Located in the center of Koukaki neighborhood (one of the trendiest neighborhoods in Athens), this peaceful apartment is just minutes from Acropolis, Plaka, and Filopappou Hill.

The location is ideal-it is a 3 minute walk from the Sygrou-Fix metro stop and a 10 minute walk from the Acropolis metro stop. Down the street from the house there are many tavernas, cafes, bakeries, bars including an organic food store on the corner. There are two lively pedestrian zones nearby.

The space
This apartment has a private entrance so you can come and go as you please without disturbing anyone. While the location of the apartment is very central, the apartment itself is quiet and peaceful. The apartment is in a traditional Greek neighborhood.

The apartment is 50 meters/538 square feet. It has two main rooms (a bedroom and a living room that converts to a bedroom), a small kitchen and one bathroom.

Please also note that there is one regular bedroom and one living room that converts to a bedroom.

The sleeping options are below:
1. a classic bedroom with a double bed and a single moveable bed.
2. a front sitting room/bedroom with a sofa that converts to a double bed and a couch that converts to a single bed).

You can arrange the beds to suit your needs. There is also a small entry room that can be closed off to offer more privacy.

This apartment is ideal for couples, small families or small groups of friends.

The apartment's front window opens up like a balcony and has a view onto the street for people watching, etc. There is also small balcony behind the back bedroom.

The unit includes a washing machine.

Getting to the apartment:
From the airport, the two easiest options are a) the metro b) a taxi

Metro: The metro leaves directly across the street from the airport and costs 10 euros per person. You will take the blue line metro from the airport to Syntagma. Get off at Syntagma, change to the red line going towards “Elliniko”. Go two stops (Acropolis and Sygrou-Fix) and get off at the second stop (Sygrou-Fix). When you walk up from the metro stop, take the stairs marked “Sygrou-Drakou”. The apartment is a 3-minute walk from the Sygrou-Fix metro (walk up Drakou to Veiko, turn left on Veiko, walk to Veiko 75. The apartment is on the corner of Veiko and Tousa Mpotsari.

Taxi
If you take a taxi, it is a flat rate from the airport (40 euros) from 5:00 am to 12:00 am and 55 euros from 12:00 am to 5:00 am. Most, but not all taxi drivers speak English. Some cab drivers charge a euro or two per bag but you can confirm this before getting into the cab. There is a taxi stand directly outside the airport.

Neighborhood highlights

Koukaki is a great mix in that it is a traditional Greek neighborhood but just steps away from the tourist and historical sites. One of the best bakeries in Athens is just a 5 minute walk from the apartment (Takis Bakery at 14 Misaraliotou st.). Other restaurants/bars within walking distance to check out include:
--Σκουμπρί (Skoubri) Fish Taverna at Drakou 12: 2 minute walk
--Ρίζα Ρίζα (Riza Riza) Bar at Drakou 19: 2 minute walk
--Brettos in Plaka at Kidathineon 41 (this is the second oldest distillery in Europe and a cool stop with its colorful bottles as a backdrop): 10 minute walk
--the Wine Point at Porinou 2 in Acropolis: 8 minute walk

A nice first full day from the apartment might be:
•Go to Takis Bakery (except Sunday, they are closed) to get something for breakfast, go across the street to Coffee Dive for your coffee and then take a leisurely walk up the Dionysiou Areopagitou pedestrian walkway to the Open Air Bus. Take the 90 minute ride and return to the base of Acropolis.
•Go the Acropolis Museum
•Walk to Makrygianni pedestrian walkway or Plaka for lunch and shopping, then go up to Acropolis main site before it closes.
•For dinner/bars, etc. ask us! We are happy to provide restaurant and bar/cafe recommendations if you let us know what you are looking for. :-)
