Lake houses in Monroe Lake

We’d had a last-minute cancellation at another Airbnb in Kentucky due to flooding in that area. We immediately looked for a new place that we could escape to for some nature & unplugged time, and stumbled upon Garrett & Ewan’s listing—luckily a short drive for us. It is a gem of a find! Cozy home in a private setting with trails and on the water—hot tub was a bonus! We loved sitting around the fire pit, too. The loft was perfect for our teenagers. The rockers on the porch were our go-to in the morning for coffee. We commented several times on how it would be even better to stay in the summer—lots to do outdoors for all. The beds were a bit firm but that is just a personal preference. The house was clean & comfortable—definitely made for a great escape from the busyness of life. Garrett & Ewa were incredibly responsive and quick to answer any questions we had. We were grateful they accepted a last minute booking! It was just the type of R&R our family needed.☺️

I loved Jenny's place. We didn't have a lot of communication because we didn't need it. She explained everything I needed to know in a few emails. The place was easy to get into and the checkout requirements were terrific and easy. The rugged beauty of the place took me by surprise. In a good way. My dog thought she was in heaven. Lots of space inside and out. We will go back again, I'm sure.

It was perfect for me and my bridesmaids before my wedding. Cameron checked in to make sure we didn’t have any questions or problems. I would definitely use the space again if I was in the area.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our weekend stay in this new cabin! It is exactly as pictured, comfortable, cute, clean and bright with so many well thought out amenities! We found the cabin easily and check in was straight forward. The location is quiet and peaceful. The kitchen was perfectly stocked for easy prep of our meals! We slept great in the main floor room on the comfortable mattress with black out curtains. It was a rainy weekend, but we still enjoyed the porch swing on the covered porch and the comfy sofa for lounging and watching march madness basketball! We really appreciated the touches including hand soap, dish soap, dishwasher pods, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, coffee/creamer, & paper towels, as well as instructions throughout that made settling in so easy! Brad was extremely friendly and communicative, and had great local recommendations for activities and dining. The location is great for many outdoor activities. We highly recommend this cabin!

Malachi's place is an oasis in the Brown County area. He was very accommodating, friendly, and attentive. I can't wait to visit the area again and hopefully spend more time hanging out at his place, it was as much of an attraction as the area itself.

Cheryl’s Lake Lemon Cottage was a great get-a-way. The cottage was beautiful with plenty of lounging areas and it was decorated so nice. The fresh flowers and rosemary were a sweet touch! There is also a nice view of the lake from the cottage. We had a boat so the dock was very accommodating and Cheryl was very helpful in making sure our trailer was parked safely. The fishing wasn’t good because of murky water and high winds but it was still nice to get out and enjoy the lake on the boat… the beautiful cottage more than made up for the lack of fish :) Thank you! We traveled here with a young family and couldn’t be more pleased. Close enough to Nashville to venture to cute shops and restaurants and easy to spend the day at Brown County State Park. We had a rainy day and everyone was perfectly content just playing games at the cabin. Very spacious and comfortable. Just what we were looking for!

This place was incredible. Beautiful landscape to admire and explore during the day and great amenities to play with at night. The host responded to my questions immediately and was very nice. I can’t think of one bad thing to say about this place or host.

Wonderful out-of-the-way country location. Beautiful, scenic property with well equipped accommodations in aged farmhouse. The house had plenty of space for 11 of us to spread out yet also be together in common areas. There is some minor maintenance to be done in the house, but nothing that hampers enjoyment of the overall property and lodging experience. We hope to plan another stay with Tonya during warmer seasons to experience this fun farm in all its splendor. Thanks, Tonya!

Excellent place, very clean, very nice! Place has enough parking for a couple trucks and boats, just minutes from the lake!

don't hesitate to book. weather ruined most activities. obviously not fault of owner. would be wonderful place with warm weather and no rain. they have everything you need and then some.

Libby's house was great for a weekend getaway. She helped us work through a couple of snags and was very responsive in helping. The Porthole Inn was a great place for live music and food! short drive in to Bloomington. The Butler winery was down the road and an amazing recommendation!

Fantastic private home with an amazing view.

We spent an absolutely amazing three days here and it was even better than expected. Everything was very clean and comfortable, and the views of the lake are everywhere. We had a phenomenal time and now we’re contemplating on coming back every year!

Had a fun weekend here with friends. The location is close enough to gas stations and other places to quickly grab whatever you might need, but still feels remote. Lots of space on the property but unfortunately due to heavy rain we couldn't use it to its full potential. Would recommend if you're looking to enjoy nature while still being close to Bloomington (about 15 minutes from campus.)

Privately located and large home & property. Located on the river and provide a nice view. The property had plenty of walking and hiking areas available. It was convenient back into town. A nice place to stay and accommodate our large group.

Lindsey’s Cabin was the perfect stay for our girls weekend getaway! She was so thoughtful and left us a little welcome gift for the weekend, that was the cherry on top to an already amazing stay. The place was clean, exactly as described, comfy and cozy, and her communication was quick, thorough, and friendly. Would recommend to anyone!!

I was in town with my daughter and best friend for the eras tour. We wanted to book outside of the city so we could come back to quiet and have a relaxing place to just enjoy our weekend getaway. Curt’s place was the perfect spot for this.

I am a solo full-time wheelchair user traveling with a Great Dane. It's hard to find a place that is accessible and pet-friendly. I was there for over a month during some winter weather. The host was concerned about my safety and accessibility by making sure snow and ice was clear. The place itself was clean, recently updated, and comfortable. Two nice large TVs were provided and I used the Wifi and it worked well. It is on a large grassy lot set back from the road. There was a lot of room for my dog to sniff around and get some exercise. Guests should be aware that there is a small refrigerator. I had no problem with it, but if you have a need for a large refrigerator or freezer be aware that this might be a problem for you. There is a nice big microwave and toaster, but no traditional cooktop or oven. I felt very safe here. It's pretty close to campus and there is a large parking area that is well off street. Host was great at communication and answered questions quickly.

We had a wonderful stay at Shila’s home. Would definitely return & recommend to those looking for somewhere to stay in Bloomington.
