Amazing spot to stay near Gion. Yuka & Taka are very welcoming & responsive, and the accommodations themselves were great! Would stay here again.

Yukiko’s place was just as described, and the photos accurately reflect the listing. One thing to keep in mind is that the space is quite compact—doorways, stairs, and walkways are narrow, so we found ourselves bumping elbows and knees occasionally. That said, I really loved the traditional aesthetic with subtle modern touches: tatami floors upstairs, sliding paper doors, lots of wood, and a cozy foot heater under the table. Just a heads-up for anyone with a sensitive nose—it does carry a bit of that classic “old house” smell. Location wise it is situated in a quiet neighborhood near Nijo Station (~10 min walk) and there are other Airbnb units that Yukiko has next door. So if you have a group of 4 or more, you could potentially book the unit next door too. Lastly, the in-house 2-in-1 washer and dryer machine was super handy! The machine was also labeled with English translation for easy operation. Would definitely consider booking again if we are in the area :)

Nice house in a quiet neighborhood. Location gives fantastic access to the city through the Green Line (Karasuma). Easy to access from Kyoto Station shinkansen. Less than ten minute walk to the Aeon Mall. All facilities in working order. The washing machine is very useful in extending the usefulness of your carried clothing.

Perfect place to stay, very clean, very warm and great location near the stations. The samurai and other Japanese decorations were epic too. Highly recommended

We had a wonderful stay at the Cozy Cottage. The house was very clean and spacious. For us, the best part was the location. It truly felt like we were locals living in the community where Cozy Cottage is located. All of the staff were also very friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful time, and the stay definitely made our time in Kyoto extra special. I would recommend this stay to anyone looking for a bit of a slower pace in Kyoto.

If you’re looking to experience authentic Kyoto living, this is a wonderful place to stay. Nestled in a quiet, hilly neighborhood, the house offers a peaceful and local atmosphere away from the crowds. While it requires a short uphill walk to reach the property and some distance to the nearest train station, the charm and tranquility of the area make it well worth it. Overall, it’s excellent value for money and a great choice for a memorable stay in Kyoto.

We had a fantastic stay at this place! We were a family of 4, and it accommodated us perfectly. The beds were comfortable and cozy. The location was ideal for us—close to many things, but in a peaceful part of it. The place is tastefully decorated. Having access to a washing machine with dryer was so helpful! And most of all, our host was so kind, helpful, and friendly! Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!

Katsuya's home is absolutely gorgeous. Every detail is so well considered. He has left a biography of the artists whose work is in the house, and a brief history of the renovation as well, which I found fascinating. Nothing is overlooked. A wonderful experience.

Very beautiful house

This house is located in a fantastic location, only a 6 min walk from the nearest station. Shiho, the host, was very accommodating. She greeted us as we arrived and gave a house tour. She also asked how we were going and made sure everyone was okay, something that is rarely done for Airbnb hosts. Everything in the house was clean and organised, the beds and futons were comfortable, and overall we had a great time staying at this place.

The lodge is stunning! I really enjoyed my stay here, if you've got a car I highly recommend it. Victoria is a great host, always happy to help and very quick to respond.

It was very nice yall ! This was my first time abroad and they really made it easy with all the instructions they had. The location was really nice as well it was very close to a station and shops and a shopping mall yet the area of the house was quiet. The pictures match everything and the host responded very fast to any question I had.

It was nice to be able to experience a traditional Japanese house. It was a good light to have a barbecue while looking at Mt. Fuji in the parking lot. The house was old but the linens were clean and fluffy. If you want to have a barbecue, it's good to prepare a table and a mat chair. The barbecue while looking at Mt. Fuji is the best!

Flawless accommodation. Authentic and traditional. Very clean. Comfortable futons to sleep on. View from the bathroom to the beautiful garden. The hostess kindly left a bottle of fruit wine in the fridge. Thank you for this wonderful place.

Yuta was a great host and was very helpful. His home is something special since it is a beautiful, traditional house that is over a hundred years old, making it an experience instead of just a place to sleep. We found it comfortable and exceptionally clean. Yuta provided us breakfast, which was delicious. The location is an easy bus ride to go see Nara's famous deer.

I highly recommend staying at the Golden Fish House, there are many small shops nearby, you can ride a bike to explore.There is a beautiful courtyard and a stylish porcelain washbasin.Breakfast was delicious.The staff are all very friendly.It's quiet at night and the quilt is comfortable.Had a lovely day.

Together with her mother Kauri-san and beautiful WabiSuke, they made us feel at home and gave us a little experience of living within a Japanese Community which is what we were seeking. From inviting us to a local Sushi restaurant to allowing us to share her Tea Ceremony class, Chieri has made our short stay truly memorable.
