Cottage vacation rentals in Williamsburg

This is a special place on Little Oyster Creek/Windmill Point Creek just off the Rappahannock River. It was a great home base for exploring the area by boat. Fleets Island is gorgeous and we thoroughly enjoyed the dock, the fire pit, the hot tub, and the amazing sunsets and river views. One thing to note if you arrive later in the evening is that you will need to make your own beds with the sheets that are provided. No big deal though. I also recommend bug spray. We had a great time and hope to be back.

Loved this place! The house was beautiful and had everything we needed for a girls weekend. Quiet, peaceful, property was well maintained with gorgeous views of water, sunrise. Plenty of things to do on the property. Pool and hottub very clean. The screened in porch was very nice and we ate all our meals there. Kitchen well stocked and clean and we had everything we needed for cooking and grilling. Short drive to Matthews with shops and restaurants. Can't say enough about how nice this place was. Will definitely go back!

Gorgeous view out the back over the York River. We went crabbing from the dock and had multiple bonfires after watching the most beautiful sunsets from the back yard. Fantastic outdoor amenities including a cook shack, outdoor refrigerator, multiple dining tables, and hot tub. Landscaping was immaculate. Located on a quiet road with absolutely no light pollution so the star gazing at night is flawless! Only a few cons that I would make guests aware of. First, is that it is a very rural location with few dining/entertainment options nearby. It's a good 25min to Yorktown, 40min to Williamsburg, and 50+ mins to Hampton. You could spend your entire vacation in the backyard or fishing from the dock and probably not be disappointed, but be aware that you will have a long drive to dining/entertainment. The second was that it wasn't the most kid's friendly. There are no bath tubs, only showers, no bunk/kid beds, and no toys for young kids. If those don't bother you, then you'll love it!

This place had everything I was looking for. The hot tub and access to the beach were priceless for our group. House was very comfortable and had everything you might need. We will booking the place again if we are back in the area.

Gorgeous, peaceful and spacious. The grounds, amenities and location were just what I was looking for and needed. The sunrises were AMAZING!!!😍 Will definitely stay there again.

Absolutely loved our quick weekend jaunt to the Old Log Schoolhouse! Pictures don’t do the serene outdoors proper justice. It was exactly what we needed to unplug from our crazy, fast-paced lives for a couple of days. Note, this house is over a century old and full of antique charm and squeaky noises. For some, this might not be the vibe you want, but for us, it was perfect. Richard thought of everything for this lovely slice of bay life. We used the hot tub, table fire pit, camp fire, kayaks, bbq grill and more than anything—the fishing pier! It even lit up at night for our best fishing at and just after sunset. We caught a handful of fish and more blue crabs than we could count. We’ll definitely be back next year!

A Hidden Gem – The Perfect Getaway! It was hard to leave this hidden gem, but we will definitely be back! The Crab Shack is everything and more than described—charming, quaint, quiet, and the ultimate relaxing waterfront retreat. The peaceful atmosphere, the sound of lapping waves, watching the boats go by - truly a serene experience. We were graced by the most amazing star-filled skies each night, and a beautiful blue heron who gave us a swoon each sunset. Our lab had a great time too, enjoying fun and frolic with Sister Brown, the neighbors sweet pup. We were familiar with the area, and so loved coming back to our favorite foodie restaurants and enjoyed strolling through the shops and exploring roads less travelled. Carlisle (owner) was incredibly responsive, so helpful and ensured The Shack was stocked with everything needed -- he was the perfect (and most pleasant) host. We can’t recommend the Crab Shack enough—it’s a perfect slice of paradise!

Such a wonderful vacation at the cottage!! We had our family vacation there and it was so relaxing! Such a beautiful view and the cottage was so cozy and clean. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed. The beds were super comfortable. Would love to come back in the summer!

This home was close to the beach and there was a farmers market across the street at a very nice park. The furniture and beds were comfortable. We had a problem with the one of the bathrooms but it was fixed quickly. I recommend this home!

Clean house, walkable to the beach, friendly/responsive host. This place is small, but adequate. The host provided snacks & a bottle of wine, which was very nice. Since there’s a U.S. Naval base nearby, be prepared to hear VERY loud fighter jet planes flying overhead throughout the day. Overall, it was a nice stay.

This is our third year visiting but it’s usually in the summer. We stayed for a long weekend for our first fall experience at the Cottage on Prentice Creek and it’s a lovely time of year! Looking forward to staying again next year. Hanne and Grady are most gracious hosts and they make us feel completely at home. Thank you for sharing your place with us!!!

We love this cottage. It is close to town so you can take advantage of all that Cape Charles offers. It's in the country so our dog had a yard to play in. The cottage was very comfortable and well appointed. We had everything we needed. It was spotless, which can be difficult for a pet friendly unit. The master bedroom bed was comfortable. Doug, Hannah and the co-host were very communicative and anticipated many of our need. We highly recommend staying in Doug and Hannah's cottage. You will not be disappointed.

We really enjoyed our stay. Such a pretty neighborhood and nice vibe on the island. The beaches nearby were peaceful and lovely with a nice sandy bottom for walking in the water. My dog had a wonderful time getting the zoomies on the beach. If I go back, I will bring a paddleboard with me. The water was calm for the most part except when it became windy one day. Three cheers for the Hatchery! They closed early on Friday night so we had to wait until Saturday, but such a nice vibe out there, beautiful view and excellent food. We had roasted oysters for the first time and they were delicious. My recommendation is to bring your own breakfast food. We couldn't find a coffee shop in Mathews and ended up trying a couple of diners, neither of which were all that great. But good shopping in Mathews with interesting stuff.

Loved everything about our stay at Nate’s place. He was super friendly and always super helpful with anything I needed. His home was absolutely beautiful, clean, and had everything we needed to feel right at home. The beach was a quick four minute walk. There was plenty to keep you entertained when we stayed in and we enjoyed the quiet neighborhood and private back deck. We miss it already Wonderful host, will definitely try to book with Nate again if we are ever in the area again!

This sweet cottage was so clean and so comfortable. Very comfy beds and living room furniture. The screened in porch and deck had plenty of sitting. It was beautifully decorated and had one of the best well stocked kitchens of any airbnb we have ever stayed at. Great shower and fluffy towels. We spent one day at Havens Beach and were able to take provided beach chairs and beach towels. We also enjoyed eating at Southwinds Pizza in the little town of Matthew’s. Would definitely come back!

Jimmy and his place were AMAZING!! He was very responsive to inquiries and gave excellent suggestions for local fare. What drew me to the listing was being able to walk to the beach. The description of what to expect in terms of surf was spot on. My kids (7 & 4) had no trouble navigating the water. The home was well stocked with everything we would need. We absolutely plan to come back for years to come.

The Bird house was perfect for our stay for a family wedding weekend. The thoughtful touches that were provided were very much appreciated. The kitchen was stocked with coffee and cream and fresh snacks were waiting for us. The front porch was welcoming with lovely flowers and pumpkins. The setting was so peaceful nestled in the trees. We had a wonderful week at Gwynn’s Island. Access to the private pier was perfect for morning coffee and fishing all day long. Gorgeous sunrise views on the deck and easy access to the beach. We can’t wait to come back!

My stay was everything and more!!! Beautiful location lots to do. Peaceful with friendly river neighbors. My favorite was sitting on the floating lounge and catching blue crabs!! I would stay here everytime!!

Comfortable house in a great location. We had fun riding the bikes around town. I would say there are 3 adult bikes and 2 kid bikes.

What a charming place! The kitchen is beautiful and open and clean. The sitting area is comfortable with beautiful views of the water and sunset. Outside sitting areas were welcomed given the weather was perfect. The beds are very comfortable (especially the sheets)! We hope to return!
