Pet-friendly vacation rentals in Lamu

I spent a week at Ras Firdaws with 6 of my friends to celebrate my 50th birthday, and I couldn’t have chosen a more perfect villa and location. The Villa is so spacious, all rooms have en suite bathrooms and there are plenty of balconies and various areas to relax and chill. There is a rooftop terrace, perfect for sundowners- we even had a live music performance there on the evening of my birthday! Being right on the water it was conveniently located for water taxi/Dhow pick ups and drop offs. And for taking a dip in the bay to cool down. The villa comes with a wonderful team of friendly staff who shopped, cooked, cleaned and took care of all our needs with a smile. The owners/hosts were extremely helpful in providing us with any assistance or information we needed. All in all we had the most blissful holiday and have all fallen in love with magical Lamu.

Wow Wow Wow, what an amazing place. If you are looking for absolute peace and tranquility then Shanti House in Lamu is the place to go. Amazing setting right on the beach with breathtaking sunset, great beach walks, etc. The staff where great and Steven the house assistant was there to help with anything when needed. Although there is great restaurants around, no need to go out and look for restaurants as the chef Katana was amazing and his food was spectacular. I highly recommend Shanti House for anyone looking for an amazing beach holiday experience.

Lovely house and great location within Shela. We had 4 children and there was lots of space for them too. All the staff were super friendly and Ali is a fantastic cook. Would recommend

Spectacular. I don’t think any words can justify our incredible stay at Forodhani House but I’ll try. The house itself is jaw-dropping. Charming Swahili architectural elements with an open floor plan that maximizes the 180 degree sea view. The bedrooms are generous to say the least, with well designed en-suite bathrooms that rival 5-star hotels. Yes. You will be wowed by how it looks. But the best part of the house is how it feels. The way it’s designed, the cross breeze flows beautifully through the entire property. And still, somehow the house isn’t the best part of our stay. The best part is the house staff. Without too much fuss or fanfare, the staff preemptively cared for our every need. They remembered how we liked our tea and how we liked the lights to be at dinner. 5-star service from beginning to end. Then there was the food. every meal prepare by the in-house chef Cylus left us speechless. We didn’t eat dinner anywhere else. Core memory stuff.

We enjoyed a great stay at Waridi House. The team looked after us very well and the covered garden and balcony areas were execellent for hanging out despite the rain. The pool is small for adults, but our kids (9 and 11) actually loved dipping in it more than usual

The house is a great place if you want to be away from noise and distraction. A little paradise :) it‘s around 10 min to walk to the beach (with kids of course it can take longer… 🙈) but if you are lazy you can ask bodabodas (motobikes) to pick you. The chef was amazing, really good food! So no need to go to any restaurant in Lamu town or Shela :) From the beach it is just a 5 min boat ride to Shela. We felt very safe and would always come back, asante sana!

Super idyllic place! Definitely best location to be and relax. Staff is extremely kind and there are lots of nice activities (movie night, live music). Loved it a lot!

Our stay here was incredible - it was a short 10 minute walk from Shela town, but felt much more private and distant in a good way. The houses were very homely and beautifully built, and it was a pleasure to wake up to the sun and wind every morning there

His description does not really do it justice! It is far bigger than you will expect and easily accommodate 6 without issues. Best thing though, was Abdillah himself. Friendly, helpful and a great tour guide around the village of Shela. This has been his home his entire life and it shows. I would recommend anyone wanting a relaxing yet exciting vacation, long or short, to visit Shela and stay in his place. We will be returning next year with our children! We had a great time in Shela. The place is beautiful and reigns peace. Chloé's house is comfortable and welcoming. Dickson has been a very kind and professional host. She responded quickly to all our requests and delighted us every day with her kitchen. Chloé's house is highly recommended and, if I go back to Shela I'm sure to repeat. Thank you very much for a great few days.

We booked it with a very short notice maybe 2 hours prior to the check in time. Still was the host very helpful and quick to organise everything for us. We had a great experience and enjoyed the location. It was very central and this gave us a great exponents of lamu! Will gladly come back!
