Vacation Rentals in Foster Hall

Just booked in Foster Hall

Enjoy a beautiful house of spectacular sea views, surrounded by nature, with an open plan, loft and decks. Located between the beaches of Bathsheba and Martin's Bay in a non residential/touristy area. This area has more of a local village flavour.
Beautiful design, gorgeous wood and spectacular ocean views
The rural character, the monkeys, proximity to rugged beaches. Located above the village of Foster Hall, and below a farm. Close to Bathsheba beach and to amazing food in Martin's Bay and Tent Bay. A place to just get away and relax.
  • We had a nice time at the Talking Trees spot – the house was clean and the views were amazing. We had to find our own way there, which was difficult but Ashley was very welcoming once we arrived. The house was all open-air which led to a lot of bugs, but not too much can be done about that. If you truly want to get away, this is the place for you!

  • We stayed at Angie's place for 6 weeks in total. The East side of the island is much quieter and allows you access to so much more of Barbados. The people on the farm at the back of the house were fantastic and we felt very safe despite the flat's remoteness. You definitely need a car - every now and then we would go for a walk in the evening and the local people were so friendly. We really enjoyed our stay.

  • Talking Trees is certainly "glamping" at it's best! The property is nestled on a hill, surrounded by greenery and picturesque scenes of the island landscape. It is a true escape from the daily grind. From the amazing views of Barbados to the unique interior design, this property was perfect for my "end of year retreat". You are "one with nature" as the sounds of birds, monkeys and even the adjacent farm's pigs, joyfully greet you each morning. Angie was traveling during my stay, but she was always in contact via Airbnb to answer questions and provide insight. She was very affable and collaborative during a minor misunderstanding regarding the jeep rental (highly recommended since the house is remote).

  • It was a wonderful home. The decor was lovely and the views were beautiful. We hope in the future to spend time at Talking Trees during our holidays in Barbados.

  • We spent 8 days at talking trees on our honeymoon, and we had such a wonderful time!! Angie was a great host and very quick with communication, despite being out of the country during our stay. She also had a great little welcome binder of info about the house and the area there for us upon our arrival. Definitely off the beaten path! We really loved being on the quieter east coast and went down to bathsheba beach almost every night. The view from both decks were beautiful! We also got a kick out of watching the family of monkeys that lived in the trees. :) Many lizards and birds came into the house when we had the doors and windows open, so be prepared to embrace nature! Haha. You absolutely need to rent a car, and we strongly recommend renting Angie's! She had a friend's son and husband meet us right at the airport with her vehicle and they drove ahead of us the whole way back to the house so we wouldn't get lost! Such a lifesaver as its a little confusing to get around (also download the offline (Hidden by Airbnb) map of barbados!!! It saved us!) Lastly, if you're a light sleeper, I recommend bringing some earplugs! The sound of nature can get pretty loud throughout the night and one particular tree frog that sounded just like an alarm clock liked to hang out right outside the window! Haha. Thanks for a great stay, Angie!

  • A unic and personal house with stunning views from balconies on two levels. A true tree top experiance close to the nature. The driveway is very steep and bumpy, we managed with a saloon car but a 4wd is recommended.

  • LOVE Talking Trees, hope to be back soon <3

    Janine Talea2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is the prettiest place I've ever stayed. My boyfriend and I came to Barbados for a birthday trip and we knew we wanted to stay in or close to Bathsheba and the soup bowl. There was no question that this was the perfect place, and the pictures definitely don't do it justice. It's the kind of space you have to see and hear and feel to truly appreciate. We rented a car and I would STRONGLY recommend that to everyone, the maps and signs in Barbados are straight forward and it took us about a day to get the hang of it, but after that we had no problem navigating around the island. The house is right up the hill from Bathsheba and if you surf (and even if you don't) this is the perfect place to be; world class waves, great local food, cute rum shacks and an all around laid-back vibe that you can't find on the west coast (at least we couldn't find it on the west coast). When we arrived we were greeted by Petra and Yanique, two of the nicest people on the planet, Petra lives in the downstairs apartment and helped us all week with random questions or directions. Yanique gave us some great advice on places we should check out around the island and things we should do. They also had a cute welcome basket for us and they stocked the fridge with juices, milk and fresh eggs from the farm up the hill. The kitchen itself is fully stocked with pots and pans and anything you'd need to cook a gourmet meal. The area is very safe, there's not any late-night-life but the apres-surf scene is prevalent, with locals and travelers hanging out at the little rum bars until sundown after a long day in the water. The landscape is breathtaking and the views from both balconies alone make it the perfect vacation dwelling, but the obvious love and care that have been put into the space is what makes it really special. When we come back to Barbados we wouldn't think of staying anywhere else.

Talking Trees Apartment is a cozy studio located in Foster Hall St. John. Close to Bathsheba (surfing), Atlantis Hotel (good coffee) and Martin's Bay (good food). You’ll love my apartment because its cute, with lovely ambiance, surrounded by vegetation and outdoor space (great for storing surf boards). Suitable for couples and solo adventurers who want to get off the beaten path.
It´s a simple studio apartment, with a large patio. You feel as if you´re outside, while sheltered inside.
Rural...you're surrounded by bush and vegetation and all that ensures, but close to beaches for surfing and soaking, and nice restaurants both local (Martins bay, Round House) and high end (Atlantis).
  • Great spot on the rugged east side of the island - after coming from the west coast, this location was delightfully unspoiled. We had a chance to hike in this area with some locals which was a fantastic experience. Everything was very clean and there was a great oven which we used a lot. The view was beautiful and we enjoyed watching the surrounding monkeys, lizards and various other wildlife. A truly peaceful experience.

  • Talking trees is a great place to stay. East coast of the island is stunning and although secluded, bus routes to Bridgetown and speighstown are a 5 minute walk away. And Bathsheba and martins bay (for bars and dinner) are a half hour walk away. Angie is lovely and really helpful and efficient. I cannot fault talking trees. Really comfortable and brilliant for a relaxing getaway.

    Frances2017-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect terrace view with very comfortable apartment attached.

    Ela2017-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed spending time on the patio watching the green monkeys and other wildlife. Bathsheba is nearby for food options. It is off the beaten track, which is just what we wanted. Glad we took Angie's advice to hire a 4x4 jeep - it was needed! Angie was very responsive and helpful.

  • Angie exudes everything that is warm, welcoming and hospitable typical of Bajan culture. She is a fantastic host and we are very thankful to her for sharing her home with us. Ryan

  • Talking trees is the perfect place to stay if you want a relaxing place to unwind after long days of surfing or adventuring. It is perfect for surfers and people wanting to explore the island. Once you make a few trips to and from the place, it will not be hard to find as there are many landmarks in any direction. Book your stay and Enjoy !

    Christopher2017-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Nice, quiet apartment in the countryside. The apartment is on a hill overlooking the nearby coast, making it only a short drive down to Bathsheba. Angie is very responsive and easy to communicate with.

  • Excellent place to stay in the east side of Barbados, beautiful, quiet, good vibe, nice view among other... 100% recommended... Angie was very helpful, she provided an excellent documentation about the place, we are satisfied, and happy to stay our vacations in this place.

Seaside Apartment has a spacious bedroom with two twin beds that can be be changed into a kingsize bed; living and dining area; small kitchen with a food cart; and a bathroom with a shower. A third person can sleep on a raised airbed for extra US15 per night. The property is facing Bathsheba Park and the ocean; not far from the Soup Bowl where international surfing competitions are held. This area is safe and quiet and we welcome guests from all backgrounds. NO SUPERMARKET in the area.
It is in walking distance from the Atlantis Hotel where delicious meals are served; Round House Inn, Sam's Garage Grill. Dina's and Seaside Bar. No need to cook. Andromeda Gardens is also in the vicinity. If you need a cook on the premises, one can be provided at your request to cook local foods for USD12 per person.
The area is quiet and safe; a tourist stop. Plenty of surfers especially in the winter season. There is a small Anglican Church where service is held every Sunday at 7.30AM and 9.30AM. People are helpful and friendly. Seaside Bar, nearby, sells the best rum punches on evenings. Coconut water with a dash of rum is also a favourite drink from the vendors.
  • Excellent location and good accommodation in "peaceful" Bathsheba. Gene Marva was very responsive, kind, caring and attentive to our requests. Above all already said, we would like to stress out the absolute LACK of supermarkets in the walkable distance. (This is not meant to be a disadvantage for Gene Marva's place, on the opposite! She provided us with some basic food for breakfast :). However, there are nice restaurants around , some pricey, some not (ask for Garage Grill for some great local food + open until 10pm which is a rarity in the neighborhood.

    Aneta2018-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • Gene was a very helpful host. She told us about restaurants and activities to do in Bathsheba. I came with two friends to Bathsheba to Surf. The house is a ten minute walk to soup bowl. The house is perfect size for two-3 people and includes everything you need to cook and lots of fans. All the neighbors and locals are kind as well. Would recommend her place to all friends coming to Barbados east coast.

    Alex2017-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful host. Thanks so much for the great stay. After hitting the “go” button to rent from Gene Marva on Airbnb, she was nothing but thoughtful and accommodating. She made sure I had a transport to and from the airport. She made last minute arrangements for a van when there where almost no cars available during the peak time that I was in Barbados. The refrigerator even had a few goodies ready for me. I really liked that the apartment is just across the street from the beautiful Bajan coastline and two friendly restaurants are within walking distance. Ask for the “Sea Cat” at the Seaside bar. If you're a surfer, you will enjoy the close proximity to Soup Bowls and a host of other breaks. I was able to paddle straight out in front of Marva’s ( only on higher tide) and catch a few waves then drift down to Soup Bowls. After my first session, I got out of the water and a group of locals offered me a beer, rum and a fresh coconut. It was too sweet considering it was snowing back where I’m from! Overall, I had a great stay in Barbados and staying at Marva’s allowed me to have a more authentic Bajan experience that I don’t think you will find in other parts of the island. Cheers

    Patrick2018-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location. Right across the street from the park in Bathesba. The place is a homerun. It’s clean, good size, the kitchen has everything you need. 10 second walk out the front door to Parlour and a 5minute walk to Soup Bowl. Definitely would stay there again. Price vs what you get is great. Good for two people. Gene is super nice.

    Justin2018-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely must stay here, the location is amazing, the house is clean, modern, and nice. Literally right across the street is Bathsheba Park/ Ocean. Very quiet, peaceful, and beautiful. So much different than the other side of the island. My suggestion would be to stay on both sides if your going to visit Barbados.

    Stefan2017-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • The spacious apartment had more than everything that we needed, it was a pleasure for us spending time in Bathsheba. The apartment is located directly at the sea, so we just walked across the street to enjoy the beach everyday. We rented surfboards from Kevin (the lifeguard and her cousin), the boards were great and he gave us a lot of information about the different spots. We had a wonderful and very precious time there!

    Anna Julia2017-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was great! Really close to the beach and absolutely perfect for surfers. It has everything you need, it is beautiful, clean, spacious and in the best location for surfing in Batsheba. (In front of Parlour, and a short walk to High rock and Soup Bowl) Marva is a really kind person and we felt very welcome when we arrived. We would totally recommend this place.

    Lena2017-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time in Gene Marva's beautiful and cosy apartment. The host was increadibly friendly and hospitable. She organized for us a pick up from the airport. When we arrived we were positively surprised to see beer, juice, water, eggs and milk in the fridge! We were provided any support we needed and felt like visiting a close friend rather than renting an apartment. The barbadian style apartment is cosy, spacious, well furnished and just 2 minutes by foot to the closest beach. We were also pleased with the high speed wi-fi, king-size, comfortable bed and 3 big fens as well as the sound of waves bouncing to the shore nearby. The quality for value is amazing for this place. We didn't even expect it would turn up to be such a lovely, spacious house. Bathseba itself is wildly beautiful with all the palm trees, white-sand beaches, big rocks in the sea and wide, foaming waves. It is very different to crowdy south Barbados, which is beautiful as well but not that peaceful and wild. For the future guests I would strongly recommend: - taking surfing lessons in the famous soup bowl with Kevin - he is a great instructor, just ask the host and she will give you the contact details, - having dinner in the Round House on a little hill near the soup bowl - I still cannot decide what is better - the delicious food or the breathtaking views, - buying food before you arrive to the apartment if you don't have a car as there are no big shops around. The host was super nice to provide us with some food for the first breakfast but it is good to do the shopping before you arrive to Bathseba. Thank you Gene Marva for the perfect holiday stay! We hope we will come again one day! Helena & Radek (Poland)

Experience real island living in Bathsheba. Simple,Rustic and peaceful with a beautiful view of the East coast. Surf at Soup Bowl or relax in the tide pools. Take a hike along the old railroad which is along the coast towards the South of Bathsheba. The house offers 2 bedrooms and a loft. Bedroom 1 has a Queen bed. Bedroom 2 has 2 single beds that can be made up as a king bed. The loft is a big open area that has a king bed AND 2 single beds.
Bathsheba is a very rugged, beautiful and quiet area. True island life. The busier South and West coasts are about a 30 min drive. I do recommend a car rental, but there is also good bus service to this area. Home to the world famous surf spot, Soup Bowl. Check the waves from the balcony.
    Peaceful, quiet, beautiful scenery
  • The perfect house for a surf trip. Everything you need in a kitchen and sleeping arrangements. If you need a car, Melanie will hook you up! Great experience!

    Matt2017-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful house with an outdoor deck with an ocean view. It's beautiful. The rooms are nicely painted and comfortable. The sea breezes keep it cool and comfortable. Melanie is a wonderful host and took very good care of us the entire time we were there. It's a short walk down to Soup Bowl, a surfing beach, and there are 2 wonderful restaurants within walking distance.

    Robin2017-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • I was staying at Melanie's place with my friend and we liked it a lot. The house is large, open space and stylishly furnished and decorated (the style is: the ocean and surfing, of course ;) ). The communication with Melanie was fast and the self check in is handy. We arrived later than anticipated and although Melanie has an assistant who lets you in to show the house, he was only available at certain time. But, the house has been all prepared and lit up, and windows opened, and we still managed to get in on our own and all the other queries have been resolved remotely. The house doesn't need AC at all - there is a good draft with the windows open, so there was no problem with mosquitos and also the air was not too dry like it gets when you use AC. In any case, I spent a lot of time hanging in the hammock on the terrace, with a beautiful view onto the oncoming Soup Bowl waves. We were only 2 of us, but there was a discount in the price so we've got a great value for our stay, where there were not too many places in the East Coast to offer a reasonable, not overinflated price. I definitely recommend Melanie's place, but please bear in mind that when locals ask you where do you stay and you reply: "Orange Sunrise", the next quesiton will undoubtably be: "Are you a surfer?" ;)

    Mark2017-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • Melanie did a great job in making our stay in Barbados a good one.

    Christopher2016-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful time at Orange Sunrise Cottage. Melanie was a fantastic host and we'll definitely be in touch next time we're in Barbados for surfing lessons. Bathsheba is an amazing place to stay - so rustic and rural. It's a good place to get away and escape. There are local buses, but I would suggest a car! Make sure to eat at the Atlantis and Roundhouse and to wade in the tidal pools near the Soup Bowl.

    Claire2016-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome house in an awesome location! If you are looking to surf the epic Soup Bowl then this is the perfect spot to stay. Wake up to the sound of the waves crashing with a view from one of the bedrooms and a huge porch to hang out on.

    Brian2017-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Right opposite soup bowls so can check the surf from the house. When we went there was nothing open locally in the evening and the nearest supermarket is a way away so be prepared. The house is ok but suffers from salt spray so things rust easily. No aircon so fans a must in the evening, a few mosquitos as well. Melanie was very helpful, even suggesting places to surf when the winds picked up. All in all a great place for surfers but not much to do for non-surfers.

    Anthony2017-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Best spot in Bathsheba! The house has everything you need to have an awesome stay. Wake up and check the surf from your window and balcony. Melanie was super helpful and has any information you might need about Barbados and the surf. Such a fun trip!!

Spacious two bedroom apartment located in the breezy country side of Barbados. Prefect for travellers who want to relax and unwind in a tranquil environment in the heart of a peaceful local neighbourhood.
The entire house hosts two separate entry apartments. Available is the spacious, breezy upstairs apartment which can accommodate up to four persons. Each of the two bedroom, along with the main living area, have patios which you can freely enjoy sunsets over the ocean. Bath beach is a 5-7 minute drive from our space and is one of Barbados' most famous and popular beaches. The fishing area of Martins Bay is less than 5 minutes away and is infamous for their Fish and karaoke nights at the Tavern where you can really indulge in many of our cultures. We also have a local mini mart located (driving) 3 minutes away as well as a local bar and restaurant. St John's Parish Church, Codgrington's College, Hackelton's Cliff and Bathsheba Beach are all close by.
  • AMAZING! Apartment is spacious and clean, it had everything we needed. Rachael and her mom were so helpful and went above and beyond! They live very close if we needed anything or had questions. The apartment had a great view and breeze running through all the time. We rented a car and it was a good take off point each day. Good beaches and local food only a 5-10 minute drive away. Would definitely stay here again!!

    Kelly2018-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Rachael and her family welcomed us warmly when we arrived in the parish and showed us to the house, making sure we were happy and comfortable before they left us. The home was lovely and the neighbourhood was very welcoming, the neighbours were friendly and helpful as well when we were having a small issue with our rental car. Rachael and her mother Pat both had a number of great suggestions for a few tourists around the east side of the island as well. The next time I visit Barbados, I plan to stay here again!

    Joshua2018-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • The flat is in a stunning location, with the sea just below the cliffs. It's also very spacious, with good facilities. It was spotlessly clean and Rachael and her mum and brother came to meet me and showed me everything I needed to know. Come prepared with some food as the nearest shop is a 10-minute walk.

    Jonathan2017-12-06T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts were like suuuuuuper friendly, very kind, had always an open ear for us, asking if we need anything, the contact was very fast, even picked us up - the house is in a very quiet area, they had everything we needed, a big kitchen, microwave, oven, washingmachine, a tv with an Apple TV stick (Netflix and amazon not included), mosquito nets at the windows - a perfect house with perfect, friendly and kind hosts ! I would love to stay longer :)

  • Nice place on a great big beach and for me on a better side of the island. Everywhere peace and quiet. The house is comfortable, clear and it looks better than the pictures. The best is the large terrace with amazing sea views. I recommend to all lovers of nature.

    Jacek2017-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • We spent 5 days at Box by Box, and it was the perfect place for us. We never got tired of our long walks on the beach and of watching the waves from the large deck. The house is as it appears in the pictures and it is as described. It is right on a beautiful beach. We saw a few people passing by walking their dogs on the beach everyday, but we had the beach to ourselves most of the time. Sonia left us some groceries and a couple of beers on our first night and also left us a cell phone in case we needed to reach her, she was a great host. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook and we enjoyed everymeal on the deck. We hope to go back next time we need a place to rest and get away from it all.

    David2017-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • Sonia and her beachside house near Cattlewash are both great--well set up, simple, beach house in a lovely location with a host who responded quickly, efficiently and in detail to all our questions and facilitated arrival and departure in very helpful ways. So while i did not have the pleasure of meeting Sonia in person, we communicated well and she made our stay in her house in Barbados quite wonderful. Highly recommended.

    John2017-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • A breathtaking get away for my family . The accommodation is a no-frill, rustic beach home with a fully equipped kitchen for cooking. It was comfortable and spacious for my family of 6 . If you are expecting this beach house to be luxurious this is not the place for you. The area is great for long walks and fresh sea air but not ideal for swimming. It was very calming to sit on the patio and watch and listen to the waves breaking "The waves of the sea help me get back to me" I would definitely stay here again.

    Hanifa2017-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Sonia’s place was an amazing local experience for Barbados. The house it’s simple but you don’t need much, the deck view is amazing and it felt that you are all alone in the beach. We love it.

    Stefania2018-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Box by Box is an amazingly private and rustic getaway. The house is exactly as it appears in the images and as described. It is RIGHT on an incredibly beautiful beach. While too rough and rugged for full-on swimming, it is the most beautiful scene of giant waves to watch all day, especially from the amazing large deck overlooking the beach. The house is extremely private- during the weekdays we would rarely see a single person walking along the beach, but it is also right on East Coast road, so you can conveniently drive to the little superettes around for food and supplies. Due to it's remote location though, I highly recommend having a car. The house itself is very charming and rustic. As with most of the local architecture it is completely open to the elements, so there is a constant breeze flowing through that is incredibly comfortable and relaxing. That does, however, mean that there are lots of bugs at night, and we even caught a cat trying to sneak in our window one night! (At least it wasn't a monkey!) Sonia was a wonderful host- she provided a cellphone so we could contact her with any questions, which we never needed to because she had given us all the info we needed. A few words of advice- you may want to get supplies at the large grocery store near the airport- the little superettes are very limited. Also, for whatever reason we had a really hard time finding sunscreen on the east-coast, so you may want to be sure you have plenty before going out there. Lastly, many of the restaurants only serve lunch unless you make reservations ahead of time. However the kitchen well equipped for basic cooking. All in all, if you are looking for a beautiful, rustic, private getaway on the East Coast of Barbados, then this is the place!

Moira house is a beach house close to the famous surfing spot, soup bowl. Two minutes walk from Cattlewash beach which boasts of the best 'rock pools' at low tide. You’ll love Moira house because of the relaxing atmosphere the breaking waves in the background provides. The wrap around deck which is perfect for sunbathing right at home and the gentle breeze that blows almost non-stop. Moira house is good for couples, solo adventurers, families (with kids), big groups, and furry friends (pets).
House sits approximately 75m off the road and is elevated providing better views of the coastline.
  • House is fully equipped for your needs. Comfortable, clean and located within short walk to beach. Loved hearing the waves. Breezy.

  • Idyllic location for an escape from urban life. Pretty scenery and cool breezes 24/7. I will definitely recommend to anyone and would visit again.

  • We had a lovely, lovely stay at Moira House. It is a bit out the way from everything else, but that is exactly, what we wanted! The house is overlooking ever so lively atlantic ocean. The beach is a short walk away, literally a couple of minutes. There is a shop near by where you can get basic stuff and you will also find a few restaurants around. The house itself is cute with large kitchen with all your cooking utensils, good and clean pans and pots, wine glasses, there is everything. Sitting area is comfortable and the breeze gets right into the house. We were slightly worried about mosquitos, but there were no issues there. Wifi worked perfectly. Ruth was always only a text message away, anything we needed to ask, she got back to us within minutes. Thanks again for a great stay, and we may see you again, some time in the future.

  • Very nice house

    Chris2017-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I spent 6 nights at the Moira house and we had a great stay! The House was clean and very equipped with everything you need. The house is located in what I thought was the most beautiful area of Barbados and the view from the house is absolutely amazing. You can completely open the house and feel the ocean breeze run through it and fall asleep to the sound of the ocean. It’s a 1 min walk to the beach even though it is not recommended to swim on the east side and it is only a half an hour drive to the west side calmer beaches. Ruth was really communicative and gave us great recommendations of things to do around. We definitely recommend that space!

    Angele2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I stayed at Ruth’s for a week over New Years. We had a great time. Shops for groceries and restaurants are all within 5-10 minutes drive. Our favourite local beach place to eat was The Roundhouse. We also went to a place slightly inland called Open Kitchen which was a bit fancier but had some of the best pizza we’ve ever eaten! We did a 6 hour hike along the coast from Ruth’s place to Bath Beach and back, which we would recommend. My partner loved surfing at the Soup Bowl which was a 5 minute drive away. It’s difficult to swim at the beach out front because of the conditions but at low tide there are safe rock pools which we swam in every day. Was really fun. Ruth’s Place is much bigger and brighter than it looks in the pictures. It’s really cool from the breeze and had eveything we needed for the week to cook at home, watch movies on tv some nights and do washing. Would definitely stay again.

This upstairs apartment is tastefully and comfortably finished and boasts high ceilings and amazing views to the north, south, east and west. Situated on a cliff, it is private and tranquil with the sound of waves crashing and a cooling breeze.
The location is off the beaten track, private and beautiful, this comfortable apartment is upstairs in the farmhouse. Up here is breezy with patios off every room to take full advantage of the 360 degree wonderful views.
We are located in a rustic fishing village with lots of friendly faces. As you walk around the neighbourhood you will find at least 3 watering holes that often offer "bajan" goodies such as rum, fish cakes and sweet bread.
  • Prior to this visit I had only stayed on the West and the South Coasts of Barbados, and I really didn't know what to expect of the East Coast. I had been told the water was colder and not as clear blue as the Caribbean sides. Possibly true but the water is a blue that calms the soul. From the moment we arrived at Ocean View, it felt like home. It was a last minute booking and Delia so very kindly made sure we had access for our late night arrival. That night greeted us with a most amazing rain and we easily fell asleep to the ocean waves between rain showers. The house is so close to the coast, the sounds of he waves can be heard from every room and easing any stress you may have arrived with. Delia came by the next morning so that we could meet and also buy some eggs from her chickens (you can see them from the kitchen window hanging with the peacocks and kitties.) If you have dreams of living the Caribbean farm life, this place will give you sweet inspiration. We went down to a local restaurant, Bath beach which were likely walkable but we drove. Both were beautiful beaches and we thoroughly enjoyed a sunset swim in the warm emerald waters of Bath Beach. If you are bringing kids on a vacation, this is the ideal spot! There are horse stables run by her sister right next door and even a tv/dvd set up for movie night. The kitchen is generous and has a window that opens to a little outside counter bar. Each bedroom has access to the side deck with a hammock (with a view of the expansive ocean.) Each morning we woke to the sun rising over the ocean did yoga on the main deck followed by having our coffee and eggs. By midday the water is bright blue and the clouds begin to form preparing for the art of the sunset. Side note, the water is closer than what I thought from the photos. I cannot say enough good things about Delia. She is a kind and bright spirit who leaves a long lasting impression. She was MORE than accomadating and gives her guests any support needed - all while running her produce and egg delivery business. have a feeling that anyone experiencing this place will be drawn to come back. I know we got lucky getting to stay here but I really look forward to being able to stay here again soon! This place nourishes the Soul.

  • Delia was super friendly both before, during.......and after our visit to Ocen View retreat. I inadvertently left some items of clothes behind when we moved to the west coast and she kept in touch and advised when she would be in my west coast area and dropped them off to me!!!!! She offered to pick us up from the airport and was there waiting for us for some time due to long Customs clearance. She took us to the supermarket on the way home which was a great help. Ocen view retreat certainly lives up to it's name!!!! The views of the rugged east Coast and the ocean are to die for. The tranquillity surrounding the house is a very relaxing contrast to my busy life and is indeed a real "retreat" in that sense. The apartment was exactly as advertised ...large and airy. The only down side of our 3 days with Delia.....which had absolutely nothing to do with her, was that we didn't rent a car and the location is very isolated. So my advice is that a car is a MUST. I would recommend Delia's home to anyone and would certainly stay there again!!!

  • If you are looking for a special place to stay in Barbados, this is it! We stayed for a week and had a wonderful vacation. There are lots of places to see on the east coast, so we would highly recommend renting a car. It was also wonderful at the end of the day to lounge on the chairs overlooking the ocean, listening to the waves and feeling the breeze with a cocktail in hand. Having breakfast overlooking the fields with the cows and horses definitely gave it a special touch! Delia was very responsive, kind and offered great tips. We will definitely be back!!

  • By far one of the top three Airbnb's we've been able to experience. Delia was a fantastic host, made us feel welcome, always helping and giving us suggestions. The East coast of Barbados is a beautiful place, quiet with stunning landscapes, great community of people. Delia made it really easy to stay here with a child. A car is a must. Great fresh food and beaches near by. We sat on the balcony on the cliff edge watching the waves all day, sunrise in the morning and in the evening had the pleasure to watch the moon rise over the ocean. With three balconies, all looking over different views (ocean, banana orchard, and country side) it was hard to leave the house. The house exceeded expectations and was better than we could have expected. It would be hard to beat this rental and you couldn't have a better host. The perfect get away.

  • We had an incredible time at Delia'a lovely farm house. The views are spectacular, the sounds of the farm animals and the roaring ocean the perfect things to wake up to. We rented a car for the entire week, which we highly recommend as the location is quite rural. Definitely take her up on the offer for farm fresh eggs! Overall a great experience, with a beautiful, spacious, and clean apartment (great shower in particular, overlooks the farm!). Delia is a great host, let's you have your privacy but there if you need her. If you're looking for something off the beaten path to call home whilst exploring the island, this is the place!

    Spencer2016-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first trip out of the country as a group. We have heard lots of great things about Barbados and wanted to make our venture there. We got a wee bit lost on our way to Delia's but she made sure to come to the rescue! She found us and guided us to her home. Everything was lovely and Delia is very kind and makes sure you are comfortable while giving you space. The views are spectacular and we enjoyed seeing the untouched touristy parts of Barbados. We hope to come and visit again soon!

    Christina2016-12-12T00:00:00Z
  • Delia gave several good recommendations of places to go and things to do. The house was very open and breezy with great views. The mosquito were a little bad, but nothing some bug spray couldn't handle.

    Allison2016-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • Delia is a beautiful spirit. She is kind and generous at the same time. Her apartment is very clean and modern. Lots of space for my 10 month old and 3 year old. She was considerate and even rounded up a playpen, high chair and toys for the children. She entertained my son for hours by letting him help her collect eggs from the hens and feed her resident turkeys, guinea hens, ducks and peacocks. A wonderful learning experience for children. She even invited us to help her decorate the family Christmas tree. Delia is thoughtful and responsive. Our microwave broke and it was replaced the same day. An unbelievable experience from a wonderful host. A car is a must as not many good beaches for swimming around but can be hiked along an old railway trail. Rough water for kids. Closest large grocery store approx. 30 min drive. Great internet access. No need for mosquito nets as situated on a windy part of the island on the 2nd floor so very few bites.

This side of the Caribbean island of Barbados is the most natural side. Here you can enjoy unspoilt beaches, breathtaking views and mingle with locals. Uschi Wetzels, owner and managing director fell in love with Bathsheba and its friendly people, while working on a Barbados travel guide for a German editor. Hammocks strung lazily between coconut palms. Rolling waves of the Atlantic Ocean are breaking against massive limestone boulders. The sound of the sea together with a cooling breeze from the east let you leave the hassle and bustle far behind. Sea-U is a place for those who are looking for a decidedly significant change of pace from a busy life. The main house and the cottages are built in a traditional island style out of wood with large patios. The 10 rooms are decorated with mahogany furniture, louvre window treatments, rattan chairs, locally handcrafted clay lamps and batik art. The room offered here "Studio in Main House" is located on the ground floor of the Main House and has all you need: queen-size bed, kitchenette to prepare cold meals & snacks, ocean view, shared patio, private bathroom, private entry. We have 3 rooms in this category. If it shows booked, please contact us to see if still available. Sea-U's welcoming staff provides knowledgeable information. The atmosphere is relaxed, and guests quickly become friends. Green Globe certified, close to Andromeda Botanical Gardens and world class surfing at Soup Bowl.
Bathsheba is a rural and beautiful village on the east coast and a community of a few thousand souls. There are Chattel Houses, small wooden homes, spread out over coconut tree decorated slopes; not a single three-story-building in the area. Sea-U is located on the southern end of the village called Tent Bay. It is a fishing bay with colourful fishing boats rocking in the azure blue ocean. Visitors can cool down in one of the natural dipping pools at the beach or watch Bathsheba Barbados' best surfing. Surfers can catch the waves at the world famous Soup Bowl - just a brief walk away from us. You can also tour the Andromeda Botanical Gardens and enjoy a nice lunch while you are there. Spending your holiday at Sea-U hotel gives you the opportunity to mingle with locals in our small community.
  • The Sea-U Guest House is a wonderful little hotel. Service is impeccable and the staff is very friendly. We did not really like our room in the first place, so we asked whether we could change the next day. We were moved to a room which really fitted our needs and we strongly appreciated that.

  • SeaU Guest House is the perfect place for those who wish to chill out. In a lovely position overlooking the ocean there is a constant low roar of the waves breaking below. A steep but short walk down to the beach and dramatic coastline where there are a couple of bars. Most guests appear to eat out but choice is very limited on this Coast. There is no nightlife as such. Take a partner!

  • Beautiful guesthouse in idyllic location. Had a delicious breakfast there in both mornings stay, best pancakes ever! Hammocks are seriously relaxing. Only downside would be Batsheba has limited dinner options during the quieter season. REALLY struggled, so ate at the guesthouse one night (nice enough) and a local spot the other night (friendly and cheap!), as zero other options open (Atlantis and roundhouse evenings shut when we were there).

Wake up every morning to spectacular sunrises, and views of the east coast. Take a stroll on the beach or relax on the large accommodating balcony. There are nearby restaurants and "rum shop" bars, where you can sample local cuisine. Public transport is right across the road if you wish to go sight-seeing. You’ll love my place because of the location, the friendly people, and the ambiance. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, families (with kids), big groups, and furry friends (pets).
Beautiful spacious beach house with breathtaking views. The house at Morningside has been there for over 100 years. While some modern upgrades have been made, it still holds the charm of an olden day plantation style house. The bedrooms have wooden burgular bars, which allows you to sleep peacefully with the windows open, allowing the seabreeze in. The property and parking area is fully gated.
The people in Bathsheba are very friendly and will gladly point you in the right direction. There are small "rum shops" in walking distance that sell basic groceries and local food, as well as a public park area perfect for picnics.
  • Kristina's home was perfect for the beach! Right across from the best surf spot in Barbados! Perfect for big groups!

  • Kristina's place is walking distance to the Soup Bowl surf spot. The photos on the site don't do the place justice - it has a wonderful private balcony with a stunning view of the ocean. Kristina was a kind hostess and left some local treats for us to try. Great place to stay for a surf trip.

  • The Atlantis Hotel is truly a hidden gem! It was magical staying here. It was the perfect quiet romantic getaway. You could see the waves of the Atlantic Ocean from your canopy bed. The restaurant attached to the hotel was delicious and more than accommodating. From the Smoked Salmon Breakfast to the NY Strip Streak Dinner, the food was phenomenal! The staff of the Atlantis Hotel were attentive and friendly! The service was superb and everyone that worked there always had a smile on their face. The room was so beautiful! The sounds of the sea and the smell of the sea air were some of my favorite aspects of the hotel. The building that the Atlantis Hotel is in was actually the old railroad station house back when the railroad ran along the ocean coast from (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) . The hotel is decorated in a old British Colonial way, with dark mahogany wide plank floors and white wash walls. Every view from the hotel was breathtaking! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone! I have been to Barbados a few times and never stayed on the East Coast. It was truly an incredible experience and I will definitely be coming back to The Atlantis in the future!!

  • We loved our stay at Andrew's two boutique hotels. We spent 3 nights at Atlantis in Bathsheba, then transferred to Little Good Harbour for 6 nights. Both were excellent and I recommend a mix if you have enough time. Atlantis is on the quiet, rugged, untouched East coast, whereas LGH still in a quieter part of the island, but on the west coast with a nice beach and beautiful sunsets - a more typical Caribbean experience I'd say. The staff at both were excellent, going out of their way to help us, even giving us a lift to the bus when we needed to get there in a hurry. We also had a misunderstanding about the booking type that they dealt with generously. The food at both restaurants was great. I would highly recommend staying at either (or ideally both) of Andrew's places.

In the wild side of the island right in front of the Atlantic Ocean a little piece of paradise to spend a piecefull vacation away from "the world". Two Bedrooms King and Queen, one bathroom, kichen and living room a great patio at two minutes walk from the beach
You get in from the patio after walkway entrance. You have a living room with kitchen, from there you can go to the bedrooms or bathroom. But you will enjoy to live the house outside in the patio and the garden where you can lay in the sun and take a shower outside.
This is the most quiet area of the Island. First of all a safe place. You can walk and in 2 minutes you are at the beach in front of the big wawes of the ocean...and the surfers paradise "The Soup Bowl" in 5 minutes...but in 15 minutes with the car you can reach the beautiful beaches of the west Coast....the Caribbean sea !!!

  • During our stay in Cattlewash, we stayed in two different places. The second place was "Beyond", which was a definite upgrade from our first place. Beyond is situated up on the hill a short walk from the beach. The first thing you notice are the fabulous views from the expansive Lanai. We were lucky enough to have a full moon during our stay which was staged right in front of your ocean view making for bright evenings. The unit feels a bit cramped with 4 people, but the two bedrooms have nice big comfortable beds and the bathroom is clean with a nice big shower with excellent water pressure. The kitchen has all the necessary amenities to cook. The outside has a nice shower that can be used to wash off after swimming in the nearby warm Atlantic Ocean. Our host, Fabio made us feel very welcome by keeping in constant contact to insure that we were all set to occupy the unit. The process was easy. We also had access to a property manager and a housekeeper that insured we had clean linens every other day. One small issue we had was a lack of water for 2 days. There was a problem with the water in the area causing the unit to go dry for a small period of time. When I notified Fabio he made sure that all the necessary steps were taken to help rectify the situation. He even had large water bottles delivered to the unit so that we had clean drinking water. Since we spent most of the time traversing the island during the days, it wasn't a big problem. Sometimes you have to expect the unexpected. We definitely recommend "Beyond" to anyone looking for a great safe and tranquil location to hang out for some time.

  • `Beyond` is a wonderful calm place to relax at Barbados. It´s located on the fascinating eastcoast and a perfect startingpoint for daytrps to the westcoast. The appartement has everyting you need. Really perfect. Fabio is a very mindful host, who took really good care of everyting the whole time even some advises preparing our stay. We will definitly try to bokk `Beyond` next time we will stay at Barbados. It was an unforgettable trip with long lasting memories.

  • "Beyond" was simply beyond all expectations! The most wonderful place to base yourself whilst exploring the amazing and truly beautiful island of Barbados - away from the more touristy west coast. The wild and exposed East coast has to be seen to be believed. For us, the perfect location. Fabio was a fantastic host and saw to our every need. The wonderful Eleanor and Monika looked after us on site and meant our holiday was just that, the most relaxing and energising holiday. I can't recommend staying at Beyond more highly and I can't wait to get back there!

    Georgina2015-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • Fabio communicated every detail in a timely manner during our great week we had in Beyond. The property manager Monika patiently waited on us, and knowledgeably gave us a lot of great information and tips about the Island. The space is adorable, nestled in a great lush tree-lined area, with a beautiful porch that we spent much time on while enjoying the view. The place was organized nicely with everything we needed, even the housekeeper Eleonore came during our short stay to change bed sheets and towels. Really enjoyed our stay and would love to return back soon.

Located on the untouched East coast of Barbados, you can admire the Atlantic ocean and vast jungle, along with all its wildlife, right from the comfort of your own accommodation. Our home boasts big open spaces featuring wooden shutters allowing the place to be lit up by natural sunlight throughout the day. Surrounded by jungle, sit out on the deck and listen to the peaceful sounds of birds and crickets. Just a 10 minute stroll down the hill is the famous surf spot, Soup Bowl.
All hand-built, our home has all you need for a relaxing paradise getaway. The house is mainly made from wood but includes a fully tiled bathroom and hand tiled kitchen sink area. The kitchen features a hand built breakfast bar made from a caucasus tree. The simple bedrooms all have wide opening shutters to keep you cool along with electric fans. Outside on the deck you will have perfect views to watch the monkeys swing from tree to tree. The land is packed full of exotic fruit trees, leaving you with endless supplies of bananas, coconuts and more! You will find Soup Bowl, the famous surf spot, along with a stretch of sandy beaches at the bottom of the village with a few bars along the way.
Bathsheba is a small village, and compared to the rest of the island, it is totally untouched. You can lie on Soup Bowl beach and not be interrupted by the sounds of city life, just the crashing of waves. Dotted along the shore-line of the sea you will find several deep pools that you can submerge yourself into. Local food vendors will provide you with good quality Bajan street food and a whole lot of rum! Or if you fancy more of a sit-down meal, the Roundhouse is a restaurant located at the bottom of the village, offering delicious and traditional food and drinks for a decent price. Sit in during the day and let the sunlight stream in through their shutters, opening up to beach views, whilst small birds fly in and out. We call it 'The Bus that Rocks'. A unique, off grid living, nature lovers dream accommodation. A completely refurbished & restyled genuine Ex-Barbados Transport Board Mercedes bus. It has sleeping for for 4 people & an indoor toilet and washroom with al fresco bamboo shower.
The Eco StayBus, ‘the Bus that Rocks' A unique holiday accommodation apartment. We have obtained a huge, redundant ex Barbados Transport Board Mercedes bus. Completely refurbished and restyled as a Reggae Bus – we call it ‘The Bus that Rocks'. It has sleeping for four people (a queen size and two single beds) a kitchen with gas burners and ice box, a dinette to seat four people and a bathroom (a toilet and wash hand basin. ) The al-fresco shower is encased in local bamboo and located on the rear deck. Al fresco eating too, with rattan table and chairs on the deck - additional deck chairs as well! The wood deck runs the length of the bus and its width at the rear. On the outside of the bus is a barbeque grill with tools also a fire pit (if you like bonfires). All electricity supplied to our bus is solar and includes LED lighting and a music sound system. Wi-Fi Internet is available to those who wish to use it. So now you can live in a truly carbon neutral environment and give back to Mother Nature. The "Good Life" too. The bus is nestled under coconut trees and a massive bearded fig tree (after which Barbados got its name), has its own tropical garden and private road access; yet it is within shouting distance of the main Ecolodge house (us). The view is of the Atlantic Ocean to the east and you will swear you can see clean across to West Africa and with stunning red and orange sunrises. If you like nature, you can walk for miles undisturbed and spot much local wildlife (the Barbados Green Monkeys, mongoose, a myriad of tropical birds – you may even spot tiny, whistling tree frogs). The silence here is only broken by the sound of these marvelous little creatures together with the amazingly restful sound of crickets. If you prefer the high life, you are within 20 minutes of any of the beaches, restaurants, nightclubs and up market shops of which the Island abounds. We are happy to leave you to enjoy yourselves yet equally happy to advise you on other pursuits, best restaurants, car rental etc (the later is highly recommended). Due the lands terrain, steep and rocky in areas, this listing is not suitable for children under 10 years old.
Welcome to the Eco StayBus Experience! Some twelve years ago now we built a fully self-reliant octagonal house (from hardwood taken from sustainable forests in Guyana) on a fabulous 21 acre tropical forest site in ‘De heart of Barbados'. This region, known as the Scotland District, is also home to many of Barbados's natural attractions: the famous Harrison's Cave, The Flower Forest, Welshman Hall Gully, Orchid World , the fabulous Hunte's Gardens and many beautiful old sugar plantation houses. Ecolodge and the Eco StayBus, known to many as ‘an island within an Island' while off the beaten track is far from isolated; being just a 30 minute walk to the incredibly gorgeous white sand beaches of Bathsheba and Cattlewash (world renown surfing beaches) and only a 15 minute drive from the Platinum coast ( Barbados's novo-rich West coast).
  • The stay in the Eco bus was fantastic a paradise hidden within a paradise things dreams are made of perfect for our honeymoon 3 nights away from it all and a great place to discover the untouched part of Barbados. The bus was very clean and tidy with everything you need on board I'm going to miss sitting outside on the decking looking at the local wildlife its defiantly a place i will remember and hopefully return to one day. The hosts Graham and Andrea are so welcoming and friendly you feel like family as soon as you meet them we was welcomed into there tree house which they live in all off grid for a drink and a chat on our first night nothing is too much trouble for them so that the stay is a happy one

  • We had such an amazing stay in the beautiful reggae bus. It is perfect and has everything you could need for a lovely relaxing stay on this most beautiful island. Situated in a lush valley of natural vegetation, this is one of the few places where one can feel as though one is off the beaten track and far from the normal tourist beat, while still being centrally located to enjoy the many tourist attractions and gorgeous tropical beaches the island has to offer. A rental car is definitely a must when staying here, and a good set of map-reading skills, patience and a sense of humor will go along way when navigating your way around the narrow winding roads on the island. The hosts, Graham and Andrea, are very friendly, accommodating and helpful, allowing you as much interaction or privacy as you desire. If you are lucky they will invite you up to their octagonal Eco-house for morning coffee and enjoyable and stimulating conversation set in the most beautiful and relaxing surroundings imaginable.

  • Imagine a place -Where your away from the tourist crowd, but still close enough to be at the beach in 20 only min. -Where you can enjoy your morning coffee on the balcony while looking at monkeys playing in the trees. -Where you will sleep like an angel in an old Bajan bus that has been made into a cozy little home. I could keep going, but I think you should just come and see for yourself. Come and meet Andrea and Graham, that has made all this possible. They are amazing people that will make you feel welcome right away, My friend and I quickly felt like part of their family with morning coffee visits and talks about last days adventures. This was my first stay with Airbnb and it was Perfect! No doubt I will use this again after my experience here in Barbados

  • What a wonderful experience and fun and interesting couple. We loved staying in the Bus that Rocks! First off the bus is really great and has everything you need during your stay but Graham and Andrea really make it a special experience. We loved having coffee with them and trading stories. If you want a special experience in Barbados off the beaten path away from the big resorts then this is a great option. Can't say enough great things about how fun and hospitable Grahame and Andrea make your stay. Be sure to learn to make candles with them and visit the ocean bath pools in Bathsheba!

  • This is a superb place to stay in Barbados and great value for money. We are a family of 5 and the children all loved the experience! The bus was much bigger than we expected and there was lots of storage space for all our stuff! Grahame and Andrea were really helpful and the children loved making their candles with Grahame. The hosts offered us coffee/wine and chat everyday and it was a great way to find out more about the island!

  • Grahame & Andrea are fantastic hosts. The minute we arrived we felt at home in their company. The Eco bus is a delight, quirky, joyful and relaxing. The cool breeze blowing in the windows is a real bonus - we had no need of the fan provided. sIt was a real insight to learn about Grahame & Andrea’s journey to this wonderful part of the island, and an inspiration to see what they have achieved - their lifestyle is to be admired and learned from. The bus is thoughtfully designed throughout and feels very spacious. The kitchen facilities are more than adequate and we were able to prepare and cook our meals with ease. The sound system provided includes a great selection of music to accompany the tree frogs and crickets. The bathroom facilities are sensitively placed at the back of the bus, with an outside shower utilising harvested rainwater. sIt is a short drive to the dramatic and beautiful east coast where you can spend your time picnicking on the beach and become mesmerised by the amazing waves. A car is recommended as the bus is located in a very rural situation. sAccommodation which suits those who aspire to a more sustainable lifestyle is a growing market and a breath of fresh air on an island where luxury hotels and condos are the main choice for visitors. Not everybody can afford to stay in such places, and Grahame & Andrea provide a great alternative that allows guests on a smaller budget to see this beautiful island at it’s best. The bus rocks and so do Grahame & Andrea!

  • We stayed at the bus for about a week. It was a great experience. The bus was exactly what we expected and had everything that we needed. It has a well stocked kitchen and comfortable beds. It is also surprisingly large we did not feel cramped at all with the two of us in it. Listening to the whistling frogs and watching fireflys in the evenings was wonderful. Our hosts Grahame and Andrea were unbelievably kind and thoughtful. We had trouble with our directions and they went above and beyond in helping us find their place. We were greeted with a meal and great conversation. During our stay Grahame very kindly showed us how to make candles. They were such gracious hosts I only have good things to say about them. I would highly recommend renting a car, as the location is somewhat remote. That said though they are only 20 min from the beach. It was a great location to explore the island from. I highly recommend this unique and friendly place to stay!

  • We had an absolutely magical week staying in the bus with Grahame and Andrea, and the rest of the Mellowes Hill community. The bus is much larger than expected and well kitted out - we had everything we needed to cook three meals a day, a couple of different areas to chill out, and a comfy bed. You definitely need a car to explore the area - Hunte's Garden is beautiful and Bathsheba is a great surf spot when it's working, plus the island is so small you can visit every parish easily. We loved spending time, and sharing meals and drinks with Grahame and Andrea, learning about sustainable living, solar energy and candle making, and also with their neighbours Richard and Noami and family, learning about Cob building. We have not felt so at home in an Air BnB as we did in Mellowes Hill and we would definitely return. Thank you all so much for welcoming us into your wonderful community!

Charming, stylish guest house in the village of Bathsheba at the rugged and unspoiled east coast of Barbados. 10 private rooms and apartments in 2 traditional island-style wooden buildings. Contact us if Studio Cottage seems to be booked. We have other units on Airbnb.
The charming guest house is tucked within a lush tropical garden along the seaside slopes of the village of Bathsheba on the east coast. This side of the Caribbean island of Barbados is the most natural side. Here you can enjoy unspoiled beaches, breathtaking views and mingle with locals. Uschi Wetzels, owner and manager and fell in love with Bathsheba and its friendly people, while working on a Barbados travel guide for a German editor. The main house and the cottage are built in a traditional island style out of wood with large patios. The 10 rooms are decorated with mahogany furniture, louver window treatments, rattan chairs, locally handcrafted clay lamps and batik art. The room offered here is "Superior Studio in Cottage" is located on the top floor of the Cottage building and has all you need: king-size bed, kitchenette to prepare cold meals & snacks, ocean view, shared patio with one other room, private bathroom, private entry, A/C.
  • One of the few places where reality exceeded expectations.Pictures doesn't do justice. I spent a few days in the West Coast and southern part , but this was the best place so far, with very reasonable rates. Uschi was very accommodating with my multiple request for change in dates. Ask for a room in the main building next to the reception, at the top floor. Stunning views!

  • I arrived late, past my check in time, for check in when the front desk was already closed for the evening. I felt panicked, however, the lady at the reception made sure to notify a member of the cooking team to show me to my room. The guest house was easy to find using a GPS, there were signs almost everywhere and Sea-U guest house was also on a tourist map. I did not expect the guest house to be so widespread. There is no direct access to the beach as I had assumed. I was told it is great for surfing, however this beach has a lot of garbage and I did not find it enjoyable for relaxing. Any other beach you can find within a 30 minute drive that you may find more enjoyable, you can cover one end of Barbados to the other end in under 30 minutes which makes navigating the island feasible. Breakfast was mentioned in amenities though this was by error, can be reserved at an additional cost on airbnb, therefore, breakfast was taken care of to make up for this. I expected there to be more private green spaces to lounge on this property and for it to be more expansive. It had a patch of green grass with 2 lawn chairs and hammocks on each balcony if not muskoka chairs. I found the price of $183 a night to be a little over the top compared to their rates for other rooms on their property which totalled $89-120 a night, therefore, I wouldn't hesitate to choose another room for a lesser price. I really believed I was getting a more worthwhile suite and was happy to pay the price at the time. This guest house shares a wall with the guest house nextdoor. The wall is paper thin and could hear the entire conversation, each word of the people next door. They were not speaking loud and was thankful they went to bed before 10 pm. I expected a little more privacy with the guest house being a little more isolated from other guests. There were sugar ants that kept crawling along the sink. No other insects were found on the property. I was a little disappointed that Uschi herself was not more available to mingle with guests. I think I walked by her at one point and was not greeted nor did she say hello or acknowledge me.

  • Sea-U was a fantastic choice for a few days stay on the east coast. We certainly could have stayed longer. Service was great, food great and proximity to good surf helped! Highly recommended!

  • The studio was absolutely wonderful, clean and cozy. I really enjoyed my stay at Sea U guesthouse, is a perfect place to stay in Bathsheba and find peace away from the hectic tourism that reigns in Barbados in general. The neighbourhood is very quite, and the town is lovely. Highly recommend staying here!

  • Truly outstanding. A fantastic place to stay. Lying in a hammock, listening to music, drinking beer and rum. What could be better? Great staff, spacious rooms and a good breakfast. Close to the beach with idyllic views over Bathsheba. Many thanks again.

  • The room is exactly as described/pictured online. The property is gorgeous, and the attendants are friendly and helpful. My favorite "feature" of this property is the "honest bar" -- a help-yourself drink station that is automatically charged to your room. Walk in, mix your own drink or grab a couple of sodas, write down you took and your room number, and they take care of the rest. The drink prices by the way are more than reasonable. Cheapest of anywhere on the island.

    Chris2017-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very nice stay. The guesthouse was just as described. There wasn't much to do locally but the buses are very regular, very cheap and very exciting. Uschi was very kind to loan us some change for the bus early on. We had a couple of issues with the room that were unavoidable but the staff were very helpful in solving them. Would be happy to return.
