious hosting.

    Anna2017-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute, small cottage. Location is good, walkable to shops and restaurants. It's small, but had exactly what we needed. Kitchenette was perfect for our needs. Daniel promptly responded to any issues.

    Kristin2017-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • This place is great! Everything is as advertised and clearly depicted in the pics and description . It's location is great - in a quiet nice neighborhood but walkable to restaurants and shops. It's small but has everything you need and the amenities, furnishings, and linens are quality. Daniel was timely and helpful in communicating and answering questions. He even provided homemade granola - an added treat. I would definitely come back.
