Arcata Getaway -Walk to the Beach!

JustineRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Place was perfect for my family and I. We even brought along our corgi. Patricia messaged me the day before our arrival that she would let me know if we could check in earlier and it worked out perfectly as we were tired from the long drive and were able to check in a little before our scheduled time.

Rock Rose Cottage, Cozy & Peaceful

GabrielaRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
We had a two day stay with our baby and dog. Our stay was restful and relaxing. The space is very beautifully decorated and cozy. There were some enjoyable reads placed around the space. The kitchen was stocked with essentials and made cooking our meals easy. We appreciated the dog amenities like food bowls and dog towel to wipe paws, as well as front/back yard space for our dog to explore. Would recommend for families and dog owners.

Cozy Retreat in Trinidad, Cuba

PaulRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
Simple and comfortable place to stay in the village of Trinidad. Walkable to the harbor, market, breakfast, fresh seafood market. It is not fancy, but it is roomy and clean. Our family of 4 would definitely stay there again. We had a great time hiking the redwoods and beaches and do not need fancy digs with a hot tub and sweeping views (plenty fantastic views nearby). That said, there is a nice little backyard with table and chairs. Very enjoyable stay.

Sea Gull House couples retreat beach fish dinners

PatRating, 5 stars7 months ago
A very quiet, secluded and beautiful spot; felt like we were in a treehouse. Rose and Dick were very welcoming and helpful. We wish we could have enjoyed the sunset from their deck as they welcomed us to do, but next time. We enjoyed our visit and their unit.

Beautiful peaceful retreat. Very close to neighboring towns and beaches, but far enough way you feel you are in the forest. The sauna was a nice treat.

Tiny Launch Pad

LacyRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
A great Tiny Launching pad, in an ideal location to explore the surrounding area from the Redwoods to the Ocean. The tiny house was rustic, the loft bed was surprisingly comfortable! Very charming! It was interesting having to go outside to use the bathroom. (Just make sure you go before you’re in bed!) It would have been nice having the walkway to the bathroom paved, kinda uneven ground and the grass overgrown. A fun, tiny house experience. Would stay here again!

Carmela’s Penthouse in the heart of Arcata!

TonyRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Had a lovely time in Arcata. Ruby’s place is situated in a great spot, walkable to downtown destinations as well as Humboldt campus. Everything in the apartment was just like described. Felt like home. Despite being above the restaurant, it feels private and no noticeable restaurant noise.

This is our 2nd visit to Lala’s house and we were so impressed. Lala has thought of everything, from the well stocked kitchen to the raincoats and cooler for picnics, we had everything needed to make my family’s stay comfortable. It is conveniently located just 30 minutes from the redwoods which is my favorite place on earth ❤️ Lala communicated with us throughout our stay to make sure all our needs were met. We will definitely be staying at this home again, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Bright studio w/yard and laundry, blocks to CPH

EmilyRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Erin's place was adorable! The decor was cute and inviting. Our dogs loved the private yard. Erin was very communicative, giving detailed instruction about arrival, and we felt welcome the moment we walked in. It is worth mentioning that the bed is really tall. If you're vertically challenged, like me, you might need a boost. It's very comfy once you're up there though. I'd gladly stay at Erin's place again!

Coastal-Country Cottage (Pet friendly with fee).

AmandaRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
This was my family’s second time staying during spring break vacation and it was just as great as the first time. This time we brought our dog and accommodations were great. The house has easy access, quiet and peaceful. The living room television has been upgraded to a larger size which was awesome for our family movie nights on Netflix. Eric was very responsive when we had WiFi questions and welcoming at our independent check in. We look forward to another vacation here again.😊

This was a really clean and comfortable space. I can’t believe that no one has mentioned the insanely good water pressure and endless hot water supply! My family of three showered back to back without rushing or running out. Good stock of coffee supplies on hand.

The place was very clean and nice and looked exactly like the photos. We got there when it was dark, so a little hard to find as its in a deep network of neighborhoods. But with the additional directions the host gave us it was very clear!

Vimala Voga Botanical Beach Retreat House Arcata

MelindaRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Alex and Allison's place was such a pristine and peaceful place to spend a few days with our kiddos, ages 6 and 8. It was clean and just the right size for our family. The location was great and central to so many places on our to-see list, including Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, Trinidad and a short drive to downtown Arcata. The beds were cozy, the yard area was private/enclosed and the fun additions around the house and yard, including the piano and the outside swing (smaller kids/toddlers only), were bonuses. Thank you, Alex and Allison!

Your guide to Trinidad

All About Trinidad

On California’s wild Lost Coast 90 minutes from the Oregon border, the small seaside village of Trinidad boasts big trees, untamed beaches, and jaw-dropping views of the Pacific Ocean. In fact, Trinidad is designated as a California Coastal National Monument Gateway — a title given to sections of the coast that are important as both a tourist destination and wildlife habitat. Just off the coast, Green Rock and Flatiron Rock provide a home to a dozen species of seabirds — the most diverse seabird population in California.

To experience the natural beauty of the town up close, you can hike or bike the Trinidad Head Trail Loop, which winds along the coast through stands of towering redwood and spruce trees. A walk on the Trinidad Pier, which juts out into the protected waters of the Trinidad Harbor, offers the chance to experience the rocky coastline from a different perspective. The pier is also a great place to try your hand at fishing or crabbing, as you listen to the waters hitting the shore.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Trinidad

May through early November is generally considered the best time to stay in a vacation rental in Trinidad. Not only are the temperatures warm and the seas calm during this time, but the skies tend to be clear once the morning fog rises. This is also considered the region’s dry season, although you may still have to account for the occasional rain shower. During this time, you can also find numerous events and festivals held around town, like the Trinidad Fish Festival, where you will find fresh fish dishes, live music, and a kid’s zone on the third Sunday in June. If you make the trip during the rainy season — November through April — you will likely witness a winter storm and cold weather, so come prepared with warm waterproof boots and a coat.

Top things to do in Trinidad

Sue-Meg State Park

Located around 10 minutes north of Trinidad in the heart of redwood country, the Sue-Meg State Park covers 640 acres of diverse landscape, including sandy shoreline, rocky cliffs, and lush forests with mature spruce, redwoods, and pines. You can explore the varying scenic views and wildlife along one of the numerous trails here. Several exhibits showcasing the cultural and natural history of the park are also available. During the summer months, kids can enjoy Junior Ranger programs with nature walks through the park.

Trinidad Head Memorial Lighthouse

Located in the harbor around two minutes from downtown Trinidad, the Trinidad Head Memorial Lighthouse is a 25-foot lighthouse built in 1949 as a replica of the original 1871 Trinidad Head Lighthouse. It is an important site in the area’s rich maritime history, not only acting as a monument to those lost at sea, but also as the site of the 1971 Fourth Order Fresnel Lens and the 1898 Fog Bell.

Trinidad Museum

Located in a historic home that dates back to the turn of the 20th century. The Trinidad Museum focuses on the history of the area. Here, you’ll find five exhibit rooms focused on the original Tsurai Village, Yurok traditions, the Gold Rush, fishing, logging, and the Trinidad Head Lighthouse. Outside of the museum, you can enjoy the native garden and pond.
