The observation deck at the foot of this 13-storey-tall wonder will leave you breathless (and maybe a little bit wet), but don’t forget the viewing portals cut straight through the rock, offering a once-in-a-lifetime view of one-fifth of the world’s fresh water crashing down in front of you.

The Whirlpool Aero Car is suspended 200 ft above the water and offers views of the swirling whirlpool and the Class 6 whitewater rapids.

Joshua
From Joshua's guidebook
The Whirlpool Aero car was designed by a Spanish engineer, Leonardo Torres Quevedo and has been in operation since 1916. The cable car is suspended from six sturdy cables and offers a wonderful view of the Niagara Whirlpool which is formed at the end of the rapids where the gorge turns abruptly counterclockwise and the river escapes through the narrowest channel in the gorge. High above the racing Niagara River, you'll be transported through the air in an antique cable car. Far below, the torrent of water abruptly changes direction and creates one of the world's most mesmerizing natural phenomenon - the Niagara Whirlpool. Sometimes frightening and always unforgettable! The aerial cable car travels safely between two different points of the Canadian shore of the Niagara River over the spectacular Whirlpool. A round trip is about one kilometer (3,600 feet) and takes about 10 minutes to navigate. The capacity of the car is 35 standing passengers. Upgrades in design and function occurred in 1961, 1967 and 1984. Please note that this attraction is NOT wheelchair accessible. Open Seasonally April to November

The natural wonder, the Canadian Horseshoe Falls, is one of the world’s most famous waterfalls. With heights of 176 feet and a colossal 150,000 gallons of water crashing down per second, you are bound to be wonderstruck by the roar of the Falls, the mystery of the rising mist and if you’re lucky, the sight of rainbows overhead. Think you’ve seen the Falls? Think again. This wonder takes centre stage in a range of activities you must experience to believe. Did you know that there are 3 waterfalls? The American Falls, Bridal Veil and the Canadian Horseshoe Falls. Take an elevator 150-feet down through bedrock to tunnels behind the Falls, or explore the roar of the water on the Niagara City Cruises. Take in the view high-above at the Skylon Tower, in a gondola on Canada’s largest Niagara Skywheel, or via helicopter. Holly
From Holly's guidebook
Only attempt this hike if you have proper footwear (hiking boots, sturdy shoes) as it is difficult and can be very slippery. Leave yourself lots of time before nightfall. This is a super, cool place to hike in Niagara. It is a series of demanding trails (and a stair case to enter the trail head) that are on the shore of the roaring Niagara River. There are many geological formations from the water erosion and from the falls as they have receded up the river. Take a photo of the map at the top of the trail, so that you have a sense of where you are. Do not go into the water as they are Class VI rapids. Many people fish from the river bank. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on leash. This hike will take about 1.5-3 hours, depending on how much you explore.

Bonnie
From Bonnie's guidebook
Located deep in the Niagara Gorge, stairways lead to 4 kilometres (2.5 miles) of rugged paths that wind through this pristine pocket of Carolinian Forest, past prehistoric geological formations, wild flora and fauna. The Niagara Glen overlooks the rapid waters of the Niagara River and the natural phenomenon that is the Niagara River Whirlpool.
Zee
From Zee's guidebook
A staircase descends 60 metres into the gorge, where four kilometres of trails wind through ancient Carolinian forest, past house-sized boulders left over from the last ice age, and along the riverbank above the whirlpool. Bouldering permits are available at the Nature Centre for those inclined. It's one of the most consistently underrated places in the entire region.

Niagara Falls is a little over 2 hours from the cottage. I recommend a quick stop at Buffalo NY Canalside, Wilkenson Point to view Lake Erie and the Niagara River. Follow the route to Niagara Falls Park on Goat Island and walk the paths or take the trolly. My favorite spot on Goat Island is the three sisters islands. The Maid of the Mist and the Cave of the Winds are both awesome. If you only have time for one probably the Maid of the Mist. I would allow 3 to 4 hours for the actual visit plus driving time.

For a dash of spectacle during your trip to Niagara Falls, Ontario, don’t miss the world-class illusionists that grace the stage of the Greg Frewin Theatre, known for its magic show and tribute concert series. Make an evening of it and dine at the theatre buffet, or grab a drink at the full bar. Booth and table seating are available. Since the theatre is within walking distance of the falls, catching an evening performance and dinner after an active day spent sightseeing is easy.
