Puuepa is the site of the ancient Mo'okini Heiau (temple) whose origins date back 1,500 years ago to the first human migration from the Marquesas. Decades later, St. Damien became the pastor of Hawi Sacred Heart Catholic Church before taking on his destined work of charity at the Kalaupapa Leper Colony on Molokai. Welcome House (Hale e Komo Mai) A corner of heaven

This lovely hale li'i (tiny house in Hawaiian) is a perfect private little get away place! The place is fully furnished and has a kitchenette complete with a single burner induction cooktop, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, blender and toaster. There is no oven but the large lanai (veranda) is fully equipped for barbecueing and lounging around! The coup de grâce is the bathroom shower which is very spacious with a skylight and features a custom tile mosaic mural created by the host!

Our Retreat is a labor of our love and was built as such. A getaway to relax, hike the nearby beaches, forests, and volcanoes and to simply enjoy life. Our place is a peaceful spot completely off the grid in nature. It is 8 miles to Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park. You’ll love our place because of the location, the ambiance, and the outdoor space. Our goal was to bring the outdoors in and the indoors outside. Our place is good for couples and solo adventurers.
