  • Valeria is an amazing host and the villa is wonderful. We were a family reunion of 17 people and stayed at the villa for one week in late September. The villa has 3 separate apartments that include 9 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. There is a large outdoor table overlooking the valley where we had meals outdoors. We also used the outdoor pool. We arranged meals with Valeria on three occasions and they were excellent! We highly recommend this Airbnb and would love to return. The area around Penna in Taverina has great hilltop towns to visit. Each town is approximately a 30-45 minute drive away. You can visit Orte, Todi, Viterbo, Perugia, Orvieto as quick trips. The villa is also a 1 hour 20 minute drive from the Rome Fiumicino airport. There is also a large Conad grocery store nearby in Orte.

Valeria is the best host we have ever encountered. House, view, cleanliness - everything is gorgeous! And if you have any questions, Valeria will always help you! We highly recommend this place and will definitely return there again!

    Penna in Teverina, Umbria, Italy

If you love the landscapes, the green and open spaces are in the right place. We have 2 acres of woodland and garden. The apertment is perfect for a couple with a child. Outside you will enjoy the greenery, a barbecue, pizza oven and 2 bikes.
Hello, in the Umbrian countryside, surrounded by olive trees, vineyards and fruit trees we offer hospitality in our house. The apartment we offer is a double room + kitchen + bathroom. There is a pullout bed in the kitchen for any third guest or there is a baby bed we can fit in the double room. We offer 2 bikes for rides and 2 acres of land to spend the day in the green. In the vicinity of Giove there are numerous tourist attractions: Park of the Monsters of Bomarzo, Amelia, Orvieto, Lake Bolsena, etc.. The nearest train station is in Attigliano and is 2,3 km away. For those coming by car from the A1 take exit Attiglianoi and the toll house is 1 km away.
You can have nice walks to Giove, Porchiano or other nice villages. There is a country road that helps you to reach nice places ( if you like to walk).
  • Marco & Francesca were very hospitable and nice. We spent a great time in their house, especially like spending time with Marco’s family on Christmas and visit charity dinner in our first day. House is situated between Attigliano and Giove, we were without car, so for us it wasn’t so easy to go to the shop for example, but nature is soo beautiful (and thanks a lot, Marco, for helping us with a luggage). Umbria is very interesting region, so if you have time and a car - it’s a perfect chance to see not so touristic Italy as Rome or Napoli. All in all house is very cozy and there’s everything to live there for a long time, even bonuses such as stove for pizza and barbecue. So, thanks a lot for everything, see you once :)

  • A well positioned and priced accomadation to explore Umbria. Lovely quiet area, but close enough to the Autostrada for easy access from Rome. A cosy spot. The host goes out of his way to greet and communicate with you.

  • This is the absolute perfect example of what AirBnB is all about. The beauty of AirBnB is experiencing a new area like a local. Marco and Francesca's home offers exactly that. You get a beautiful home in an absolutely incredible location, and better yet your hosts have thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable and easy as possible. The kitchen has everything that you could ever need, the local guide books and the map showing all the local must see spots are so helpful, and if anything comes up, they respond within minutes. Marco was out of the country while we were staying here, but still would respond to any questions immediately. Even more amazing, when we needed help with something in the middle of a huge thunderstorm, he turned around and drove all the way over to us right then and there to make sure we were all set, even though we told him we'd be happy to wait til the next day! You absolutely must stay here. Giove is a beautiful town with friendly residents and so many things to do. You're a quick trip to almost anything from here. Whether you're looking to visit surrounding areas or relax with a glass of wine and an incredible view, this spot is perfect. And if you get the chance, don't miss out on a conversation with your hosts! They're awesome!! Thank you so much, Marco and Francesca!!

  • I stayed here for a month for a quiet getaway and with the hopes to see a side of the Italian countryside that might get overlooked by most tourists. Marco and Francesca were incredibly hospitable and responsive right from the confirmation of the booking. They put a lot of attention into the small details that make a place homely and even arranged transport from the train station (with a grocery run en route) to the villa. I would absolutely recommend this to any friends that might ever find themselves in the Umbrian countryside, and I hope to return myself sometime very soon.

  • My girlfriend and I spent a really nice week in this accommodation. Marco is a very pleasant person, always available and attentive to the needs of the guests, he also gave us many useful tips on places to visit and how to get there. The apartment is ideal for those who want to relax in an isolated and quiet place, far from the city, but it is strategically located in relation to the main tourist resorts, almost all reachable in a short time. Overall a really nice experience, to be repeated!

    Stefano2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderfully cool space to stay. We were able to spend three nights in the middle of August in a wonderful holiday. You can park on the property. The beds are great. Bathroom could be a bit more spacious and newer. Marco is a very social person and you immediately get the feeling as if you are family. Recommended.

    Rene2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very nice holiday and relaxing days. Marco was always available for questions and gave us great tips. The two are super nice, very attentive and warm hosts. We will be back definitely.

  • Marco and Francesca are excellent hosts, I had an exceptional 4 weeks stay. There are so many places to visit and the local town Giove is very welcoming to visitors. There is a swimming pool nearby. Restaurants, supermarkets in the local villages. There is a train service to Rome and Florence from Attigliano and is very inexpensive and efficient. The area has amazing villages and scenery I wish I could have stayed longer.

Romantic setting at one hour from Rome, 10 min. from the train station of Orte, 5 min. from the Park of the Monsters of Bomarzo and from the Etruscan Pyramid, at 15 min. from the Terme dei Papi of Viterbo, 20 min. from Civita di Bagnoregio and 30 min. from Orvieto. Set within a castle, with wooden ceilings, it is spread over 4 levels. Independent entry. Max privacy. The castle is forbidden to vehicles, so you can breathe an enchanted and enchanted atmosphere, away from chaos and confusion
The Etruscan Banquet is divided into four levels, including a living room with a built-in kitchen and a large fireplace, a very romantic and suggestive bathroom and a double bedroom on the upper floor, while going downstairs there are two taverns excavated in the strongly suggestive tuff. unique in the genre
Inside the castle there is a tower in the exemplary tower unique in the genre. The medieval village is particularly evocative and enchanted. A few kilometers from the same stands the Etruscan Pyramid immersed in the woods, a particular tuff rock mass site used as a place of worship by the seventh century A.C. it is called "Piramide di Bomarzo" even if it is actually a truncated pyramid, in some ways similar to those of the Maya; a more appropriate name is "pyramidal altar", someone also calls it "sass of the preacher", because it resembles a pulpit. There are also several seats and, on the right side, of the channels that were to be used for the collection of liquids poured during the sacrifices, you can also see several 15 cm deep niches probably destined to accommodate ritual and cult instruments. pyramid is called "Tacchiolo" and like that not far from "Santa Cecilia" is rich in finds and settlements belonging to the Etruscan period but also protohistoric. Along the paths that wind through the surrounding woods you will also come across rupestrian dwellings dug into huge megalithic rocks, altars and places of worship, etruscan cut and an early Christian cemetery. The paths are certainly tortuous, sometimes unmarked and submerged by vegetation , dotted with continuous ups and downs and really steep passages ... but the treasures that hide repay from the efforts necessary to reach them. Returning to the pyramid is likely that before the Etruscans the place had been chosen as "high place" by the civilization of the Rinaldoniani, it in fact it settled right along the watercourses and on cliffs near the rivers, moreover the Rinaldonians used to carve the stones, to make them sepulchres and for astronomical and cult purposes.

Riccardo was very courteous and helpful; the possibility of lighting the fireplace on a cold and rainy day was the best. Place absolutely recommended.

  • The place is perfect to switch off and relax in nature. The accommodation is rustic and equipped with all comforts. We took advantage of the kitchenette and the barbacue. The outdoor area is rich in plants and fruit trees (the figs that Riccardo's mother has collected for us are excellent). There are so many domesticated kittens that roam the property. Riccardo and his mother are genuine people who are very helpful and hospitable. It was a pleasure to be hosted by them.

Base ideale per esplorare e scoprire itinerari turistici, culturali, archeologici, enogastronomici, termali, cicloturistici (e molto altro ancora) in Lazio, Umbria e Toscana. The atmosphere of the house is sunny, expansive, positive and relaxing. I could rest quietly in a tastefully furnished room and have a delicious breakfast based on organic products that Elisabeth grows in her synergistic vegetable garden / orchard. • Casale Hortensiae was absolutely one-of-a-kind! The house is located on a hill in Italy's countryside with stunning views over the Tiber Valley. You can here enjoy stillness accompanied by only the Nature's sounds. It's close to Orte town where you have an excellent train link to all the well known towns and cities such as Firenze, Rome, Arezzo, Perugia, Assisi and many cosy, adorable Medieval towns where the ancient soul still lingers. Andrew what completes the stay is the warm welcoming of hosts Elisabeth and Michele who maintain an excellent policy concerning organic food, no plastic waste, freshly cooked breakfast and meals, briefly they have a big heart for our planet. I definitely highly recommend this place!

  • The description on the site is perfectly centered on the experience of a stay here by Elisabeth: an informal evening, a delicious meal prepared on the spot - vegetables from the garden decorated with petals of wild lawn - as a distant relative from which I missed too much time. Rejuvenating rest, comfortable and clean environment, breakfast surrounded by nature. I hope to come back here soon;)

  • Michele was so helpful with everything. She even picked me up from the train station and then drove me to Orte on the day I departed. The location of the airbnb was perfect—the free breakfast location was very accessible and they were friendly. The view is spectacular and the town is the perfect place for a getaway from bustling city life.

  • One of the best experience ever! ❤️ So cozy and clean full with comfort in an amazing tiny town

    Valentina2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Casa Mario is a nice apartment set inside the rock, on two levels, very clean and welcoming, equipped with everything. Although it was definitely very hot the apartment remained cool and in the bedroom there is a fan in case of need. We stayed three days, during which we visited both Bomarzo and some very enchanting places in the Tuscia area. The old area of Bomarzo (where the house is located) is very pretty, the inside of the walls where the Orsini palace is located is beautiful. Other trips to do are Civita di Bagnoregio and Calcata Vecchia. The famous Sacred Wood (the Park of the Monsters) can be reached on foot, in addition you can hike in the woods and reach very fascinating archaeological areas (we visited the Etruscan Pyramid). A word of advice: park your car only if you have small cars, the violets are very tight.

  • Typical apartment in a pretty little village

    Ben2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Bomarzo is a cool little hill top town with many interesting activities in the area. Ercole's place a perfect base to explore them from. The apartment is clean and very well equipped. There are photos and guides to the area in the living room which were very useful in helping us decide where to go from town. The unusual and memorable Parco dei Mostri is a short drive or walk away. Boating or swimming in Lago di Bolsena is very nice and less than 30-minutes driving. There are shops, groceries, and cafes within walking distance of the apartment, as are the narrow scenic streets around the old Orsini Palace. Ercole provided very clear directions about everything and made check-in and check-out super easy.

  • Ercole was an exceptional host: the house is perfect (and even bigger than it seems from the photos) and the indications provided to find it leave no room for any kind of error. Very clean and well located in the country, it is very close to both the attractions of interest and a restaurant and bar for dinner and a good breakfast. I found myself very well, and the same was for the friends who were with me

  • The apartment is perfect for tours in the area. There is everything you need and Ercole was available for every request and information

  • This is a great air bnb in a lovely and quiet little village. Plenty of space, clean and nicely decorated, this air b&b suited us very well. I love this town for its quiet charm and authenticity. I loved taking a late night walk back from dinner and seeing the town gathered in clumps, here and there, in the cool summer night. Very Charming.

NEW LISTING SPECIAL! 50% off until 5/15/17! Our special rate is $75/night for 1-2 guests, $25 for each additional guest. Palazzina Raffinata, a prestigious, classically-restored 2-BR residence in a grand 16th-century villa, is stylishly furnished with antique and modern furniture. The villa has a private pool and is located in Bassano in Teverina, an ancient Italian hill town with awesome views across the Tiber River valley only an hour from Rome and just minutes from 2 major superhighways.
PALAZZINA RAFFINATA In Italian, Palazzina Raffinata means "refined small palace", and this wonderful vacation home definitely lives up to its name. Palazzina Raffinata is a spacious and prestigious two-floor, two-bedroom residence stylishly furnished with an appealing combination of antique and modern Italian furniture. It consists of: ** Two large bedrooms and two modern bathrooms, sleeping up to four guests ** A spacious double living room ** A library/study/media room ** A unique dining room carved centuries ago into the volcanic bedrock stone (called "peperino") that lies under Bassano and much of northern Lazio ** An impressive chef's kitchen with a wood-burning pizza oven ** A dramatic centuries-old cantina/wine cellar carved deep into the peperino bedrock PALAZZO ANDREUZZI Palazzina Raffinata is one of five luxury vacation residences in Palazzo Andreuzzi, a 16th-century villa in Bassano’s historic borgo - the Italian word for a small medieval village - that dates from the 11th-century. Palazzo Andreuzzi was once the personal residence of Count Andreuzzi, Bassano's most noble citizen of the period and owner of most of the rich agricultural land located on the Tiber River floodplain below the town. During the summer season, Palazzo Andreuzzi's owners and guests have exclusive access to a large private swimming pool providing barbecue facilities and stunning panoramic views of central Italy that stretch across the Tiber River valley and the green hills of Umbria all the way to the Gran Sasso peaks of the Apennine Mountains in Abruzzo almost 60 miles away. In addition to its five luxury vacation residences, Palazzo Andreuzzi hosts Osteria Belvedere, one of the finest gourmet restaurants in central Italy with a 4.9 rating from G (oogle) and a 4.8 rating from TripAdvisor. Osteria Belvedere's creative menu featuring locally-source ingredients is perfectly complemented by the warmth and intimacy of its small but elegant dining room. As a special treat, if you would like to enjoy a quiet professionally-prepared meal at home with your family or when entertaining guests, Simone, Osteria Belvedere's proprietor and chef, will be happy to serve his full menu to you in Palazzina Raffinata's own dining room. Now that's what you call personalized service! Of particular interest to art lovers, immediately next door to Palazzo Andreuzzi is Bassano's other grand villa, the Palazzo Twombly. During the late 20th century, this villa was the summer residence of the famous American artist, Cy Twombly, where he spent three decades creating some of his most important paintings. BASSANO IN TEVERINA Perched high on a forested ridge in the Cimini Mountains, Bassano in Teverina soars above the vast and historic Tiber River Valley. On a clear day, the often snow-capped peaks of the famous Gran Sasso mountains in Abruzzo, more than 60 miles to the east, stand proudly on the horizon. After the sun goes down, brightly-lit medieval hill towns on the Umbrian side of the Tiber seem to float in the night sky like a dozen Italian Brigadoons. Bassano is part of the Italian region known as Tuscia, an extensive part of central Italy between the Tiber River and the Mediterranean Sea. Here, the legendary Etruscan culture reigned supreme for many centuries before finally being conquered by the Romans. Tuscia includes all of Tuscany and most of Umbria and northern Lazio. Tuscany is called Toscana in Italian, which is derived from the Latin word Tuscanus meaning "of the Tusci (Etruscans)". Infused with its own 3,000-year history, Bassano is a destination unto itself. There is much to explore in and around Bassano, by foot, bicycle or car, from its famous Double Tower, a 12th-century tower hidden inside a 16th century tower until it was accidentally rediscovered in 1996, to the beautiful and profoundly spiritual Church of Santa Maria dei Lumi, which hosts a series of musical concerts every summer, to the mysterious Etruscan ruins hidden in the woods and hills surrounding the town. Of particular note is the legendary Lago Vadimone, mentioned 2,000 years ago by Pliny the Younger as a sacred place with floating islands. The Etruscans performed rituals and celebrations on its shores, and the Romans immersed their weapons in its waters to make them invincible. Lago Vadimone is also the site of the last battle between the Etruscans and the Romans where the victorious Romans finally claimed dominion over the Etruscan empire. Lago Vadimone still exists, although it is much smaller now, and it is an enjoyable 3-hour round-trip hike from the front door of Palazzo Andreuzzi. Bassano also offers more than its share of great Italian food and wine. In addition to Osteria Belvedere, there are two other traditional Italian restaurants within walking distance and several dozen more excellent dining options within a 30-minute drive. The Viterbo Province, in which Bassano is situated, is one of Italy's most under-appreciated and under-visited tourist regions. Few know, for instance, that Viterbo, the capitol city of the province and just 20 minutes from Bassano, was the birthplace of Dante or that it is called “The City of the Popes” because for several decades it was the official seat of the Catholic Church, hosting seven successive popes after the Church was driven from Rome in 1243. In northern Lazio you will escape the hordes of tourists and discover real Italy. The Viterbo province contains a vast number of historic, cultural, and natural treasures - including Tarquinia, Bomarzo, Lago Bolsena and Monte Cimino - and some of the finest food and wine in Europe. HISTORY OF BASSANO IN TEVERINA The true origins of Bassano in Teverina are lost in the mists of history, but archaeologists have uncovered evidence of human settlements dating back to the Neolithic age, 8,000 years ago. Bassano appears to be derived from Latin, suggesting that at one time the area was part of a great estate owned by a Roman family named Bassus. The name of Bassano in Teverina appears for the first time in the 11th century. According to the legend, the wealthy Countess Matilda of Canossa, owner of many grand properties in Viterbo, donated Bassano's castle and the town to Pope Gregory VII in 1070. Thereafter, the town was always under the protection of the Church, safe from attacks by the powerful nearby towns, especially Orte. More recently, during the Second World War, Bassano in Teverina was severely damaged by a tremendous explosion on November, 1943, when a German munitions train that was parked at the station below the town blew up with such force that it destroyed many of the roofs and walls of the homes on the eastern side of the town's borgo. The stunned residents were forced to abandon their homes, and that part of the town remained uninhabitable for more than 40 years. In the 1980s, the town began a slow rebirth thanks to a wealthy local businessman, a strong mayor, and an enlightened town council. Since then, more than 30 houses and many public spaces in the borgo have been restored.

  • We had a very pleasant stay in a beautiful house. I absolutely recommend as a base for visiting the Tuscia

    Andrea2018-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • A very nice house, quiet but with a friendly atmosphere where we speak French, Italian, English and certainly other languages by sharing a good breakfast and / or dinner. With a car and Elisabeth's advice, there is plenty to see around while being able to find places that are not overflowing with holidaymakers (even in the middle of August). I recommend for people looking for more than a room to sleep and prefer the atmosphere of a family home to a standardized hotel.

  • The room is located in the large Llandhaus of the family. It is set up for a undressed daughter, her books and toys are in the racks. The bed is good, with clean linen. There is a private bathroom with shower and toilet. The house is absolutely quiet elevated on a hill overlooking the vastness. Around the house is a beautiful garden area with mature trees and a pool. Chairs and chairs to relax are available. We got a tasty veggie dinner with local wine. We liked it. Next time we will stay longer.

3. Piramide Etrusca, Santa Cecilia e Torre di Chia a 15 minuti in auto. 4.
  • (Italian below) Casale Florecer is a green oasis of peace. It is only 2 minutes away from the town of Attigliano. It is embedded in the countryside and at the foot of a hill. The big garden is surrounded by trees that guarantee privacy and shadow. The building has an historical character. We felt very lucky as first guests here. Adelaide is a young, strong and courageous woman with a big dream: giving a second life to the Casale. We stayed in a tower. The big stone walls guarantee an optimal temperature, even in the month of August! The rooms where we are not perfect, but it is this imperfection to give character to the place. It is not a renovated building. It is rather an antique home that people pass by. It was a fantastic experience that I would surely repeat again. . Casale Florecer is an oasis of peace and greenery. The ideal place to rest brain and body, La Chioccia is a nice Cottage that gives great attention to the respect of its natural environment. The place, a typical old Italian country-style house with all modern comforts was once part of a farmhouse and is very close to the medieval town of Penna in Teverina. Stone made, it has tiled floors and ceilings with wooden beams. It offers a warm and refined atmosphere. The family that runs it will be glad to welcome you with friendly care and discretion. The guesthouse overlooks the swimming pool beyond which a valley covered with olive groves and oak woods opens out. You will be able to play ping-pong , swim and ride mountain bikes which are all made available to guests whilst, at a short distance, You can play tennis, ride horses and go for walks through the woods. Pets of all kinds are especially welcome.
  • A lovely, quiet stay in a small, rustic countryside cottage.

  • We spent 10 very pleasant days at Antonella's. The house is comfortable and the pool is really great !!! Our 2 year old son was able to play on the 2 very long first steps. The air conditioning in the room is refreshing and we enjoyed the bathrobes in the bathroom. Thanks to Antonella for the fresh eggs from the chicken coop. Access to Rome by train is easily done in less than an hour.

  • A slice of paradise!! Antonella’s place is beautiful and perfect to spend a few days relaxing in the hills surrounded by olive trees. We stayed with our 2 yo son who loved the pool and playing with Antonella’s granddaughter. We were welcomed like a family and we really enjoyed our stay. Would definitely stay again if we ever go back to Umbria!

  • This place is nothing short of amazing. It is located secluded in very quiet and authentic surroundings. You get your own little house next to Antonella, where there is all that is needed. Antonella brought fresh tomatoes and aubergines to us and was incredibly friendly. Highly recommend this place if you want a quiet and authentic side of Umbria.

  • The apartment is exactly as described, inserted in a beautiful setting, an oasis of peace and tranquility. The swimming pool and the splendid garden complete a perfect picture. Antonella is an impeccable hostess: kind and caring (special mention for her delicious jams). A perfect holiday for me is my family, we will definitely be back!

  • This place is a dream spot. If you are travelling with children, they will love Antonella's. We arrived very late because we were stuck in traffic for several hours, but Antonella was more than happy to meet us and show us around when we arrived. She has fresh fruit and the few necessities we needed for the morning breakfast in the fridge which was so nice after a long trip. The pool was very clean and she is very attentive to all the details you need to make your stay perfect. It was 40 degrees while we were there so the air conditioner in the bedroom was very needed. It worked perfectly and it was COLD (hurray!) We had fresh eggs and vegetables which she shared with us. The boys loved getting these little surprises and it was nice to eat. Just to note - we found it difficult to find at first. We ended up driving into the town because the sat nav took us there, but we asked around and a gracious soul on a bike who spoke enough English to help us Google map our way to the correct location. It is sign posted but because we arrived in the dark it was very easy to miss. The little cottage has everything you need to cook with for a family. Antonella supplied fresh towels and changed the bedding for us weekly (we were there for two weeks). She was more than happy for me to use her washing machine to do the laundry. The outdoor area was wonderful. We spent the evenings drinking wine and playing games under the veranda on the white couches. Honestly- this is a slice of heaven. There are grocery stores 5 minutes away and in the little town there is a GREAT pizzeria where you can get huge pizza's for as little of 5.00. Our boys were over the moon!! The community of people are so very friendly and love children. I honestly cannot recommend this stay enough. It is a truly wonderful Italian experience. Just to note - you can take the train into Rome from Orte which is the town 5 minutes away. There is lots of parking and it is only a forty minute train ride into the centre of Rome (again Antonella helped with train times etc) We also spent one night in Florence so we could go to Pisa the next day. It is a 3 hour drive from Pisa but it was very easy to get to, minus the autostrade which can be a hassle if you end up in the wrong line!!! (that was us!) Antonella helped us sort out the ticket we were charged and in the end we were refunded the amount they charged (A BIG thank you to you Antonella!) All in all this place is brilliant. Please go and be wowed by the wonderful woman and her beautiful home. It truly is a home away from home.

  • We were at the end of a holiday in Italy and Greece and wanted somewhere peaceful for the last few days. It was nice relaxing by the pool and it was a lovely quiet place. Antonella was a great host and we enjoyed the place. Only downside was that the bedroom was very hot so difficult to sleep for the first few hours. If you are looking for a peaceful place away from the city then this is where to go.

  • This is a little slice of heaven! Beautifully rustic accommodation with a pool metres from the door. Relaxing seating area next to the water. Antonella is very welcoming and made our stay delightful! Very quiet spot.

  • 5 stars are really poor for reviewing Claudia's apartment. I felt really at home. Tastefully furnished, full kitchen, functional even in small things. Comfortable sofa but above all the bed. Quiet and relaxing (the chirping of birds in the garden was a pleasant lullaby). Claudia is a very kind girl, available, attentive to customer needs. I will definitely go back there, I really enjoyed it. Super, super, super recommended!
