Vacation rentals with a kayak in Northwest Indiana

Please know I'm biased, as this place is right on Barton Lake, where I spent my formative years in the 60s living in a house barely a mile away. So, I was prepared to be swept away emotionally. The house was on the North end of the lake, a place we on the South end called the "seedy side". In the ensuing 50 years, much has happened on the North end, all to the good unless you're thinking of buying a place there. Alanna went out of her way to make our stay as pleasnat and easy as possible, from giving is the entry code when we'd forgotten it, assistance with manipulating outdoor furniture and showing up with an umbrella for the outdoors table on a sunny day when we were expecting guests. The kitchen was the best stocked of any I've ecountered in a decade of dealing with AirBnBs. All that's missing is access to a boat. There were couple of kayaks (which we did not use), but that not yet erected deck could support a boat guests could use. Already booked for Oct wknd.

The home was absolutely beautiful! Amazing views of the lake. We traveled up for our annual cousin's trip and were not disappointed. The house is so much bigger than what you would think from the photos. Steve was an amazing host and made sure to check in with us throughout the weekend. Definitely recommend, and would be back again. 🙂

Loved our stay! The house was very nice and clean

My family and I were blown away by the house and its surroundings. We were a party of 10 adults attending my nephew's wedding at the Marion Magnolia Farms venue which was about 2 miles away. There was plenty of room, the kitchen was well-stocked with everything we needed to make meals. Except the food, of course. Plenty of bath towels, blankets, etc. Bring bottled water. The backyard setting adjacent to the lake was tranquil and peaceful. The weather was beautiful for October (high 70's). We spent the evening around the fire pit making s'mores. No mosquitoes or flies. Yay!!!!!!! You literally will not want to leave!!!!!!!!!!!! But we had to get back to reality. For 3 days and 2 nights we were able to escape the busyness of everyday living. Thanks Amy for allowing us to have a wonderful mini-vacation/wedding celebration at your AirBnB.

Very easy to get in and out of the house. Great location for west coast activities. Clean space, family had many spaces to hag out. Very comfortable beds and living spaces. Great family rental. Thanks

Our stay at Pam’s was so very nice Comfortable bed. Having washer/dryer Ami’s a plus. The lake view is BEAUTIFUL! Pam made everything easy and communicated quickly and well. We will be back. Did I mention, the view was Great?!

Came with another couple of friends for the weekend, this was a very nice, relaxing place to come back to and cook nice meals after going out to the local nature preserves.

Had a great week here! Matches the description! It was rainy while we were there so we didn’t get to utilize the outdoor activities, but stayed busy with the indoor activities! Host was responsive and friendly! Can’t wait to stay here again!

Our stay at this cottage was absolutely perfect! The lake view was stunning, and we loved having access to the kayaks and paddle boat. It made for such fun days on the water. The home itself was spacious, spotless, and incredibly well-stocked with everything you could possibly need. Everything was labeled and thoughtfully organized, which made settling in so easy and staying here felt like a second home. There were tons of toys and puzzles to keep the kids entertained, and the comfy beds and couches made out nights so cozy and fun! There was so much to do, indoors and out. It was an experience our family will never forget. Aaron was a fantastic host! So kind, responsive, and truly welcoming. We’re already looking forward to coming back. We highly recommend this place to families, couples, solo travelers, honestly it's for anyone looking for a peaceful, fun-filled getaway. We’ll definitely be back!

Great family run resort. Perfect size and very welcoming. It’s quaint and very much has a small town feel. It was perfect for our big group of 9! Nice deck/grill/view of the lake.

Seven of us (3 adults and 4 teens- ages 12-18) enjoyed our stay over Labor Day weekend! Melissa stocked the house with games (indoor and outdoor!), linens, everything you’d need in a kitchen, and even firewood for the fire pit! We were delighted to find 4 kayaks with every size life vest we could possibly need in the garage. And the kids LOVED having a bunkhouse to themselves. We spent the weekend fishing, playing games, cooking, and enjoying a private channel off the lake. It was ideal! Melissa responded incredibly quickly and was kind and thoughtful from start to finish.

Perfect home for a long weekend that included a Notre Dame football game. The home had plenty of space for two couples and the kitchen is beautifully updated. The house is exactly like the photos and even better in person. Lovely large yard, plenty of seating out by the lake, kayaks for use, a firepit; a great vacation home. Bonus on an ND football weekend: much less traffic coming from north of campus, easy drive getting in and out of campus.

This was such a nice weekend with our family. The cottage was stocked with everything you need! The lake is super quiet and pretty private! The place was clean and remodeled in the inside. Our first time booking an AIRBNB so we were nervous but we are so glad we did!

Our family of 5 had a great stay at Gary’s place. The lake, the pontoon, paddle boards and pedal boat were used daily. It is private and quiet. There are plenty of life vests and even some large inner tubes you can take out on the water. The floating dock and lily pad were covered in goose poop while we were there so we didn’t use them. The house was comfortable and had more amenities than most air BNBs we’ve stayed at. Our favorite spot (besides being on the water) was drinking coffee and reading on the covered porch! Would recommend to families!!

This is a GREAT place to kickback and relax on the lake. We were attending several functions and this provided a base of operations. Gregory FULLY described both the good and the challenges of being here. We are 2 couples late 70’s and late 80’s and navigated the steps he talks about just fine. You need to be aware but not afraid. I definitely would stay here again.

We really loved our stay in Coloma! There was plenty to do around town and the surrounding towns. We enjoyed wineries, sitting down by Little Paw Paw Lake, some great meals and a stunning sunset over Lake Michigan. Liz was so helpful and responsive. We definitely hope to return!

if you're looking for a cabin in the woods this does not disappoint. Beautiful! Kelly is very responsive to questions.

Heidy gave us a wonderful stay. It was worth every penny. If I was in the area I would stay again and again.

We had a very relaxing time in the quiet, private, beautiful location. We enjoyed the hot tub, huge walk in shower, fire place, kitchen, fire pit in back, hiking trails, canoing in the pond , and the local shops and restaurants. it was very clean and close to town. We had almost no cell signal - but it was good to unplug and connect with each other! But good to be aware of.

The cabin was clean and cozy. Had everything we needed for our stay. Appreciated the ability to control the heat in each room. Although Mother Nature didn't cooperate during our stay (cool, rain, cool), we enjoyed the time away. So VERY quiet!!! A number of cabins/houses on the lane, but we definitely had plenty of 'breathing room' - not right up side by side of each other....I like to have some space. We probably didn't see a dozen people the day and half we were there, and didn't hear another voice the entire time. So very peaceful and quiet and relaxing!!!! Just the birds and other sounds of nature. My grandson and I really enjoyed playing cornhole - on the screened in porch (since it was cool and rainy, grass/ground wet after rain did stop in afternoon). And, we had so many laughs taking turns asking each other questions from the Family Feud game available at the cabin. Christine was very responsive to the questions I had after I reserved the place.

A go to retreat for my family of four. Fun events in the resort during holiday weekend - nice live music on an early summer night. Place was the perfect spot in front of playground and short walk to beach.

If you are looking for a beautiful and private and peaceful retreat, look no further! David’s place is all of the above and more! This was our second stay! The little lake ( with boat and kayak) is always fun. The house is spotless and we are welcome with cookies! Thank you so much again!

This property is beautiful and quite. It's a great place to get away from the hustle back home and disconnect from all the technology (although there are TVs in two of the bedrooms and good wifi if you need it). And the resturant recommendation that was about 10 minutes away was great food! I'd definitely recommend this if you need some time to just be with friends/family, play games, enjoy the lake and nature!

we had an amazing time! The lake and wildlife were beautiful. The house is spacious and all the furniture was very comfortable. It was extremely clean. They had a ton of amenities we weren't expecting, like a griddle and spices. The only flaw in the whole trip was we had a 1am alarm go off and we couldn't contact anyone. Luckily we guessed the code! No one called us for a follow up the next day either. But other than that, it was the perfect trip!
