Vibe Out on the deck at The Pinto Corral

JoanieRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We enjoyed our time in Randi's cute and homey cottage. The decor was very cozy and modern boho with attention to detail for the little items included in her decor. Made the home very cozy and enjoyable. Randi was very friendly and checked in on us making sure we had everything we needed and that things were going well and also letting us know she was available for any questions. We enjoyed ourselves very much.

Contemporary desert retreat in Joshua Tree

EvanRating, 5 stars2 months ago
This place was truly wonderful! Exactly as described in listing, beautiful and peaceful. It's far enough off the 29 that it truly feels like another planet, sunset/sunrise were stunning. Hosts were very kind and communicative. I was evacuating the fires in LA and they were flexible and upfront about the power shut offs in the valley. Good people!

The Jungle Dome: Hilltop Hot Tub, 360 Views

XiaokeRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Absolutely a stunning place to stay as a base to explore the palm desert area. We are a group of 6 adults and felt the space is very roomy. The furnishings are beautiful yet functional, the outdoor area is super nice to do yoga in the morning or enjoying hot tub in the evening. The hosts are very responsive to all our inquiries and needs. Would love to stay again in the future if we come back to the region.

Mojave Sands - Standard

LindseyRating, 5 stars2 months ago
We came up for a couple nights and stayed an extra night! The place is very well thought out, easy to access and close to all areas one would like to explore. The owner is super cool, and she’s very hospitable. We loved our stay here, we didn’t want to leave. We stayed in a single room, that didn’t have a kitchen - however we brought a cooler, used the fridge and used the grill everyday to make meals. The coffee service was great :) The outdoor space is nice to enjoy, there are water details around the space that are very peaceful - even a koi pond! We hopefully will be back

Very clean, comfortable, and close to Joshua Tree National Park. Only bummer was that the hot tub was broken and we were really looking forward to using it, but otherwise was great for what we needed!

Has an amazing stay to celebrate my mom’s birthday with the family. We were even allowed to bring our german shepherd dog and he had a lot of fun in the wide spacious backyard🐶 Host was very responsive when we had any questions, place was clean, and there was so much to do at the home (jacuzzi, pool table, foosball table, board games). Definitely would stay again! 5 stars! ⭐️

Desert & Views | Hot Tub | Pet-Friendly | EV chrgr

CristenRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We just came home from a week at Jaspreet's place - 4 adults and 2 teens. The house had plenty of room to spread out, with a great living space and dining area that easily fit our group without feeling at all crowded. We enjoyed using the outdoor space as well - a nice seating area, hot tub, propane firepit and propane bbq. Something that was really nice that we haven't always experienced at rentals - the kitchen was big and had empty cupboards where we could put away our groceries. Often we have to leave all our food on the table or counter at a place because there's no extra cupboard space. Same in the bathrooms and bedrooms - it was nice to be able to stay tidy by putting our things away somewhere. We really enjoyed the feeling of being out in the desert (rather than smack in the middle of a neighborhood) - the sunrises and sunsets were stunning. We would definitely stay again!!

Your guide to Joshua Tree

Welcome to Joshua Tree

The community of Joshua Tree rises out of the Mojave Desert in stark contrast to Palm Springs, the nearby city known for mid-century estates and plentiful swimming pools. Joshua Tree residents have instead embraced a rugged, cheerfully weird vision of the West. Iconoclasts, artists, musicians, and outdoorsy types have all carved out a place for themselves in this arid landscape, where an abbreviated downtown is home to shops selling vintage wares, handicrafts, crystals, and herbs. Many use the town as a base for exploring nearby Joshua Tree National Park, whose nearly 800,000 acres lure hikers, rock-climbers, and stargazers with an magical landscape marked by vast plains, mountains, rock formations, cacti, and the unusual trees for which this place is named.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Joshua Tree

Spring and fall are the most popular times to visit Joshua Tree, when temperatures are mild and hospitable to hiking and other outdoor activities. (Be sure to pack layers for these seasons, as temperatures can drop dramatically when the sun goes down.) In March and April, dazzlingly colored wildflowers bloom in the national park. During the summer, temperatures can soar into the hundreds Fahrenheit; in the winter the days are cool and the nights are freezing, with snow at higher elevations. In May and October the town hosts the Joshua Tree Music Festival, which features up-and-coming artists, many of whom have gone on to major careers.

Top things to do in Joshua Tree

Joshua Tree National Park

This park is named for the goofy-looking Joshua tree, which can grow to 40 feet high and sprouts a multitude of wiggly branches topped with unruly crowns of spiky leaves. This sprawling scenic wonderland has lots of activities to offer, including scenic hikes, rock climbing, birdwatching, and horseback riding. Thanks to a dearth of artificial light, it’s also an ideal place for stargazing, and depending on the time of year, you can see the Milky Way, the Andromeda Galaxy, and, in August, the Perseid meteor shower.

Integratron

Have you even visited the desert if you haven’t tapped into an otherworldly energy vortex? The creator of the Integratron, a circa-1954 wooden dome that looks like a grounded spaceship, claimed the design was based in part on telepathic communications from space aliens and centered his portal on a powerful geomagnetic vortex. Regardless of whether you believe in the original intention behind the Integratron, you can’t deny the dome is wildly conducive to beautiful, clear acoustics. Those perfect acoustics draw hundreds of visitors weekly for restorative sound baths performed live on 20 quartz crystal singing bowls.

World Famous Crochet Museum

Located in Joshua Tree’s teensy downtown, the World Famous Crochet Museum is installed inside a slime-green former photo-processing booth. Its walls are jammed floor to ceiling with crochet critters and objects that the museum’s creator has collected over the years, including yarn cakes, poodles, and alligators. Drink in the absurdity, then snag a souvenir from her adjacent studio, where she sells artworks and T-shirts screenprinted with her original designs.
