Welcome to "Winterfell", our mountain cabin hide-away! Located just off a main road in Arnold, the house has easy access to Highway 4, and from there up to Bear Valley, or down to Murphy's. Our home has three guest suites (bedroom + bathroom) that we rent out. We do not charge cleaning or other fee, are dog-friendly, and have only a one night minimum stay (4 night maximum stay).
“Winterfell far exceeded our expectations. Aaron is a very congenial host. He told us that he and his wife (whom we didn't meet) try to provide their guests with the amenities they enjoy when they stay at Airbnbs, and it's hard to think of any they've missed, from a well-stocked snack cabinet and fridge (no charges for any of this) to a welcome bottle of wine with appropriate glasses. The bedroom/living room combo is very cozy, and the location was quite close to Calaveras Big Trees State Park, where the hiking is fantastic and the Sequoias amazing, and to Bear Valley Ski Area. (Plus, there's a terrific Italian restaurant, Serafina, a few miles away.) It was almost balmy on the late February weekend we were there, but there was enough snow for us to enjoy snowshoeing at a little higher elevation. We especially enjoying talking with Aaron about his interesting career and his Peace Corps experience. We'd stay here again!”
near big trees state park, Bear Valley Mt. Reba ski resort and summer kayaking, hiking, 2 hours to Tahoe and or Yosemite. In the Stanislaus national forest.
“We love staying at Kathy’s. It’s our third stay. Kids play with her darling dogs and we feel like hanging out with family. It’s a lovely spot for those enjoying the charm of Arnold/Bear Valley Area. Highly recommend it!”
The Hideaway is an enchanting one room casita situated on the outer crest of the retreat hosting property, The Confluence (Canoe, Pond, Garden, Community Space, Various Rental Listings). Wake up to the sunrise with a lush *View* of the natural countryside from your private, shaded deck. The Hideaway is accessed by a short foot path from the Main House. The Main House contains the shared kitchen, bathroom, and larger shared deck equipped with seating, mosquito netting and table.
“This place is by far the best little hidden gem we have found. Beautiful setting/property, super friendly and knowledgeable host Ms. Bri. She gave us plenty of recommendations . The owners were super welcoming they gave us a brief history of the property it was very interesting. Everything was very clean the wood burning stove kept us toasty all night and the smell was amazing. It felt like glamping. There is a cave about 4 minutes from the property and everything else is super close only about 8 minutes from Murphy's center. We did share bathroom and kitchen in the main house they were super clean and spacious. We loved and enjoyed our stay wish we would have stayed longer. We will be back.”
