  • Beautiful village, beautiful cottage, exactly as advertised! Would definitely recommend this place! It was extremely clean and just perfect forbwhat we wanted.

  • The cottage is stunning and has everything you need for your time away. The cottage is lovely and warm and very cosy. We went on walks straight out from the cottage as it’s in such a lovely area. The tea shop just up the road is perfect for lunch and the owners were very kind in recommending local walks. We went to the local pub just a few steps up the road from the cottage on one of our evenings. Again they were very friendly and we had a lovely meal and would certainly recommend booking a meal. We couldn’t of wanted more from our stay and will certainly be booking to stay again.

  • Milton Abbas is unique and magical........steeped in history and sits in one of the most beautiful counties in the UK. Lars’s home gives you the perfect opportunity to be a part of that. A wonderfully cosy space, well appointed and immaculate. Lars was super helpful ahead of our arrival; very straightforward to get into the property and settle straight in. I’ll be back for sure! Thanks Lars. (Note.......there’s a great pub in the village but recommend checking early in the day if they’re serving food in the evening as we were un-successful in spite of the website advertising food service every evening. You’re in the sticks so be sure to have back up plans in the fridge!!)

  • Fabulous house, situated in the picture perfect village of Milton Abbas. Lars was great to communicate with, the house was immaculate and provided a perfect base for our few days away. Particularly enjoyed how warm is was, as the weather wasn't kind to us. We enjoyed a trip to the Tank Museum on the rainiest day, a windy picnic on beautiful Durdle Door beach and a classic british seaside trip to Swanage. Tea rooms in the village we lovely, really friendly and great with the kids. Would love to return. Thanks so much.

    Lizzie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely place to stay, super clean, peacefully and cosy. With tea rooms and pub both a few doors away. Not far from the coast so good for day trips to Lulworth and Kimmeridge.

    Lorely2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • It was a very easy stay, we had no problems at all. We were really looking forward to our stay as the place looks amazing online and the cottage did not disappoint, all the amenities you need. The village is beautiful even in Storm Dennis! It’s so peaceful we didn’t even know there was anything going on outside! The pub Hambro Arms up the road was really accommodating we went on valentines evening with the kids! Our second night we stayed in and it was home from home (but much tidier and cleaner at Lars!) We did the lovely Milton Abbey Trail at the bottom of the village which kept us busy before all the rain. We had a wonderful cream tea just a few houses down in the tea room. We even managed a quick stop for supplies 15 mins up the road in Blandford (although I didn’t realise there was a quaint post office/shop in a house across the road - kids loved going in for their sweets). Although we didn’t get out as much as we wanted if I had to be stuck indoors anywhere Lars cottage is the best and now we have an excuse to go back in better weather!

  • A super clean, lovely space, with everything you could need. We visited whilst our daughter-in-law was giving birth and Lars couldn’t have been more helpful during an anxious time. A great Post Office and pub within very easy walking distance. Would definitely recommend.

The Old Forge is a large 4 bedroomed cottage in the marvellous and historic village of Milton Abbas. Unusually, the entire original village is listed as a grade 2*, steeped in history, and designed by the renowned Capability Brown. The local vistas and views are simply stunning. Our cottage is furnished in a cottagey period style but has all the modern conveniences needed for our modern day lives. There is a wonderful pub in the village serving fantastic food.
You are assured of total peace and quiet in this gorgeous village. The clean air and clear skies generally invite one of the best nights sleep you have ever had! Milton Abbas is a hot spot in the local area for tourists, walkers and cyclists. It has quaint traditions including a biannual street party that bring the village back to 18th century roots and attract many thousands to the village! Milton Abbas is within a 10-minute walk from Milton Abbey and Milton Abbey School, This stunning abbey has roots that go back to 935. The grounds designed by Capability Brown are breath taking. There is a very attractive 9 hole golf course. The school hosts an international (classical) music festival every summer.
The cottage has 2 double bedrooms and two generous single bedrooms allowing for 6 people. There is a large bathroom and a further shower room. There is plenty of parking, Wi-Fi and a Sonos music system. (mobile reception is poor in the area) TV is provided via satellite and Netflix is installed The garden is terraced and laid into many separate and private areas with chocolate box views over the surrounding thatched houses. It is sunny and south facing and generally protected from the wind. There is also an area of private woodland! The area caters extremely well for walking, cycling and horse riding. We can easily fix up hacks via the local riding centre.
  • Great place to stay. As always beautifully kept house and great host.

  • A small, but perfectly formed en-suite room with a fresh continental breakfast in the cosy lounge, this was excellent value for money. Richard and Tina were thoughtful hosts who also gave generously of their time to describe the area for us. Just what we wanted.

    Jean2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Warm welcome in a really nice house from a lovely couple. We had a great time in Milton Abbas. The breakfast was really good with view of birds just outside the window. The room is lovely and we slept very well. We recommend!

    Nadine2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Richard and Tina are wonderful hosts who have created a lovely welcoming environment in their home. The cosy room has everything you need, plus the bed is very comfortable. The ensuite bathroom is also very well designed, all in all it's perfect. The breakfast is a lovely added bonus, a real treat. The village is exactly as described, chocolate box pretty houses and a scenic abbey to walk to. The stay is full of thoughtful touches and it's great to be able to get top tips about the area, I will definitely staying with Richard and Tina again.

  • Richard and Tina were fabulous hosts, there to meet me on arrival with parking right out side there home. The room was delightful, clean and spacious with an lovely en-suite bathroom. The breakfast spread in the morning was a real treat as well, with plenty of options, in a cosy setting. Thank you very much for my stay. Defiantly recommend.

    Jess2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Rich & Tina are a really lovely couple. Their home is cosy and welcoming. We stayed in the double ensuite which was really comfortable. It's a great place to stay if you want to explore the surrounding areas. Milton Abbas is very picturesque and has a great pub, The Hanbro Arms which does very good food. We would definitely stay again. It was a shame we couldn't have stayed for longer.

Our Shepherd's Hut has wonderful unspoilt views across the Dorset countryside in a quiet secluded spot on our small farm. The refurbished traditional shepherd's hut is fully insulated and has a cosy log stove with wood provided and it's own en suite and kitchenette with a gas BBQ and fire pit . Decking connects the hut to the en suite and kitchenette. An awning along one side of the hut provides a sheltered area for cooking on the BBQ and storing outdoor equipment.
I refurbished the shepherd's hut in 2009 and I often use it in the spring during the lambing season so I can keep an eye on the flock. I have recently added a separate block containing an en suite with shower, basin and toilet and a separate kitchenette with decking and an awning connecting the two. The surrounding woods are amazing in the spring with thousands of bluebells, wild garlic and wood anemones. The hut has a double bed and a log fire, is well insulated and the log burner is very efficient which keeps the hut very warm, making stays possible all year round. Bed linen provided. It is lit by very good LED lighting powered by a 12 volt battery. Outside there is a double burner gas BBQ and a log pit. There is a small charge of £5 for logs for the fire pit but logs for the wood burner are free of charge. Basic cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery are provided. The hut is in a very quiet spot in a field, which is accessible by most cars unless it is very wet in which case we ask you to park on the hard standing in front of our house and walk,it's not very far.
The thatched village of Milton Abbas is half a mile away has a good pub,The Hambro Arms.At the far end of the village is the very impressive Milton Abbey set in grounds landscaped by Capability Brown.
  • A lovely spot, with great walks nearby, or the opportunity to just chill and look at the view. Cozy inside - feather pillows and duvet a wonderful treat 😊

  • Beautiful location, such a cosy romantic little shepherds hut! So nice to hear the wildlife from the dainty little windows open inside at night and wake up to a lovey view out the door from the bed. Would recommend for a quiet restful holiday/short break. Lovely and warm inside I love the burner such a cosy little pad.

    Clarise2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely location. Peace and quiet great space to just relax and unwind. Great views from front of hut when sitting outside. Fire pit Good in evening . Everything you need is there. Can see the bat's coming out to feed when it starts getting dark

  • Great place to stay. Really comfy with good amenities.

    Andrew2019-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • The Sheppards Hut is an absolutely amazing place to stay! The views are incredible, the hut is so unique and yet has everything you would need for your stay. The shower is better than a lot of showers you find in houses, the bed is super comfy and it has plug sockets to use if you are worried about being away from technology. Couldn't fault our stay, so if you are looking to stay in the area you should definitely consider the Sheppards Hut

Bank House is a beautiful cob and thatch house circa 1780,situated in one of the most picturesque villages in England. There's a good pub, the Hambro Arms, within 3 minutes walk and a great farm shop selling local produce. Milton Abbey is a 10 minute walk through glorious countryside, or you can go further afield to the Jurassic Coast, Blandford and Dorchester. It is a wonderful area for walking and cycling and there's easy access to the many great visitor locations in Dorset.
The suite comprises luxury bedroom with kingsize bed, sitting room with tea making facilities ( there is a daybed in here so we can accommodate a child up to 16 for a small extra charge ), and a luxury bathroom. Free WiFi - reasonable speed.
Milton Abbas is a beautiful historic village with the Abbey dating back to 934. Most of the houses on The Street date to 1780 when the new village of Milton Abbas was built under the direction of Joseph Damer, who was the owner of the Abbey at that time. Whilst a few houses are Victorian most are cob and thatch and present a really attractive and harmonious appearance as you enter the village. There are no street lights which means we have the most fantastic night skies - well worth a look whist walking back from the pub.
  • The small village is rather unique and the house is beautiful inside. Diana is a wonderful host and couldn't do enough to make our stay amazing.

    Mark2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing! The location of Diana’s house is beautiful, like stepping back in time. The suite was stunning and perfect for a quiet night in the countryside. Diana was really friendly and offered brilliant advice on local areas and things to do. I would have no problem recommending Diana’s place to anyone and would gladly stay again.

    Paul2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • An all-round good choice for the overbought stay we were looking for on our way from Devon to East Sussex. Milton Abbas is stunning. Diana was super-welcoming. Breakfast unbeatable Bed comfortable. What more does anyone want?

    Alison2019-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • Due to a booking overlap, Diana helped us arrange our stay with Noreen, just on the opposite side of the road. Milton Abbas is stunningly out of time and we loved our stay there and the really beautiful and atmospheric house. Both Diana and Noreen have been wonderful hosts. Simonetta and Marco

  • Such an amazing setting. Thank you for sharing your stunning house!

    Blossom2019-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • A very warm welcome from Diana. A beautiful house with a very comfortable bed and a delicious breakfast with home cooked bread and eggs from Diana's hens. Diana gave us plenty of interesting information about her house and the area. We hope to return to explore further and to enjoy Diana's hospitality again.

Honeysuckle Lodge is a unique blend of luxury mixed with the classic beach/shepherds hut design. It combines spa like experiences such as drenching shower and a hot tub surrounded by living walls; with home from home comforts such as cosy duvets, soft pillows and HD TV with Amazon Fire stick. Located on the site of an 18th Century Grade II listed building, in a small village with a fantastic local pub and village shop. Guests self check-in and out.
The lodge although small boasts a brand new en-suit with drenching rain shower head, stone sink and exposed copper piping. There is a double bed with cosy bedding, tea making facilities, Nespresso coffee machine and light continental breakfast. The Lodge also has use of a hot tub located just outside the lodge, surrounded by a living wall which gives privacy and a unique jungle feel. The Lodge is built in the grounds of our circa 18th Century Grade II Listed Thatched house which is located next to the A354 - this does mean that you will hear cars and often farm machinery passing during the day and sometimes at night.
The Royal Oak pub is the best local you could ask for. Serving fantastic food and drink and run by very friendly people. There is also a village shop too. All of which is within 2-3 minutes walk.
  • Lovely stay, very clean and friendly.

  • Incredible little lodge, perfect for a relaxing couples’ break. Built by the hosts, it’s clear that a lot of thought went into the experience of their guests. If you’re happy to drive for 20 minutes in any direction then there are endless options for day trips. The local pub was a great recommendation and just a short walk from the accommodation. To all future guests - kick back and enjoy!

    Sam2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely lovely little Airbnb! The decor is so cosy and Jeremy and Chloe have done a wonderful job creating this little oasis. The hot tub is a thankful retreat after a long walk in the rain. Milborne is a delightful town, free from masses of tourists, and full of history and poetic scenery. Highly recommend visiting nearby Milton Abbey and Durdle Door. One note- there isn’t really a place to eat inside the bnb, but if you aren’t opposed to bed snacks then you’ll have a grand time!

    Lillith2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much! Jeremy was the perfect host and we couldn’t have asked for a better night away. The lodge is amazing, so well equipped and the decor is modern and stylish, with lovely little touches everywhere! We really appreciated the wine, milk and orange juice in the fridge too. If you’re staying on a Sunday be sure to try the fantastic carvery at The Royal Oak pub just a stones throw away from the lodge. Overall we had a wonderful time and will definitely be back 5*

Situated in the historic village of Milton Abbas, Dorset, the Engine Room originally housed the village fire engines . It has been lovingly converted into a hideaway for two. Milton Abbas is one of the most beautiful villages in the South-West. Nestled in a valley, the single street is lined with near-identical thatched cottages. The Engine Room is private and self-contained with your own entrance, courtyard garden and drive-way. It features a separate bedroom & a handmade kitchen area.
The Engine Room is a beautifully furnished self-contained apartment in the historic village of Milton Abbas, Dorset. Originally built to house the engines for the village fire station, The Engine Room has been lovingly converted into a cosy rural apartment and is situated beside our old thatched cottage. Milton Abbas is one of the most beautiful villages in the South-West. Nestled in a valley surrounded by woodland and walking trails, the single street is lined with near-identical cob thatched cottages. There is a village pub, tearooms and post office and Milton Abbey is just down the road. The Engine Room itself comprises a bedroom; a fully equipped handmade oak kitchen area; living room with a television, sofa, oak table and chairs; and bathroom with a large shower, fluffy towels and selection of toiletries. There is also a small private courtyard with table and chairs where you can enjoy a morning coffee in the sunshine or a glass of wine or two in the evenings! There is a lot of attention to detail within the Engine Room: classic English tea-cups for afternoon tea, stained glass windows and coat-hooks handmade from vintage shoe stretchers. I have decorated the apartment to a high-spec mixing traditional country interior with a modern, quirky twist. The Engine Room comes well equipped including: television, wifi internet, luxury walk-in shower, all bedding and towels. The Kitchen has a hob, fridge, oven, kettle and toaster and there are plenty of plates ,cups, and cooking utensils. The Engine Room is fully self contained with its own drive-way for off road parking, entrance and private courtyard garden. The whole apartment is yours to enjoy!
Milton Abbas is a beautiful historic village in Dorset, England. The village is famous for its 36 chocolate box-style, whitewashed thatch and cob cottages that line the single winding street. Milton Abbas is set in a valley which is surrounded by woodland and is perfect for country walks. Many cyclists also enjoy the area. At the bottom of the village is a pathway known as Monk’s Path which leads to Milton Abbey, a stunning abbey with landscaping designed by Capability Brown, which is open to visitors. Nestled in the woods by the Abbey is St Catherine Chapel with a beautiful view point looking down at Milton Abbey, across the fields and down the grass steps. The village was commissioned in 1780 by Joseph Damer and originally had a bakers, blacksmith, brewery and a fire house, of which The Engine Room is part of and was where the fire engines were originally kept. There is plenty to do nearby. The village pub (The Hambro Arms) is a short stroll up the village. It serves both lunchtime and evening meals including Sunday roast. In the summer months you can sit outside with your drink and admire the view down the village. There is a small post office/shop for essentials, confectionary and postcards. There is also a lake at the bottom of the village in which you can pay to fish, as well as a golf course at Milton Abbey. There are many surrounding villages with a selection of great pubs. Dorchester, a small county town, is nearby and home to author Thomas Hardy. You are also a short drive away from both the Jurassic Coast and Sandbanks beach.
  • The Engine room is perfect for anyone exploring Dorset. It is next to Sharons house however, you have your own privacy and courtyard. Inside you have an extremely well equipped kitchen, good size shower and bedroom. We visited during storm Dennis and were worried we would be cold but, the engine room has 3 radiators and Sharon provided extra blankets. We were nice and cosy, the weather didn’t stop us either! we drove 30 minutes to Monkey World and Durdle door. We enjoyed a delicious roast dinner in the pub at the end of the road. Milton Abbas is beautiful , it is extremely picturesque. We also drove to Weymouth which took us 30 minutes. I am looking to visit again in the summer! Thank you for a lovely stay.

    Debra2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little hideaway as the listing says! Stayed for a long weekend with our little one, plenty of space for travel cot and high chair (nb not provided) and great courtyard to enjoy in the sunshine. Provided with loads of information about local area, house came with all the amenities you could need, check in and out was easy and felt very homely. Really nice village and pub close by (good food too!). Thanks for our lovely holiday!

    Stuart2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Tiny but very well planned. Extremely comfortable with enough cupboard and drawers for our 4 day stay. Such a pretty and interesting village with excellent tea rooms and pub.

    Jill2019-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful location, very peaceful, stunning scenery, very friendly locals and great host. Very comfortable bed, cozy living space and privacy. The village is stunning with wonderful local walks around the lake and the Milford Abbey. Hambro Arms just up the road does great food including take away and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Handy to have M and S food hall in Blandford Forum. Coast an easy drive (30 mins) but so much to explore locally. Sharon was a great host, recommended some lovely walks and made it a lovely trip! Highly recommend The Engine Room and Milton Abbas.

Wyvern Cottage is a cosy, spacious cottage in the heart of beautiful North Dorset. Winterborne Stickland is a short drive away from Blandford Forum, a small Georgian market town. It is perfectly placed to explore the Blackmore Vale, the spectacular Dorset coastline, Salisbury, Bournemouth, Southampton and Bath. On the doorstep, there are extensive, rural, dog-friendly, walking opportunities . The cottage has a large, private garden and the popular village pub is about 50 metres up the road.
You will have our cottage to yourselves for the duration of your stay. There is a large inglenook feature in the living room- a cosy focal point, especially when the candles are lit on a cold, winter’s day. The cottage is 350 years old and has oodles of charm and character but also has extremely modern and efficient central heating and piping hot water! There is a fully equipped kitchen but there are many excellent pubs in the locality that offer excellent menus.
Wyvern Cottage is located in an area of oustanding natural beauty. The village of Winterborne Stickland is well off the beaten track so, at this time of year your nights will be filled with the scents and sounds of log fires and the vision of clear, star-filled skies.

  • Winter weekend at the cottage. Lovely visits to Swanage and Lulworth Cove. Delicious Nepalse meal at the Gurkha place that Anna recommended. All was great. Couldn't get the shower to run hot but may have just been something that we did wrong so all in all a brilliant winter break.

  • Anna was a fantastic host who made the entire process seamless. She left us crossaints for breakfast, suggested places to eat and gave us a great recommendation for a taxi company. The cottage was lovely and exactly what we needed.

The Coach House was built in the early 1900's next to the Village Inn for the carriage and horses. It has been delightfully restored to provide self-catering accommodation for 4/5. Whilst looking traditional, with solid wood flooring, exposed beams, and a wooden staircase, it has the benefit of modern technology. The hub of the Coach House is the lounge/kitchen/diner with its cosy log burner, leather sofas, underfloor heating and wall hung flat screen TV.
Dewlish is a small rural village and is perfectly situated for exploring Dorset towns and the Jurassic coast. Attractions near by are Thomas Hardy cottage, Monkey World, the tank museum and Corfe Castle
  • Comfy, cosy, warm.

    Simon2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The coach house is in a really quiet place, but you can drive to,the coast easily. Also, having the pub there is a lovely bonus.

  • A lovely cottage hideaway with a cracking pub next door. Wonderful wood burner, surround sound throughout, and a well equipped kitchen.

  • This is in a great part of the countryside. The house is super cosy and comfortable with everything we needed. Lovely pub next door!

  • A lovely house, a great base for exploring the south coast. The place is nicely rural with empty lanes and farms nearby and a wonderful starlit dark sky.

    Lucy2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • My son and I and our two dogs spent two nights at the Coach House in early January and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The Coach House is well-presented, comfortable and very cosy (especially with the wood-burning stove lit), and provided a perfect spot for exploring the area. Having a friendly and welcoming pub next door was ideal for evening meals and a drink without having to worry about driving. And the pub food was excellent. Roy was quick to respond to emails and to offer helpful advice. All in all, highly recommended.

This beautiful clean double bedroom in a secluded part of a quiet family home, with adjoining toilet, is bright and sunny, with a high ceiling and Portland stone floor. It has double doors opening out onto the large garden; perfect for sitting out in the evening with a glass of wine and looking at the incredible stars. Our early Victorian house is informal and relaxed; I have 2 small friendly dogs 🐕 🐕. We love to meet new people!
Sunny, high ceiling, bright space with double doors which you could leave open all night. Barely any traffic noise, just the sound of bird song. Romantic, relaxing or a place to get away from it all.
This is a picturesque Dorset village with a thatched pub just nearby, serving excellent pub food. There are beautiful country walks straight from the house, through the Blackmore Vale and through woodland; there are also many great cycling routes (we are on the National Cycle Network). In the summer there are plenty of wild swimming spots in rivers nearby, and of course the sea to swim in.
  • Fran was an epic host! Although not around during our stay she left us out breakfast bits, and thoughtful touches such as sweets and even home made sloe gin 👍 always on hand via message too.

    Daniel2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Fran is so friendly and a great host. Straight away you feel welcomed and at home. We went on a nice walk and had dinner in the Hambro which has some great ales. Thanks again!

  • Everything about this stay was excellent! Fran, her sons and dogs were all lovely and super friendly making us feel incredibly welcome during our stay! The room is beautiful in a cosy property and the breakfast was great. Would love to have had more time to explore the area but the pub across the street was great for a drink. Would 100% recommend to other travellers. Thanks Fran!

We’ll be back to stay again soon 🙂 One of the loveliest AirBnB stays yet.....

  • We had a great stay at Fran’s. She prepared a nice breakfast with warm croissants and fruits every morning and in the evening we went to the small pub for dinner. The area is nice to calm down a few days and the room we stayed in was also perfectly cozy with a heating blanket in case we got cold at night.

    Lena2019-11-01T00:00:00Z

Cosy annexe, ideally situated in beautiful Dorset village. Very close to village pub, Milton Arms for great food & beer. So many attractions in this part of Dorset within easy reach: Poole Quay; Wareham; Corfe Castle; Swanage; Lulworth Cove to name but a few.
Private front door leading into open lounge area with kitchen. Kitchen has facility for cooking including microwave; grill & fridge. Large comfy sofa & TV. Bathroom with toilet & shower cubicle. Bedroom with double bed & wardrobe.
Village pub, Milton Arms is 50yds away - please respect our neighbours when coming back late from the pub. There is a village farm shop about a 10 min walk. Please note the pub is closed on Mondays. The nearest town is the Georgian town of Blandford Forum, which hosts a good range of shops, restaurants & pubs.
  • Lovely place to stay with all the amenities you need for a long weekend or week away, nearby to a country pub with fabulous food and a short distance from Gorcombe extreme sports. Dave & Alyson are really friendly, great hosts and very responsive , we arrived to a lovely little welcome hamper full of eggs, butter, bread and cereals. Would definitely stay again!

    Krystyna2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Superb self contained property within easy reach of many many places of interest around the area. For a self contained and unattached annexe the overnight charges are, in my opinion, a bargain compared to many other similar air bnb properties of similar amenities and description. The unexpected touches of milk, tea, coffee, butter, bread and eggs were the icing on the cake. Loved every minute of our stay.

    John2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • David and Aly were great host, it was a pleasure staying at there place. Really carring. The place is nice and they did a good job with placing the furniture. It has everything you need. Upon arrival they even bought some basics like milk and bread for us. The place is very nice located, with lot’s to do closeby. And there’s a great pub accross the street. The only downside is that internet is not so strong there and because there’s no WiFi, it happens often that you don’t have internet access. For us was not a big deal and actually made that you’re less on your phone.

Milton Abbas is a remarkably picturesque Dorset village situated approximately 25 minutes from the famous Jurassic Coast. A cob and thatch house dating back to around 1780 Bank House sits in half an acre of beautifully landscaped garden offering great views across the village. We are three minutes walk from the excellent pub, The Hambro Arms, and ten minutes from the magnificent Milton Abbey.
  • This place is idyllic! Such a cosy, perfectly sized space to stay in with a delightful little en suite tucked away with it. The house itself is wonderful, and we both enjoyed the presence of inquisitive chickens and lovely Tigger the cat. Diana is a super helpful, friendly host who welcomed us with tea and coffee in her beautiful garden. We both wish we could have stayed longer. Really hope to see you again soon, thank you so much Diana.

  • We had an absolutely wonderful stay in Diana’s beautiful home and she could not have been a more warm and welcoming host. The house itself is beautiful, in a wonderfully quaint English village with a fabulous pub and the walk to Milton Abbey is a must. But it’s the love and genuine care Diana puts into ensuring guests feel welcome and accommodated that make this place a truly magical stay. The breakfast was utterly delicious too. We would highly recommend and cannot thank you enough Diana for your exceptional hospitality x

We're pleased to welcome you to our thatched cottage in a friendly village, in the heart of Dorset. We are in Hardy Country, close to the Jurassic Coast, the Isle of Purbeck and historical county town of Dorchester. In an attached annexe is our guest bedroom with a fabulous high ceiling and exposed timber beams. We hope you like thoughtful touches we've added to make it as restful as possible. Parking is on the driveway directly outside the guest room. Cats live with us in our home.
The guest bedroom in our cottage is light, airy and comfortable. It contains a large wardrobe (with shoe rack inside), a desk with lockable drawers and extra bed drawers to store all your possessions away. The private bathroom is located opposite the bedroom. There's a nice range of hot drinks available in the bedroom to make whenever you like, plenty of fresh towels and bedding. To help you explore Dorset, we have maps, guides and Rich - being a proper local - has some great ideas if you want to explore the lesser known parts of marvellous Dorset. We can cater for all sorts of dietary preferences and like to think our vegetarian and vegan breakfasts are a bit special, including loads of fresh fruit, super tasty bread and Kate's homemade cereals. All served in the kitchen. You can use the fridge in the kitchen to store any of your own food. The guest space in cottage annexe is very much part of our home, and we will share the front entrance and hallway.
Milborne St Andrew is a pretty village on the edge of an AONB. We have a village shop, Post Office, public house and attractive 11th century church. Located in open countryside between the historic Roman town of Dorchester and Georgian Blandford Forum, it's ideally situated to explore Hardy Country, as well as the Jurassic Coast. Visit Lawrence of Arabia's home at Cloud's Hill, Maiden Castle Iron Age Hillfort, Chesil Beach, the Tank Museum, Tolpuddle Martys Museum and Lulworth Cove; to mention but a few of Dorset's delights. The towns and beaches of Bournemouth and Poole are 18 miles away; a pleasant drive of about half an hour.
  • Kate and Rich are wonderful people and extremely welcoming. I was there for all of two days and it felt like home. Kate was on top of everything and went well beyond in every respect. Breakfast was to die for and beyond what I have seen even at the nicest of hotels. I honestly can't say enough nice things about the pair of them. Absolutely fantastic hosts in every regard.

Enjoy rural walks with breath taking views, there is a village pub within walking distance serving delicious home cooked food. Blandford is a 5 minute drive & has several supermarkets & takeaways, Resturants & Bars. Poole & Bournemouth with their beaches are only a 30 - 45 minute drive away. Dorchester Town 30 minutes. The Purbecks are again a 30 - 40 minute drive away & has stunning views & places to visit...Corfe Castle, Swanage, Lulworth but to name a few.
Located in a Village in North Dorset within walking distance to the local Pub & only a short drive to the local Town.
  • We booked the Snugg Hut as a last minute getaway for my wife's birthday. Kirsty, Nick and family were lovely hosts and were friendly and very welcoming. Although we were there on a freezing night, the Snugg Hut lived up to its name and was toasty warm. It was also deceptively spacious, beautifully decorated and had everything we needed while we were there. We also recommend the local village pub, The Crown, which offered a very friendly welcome with extremely good value and high quality beer and food. Overall we'd totally recommend this place and we are planning to return again for a longer stay in the summer so we can have more time to enjoy the beautiful countryside surround this property. One hint for anyone staying in winter is to bring slippers because although the hut is beautifully warm, the floor, because of the nature of property, is quite cold. (This is not a criticism of a fabulous place)

  • Kirsty’s place is the perfect for a cosy getaway. Kirsty was a fantastic host, she was very responsive and accommodating to our arrival time. The Snugg Hut was extremely cosy and warm, despite being December and has all you need for some time away, including tea and coffee. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and had a great nights sleep on the comfy bed. There is also a pub within walking distance which is dog friendly. The Snugg Hut is definitely value for money and a fantastic place to stay and explore the surrounding areas.

A truly classic Old Rectory, built c. 1826 and furnished with antiques, artworks and pretty fabrics - a lovely place for a comfortable and restful stay at any time of year - warm and cosy in winter, with Aga, wood-burners and open fire, yet light and airy in summer when the garden is full of flowers and you can use the outdoor dining space. The house has been modernised - new bathrooms, soft beds made in Somerset and wifi in every room, yet the atmosphere is definitely traditional.
There's plenty of space in the house for guests to sit together or do their own thing in one of the two sitting rooms and the roomy kitchen dining space. There's a porch at the front of the house, with wicker chairs where you can enjoy the morning sun, and a large dining and sitting area facing west, with a barbecue. If you love cooking, this is the house for you - the kitchen is very well equipped. We allow good dogs, and children will love to explore the 4 acres around the house and surrounding valley - there is a renowned riding stable at Higher Houghton. We are close to many historic houses and gardens, Monkey World, the Tank Museum, Milton Abbey, the Isle of Purbeck, Weymouth for sailing, Chesil beach, Lulworth Cove and Portland. Interesting local towns include Dorchester, Shaftesbury and Sherborne and the house is a 30 minute drive from Poole.
The house sits above a small village. Farmland is mainly used for dairy and some arable. The village is lucky to have a fish farm, rearing trout and Arctic char - the only one in the UK to do so. You can buy fish at the gate. Our nearest shopping towns are Blandford Forum and Sturminster Newton with Dorchester only 30 minutes drive away. There are countless footpaths and rides, a pub within walking distance and local shop 10 minutes drive away.
  • Such a wonderful beautiful house in a gorgeous location. Everything catered for. Very well equipped. Everything thought of. Highly recommend!!

  • We had a wonderful stay at Rose’s home over the New Year period. Rose was very welcoming and our stay exceeded all expectations. All rooms are decorated with a lot of taste and great attention to detail, the kitchen is super well equipped and the beds very comfortable. We look forward to returning at the next opportunity.

  • Lovely big Old Rectory in a beautiful part of Dorset - amazing walks straight out of the front door, an extremely well equipped kitchen and big kitchen table, cosy library with fire and very comfortable beds and bathrooms. Lovely place for a big group and Rose was great at giving local tips and responding quickly.

  • This is an absolutely fantastic place to enjoy good food, good wine, and good times with family and friends. Amazing well stocked kitchen to cook for lots of people, plenty of space to sit and plenty of fires to while away the evenings next to. I'd love to live here!

    Simon2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing find and thoroughly recommended for groups of family or friends. The house radiated style from the outside in and was full of spaces large and small to enjoy special times. We loved the fire places in most of the rooms and the fabulous and well equipped kitchen! We would love to return!

    Phoebe2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • From the moment we arrived at the Rectory we all felt at home! From the beautiful gardens (photos don't do them justice!) to the generous accommodation the house was the perfect retreat for a birthday celebration weekend with friends. We had high hopes for the well appointed kitchen, and in reality it surpassed our expectations! Everything you might ever need to prepare a fantastic feast is here! Rose's local recommendations were brilliant, we loved the local farm shop and the walk to the nearby village of Milton Abbas. Many thanks Rose!

Lovely views of the Blackmore Vale (amazing sunsets weather permitting!) Our huts are in a secluded area of the farm. Kingsize bed/twin beds opposite ends with curtains for privacy. Woodburner, hot/cold running water, fridge, hob, microwave, wardrobe, table & chairs. Picnic bench & fire pit outside. Wonderful walks, only 10 minutes on foot to village shop and pub. Great for families. Short walk to luxury wetrooms -underfloor heating, w/m, drier & extra fridge/freezer space. Fishing on farm.
  • We had a great time at Everdene, the walk to the pub is only 5 mins and the hut itself is very cosy! Thanks

    Peter2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We were warm and cosy in our shepherds hut. It had everything we needed to get away from it all. Thanks.

    Terri2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Really enjoyed our stay in Everdene shepherd's hut. Very cosy with the log burner. Nice being out in the countryside. Linda and Clive were very friendly and helpful and dropped off more logs for the log burner. The toilet in the phone box is a nice touch and convenient. Will visit again in the future.

    Joe2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Everdene is a beautifully put together shepherds hut with plenty of space for a small family. We had a wonderful time here, the horses were very friendly and the toilet in a telephone box was a great laugh. The kids loved their beds and the log burner, and I enjoyed the comfort of the big bed and the beautiful decor inside.

  • Loved it! great spot, peaceful.

    Dale2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for two nights, it rained the whole time, but we absolutely loved it. Walked to the pub for lunch in the rain through the fields. The children were in their element with the mud and animals. Back to the Hut for marshmallows on the fire. Will be returning in the summer. Beautiful place. Beautiful views. So very comfortable Thank you.

    Danielle2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • The shepherds hut was wonderful. Very homely and the beds were heavenly... we felt like we were sleeping in the clouds. The animals made our stay, it was lovely waking up to Hester, the horses and rheas! Overall 5* stay. Highly recommend for a girls' weekend away! Thank you Clive & Linda!

    Cloe2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely two night stay in the Everdene shepherds hut. It was very clean and cosy and is located in a beautiful setting. Me and my three friends enjoyed exploring the area.

Attached to my farmhouse but accessed by a separate drive, The Granary exudes charm and offers a peaceful, 'away from it all' feel from the moment you arrive. Its bright and slightly quirky interior leaves you ready to relax and unwind in comfortable and stylish surroundings. This is a real get away, perfect to return to after a busy day exploring the area.
Please be aware of steep paddle stairs from kitchen to bedrooms. Not suitable for elderly, disabled and infirm adults and also young children who are not too steady on their feet.
An area of outstanding natural beauty close to the beautiful jurassic coast.
  • Mary's cottage is really charming and plenty big enough for 4 people. If you have a mobility issue you may find the paddle stairs a challenge, however every thing else in the cottage is spot on.

  • Amazing cottage in the country!

    Lois2019-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • This was a delightful cottage, even though it wasn’t in the centre of the village (about ten minutes’ walk). It was quiet and peaceful, where all you could hear was the sound of sheep and birdsong. Mary thoughtfully left several basic items in the fridge. The steep stairs did not prove to be a major problem, but it was difficult carrying suitcases to and from the bedrooms and going down to the bathroom at night.

    Ian2019-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had really great time at the Granary. The house is nice and clean, with very nice walks around. Mary was very helpful and gave us good advice about local interesting places. Nice and quiet beach is about 30 min drive. Thank you Mary :-)

    Oleg2019-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • This house is super lovely. It’s got everything you need to enjoy your stay. The location was great for us. We wandered into Milton Abbas and had a lovely dinner in the pub and afternoon tea int the tea room.

    Jo2019-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is in a really lovely quiet location, within walking distance of a local pub but away from it all, surrounded by fields. It's equidistant between the Jurasic Coast and East Dorset. There are some beautiful sights to see in Dorset. The cottage is really cosy with a super comfy main bed. I slept really well! The garden is large and I imagine it's great in the summer. Mary provides useful tips on where to visit and provides full information on amenities in the cottage. I'd recommend the cottage for a long weekend or a week. We stayed for five days and it suited us very well. We really looked forward to coming 'home' after a long walk.

  • We had the most magical stay at the beautiful house with deers in front our bedroom windows every day. Surrounded by fields and forest and through the facilities to light a fire in the evenings, Mervyn’s place is perfect to unwind, relax, and to get inspired. We were almost glad it rained so much as we could use it for an excuse to stay. Thank you! Ana and Lucas

  • Oh my goodness what a marvellous stay we had! The tree house is so stunning - it has everything you could possible need for a relaxing weekend away. Mervyn was so great at communicating and was so helpful with any questions we had. Would highly recommend you stay here if you’re in Dorset! Thank you for having us :)

    Em2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here a couple of weeks ago for my husbands 40th birthday. I wanted to stay somewhere a little different and this was it. It was so much nicer than I was expecting and so much bigger. For us we had perfect weather, it was raining all weekend, and we just chilled and played board games and watched films. There is loads of books and board games for you to take advantage off. It was perfect for a weekend getaway from normal life. Mervyn was a wonderful host, always quick to answer any questions. We had a minor problem but it was sorted straight away and it wasn’t the fault of the owners, but it was dealt with professionally and quickly. There’s only 2 things I would change personally: 1) The hot tub was a downfall for us, took too long to heat so didn’t get to use it. I get that it’s eco friendly but wonder if there’s a better option rather than heating with fire? 2)The bedroom has a velux window, wonderful to watch the stars at night, but let’s lots of light in the morning, which some people like, but we personally like our bedroom dark. So I would suggest a blind so that you can choose if you want it bright in the morning or not. These are me being really picky as honestly here’s not a lot to complain about. I would definitely come back again! We loved it. Xxx

    Amy2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place for a break away. Even though the weather was horrendous we had a great time, cooking in the kitchen and playing board games by the roaring fire. Would love to come back in the summer and make use of the poop deck BBQ and get the hot tub fired up

  • If you are considering booking the Treetops Eco Lodge, do! It is a beautiful space - impossible to not switch off and thoroughly relax once you are in. We cant wait to return. Mervyn is a brilliant host and his commitment to guests enjoying their stay is clear to see.

  • The Tree House is wonderful, a really relaxing few days by the log fire in a very cute little village. The bed was incredibly comfortable, I hope I’ll be back again soon.

    Laura2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • You need to book this place !! The excitement mounts as you climb the stairs. Once inside - Wow ! A great comfortable cozy stay awaits you. From the fully fitted kitchen to the wood burner to the massive comfy bed. You will not want to leave ! A hot tub with a cold beer staring at the stars takes some beating. Open the door to the wood from the bedroom and wait for the deer ! Mervyn is the perfect host too, on hand with any problems but very happy to leave us to it. Perfect break and recharge. Highly recommend !

  • A great property, in a beautiful location. The perfect place for a family get together. Lots of space for everyone to be together, as well as be apart! The local pub on The Street is a real gem. And there is a beautiful abbey within easy walking distance. Giles was a great host.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Maltings House. The open floor plan in the sitting/dining room and the kitchen/den areas were ideal for an extended family. As was the rest of the house, the kitchen was lovely and it was well stocked with everything we needed for meal preparation including 2 types of coffee makers (and coffee pods for one of them), salt, pepper, sugar, cooking oil, a spice rack and more. The village of Milton Abbas was beautiful and the Abbey and its grounds spectacular. Dave (the private chef) prepared a first class dinner for us on Friday night, which was one of the highlights of the weekend. If we decide to go to Dorset again for our family gathering we will definitely stay here again.

  • This property is perfect. It’s set in the most beautiful location with everything you could need not too far from you. The local pub is very welcoming and the street the house is situated on is one of the most picturesque settings you could imagine. We went on a brilliant walk around the grounds of the abbey and school and took in all the stunning views. The house was pristine and had every amenity you could possibly need. It’s very spacious and a great property for a nice relaxed get together. The gardens were perfect for the dog to play in. Giles is a fantastic host and this property is worth every penny you spend on it. I could not recommend it more!

  • Giles house is amazing. It is huge, clean, very nicely decorated with everything you need. It is set in the most beautiful street with a gorgeous pub seconds away. There are plenty of lovely walks and views surrounding the house too. Giles was a great host providing us with so much information and he was really helpful answering all questions really quickly. I would not hesitate to recommend this house. A wonderful stay!

  • You will expect an old style house that has been totally modernised inside, but with some original features, ie: wooden beams, old wooden doors, original floor tiles in toilet and utility room. A lovely, well equiped kitchen, including a range style cooker and dishwasher, with a cosy snug, leading to a downstairs double bedroom. The lounge/ dining room is large but cosy, with a log burner. The dining table was enormous! There is also a downstairs toilet and utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer. On the upstairs landing, there is a chair, so you can sit and read, books provided! Master bedroom is of a very generous size and has a gorgeous ensuite. The other 3 bedrooms are of a good size and are tastefully decorated, same as the Master! The house bathroom is a great size with the biggest bath I've ever seen and a great size seperate double shower. Giles has done a fantastic job of bringing this old house back to life! I am definitely recommending this property.

  • What a great place! Sue met us when we arrived and was so friendly and showed us around. The shepherd's hut was clean and super cosy. So many lovely touches made the stay extra special. You really feel you are in the middle of nowhere surrounded by fields and nature. Sue and Paul’s garden is absolutely stunning and worth a walk around. Would recommend staying here and look forward to returning one day. Thank you for a wonderful weekend break!

  • The Shepard’s hut is very comfortable with everything you need. The best thing about this accommodation is it’s location. You really feel you are in the middle of no where, surrounded by fields and nature. At the bottom of the garden there is a viewing bench in line with the horizon perfect for watching the sunset. Sue and Paul’s garden is absolutely stunning and worth a walk around. We loved staying here.

  • What a fantastic place! Paul met us when we arrived and was so friendly and showed us around. The shepherds hut was sparkling clean and so cozy as was the kitchen and bathroom. So many lovely touches made the stay extra special such as homemade jam with a label saying “enjoy and take me home” Perfectly placed to visit the coast or inland (we did both!) or just stay by the hut and admire Sue and Paul’s fantastic garden. Would recommend staying here in a heartbeat and look forward to returning one day. Thank you for a wonderful break !

  • We had a wonderful stay with Noreen. She was a very welcoming and thoughtful host and we would love to stay again when we’re in the area. The room and bathroom were very comfortable and spotlessly clean. A note for other travellers - the photos don’t do the accommodation justice - it’s beautiful!

    Katy2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Super stay, would highly recommend this beautiful cottage and friendly host .

    Ellie2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Noreen was an amazing host - even offering a lift to meet my friends as I was going to a wedding nearby. Would highly recommend a stay here if you are visiting the area, such a lovely place!

    Catherine2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Noreen has thought of everything from water coffee etc in the bedroom to spare toothbrushes in the bathroom!

    Michael2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • The house was lovely. The en suite bedroom is upstairs , slightly separate from the main house, which gives an extra privacy. The bed was very comfortable! Also loved the specious bathroom. The deco of the house is both modern and traditional with some lovely antiques. Very happy that I stayed here. Only wished was longer then just a night! Thank you Noreen!

    Ewa2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Noreen’s cottage (located in the very picturesque village of Milton Abbas and within walking distance from Milton Abbas) is absolutely delightful. The room (which has its own bathroom, with a wonderful drench shower and is in its own private wing of the house) is very tastefully decorated and luxurious. The bed is very comfortable and the room includes tea making facilities and tasty looking biscuits! Noreen provided us with a delicious and plentiful breakfast which we enjoyed eating in the surrounds of the lovely open planned kitchen. Noreen was a wonderful and very accommodating host and we very much enjoyed chatting with her at breakfast. She was able to tell us about the history of Milton Abbas which was most interesting and even suggested some sights for us to see/places for us to visit on our way home. We absolutely loved staying at the cottage and will certainly be back (but for more than one night next time!). On our return trip we hope to visit the very quaint tea rooms directly opposite the cottage. We had intended to visit following our walk around the village and to the Abbey after we checked out but were still too full from Noreen’s yummy breakfast to consume anything. Do not hesitate in booking to stay with Noreen!

    Polly2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • I have stayed at a variety of AirBnbs, but this stands out in quality and care from the delightful and helpful host Noreen, who really welcomed us into her home.

  • We enjoyed two nights in the Coach House, after long blustery walks on the Jurassic coastline (about 40 mins drive away). The photos on the listing do not do the grounds of the property justice - the gardens and surrounding fields are outstanding. We also indulged on Patty’s cooking on one of the evenings - highly recommend! There is also a pub 3 mins away which served decent pub grub. It was our first time exploring Dorset and we can’t wait to come back.

  • Gordon and Patty are excellent hosts and made us feel very welcome. Their home is beautiful and the gardens are a delight to walk around. The accommodation is self contained, very clean, comfortable and well equipped.

  • If you are looking for a truly rural retreat this is the place to come to. The views are magnificent across the Dorset countryside with horses, sheep and cows happily grazing in the fields. Patty is an excellent host, a delight to talk to but not in the least intrusive. She left some lovely touches of fresh eggs from her free range hens, homemade marmalade, bread and milk.

    Deirdre2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing place. Patty and Gordon were great hosts. Fantastic food from Patty ( A Dorset Kitchen). Hope to return.

Fresh and delicious. Had an amazing stay. Can't wait for our next visit. Thank you all so much. Sandie and Shelby

  • The most dreamy escape to the English countryside. We were blown away by the beautiful grounds, the local sights and the cozy carriage house. From the line dried towels to the fresh eggs from the farm, Patty thought of everything! Just what we needed for a relaxing stay away from the city.

  • We enjoyed a fabulous family celebration weekend at Downview Farm....all 16 of us! Lucy had decorated the Christmas tree which gave it an extra cosy feel, especially with the lovely log fire. The layout of the house is really nice, and we made good use of the heated swimming pool. We would definitely like to return in the future - highly recommend!

  • We were 4 families for a half term stay. The indoor pool was great for the 7 kids (Aged 9 to 15), plenty of room for everyone including bedrooms and entertaining space. A large garden was also great for the dogs. Plenty of nice country walks close by. Would recommend.

    Simon2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, lovely quiet area. Supermarket not too far away. Kids just wanted to stay in the pool.

    Jean2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • We’ve just returned from a family stay here and everything from the cakes on arrival to the pool was just perfect. The grounds are beautiful, very suitable for our dog to roam and safe enough for the children to play outside. All rooms were spacious and well kitted especially the kitchen. We enjoyed our stay so much we commented that we could easily live there! We’ll be recommending and hope to return again soon. Thank you Lucy and Matt for being great hosts.

    Emma2019-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • Myself and our party decided on Lucy’s place to celebrate a big family birthday and we weren’t disappointed. The house is set in a beautiful location surrounded by lovely fields and a lovely pub down the road. Our dog had a great time in the garden which is very secure, (he’s a puppy so will find any area to escape). Swimming pool is incredible and attached to the main house, and the hot tub was superb. Xander helped us with the check-in and he was great, very friendly and relaxed. Tea cakes on arrival were delicious too. Thanks so much for the stay, would definitely return again one day!

    Ben2019-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • The house was fab, spacious, clean and very comfortable. Great location to visit local tourist attractions. Good pub in the village. Swimming pool a great size and sharing with the other property works really well. Garden fully enclosed for the dog.
