Vacation rentals with lake access in James River

Our weekend was amazing. The main floor is large and very open and made it easy for our group to hang out and eat together. The lake is literally just 25 feet or so away from the house. It is February, so we were mostly inside, but quite a few of our high schoolers did jump in the water a few times for a polar plunge. Great value in the off season, great house, and great hosts.

Jessi’s Air bnb exceeded my expectations! The house its self was beautiful, and the inside was very well kept up! The back deck made the perfect lounging area, as well as the boat dock! We enjoyed lots of sunshine at the dock! Jessi’s communication was amazing, checking in on us, keeping up to date and her response time made questions answerable within minutes! The location of the house is 15 minutes from restaurants which made it very accessible! The house is perched back into a cove, which made it very peaceful and relaxing! I would highly recommend Jessi’s air bnb!

Peaceful Lakeside Retreat – Perfect for a Quiet Getaway: We had an amazing stay at this beautiful lakefront house. The view from the balcony overlooking the lake was incredibly peaceful and the perfect spot to relax. The home was spotless, quiet, and felt very cozy. The kitchen looked recently renovated and had everything we needed to cook and enjoy our time there. We didn’t need to contact the host during our stay because the check-in and check-out process was super smooth and everything was clearly laid out. The property also includes a fire pit and canoes—which we didn’t get to use this time, but definitely will on our next visit! The house is about a 20-minute drive from restaurants and grocery stores, but with a car, it was no problem at all. If you're looking for a quiet, cozy, peaceful, and scenic getaway, this is the perfect place. Highly recommend!

We had an amazing time at the cabin! The lakeside view was absolutely stunning—waking up to the serene water and watching the sunset was a highlight of our trip. The cabin was cozy, well-equipped, and had everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. Whether we were soaking in the hot tub, unwinding by the firepit, or simply enjoying the peaceful surroundings, it was the perfect escape. The host Eric was fantastic—super friendly, quick to respond, and made everything so easy. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a fun and rejuvenating retreat.

This property is great. The house is comfortable, clean and even more appealing IRL than in photos. We spent most of our time on the dock fishing or out in the kayaks exploring the lake. There are sunfish, bass and catfish in abundance right off the dock. We also enjoyed watching osprey, Bald Eagles and Great Blue Herons catching fish right beside us. The fire pit is wonderful. Overall, I would highly recommend this place for a beautiful and peaceful place to enjoy Lake Anna.

This house is great! The architecture of the home is beautiful and well-preserved. There is a wonderful blend of indoor and outdoor spaces that allow you to enjoy the beautiful view of the lake. The house is well-stocked-the kitchen has everything needed to cook and enjoy the space, there are books and games as well as lots of outdoor activities. Marc was very communicative and helpful as we made our weekend plans. Thank you for a wonderful, relaxing weekend!

Dave is always very helpful when it comes to reservations and checking out. He is always a text/call away. He has never left me unsure of anything. The home is always clean and well stocked. I look forward to my next stay

We all enjoyed our stay at the lakehouse from young to old and very particular teens in between! We loved the bedroom setup with the built in beds upstairs and the spacious and comfortable rooms to relax in. The open concept kitchen and dining and living room was great with a beautiful view of the property outside. We had tons of fun in the game room and had some great family pool time. The hot tub was a real treat and felt very relaxing. The teens loved the kayaks and took them out to explore the lake for a few hours. The area is very quiet and serene and the people in town and at the nearby state park are very friendly. All in all this was very satisfying as a family winter vacation and the kids are already asking when we will be going back! Thanks for sharing this amazing property with us.

I had the best time staying here- I was staying here for a work trip, but I hope to be back to spend more time on the lake in this cozy and comfortable apartment. I usually have a hard time sleeping, but was able to peacfully sleep in this quiet, safe, and clean apartment with such a comfy bed. I felt right at home. Mickey and Ann were lovely, friendly folks who were gracious and loaned me a kayak when I had a free afternoon. Will definitely book again when I'm back in the Clarksville area!

Would highly recommend for a quiet, relaxing weekend. This was a repeat stay, and everything was just as nice as the last time. Quick communication with Gwendolyn was appreciated, and everything we needed was available or offered.

Staying with Mr Jane was a pleasure. The location was perfect, the apartment was cozy and spotless. The place was well-equipped and the beds were surprisingly comfortable. This is a peaceful downstairs apartment with private entry and beautiful backyard with swimming pool. Mrs Jane was always available to answer our questions. unforgettable experience! My sister and neice and I stayed at Key To Stay's condo for 2 nights in February. I had previously stayed at that same condo in November. I originally gave this condo a great review, which is why we rented it again. This visit had a few maintenance issues, but they were eventually resolved and Key To Stay made sure to reach out to me personally to make sure we were satisfied. I do appreciate their commitment to making sure they improve the guest experience. I will definitely be staying here again after the wonderful customer service. The location is beautiful, the lake view can't be beat. The area has some great places to eat also.

The Farm Stay studio was perfect! It was beautiful and bright and cozy, with gorgeous views of the farm and pond. The use of space was incredible with every amenity needed available. Great shower as well! Betty sent us so many ideas of places to see in the area and was a wonderful host! We hope to stay again when we return to the area.

We had a wonderful stay. The place was nice and clean and fully stocked. Sean had very clear instructions. This was my first time in Richmond and this was a perfect spot to walk to many local restaurants and activities. Looking forward to visiting again. Linda & Bill

Joyce has done a phenomenal job with this lake house. Everything has been thought through. The house actually looks even better than the pictures. You can tell a lot of thought went into the decor. And it is super clean. The kitchen is fully stacked with everything you would need ant home or away. Ample seasoned fire wood and starter sticks makes using their MASSIVE fire pit a breeze. The best part is she gives you access to both of their docks and you will not have to take your boat or kayak out of the water once. We kayak fished Johnson’s and Lacey’s with ease from her house. 100% coming back to stay again.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful home! It was the perfect place for our anniversary weekend getaway and also for celebrating my nephew’s 3rd birthday. The house was easy to find and access, and the host went above and beyond by putting up a few birthday decorations and even leaving a sweet little gift for the birthday boy—such a thoughtful touch! The home was very clean, cozy, and well-stocked with everything you could need for a short or long stay. It has two spacious bedrooms with easy access to the living room, bathroom, and kitchen. The views of the lake were absolutely beautiful, and we really enjoyed having access to the dock—it was great for swimming, fishing, and just relaxing by the water. The host was very helpful, provided clear instructions, and gave us great recommendations for local dining and activities. Communication was quick and friendly. We felt right at home and would absolutely stay here again when we’re back in the area!

My partner and I had the most relaxing weekend getaway at this beautiful A-frame cabin! The setting is peaceful and surrounded by trees, which made it feel like a true escape from the hustle and bustle. The cabin itself is gorgeous—thoughtfully designed, clean, and cozy, with lovely touches that made it feel like home. One of our favorite parts of the stay was spending time at the private dock on the nearby lake. It was such a peaceful spot to sit, talk, and take in the scenery—especially in the morning with our coffee! The quiet, natural surroundings made everything feel calm and restorative. The host was wonderful: kind, responsive, and made everything seamless from start to finish. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a restful retreat. We’d absolutely love to return!

I loved the place, beautiful country setting free from neighbors. House was well maintained. Unfortunately the wife was skeptical of the laundry facilities in basement, clean and dry but she isn't a fan of unfinished spaces. Overall place was clean and inviting, and suited our needs.

Beautiful historic home on water. Well appointed and well stocked. Peaceful and very relaxing. Whisper clean and wonderful outside porches. We did not have the time to take advantage of the kayaks/fishing etc - but would have if we had the time and so nice to have the option! Parking next to the house was too tight for us, but we found parking across the street on the side street to be very convenient, permissible and safe. Linda was so responsive to all our inquiries. We loved our stay.

This was our second stay with Bob and Lolly in Tall Timbers, and it did not disappoint! Immersed in books and history, this quaint cottage was the perfect getaway. We are looking forward to our next visit!

The perfect spot for our Winter getaway. A beautiful setting and a well preserved colonial era cabin, perfect for exploring such an historic part of our Country. Quaint local restaurants, friendly people and a country setting handy to the lower tidewater Virginia. The icing on the cake was the fireplace for cozy evenings reading a good book.
