Industrial Oasis near The Park | Garden & Central

ScottRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Gustavo’s place is the best stay we’ve ever had with Airbnb. The house is stellar, with unique and architecture-forward elements, and we adored the garden and amenities. But what made the stay even better was meeting Gustavo! He is a great communicator, even helped us with a lunch reservation, and let us enjoy the space. This is a rare find and we can’t wait to return!

Beautiful duplex in Madrid Río

SophieRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
We had an absolutely fantastic time at Miguel’s place. It’s about a 30 min walk to the very centre but that was perfect for us as it was a gorgeous walk and meant the restaurants and cafes were much better value in the area. There were even 2 great cafes and restaurants doors away from the apartment and Miguel could not have been more responsive and accommodating

Private pool (April-Oct). 2bd house in Madrid City

PeterRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
We spent four nights as a couple at Barbara’s accommodation and were thoroughly satisfied with our stay. The metro station was just a six-minute walk away, allowing us to easily explore the center of Madrid. We would particularly like to highlight the cleanliness, the lovingly decorated interior, the beautiful bathrooms, and the consistently pleasantly warm floors. We only used the kitchen for breakfast, and it was fully equipped with everything we needed. The beds and bedding were well maintained, and the mattresses were comfortably firm. The private garden with a small saltwater pool is charming, though it was still a bit too chilly to use it during our stay (it would be ideal for children in the summer). The neighbor has a strong voice, and we could occasionally hear him in the garden. On Friday night, it was also a bit noisier from the street until after midnight. However, by Madrid standards, the neighborhood is actually very quiet.

Oasis in the heart of Madrid

TereseRating, 5 stars6 days ago
The place is fantastic and beautifully decorated. Exactly as described. It was lovely with the small outside common area after long days of sightseeing. The location was great with so many things within walking distance, lovely boutiques, and lots and lots of cafes and restaurants. Also, really great for the metro, main train station and the airport. We were 3 people staying there and there was plenty of space and it was really comfortable. Would warmly recommend it and one of the best airbnbs I have stayed at.

2-Bedroom Condo Across from Royal Palace Gardens

EllenRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
Highly recommend you pick this location for you stay in Madrid. Great location right in the middle of all the great sites. We had a little shop and several restaurants connected to the building. We were able to walk to all the major sites. A quick walk to the palace. Several parks surrounding the locations and easy pick up for Uber if you want to go further. We were able to walk most of the city and felt safe walking back home every night. I say home because that's what it feels like when you are there. We got this place to allow our parents to have a place to relax in the middle of our trip. They had a kitchen they could make tea in mornings and relax on the couch with the windows open. It was a great apartment with easy access to the location. Had an elevator and secure lobby area so you felt safe. The beds and furniture were very comfortable. John was great to work with for an after hours check in and very early check out. Would defiantly stay here again.

REAL SPANISH HOME PLAZA MAYOR

JeffRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Pedro was a great host! He communicated with us multiple times before our arrival and was there to meet us when we got out of the taxi. His place was as advertised and convenient to everything. Even though it was right off of the Plaza Mayor it was still very private and quiet at night. He also gave his recommendations for places to eat that were not as touristy. His place had an old world charm that we really appreciated.

Your guide to Madrid

Welcome to Madrid

Spain’s capital city is an exciting meld of the old and new. Madrid’s streets teem with stately palaces, ornate Belle Époque buildings, and modern architecture, and its skyline is spiky with soaring slate spires. This is also a place that celebrates its abundant open spaces. The River Manzanares, which slices through the city, is crisscrossed by arched bridges and lined with walking paths and green spaces such as the modern Madrid Río Park, a landscaped stretch of riverbank activated with playgrounds, performance spaces, and the Arganzuela Bridge, which looks like an enormous metal spring.

In the evening Madrid’s vibrant nightlife awakens, as revelers flock to bars, clubs, and restaurants that stay open until the morning hours. Thanks to those privileged royals of yore, the city is a marquee arts destination, studded with world-class museums and galleries that still benefit from the largess of rulers who supported famous artists. Madrid’s artistic reputation is only rivaled by its gastronomic one — the food here, from traditional tapas to reservations-required upscale dining, is reliably excellent.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Madrid

Late spring and early summer are prime seasons in Madrid, when temperatures are warm but not scorching, and open-air markets, sidewalk cafes, and plazas hum with activity. Summers are hot and dry, and autumns mild. Winters are cold, although snow is infrequent. In the middle of May, the city comes together for an annual weeklong celebration of the city’s patron saint, Isidor the Laborer, with street festivals, dancing, and feasting. The city’s LGBTQ+ Pride event in June has grown to be one of Madrid’s marquee celebrations, and crowds flow into the city for days of festivities.

Top things to do in Madrid

Museo del Prado

Housed in a circa-1785 palace (with some modern additions) the Museo del Prado is home to more than 7,000 paintings. Its vast collection includes works by only-last-name-needed artists such as Goya, Velázquez, and El Greco. It’s within walking distance of two other heavyweight art museums, the contemporary Museo Reina Sofía — home to Picasso’s Guernica — and the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, which showcases works by European masters.

Parque del Buen Retiro

This 17th-century park is studded with ornate marble buildings, a placid boating lake, and shade trees. Some of its unique features include what is believed to be the oldest tree in Madrid — a 400-year-old Mexican conifer — and the Palacio de Cristal, a glass and iron greenhouse repurposed as a modern art gallery.

Metro Museums

As you zip around the city, take a moment to explore some of the unique displays within the transit system. The Ópera station houses an archeological museum showcasing 16th- and 17th-century artifacts unearthed during construction. A paleontology exhibit in the Carpetana station displays the fossils of prehistoric animals; the Chamberí station, which opened in 1919, is now closed to trains but open to visitors, and retains its original billboards and other period details.
