This evening bike tour takes you to the National Mall and Potomac Tidal Basin when the monuments are less crowded, the air is cooler, and the views are magnificent. You'll arrive 15 minutes to tour time to check-in and be fitted on your bike. Our hybrid bikes are perfect for city riding and we have a variety of sizes to fit you - no matter how tall or small. Our bikes have a handle bar bag and rack so you can store all the essentials - phone, keys, wallet. We'll head out to the first stop, where we'll stop and your guide will share some history, and unique facts, and perhaps a dark secret or two. Your tour will cover about 5 miles in three hours, making stops at all of the major monuments and memorials on the National Mall and around the Tidal Basin. At each stop, you'll hear from your guide before being given a few minutes to explore on your own and snap a photo or two. Don't worry! Your guide will stick close to the bikes, giving you the freedom to wander a bit. Our tour route will end back at our shop, where our staff can help direct you to your next activity. Or you can, choose to keep your bike and keep exploring on your own (additional cost). Other things to note Arrive for check in 15 minutes prior to tour start time. Pennsylvania Avenue has been host to inaugurations, protests and celebrations throughout our Nation's history. But the development of this grand boulevard, connecting the Capitol to the White House, is fraught with conflict and intrigue. Starting in the front yard of the White House in Lafayette Square, we'll discuss the history of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. From construction to destruction, fire, flood, addition and renovation, you'll learn how this most famous address has changed throughout history. Taking a look at other buildings along Lafayette Square, we'll discuss the presidents, politicians, and power players of all kinds that have lived along this storied block. After exploring the White House neighborhood, we'll take a stroll down Pennsylvania Ave toward the Capitol Building. Past the hallowed halls and imposing facades of the Willard Hotel, Old Post Tower, FBI Headquarters, and one of the weirdest memorials in DC, we'll learn how downtown Washington went from Murder Bay to America’s Main Street.

We will meet at the infamous Lincoln Memorial to take advantage of it’s beautiful white backdrop and architecture. There, we can capture great views of the entire national mall seeing the Monument and Washington Capitol. Then we will continue to explore the mall as we walk alongside the reflecting pool towards the WWII memorial then past that to the Washington Monument. Welcome! Are you an enthusiast for African American history and culture? On this tour we will visit over a dozen sites, and the tour ends with a marvelous soul food meal. I will show and explain heritage sites within the historic Shaw community surrounding Howard University in northwest Washington, DC. SHAW COMMUNITY (WASHINGTON, DC) The Shaw community is named in honor of American Civil War Colonel Robert Gould Shaw of the 54th Massachusetts in the US Civil War. Howard University is named after U.S. Civil War General Oliver Otis Howard. The Shaw community emerged after the Civil War with homes, banks, churches, and more. Shaw declined with the 'uprising' of 1968, a national reaction to the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The community lie in ruin until new construction or new investment until 2008. Many tourists have been unaware of these sites until the opening of the National Museum of African American History and Culture in 2016. SOUL FOOD Soul food is the ethnic food for African Americans (Aframericans). The food holds history, tradition and celebrates our freedom. There is also vegan soul food. All the sites are within walking distance. I do not prepare the food. It is prepared by a professional soul food chef. Don't be camera shy, be camera brave! You will get social media worthy shots that will leave all your friends jealous! We will meet in front of the Washington Monument Monument. Then we will walk around the neighborhood, where I will be guiding you through a cool shots of the Monuments. We can also explore hidden gems around the city. Built 125 years ago, nearly every President since Teddy Roosevelt has visited. Things to note We guarantee you can see at least 60 of our legendary rooms — but be warned secret doors are tricky to find —if you find 2 or 3 you are an above average sleuth All ages can attend. If you have a short attention span, this is the place for you because there is so much to see and do. If you are a minimalist, you will be overwhelmed. Join us for a historic Donut adventure through our nation’s capital, Washington DC. Our tour begins in Western Market, which has a legacy dating back to 1802! There we will sample donuts made from a business that’s been in the same family for five generations. From there we’ll head downtown, where we’ll see a restaurant favored by a former President before passing by the White House itself for a perfect photo op. After soaking in some history at Lafayette Square, we’ll head deeper into DC to try some local fan favorite donuts from local celebrities. From there, we’ll head down Palmers Alley, one of the most photographed spots in DC, where we’ll end our adventure with delectable donuts with an international flavor.
