Step back in time at our restored 1890 train depot, set on a peaceful North Dakota farmstead. This one-of-a-kind stay blends historic charm with a rustic “glamping” experience, offering wide-open views, fresh air, and a true escape from city life.

If you’re looking to unplug, reconnect, and enjoy nature, this is your place.

The space
The building is a single level historic train depot, complete with loading dock and ramp. The space you will be renting is two large rooms. The depot has some modern features (like electricity) but most of its charm is from the historic character. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A UPGRADED “GLAMPING” STYLE STAY

Inside there is 1 large bedroom with the original luggage rack, floor to ceiling storage cabinets, wood floors, large original windows and a private entrance. In this room you will find the king memory foam bed, and memory foam topper, a leather couch, and a large tv with a Roku should you choose to bring a WiFi hotspot. There are two doors to the enter the property from the loading dock (with ramp, no railing). Once inside the two rooms are separated by a huge original glass door. The middle of the depot is a common space with a queen and a double bed, it contains an antique wood burning stove (we do ask at this time that it is for looks/historical purposes), a refrigerator, an old table with 4 chairs, a microwave, glass range top and oven, George Forman electric griddle, a hutch holding utensils, glass dishes and a desk at the ticket window overlooking the valley. The original wood floors have not been redone in this room so you can see the splatter marks from feather pens dripping ink from the ticket booth ink wells. Outside the depot you will find lots of trees, a small stream, space to park, a wooded area to hike, a fire area (wind and weather permitting) lawn space, woven wire fenced yard, and there is even an outhouse. In a short walk down to the river there is a bridge the locals love to jump off of. Staying with us isn’t completely roughing it but it’s a step back in time to a land without modern technology interfering with good conversation, listening to nature, playing yard and board games, and enjoying one another instead of cell phones, internet, and all the amenities we take for granted and get distracted by in our life. This property helped us appreciate so much and we want to share that experience with you.
I have tried to include many photos but they do not do the view justice in my opinion.

There is potential for booking additional sleeping space in the school house (shared space listed separately on Air BnB) or the possibility for renting a camper or camping /RV space (please discuss in advance). We do have an additional twin bunk bed.
This year we are currently renovating the bathroom in the schoolhouse. A shower/bathroom is available in our shared space, as well as the outhouse.
We will do our best to customize this experience to your needs if you would like to share what you would like to do on your stay. Kayaks may also be available to kayak the river along the bottom of our property (life jackets must be worn, we do have some sizes available or you are welcome to bring your own to guarantee one would be available).

ALL guests and pets are required to be listed on the reservation. Any guest not included will be asked to leave the premises.

A few disclaimers: Our home is constantly under construction/updates for the most part this will only effect the shared space. This is an old property in the middle of the country so please expect that this will be drastically different then a city stay (dark nights, animal noises, bugs, and dirt). Make sure you fill up with gas and bring any food or snacks you will need. It’s at least 10 miles to the closest convenience store and they close in the evenings.

The depot is insulated but is not climate controlled (be prepared for hot and cold weather). We do our best to offer additional amenities for comfort but please plan accordingly.

For allergy purposes I would like to add there are rescue animals/pets on the property, including dogs, rescued barn cats, donkeys, sheep, a goose, chickens and horses. All animals are loved and vetted. We do animal rescue so the animals on the property change on a regular basis. If you would like to interact with any specific animal please let us know and we will do our best to make that a reality.

We love animals so we would be delighted to host your pet too! Shoot us a message if you are traveling with a horse or other large animal as we will do our best to accommodate special circumstances.
If you are booking with a pet there will be a $75 pet fee and a $75 pet deposit for up to 2 dogs. Additional pet fees apply above 2 dogs. Please send an inquiry if you have multiple animals or questions and we will discuss deposit options. Pets must be altered, animal friendly and current on vaccinations. Pets are to stay on leash, off furniture and out of beds. Your deposit will be returned as long as their is no damage or additional cleaning.
We have some rescued outdoor resident cats and they are the dog greeters so for that reason we do require your dog to be cat friendly for the safety of our resident animals.

Hunters: we require a deposit which varies by group size. Typically $100 each. This deposit is completely refundable if items aren’t damaged, or requiring additional cleaning. We do have a few additional rules for hunting groups. Game is to be cleaned and waste is disposed off property, all laws must be followed and all land must have permission to hunt. Please message for more info and questions. Reach out we would love to chat about your hunting group!

Other things to note
Gas, groceries, and dining can be a bit of a drive (15 mins or so) so please plan accordingly. We encourage you to bring food and snacks. There is also a local restaurant and bar 7 miles away that offers food 7 days a week for lunch and dinner service. If you need anything we are happy to help.

We do not allow unregistered guests on the property. Please make sure your booking request is accurate.

Neighborhood highlights

We are a mile or so from the nearest neighbors but we are right along the road. It can be very quiet and peaceful at night or you may hear the occasional coyote howl. We do not have large yard lights so you can see an uninterrupted view of the stars on cloud free nights.
