Best of all worlds! Cozy, yet roomy and amenity-filled "rustic-luxe" retreat on the edge of pristine wilderness. You hear only the rhythm of river rapids, yet you can walk to restaurants, seasonal entertainment and general store. With unobstructed river views from all rooms except baths, this 10-year old cabin is set back from the river, so it's filled with sunlight not dampness. As one of several cabins around a common area, it's private, not isolated. Ready for both relaxing and adventuring!
We welcome people of all backgrounds. This cabin and the entire first floor (including one of the bedrooms and baths) is wheelchair-accessible. Great separation of space for two couples: one bedroom and bath on each floor. The upstairs bedroom has an air conditioner: the rest of the house is cooled by ceiling fans, though it rarely gets hot. Perfect for friend groups, and quiet romantic getaways too. Not well set up for children, and not child-proofed, but we have hosted many families. Please inquire first to be sure it is a good fit if you plan to bring children. Walking distance to restaurants, hiking rails, and outfitters. We've partnered with several local businesses to provide discounts on tours, river rafting, guided fishing, and bicycle outfitting/shuttles for our guests. More information in our guestbook. We also have an air mattress/camping pad to accommodate a 5th guest with prior approval and $40 additional per stay (not per night). Please inquire if interested.
Tiny McKenzie Bridge is the last settlement before you head east over the Cascade Mountains to Central Oregon. It's a very relaxing place on the upper McKenzie, where the river is full of rapids as it descends from the mountain. We are located one mile west of the McKenzie River National Recreation Trail base, as well as many other outdoor recreational activities, including hiking, bicycling, boating, fishing, hot springs, golf, skiing and more. Even though our cabin is very quiet with no road noise (only river song!) you can walk to two restaurants, seasonal live music and outdoor movies, a beer garden and a bar/espresso bar. There is a large guest information book in the cabin with the details, including our favorites.

This classic “little log house” was built in 1927, and was the original living quarters while the main lodge was built. Tucked in the trees near the lodge, the master bedroom has one of the best views of all buildings. While in bed, you can watch the fog roll through the heavily treed Lookout Ridge and, when the windows are open, you can hear the river. A cozy upstairs loft has 2 low queen beds, which look up through the skylights to the stars at night.
1 Bedroom with queen bed and a small loft with 2 additional queen floor beds. Full kitchen downstairs and one shared, full bath. Inviting living room with adequate seating, wood-burning stone fireplace, & forest views. A private patio for quiet dinners and an awesome front porch to sip on cocoa and watch the birds.

Relax. Slow Down. Experience what well designed small spaces feel like while you watch the boats go by and osprey dive for fish. Play all day in the forest, visit hot springs, hike, mountain bike, golf, fish and raft all within a short drive. Salvaged from an old historic cabin, this place has new comforts and old soul. This rental supports sustainability, restoration of the river ecosystem and local jobs. Ask about low season discounts for teachers and non-profits.
The shared living spaces are open and light. You will find a variety of wood building materials throughout the house- some new, some salvaged from the original cabin. You can fish from the lower covered porch (with licenses) - the drift boats seem to have success just up river and down river of the cabin. Reservoir recreation areas and hot springs are approx. 20 minute drive east. Extensive hiking and mountain biking and winter sports are within 30-60 minute drive. You are welcome to sleep out on the deck or on the covered porch or put tents in the covered porch area under the house if that is your preferred way to enjoy the river in the summer. I developed this place as an example of living simply, in small spaces, while being able to comfortably cook and share meals and enjoy the magic of this river valley. Feel good about renting this space: I am continually striving to increase the sustainability of this cabin. I only employ local caretakers and annually invest in more restoration and maintenance along the river. I invest in community based social equality and environmental education in the U.S. and abroad and your financial support of this rental helps provide this work free of charge. I hope you feel the welcoming, positive energy of my family and friends and all the wonderful people who have rented before you!
This cabin was originally part of a small community of cabin rentals. There are 3 other cabins nearby along the river and a few houses across the street/highway. Everyone mostly stays to themselves and enjoys the river.

The gorgeous, 226-foot Proxy Falls is also just a short drive and hike from the cabin! Don't miss out on your opportunity to witness the Tamolitch Pool, only 20 minutes away! The topaz blue color of the water is certain to take your breath away. Other hidden jewels to discover in the Oregon wilderness include the Belknap Hot Springs and the Cougar Hot Springs. Both are within 15 miles of the cabin, and both provide a rejuvenating oasis for anyone who visits. You've hiked, gotten lost in the beauty of mother nature, take a bath in the woods, what else could there possibly be available to do during your stay? Plenty! You can river raft, fish, golf at Tokatee Golf Course, and refuel at some delicious eateries! Some favorite dining spots include Takodas Restaurant serving casual American cuisine, McKenzie Station Espresso for raved-about sandwiches, and Obsidian Grill for fresh, locally sourced food. When you're full and happy, venture back to the cabin for a cozy night in by the fire.

The space The cottages are located near Vida, Oregon. The cottage is picturesquely nestled along the shore of the McKenzie River, and is decorated in a rustic yet elegant style. The cottage was built in the early 1940’s, and has a grace and charm reminiscent of a more gentle era. While we have maintained the 'rustic' touches of that time, we have also incorporated some modern conveniences. Cozy Accommodations The cottage has a fully equipped kitchen, charcoal grill, fireplace in the living room, full bathroom (including tub and shower) and central heat. Beautifully refinished original fir floors. It features windows on the entire river side-affording an unparalleled view of the white water below. French doors open from the living room onto a spacious private deck directly over the water. We invite you to relax and refresh in the cool, green Willamette National Forest-and even throw in your fishing line. If you keep a sharp eye out, you may even see Osprey and Eagles. The one bedroom can sleep up to 6 people comfortably, with a king bed in the bedroom, a queen sleeper sofa in the great room, a queen raised air bed and a twin fold out bed. We include most everything to make your stay convenient and enjoyable—from dishes to linens and towels. If you stay a week, the washer and dryer are available free of charge. If you stay more than 3 nights, you have a new full-sized washer and dryer to use too!
The Blue Heaven River Cabin (#1) is picturesquely nestled along the white water of the McKenzie River, and is decorated in a rustic yet elegant style. Cozy and romantic with a wood burning fireplace with the modern conveniences of home. Jeff's romantic cabin is located in Vida, Oregon, United States. By the way, this is the SAME cabin listed on AIRBNB the last 3 years...I just made a new listing ( and lost my 5/5 star reiviews in the process!) The cozy cabin is located right on the river surrounded by forest. There is a 4 acre meadow across the street that is available for your enjoyment. Terwilliger Hot Springs (Also known as Cougar Hot Springs) is one of those places that you hate to tell others about. You like it so much that you want to keep it a secret from the rest of the world. Simply put, this is a magical spot hidden within this super-natural forest. (I say supernatural not because it is un-natural, but it is the pinnacle of what we would imagine a pristine forest to be. It is that lush forest that we might see on an exotic movie set. Terwilliger Hot Springs are a fantastic place to soak away anxiety and stress that you may have brought with you from the city. It is also a great place to relax after a long hike, mountain bike ride or a day of skiing at Hoodoo. The hot springs emerge from a small cave (you can climb into it) and flows out into 5 cascading pools. As the water flows down into the lower pools the temperature gets a little cooler. Hours: Open year round from dawn to dusk. Directions: As you pass the reservoir on your left take a moment to enjoy the sweeping views. You should see a small shack/kiosk on the right and a parking area on the left. Terwilliger Hot Springs is about 15 minutes from the cottage. Park in the lot and walk on the path to the kiosk. There is a $6 per person day use fee. Pay the fee at the kiosk. There is usually an attendant there, if not pay anyway. (The fees help maintain the hot springs and the fines for not paying are steep.) You’ll continue to walk through the forest for about a 1/4 mile. (No worries – the path is well worn and easy to follow.) Day Use Fee: $6 per person cash or check. Other Hot Springs *For nice hot springs experience without fear of encountering naked people visit Belknap Hot Springs. It is not far away, it is further east up Hwy 126 between McKenzie Bridge and the Ranger Station. Day use fee $10-15. Hot springs are piped into a swimming pool. Indoor changing rooms. HooDoo Ski Bowl: Great family friendly ski area features a new lodge, groomed trails and lift tickets under $50 Hoodoo Ski Area sits on the summit of Oregon’s Santiam Pass and is Oregon’s most centrally located destination for winter sports enthusiasts. Just 45 minutes from the cottage, Hoodoo Ski Area offers more than 800 acres of terrain, 34 runs, five lifts and one of the largest tubing parks in the West. Founded in 1938, Hoodoo is Central Oregon’s original ski area and your destination for family-friendly fun in your backyard! The ski slopes are on a big, rounded butte, with lots of wide open terrain. So whether you prefer the deep and challenging powder of Hoodoo’s backside or the finely groomed runs of the front side, the majesty of Hoodoo’s location and fun of Hoodoo’s night skiing will bring you back again and again. McKenzie River Waterfall Loop Trail Sahalie Falls and Koosah Falls in one awesome hiking experience. Length: 3 miles Elevation: Trail is at 2800 ft. elevation. Season: Spring to Fall Usage: Heavy Difficulty: Moderate Water: Potable water available at Ice Cap Campground. How to get there: From the cottage take Highway 126 east approximately 32 miles to the parking areas of Sahalie Falls and Koosah Falls Viewpoints. Trail Description: This trail is part of the McKenzie River National Recreation Trail. It follows the McKenzie River as it flows over two spectacular waterfalls and cascades into whitewater. Other Area Waterfalls A vast number of rivers and streams are birthed from the depths of central Oregon’s majestic Cascade Mountains. These many rivers create a dazzling display of water features throughout this chain of volcanic mountains. These water features often are displayed as spectacular waterfalls. Koosah Falls / Sahalie Falls Tamolitch Falls (aka Tamolitch Blue Pool) Proxy Falls Rainbow Falls Tamolitch Falls-Tamolitch Blue Pool Once a majestic waterfall, the McKenzie River has changed course and gone underground a few miles up stream. The river only flows over the falls a few times a year, the rest if the time the water emerges from the rocks underwater in the basin of waterfall pool. Tamolitch Blue Pool - Tamolitch FallsThis is a unique site. While it is rare to see a large waterfall ledge completely dry, the color and composition of the pool is also unique. One of the first things you’ll notice is the color of the water. The topaz blue color of the water is almost iridescent – like a blue anti-freeze. The water is so clear that is seems to be only about 5 ft deep – yet closer inspection will reveal that in many spots its over 30 ft deep. So pure in fact that you’d swear the water wasn’t moving – yet at the end of this glass like pond – a volume of water rushes out as the McKenzie River is reborn. I did this hike for the first time last summer. The photos you see are real. The water is the most amazing color. The waterfall ledge is a favorite for jumping on a hot summer day. (The water is cold and be very careful to check the area for safety first). You can hike over the waterfall ledge and find a trail that leads you down to the side of the pool. This unique place is part of Oregon’s famous McKenzie River Trail. It is on the top half of the trail about 2 miles from the halfway point on the trail. The trail goes right by this interesting feature and is a popular place for hikers and mountain bikers to stop and rest while taking in this unique site. For the golf enthusiast Tokatee Golf Club is nestled in the beautiful McKenzie River Valley with glistening views of the Three Sisters Mountains just a short 10 mile drive east.

Come visit our rustic family cabin just yards away from the famous McKenzie River! If you ever wanted to surround yourself with nature, walk barefoot in the woods and wake up to animals making...well, animal noises, this is it! And it gets better....just a long, shady walk down the road is small town civilization complete with a gas station, convenience store and a highly recommended restaurant. Check out the nearby fun... hot springs, hiking trails, covered bridges and whitewater rafting!
The cabin is rustic with a mish mash of family history. No wifi, no cable tv and limited bars on your phone. There is one bedroom with a queen bed and a futon in the forward room that can sleep 2. A sweet wood stove for ambiance and heat puts the final touches on your cabin experience. The river rushes by just a few yards in front of the cabin but do not access the river from here. There are several areas nearby where there is safe access to the river. Remember NO FIRES outside! This is the forest so please expect foresty things....bugs, dirt, wildlife, plants, all types of good and bad that you would see in a forest setting. Do not take our towels or blankets outside please. There are a few outdoor towels for your use above the washing machine. There are basics to get you started in the kitchen, laundry soap and garbage bags also. There is a market nearby if you need more or specialized items. There is normal electricity and hot water (we're not that rustic) so bring your charging devices. And we have a tv and dvd player too.
This is a regular neighborhood with houses built pretty close together so please be respectful and quiet as you can.

I like to make sure everyone gets checked in OK and I will probably stop by about 5 or 10 minutes after you get checked in to make sure everything is as you anticipated but outside of that, I plan on staying out of your way and letting you enjoy your vacation. Please don't think I've abandoned you in any way. We keep our phone number posted on the door to the office and it routes to my cell phone. I may not answer right away (if I'm off property) but rest assured I will get back to you as soon as I can if there is anything you need. Blue River Oregon has 3 commercial businesses in town: There is the McKenzie River Mountain Resort, Meyer's General Store (liquor beer wine limited grocery and movie rental) and a gas station. About 5 miles up the road there is Blue Sky General Store, Takoda's Restaurant and Rustic Skillet Restaurant. Outside of that we are fairly remote so feel free to relax and enjoy the great outdoors. There is public transit (bus) that travels from Eugene, Oregon to Blue River, Oregon and stops just steps from the McKenzie River Mountain Resort. Pet Fees: We love dogs! Please note there is a $20 per pet, per night, fee for your furry friend. The fee helps offset wear and tear of an animal and the extra cleaning required for pet hair and pet dander.
