Hosts offering emergency stays through provide comfort to a family evacuating because of a wildfire, a refugee making a life-saving journey, or a relief worker deploying in the wake of a hurricane. After signing up, Hosts also will get an Supporter badge on their profiles.

Booking requests

Hosts may receive requests directly from potential guests or from official partners of approved to book on behalf of impacted guests. currently supports:

  • People affected by a major disaster
  • Refugees, asylum seekers, Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) holders, or other newcomers
  • Relief workers responding in an official capacity to a major disaster

Eligibility is often determined by an official partner responding to the event. Guests’ eligibility may be reviewed by, its nonprofit partners, referral organizations, or service providers.

Third-party booking:

In some instances, a nonprofit partner of will book on behalf of the guest and act as a point of contact between the guest and the host. They communicate reservation details, house rules, and instructions to guests and may assist them throughout the stay with additional services.


You may offer your listing for free to support people in times of crisis, or you may choose to offer your space at a lower charitable rate.

Here’s what you need to know about setting your rate:

  • The charitable rate must be less than your current average daily rate. Pricing your listing as low as possible will help stretch nonprofit funds to help house more people.
  • You will still receive your cleaning fee. Listings offered for free are exempt from cleaning fees.
  • Normal taxes apply.
  • Airbnb waives all service fees for all stays.
  • Smart pricing and other discounts are not applied.

Getting protected through AirCover

AirCover for Hosts is top-to-bottom protection that provides up to $3 million USD in damage protection and $1 million USD in liability insurance. It’s always included and always free whenever you host. Host damage protection, a part of AirCover, provides Hosts with $3 million USD in coverage in the rare event your place or belongings are damaged by a guest during a stay. Host liability insurance, also a part of AirCover, provides Hosts with $1 million USD in coverage in the rare event a guest gets hurt, or their belongings are damaged or stolen while they’re staying at your place.

Manage your calendar

Your listing will have the same calendar for both Airbnb, and stays. That means if it’s been booked by Airbnb guests, it won’t be available for guests on those dates and vice versa.

If you have created a new listing through, then dates will only be available to guests and are not searchable to Airbnb guests.
