Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Mount Vernon

This was our 2nd stay at The Red Rose which happens to be in my hometown, though I moved away years ago. I return to Rumford once or twice per year to visit family and friends and with a shortage of places to say, I came upon The Red Rose here on airbnb and was totally impressed with the reviews/photos and booked our first stay 2 years ago. What a cozy/welcoming place to be. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay again, felt right at home, and will return. We have/will always highly recommend The Red Rose. Thank you both and Happy Holidays!

For Arrival: Put the written instructions together with the photos, and you'll make sense of the tricky-to-find parking spot. (This is not to say that parking is a "problem." I have a lifetime of poring over maps, studying geography, and can easily rely overmuch on the unthinking ways a GPS-led orientation.) But, in approaching Emma's place, it's important to read the instructions line by line, put those instructions together with the images. Be patient, let their words guide you. It's actually kinda fun -- like a scavenger hunt -- once you feel their rhythm. The Space: I awed in every single room. The cleanliness and freshness, surrounded by a score of other living things--oh those plants!--and the sweet, thoughtful use of space. I felt right at home. It is a loved space. I so enjoyed cooking in the kitchen. Reading in the front room. Studying in bed. Mornings spent looking north-by-northeast to the ridge yonder. What a value. I am looking for another reason to go up that way.

We cannot thank Steve enough. We were in town for a family event and Steve was very accommodating. I work from home and Wi-Fi was wonderful, the space was quiet and cozy. Beautiful back area with view of the river and we even had time to do a few hikes around the area. This will be our go to spot when in town visiting family. Thank you!

We’ve stayed at Kent’s property several times and it is always a wonderful respite from the hustle-bustle of life. Staying in such a beautiful home only minutes away from my son and family is an extra benefit to staying with Kent who also lives very close. There’s really no need for us to look into any other Airbnb. This has it all!

This was by far one of the cleanest, coziest, and peaceful places I have stayed. The kitchen was well equipped. Beautifully decorated. I felt at home. Definitely worth the price paid and I will be booking again with Audray.

Bev and Tim are wonderful hosts! They went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. Bev is super responsive and made sure our stay was comfortable, while Tim kindly answered any questions we had about the area. They even offered us several outdoor gears for rent, which was incredibly helpful. The kitchen was well-equipped with all the necessities, making our stay feel like a home away from home. Their place is quiet and beautiful, and we were fortunate to witness a beautiful night sky full of stars during our stay, even catching sight of several shooting stars. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a hassle-free and welcoming accommodation experience :)

We really enjoyed our stay! The place was nicely renovated, clean, with new appliances and amenities. The host was very responsive when we had an issue with the grill and sent their property manager over to fix it the next morning. Highly recommend

10/10 recommend!! This place is everything you'd want in a home away from home. It's adorably decorated, had everything we needed to cook, and has the most stunning view. Samantha is a wonderful and gracious host. It's even cuter and more charming than the photos show. It's quiet, quant, and has everything you need to be comfy. Strong WiFi and comfortable beds. The upstairs bath with a view was my favorite! We will definitely be back!

Robert was a gracious and kind host. The accommodations were just as advertised. He was very responsive to my emails, and I had a delightful time talking with him. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to stay in the area.

We loved our stay here at The Barn! We were welcomed by the friendliest corgi and beautiful views of Maine. The place was cozy and perfect for our little Thanksgiving in Maine. Thank you for a fun stay!

This is our second time staying at this rental and it was consistent with my experience the first time. The host are very thoughtful and responsive. Even one morning when we woke up and it had snowed they had come over and shoveled around our car and driveway before we even woke up. The conditions of the house are also very pristine. Always clean and always fresh new linens. We also found that they do slight updates each time we’ve come ensuring that the house always feels freshened up. The host also sent lots of recommendations for restaurants and is constantly checking in to make sure that we are not having any issues. I am definitely feeling like I would return to the house again if I was to come back to Maine.

Brett was an amazing host for a beautiful place! The view was gorgeous, and Woodstock was serene. A short drive to Bethel gave us an awesome museum and cafe adventure. The hot tub was a huge plus after a day in the snow. Would definitely come stay again!

We had a great time at Michael’s place and he was even kind enough to let us use the fire place during the evenings. He even went above and beyond by sending out an extremely detailed instructions for check in and check out. Would recommend this place for those looking to get away from it all!!

This a beautiful spot! Tucked away from the roads and very quiet. The private lake access is great and the views are beautiful. So thankful we found this place!

Warren and I were very pleased with our stay at The Lodge. Nancy communicated very well before and during our visit, and she went above and beyond in helpfulness once we arrived. She and her husband were extremely kind hosts. They were friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Our accommodations were so pleasant, as well, and we felt right at home. And Nancy's blueberry muffins were scrumptious! We'll definitely make a return visit to Nancy's place whenever we visit Maine again.

Sam made my visit to Maine that much better! Beautiful home and property not too far from lots of fun things to do. Everything is exactly as described in the listing, clean, ready to go before you arrive. At one point I had some concerns about the weather and my car not having the necessary equipment for the cold, and Sam was more than kind enough to let me borrow an ice scraper and broom for the chilly mornings I had stayed to ensure I’d have a safer drive. Well worth the money I paid.

Great price and location! The condo worked out perfectly for the weekend for my girlfriend and me. Very close to the Sunday River base lodges and local restaurants. We didn't use the kitchen so I can't speak to that, but it looked very clean and well stocked. Would definitely stay again.

Diane the host was very attentive. We enjoyed our stay and even increased our stay duration. Definitely recommend this for anyone.

Lovely, clean apartment with a terrific location! We highly recommend and hope to return soon--maybe even for Pumpkinfest again next year. Thank you especially for the extra blankets, that was such a kind gesture.

I used to stay at a camp on this lake as a kid so it was nice to look out the patio door and see the familiar hillside on the opposite side of the lake. I was even treated to a visit from a pair of loons, and the morning was very peaceful with a lone fisherman casting from the neighboring dock. Be aware that you're likely to hear traffic noise or noise from adjacent units, but it didn't interfere with my stay. The place was clean and well stocked. I'm only sorry that it wasn't cool enough to light a fire in the woodstove.
