“We had the loveliest two days in Heath's house. The location is gorgeous, with amazing views from the balconies. the house is incredibly well built, beautiful and decorated with such taste. We were three adults and 4 children, and they had a blast. There was lots of room, and they loved being inside and out. Heath's parents who live nearby were so helpful, as was Kiprono and we got an amazing cook to come and do dinner, which I would really recommend. We will absolutely be back! Thank you again for an amazing stay.”
Olomayiana is a private self-catering bush camp about 90 minutes from Nairobi Airport and 1.5 hours from Amboseli National Park. It's our home, but work means we often have to be in Nairobi, so we offer it out on Airbnb when we are not there. Bedrooms are either en-suite tents or en-suite cottages. There are staff at the camp to help you with cleaning and washing-up.
“Olomayaina Private Bush Camp was just the restorative experience my family and I needed. A friend and I took my two teenage boys, my elderly mom and two of our dogs and the camp was perfect for everyone. My mom was able to be in the adorable tent close to the dining area, the boys in the bunk tent and my friend and I in the more unique glass cottage and hobbit house. The glass cottage overlooks the watering hole and I woke up to Cape Buffalo one morning and warthogs and bushbuck on another. The cottage is private with a large bed, beautiful bathroom and lovely kitengela glass throughout. It also has a deck with a deep couch, perfect for game watching while reading and napping. The hobbit house is at the bottom of the property and set in a large boulder. It's spacious and has a bed that can be wheeled out onto the deck for a sleeping under the stars experience! The central area has plenty of space for lounging, eating, playing badminton, star gazing and hanging by the fire in the evening. It has wonderful views to the east and is outfitted with everything you could need. Nestled up the hill is the pool, a fabulous place to spend the afternoon sunbathing and watching the animals at the watering hole. Daniel is onsite and is a great guide to show you the hikes if you haven't been. We went on four hikes that included a visit to some rock drawings, a sunrise hike to see Mt. Kiliminjaro (she remained hidden in mist but it was beautiful nonetheless), and the neighbouring orphanage. The birding is great so bring binoculars along and a bird book. We did the day trip to Amboseli which took us about two hours but was well worth the drive as we saw lots of game, especially elephants, and had the place almost to ourselves. If you have dogs they will be in canine heaven. My two loved the hikes and hanging in camp, though you would need to make sure your dogs are well-disciplined so they don't disturb the wildlife or get hurt. For those looking for a restorative peaceful bush getaway you will find it here.”

“Nicole's place is amazing! My wife and I spent a week there during COVID and just wish we'd never left :) So some great things that we loved about the place that maybe aren't super obvious from the reviews and profile: • we were mostly self-catering, but their staff was really impeccable about the sanitizing/mask/sanitation protocol when we did need them to clean our cottage. Really well done. • The local tips were incredible. We tried, and struck out, on some local fisherman contacts we had gotten from previous trips before staying at Nicole's place. Nicole's fisherman was amazing and we felt like locals by the time we left. It was really great to have the freshest seafood daily (at absolutely amazing prices!!) through Nicole's contacts. • In my opinion, this is on the best overall stretch of beach in Diani/Galu area. If you're familiar with 40 Thieves, it's on the stretch of white sand that goes on forever, and is super soft and amazing. • I love corals and just swimming out into the reefs. Grab some snorkels or goggles and just swim out, there's some great coral just a few metres swim out at low tide. I saw mantis shrimp, giant clams, several types of morays and a harlequin snake eel, sea cucumbers, and a grouper just metres out on my last swim there. • With COVID, the beach is super quiet. It's almost like you have it to yourself. We were so glad to self-cater but splurge on Nicole's place - it was totally worth it. Honestly, the best possible place to social distance but feel refreshed, energized, and loving life with the environment Diani, Nicole, and her team provides.”
