Mini Nordic Spa with hot tub, sauna & fire pit …

DaveRating, 5 stars1 month ago
This house was a wonderful place to spend a ski vacation at Alyeska. The kitchen was very well furnished and thoughtful things like a bluetooth speaker, dual washer/dryer, and boot dryer were included. The house is also the perfect location for apres ski to enjoy the high end hot tub and barrel sauna. The ski resort is any easy 4 minute drive with plenty of parking. A fun twist on skiing, the resort does not open until 10am, so we enjoyed many relaxing mornings with several pots of coffee before heading out. The Girdwood famous Double Musky Inn restaurant(great for steaks and deserts) is an easy 10 minute walk. There is a recreation path on the mtn road, so you could even bike to the resort if you wanted to. Be sure to stock up on groceries in Anchorage before heading to Girdwood as the town is small and does not have a full sized grocery.

Lovely place with incredible views of Homer and the spit. We rented both units and it was perfect for a large group. The owner was very welcoming, easy to communicate with, and accommodated the requests we had. The home is conveniently located by various restaurants and other vendors such as Safeway which made our stay more convenient and enjoyable!

Amazing Home in town to rest, relax, & enjoy view!

KeithRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We've stayed here multiple times and every single time the house was amazing. My wife and kids made the trip with us this year and were speechless when they walked inside with all of the amenities and creature comforts provided. You'll feel right at home, plus the views of Kachemak Bay are great. The neighborhood is extremely quiet and relaxing. Should you need to reach out to the Host, you can expect a quick reply and someone willing to work with you to make your stay stress-free and enjoyable. Thanks again and hope to be back next year!

The Fireweed Cabin

AnnmarieRating, 5 stars7 months ago
We ended up staying in both cabins when we added an extra night and they’re both wonderful! The instructions provided to get to the cabin were super clear and easy to follow. The host sent things to do ahead of time which was great and continued to be super responsive throughout the stay. This is the perfect place to stay for Denali as you’re in nature, surrounded by trees and views and very private while still not far from town and the park. The space was great for three of us. There’s a mini fridge, kettle, microwave, and coffee maker and then cups, coffee pods, tea, cream, and sugar/sweeteners provided. And a corkscrew! No wifi, but both Verizon and AT&T service is strong. We loved our stay here and would stay here again in the future! Highly recommend

Studio, ten minutes from airport, & walk to trails

BrendaRating, 5 stars7 months ago
Beverly was a lovely host and her place was exactly as described. There were no surprises. Location was great for what we wanted to do in Anchorage. My only comment would be more with AirBnB. As we were coming from Canada on the Alaska Highway and through Fairbanks, there were many areas where cell service and cell data are not available. Communicating with the host via the AirBnB app / web site is not efficient and messages can be missed.

Very nice stay in one side of Kris and Hal's duplex. This is a great location in Anchorage - walking distance from a nice market/coffee shop, downtown Anchorage with many places to eat and drink, and a short walk to the beautiful coastal trail for walking, biking, skiing. The two of us were very comfortable, felt nicely welcomed by Kris and Hal, and enjoyed the quiet, peaceful apartment with a cozy gas fireplace. Highly recommend this place and location in Anchorage!

Alaska Aurora Borealis

KelliRating, 5 stars7 months ago
Such a cozy cabin! Beds were comfortable and the cabin was stocked with some thoughtful touches. Would for sure recommend staying here if you are visiting Fairbanks. Just about 20 minute drive into town. Side note—Would not recommend doing the aurora tour if you are just going to the lodge unless you want a professional photographer taking pics for you. The lodge is very close to the cabin and it’s the same exact view.

Anchorage Family Guesthouse

We had a fantastic stay at Suzi’s place! The home was spotless, filled with great amenities, and the radiant floor heating made it especially cozy on those chilly winter nights. Suzi was incredibly thoughtful host. She suggested a different entrance due to the heavy snow, which was so helpful. When we left early in the morning, we were pleasantly surprised to find the path to our car already shoveled. We’d definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to others!

Your guide to Alaska

Welcome to Alaska

Soaring snow-covered mountain ranges, stark tundras, towering glaciers, and sprawling forests all collide within the boundaries of Alaska, where you’ll find the highest peak in North America and eight national parks. The state’s vast wilderness is home to grizzly bears, wolves, and moose, as well as off-the-gridders happy to trade the comforts of urban living for the austere beauty of Alaska’s rugged landscape. The ways you can experience this place are myriad: slice through the frontier on a glass-domed train, hitch a ride on a dog sled, or navigate the legendarily scenic Alaska Highway. Even the sun shines differently here. Thanks to Alaska’s location in the top half of the Northern Hemisphere, long summer days culminate in the summer solstice, during which it stays light for nearly 24 hours a day, before transitioning to the dark winter months. These unique features elevate Alaska to a singular state with stellar natural beauty.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Alaska

Alaska's vast geographical footprint means you can expect a range of weather throughout the state in any season, and timing your visit depends on what activities you want to optimize for. Summers in Alaska can be quite warm, particularly in the interior, and you can expect long, sunny days that make for great hiking. Winters are chilly, dark, and snowy — depending on where you are going, the temperatures can dip well below freezing. This season is ideal for skiing, snowmobiling, and all other kinds of cold weather fun, as well as spotting the Northern Lights. The shoulder seasons bring a mix of cold and warm weather as well as their own enticements, such as sightings of migratory whales and baby animals in the spring and changing leaves in the fall.

Top things to do in Alaska

Glacier Hopping

Alaska affords travelers many opportunities to get up close and personal with staggeringly large ice formations. In Juneau you can watch brown bears munch on salmon from the safe distance of a viewing platform on the 13-mile-long Mendenhall Glacier. Explore dazzling ice caves — with a seasoned guide — on the Hubbard Glacier near Yakutat, which towers 350 feet above the sealine. A kayak or boat is the preferred way to experience the Columbia Glacier in Valdez, which is one of the fastest moving in the world.

Northern Lights

Alaska is one of the best places to see this fantastic atmospheric phenomenon that produces spectacularly colorful, undulating light displays in the night sky. August through April are prime viewing months, and you have your choice of experiences, such as peeping them from a natural hot spring.

Denali National Park

At more than 20,300 feet high, this park’s namesake peak draws mountaineers in droves but is hardly the only attraction here. The national park’s six million acres encompass glaciers, rivers, and valleys accessed by a single road and are home to the Big Five mammals: moose, caribou, wolves, grizzly bears, and Dall sheep, famous for their extravagantly curved horns.
