Calderimi, a cosy, warm and renovated house in Fira

EwaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Amazing place. In the very center of Fira, but quiet. The house is a bit bigger than it looks on the pictures. Perhaps for 2 people the storage space could be bigger, especially if you stay for a few nights. As I was alone, it was perfectly enough. Place is renovated, modern but with traditional feel. It was nice to stay in a traditional home but with all modern comforts. Very comfy and big bed, large bathroom and shower with closing doors - no water spillages on the floor! Kitchenette was well equipped with some useful supplies like salt, oil, etc - even though I did not use it much. Beach towels were added bonus. Everything was really clean, I maybe would like to have some sort of mop or a broom to clean the place myself during my stay, but it wasn't really a problem and I am sure if I asked, someone would provide it to me. Aris was quick to reply, and when I could not turn the A/C on, he tended to it immediately. The place had great price/value ratio and I definitely recommend it.

Secret Garden, historic Oia home with private pool

JoRating, 5 stars1 month ago
This was an absolute gem of a place – private and peaceful, yet just moments from the hustle and bustle of Oia's main street. The garden is a particular highlight, sunny all day, with gorgeous planting and a lovely pool, and plenty of shady spots and seating options to suit everyone. The location is perfect, and we really valued being able to step away from the sunset crowds into our quiet little retreat. Mylinda was so helpful and communicative, going above and beyond to help us have an amazing trip.

AROMA CAVAS Suite with caldera view

BijanRating, 5 starstoday
I can’t say enough about Nikos. He is by far the best host we ever had. From day one he was full of info about where to go, what to do and of course the nice restaurants. The place is very nice and clean. The pool is definitely a plus but the weather was a bit cold for swimming. Lastly the airport is a 10-minute ride away. Nikos please is a must if you are visiting Santorini. Thanks for everything and the going away present🙏

Amantes Amentes - Beach House Santorini

LindaRating, 5 stars4 weeks ago
Perfect hosts, a peaceful home on a small street two minutes from Black Sands Beach and clear water. The pretty terrace to rest back from a day of visiting the island is undoubtedly a big plus. You'll find restaurants on beach street. However, I recommend a car. No worries, the house has a large parking lot that can easily contain two cars if needed. Kostas had recommended a renter to us that we did not take and with great regret. It was more expensive but a lot of car side scap on the island. Kostas also arranged our return transfers to the port. Her parents came to greet us when we arrived at the house and were there when we left too. Lovely people. I would recommend this place with my eyes closed and wish you a stay one day you won't regret it! Several Airb&b to my credit and definitely one of the best.

Aspa Caves studio, outdoor jacuzzi & caldera view!

MarleeRating, 5 stars1 week ago
The views are incredible. Can’t beat the Santorini sunset from the jacuzzi. The patio is mostly private, aside from the 1 direct neighbour. But much more private than some other rooms closer to heart of Oia, which has tons of foot traffic. It is a short walk into Oia (10-15min) to the shops and restaurants which was no problem for us. Washing machine in the room was very handy. We were on our honeymoon and the host left a bottle of wine, card, and some snacks in the fridge for us. Nice touch! Thanks for a great stay.

Iliou Villa

KristenRating, 5 stars1 week ago
This is by far my most favorite Airbnb in years. The host was extremely personable and nice. She answered a lot of my questions and I had a lot of them. The room was so comfortable and so spacious it was perfect. I’m really big on lights and she had a lot of different options to go bright or dull relaxing light. The shower was amazing. It was gigantic and the water pressure was fantastic. And if you like cats, you will love this place because they come all the time. I will say it’s not always totally quiet as you are on top of other neighbors so you will hear some things. I wish I had stayed longer. I definitely want to come back. For those of you who have Netflix with the commercials plan, it is not supported in Greece right now, so you will not be able to log into Netflix and use it. Just a heads up.

Michelangelo Beach Villa with Sea View

JulieRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
Really beautiful villa. Spectacular views at the rear looking out over the sea. Quite remote, no shops nearby but the bus stop was a 5 minute walk away. The host was so helpful and responsive, so made it very easy to get taxis around the island. The villa itself was so lovely. Exactly as the pictures. Only negative was that the sofa was a bit stained but we resolved this by sitting on one of the blankets ( noticed this had a cigarette burn). But those issues were absolutely minor in comparison to how lovely the villa and the stunning views were. Wouldn’t hesitate to return or to recommend to others.

Calderas Hug 1 (Panoramic Sea View& Prive Hot Tub)

JosephRating, 5 stars5 days ago
We had a fantastic 3 night stay at Anastasia's apartment. As many others have noted, the pictures can't do justice to the view, it's hard to beat! Thr apt itself is as described with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The cleaners come each day to freshen up bedding and towels which is a lovely touch. A big benefit of the apartment is private, especially compared to many others. Imergovli is a stunning small town between Oia and Fira. We walked into Fira in evenings for dinner, but there were options closer too. it's about a 15 min walk. The walk to Oia took about 2 hours at a comfortable pace. We recommend for the views!! Overall a perfect trip!

San Constantino Suite with outdoor heated jacuzzi

LisaRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
We would like to thank Nikol and Alex for their hospitality. This air bnb host is definitely worth its 5 stars. We stayed in the apartment for about 6 days, upon arrival Alex explained everything about the island to us. He also gave us many tips and recommendations about good restaurants, activities, boat cruises etc. We could always send him a message if we needed him or wanted advice, we really appreciated this! Our ashtray was also emptied every morning and the water in the jacuzzi was checked, this to provide us with the best quality. The apartment was cleaned and tidied every 2 days, this was also done very well! Alex even took us to the airport and Nikol had baked cupcakes that we were even allowed to enjoy. These people really make you feel like a friend of theirs. All in all, these toppers definitely deserve their 5 stars and I would recommend everyone to stay with them

I highly recommend this place for anyone looking to enjoy the beauty of Santorini to the fullest!

NK Cave House Villa

DavidRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
PROS: Amazing views of the caldera and sunsets from hot tub and deck Relax in your hot tub or private deck and soak in the amazing scenery - its surreal Quickly escape from or get to the touristy areas (shops and restaurants) CONS: Santorini is popular especially with cruise ships leading to lots of people during the day even in early October when we went. The bedroom is quiet (no voices) except you will hear the beat of music at night from the bar above (we knew about this from reviews) until midnight (at least during our stay). It is not loud but you will not have total quiet until after midnight. The refrigerator is small and there is no freezer (if you want ice) - again we knew this. The NK Cave listing is accurate with plenty of space inside and outside. Our host Antonios was terrific. He greeted us at our drop off location, showed us the place and gave us suggestions tailored to our interests. He was responsive to our inquiries, communicating promptly and effectively.

Your guide to Santorini

All About Santorini

Santorini is an 11-mile-long island in the Aegean Sea, southeast of mainland Greece, and is the largest among a group of small, volcanic islands called the Cyclades. Officially known as Thira (Thera, in ancient Greek), Santorini has been inhabited since the Bronze Age. Its 20 or so villages exist atop one of the largest calderas — volcanic craters — in the world; the eruptions throughout its history helped create the dramatic black-sand beaches across its coastline.

Evidence of Santorini’s prehistoric past is on display at the underground Akrotiri archaeological site, where you can see the intricacies of the ancient civilizations who developed multi-floored buildings and drainage systems. The ruins seen today are the result of a volcanic eruption in the 16th century BCE that covered the village in lava and preserved elaborate wall paintings, dwellings, and pottery.

Santorini’s culture is also embodied in its food and drink. Wineries stretch across the countryside, where you can try the island’s native Assyrtiko white wine. Aromas from traditionally prepared coffee fill the cobble-stone streets, brewed with Greece’s specialty briki pot and enjoyed as a social activity. Local dishes prepared with Santorini’s local white eggplant and chlorotyri goat’s-milk cheese make for a dining experience you may not find anywhere else in the world, thanks to the island’s rich volcanic soil and distinct farming.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Santorini

You will find accommodations, including Santorini villas and rural retreats, across the island. During Santorini’s comfortable, warm spring months you can make the 6-mile hike from Fira to the village of Oia and ruins of its 15th-century castle while passing blooming wildflowers like lupins and corn poppies along the way. Mild weather in the fall brings the height of the grape harvest, making it an ideal season for trying one of the nearly 20 wineries scattered across the island.

Take advantage of the hot summer months by visiting some of Santorini’s swim-friendly beaches like Perissa or Kamari Beach. The island also hosts the Santorini Jazz Festival in July and the Ifestia (volcano) Festival in August, featuring fireworks and live music shows. During the colder months, you can take a wintertime dip in the thermal hot springs on Santorini’s smaller, uninhabited island, Palea Kameni.

Top things to do in Santorini

Ancient Thera

Some of Greece’s ancient history is on display atop the mountain of Mesa Vouno, accessible by a 4.5-mile hike or a drive to the ancient city of Thera, named for the volcano that famously erupted near it thousands of years ago. Ancient Thera sits at more than 1,000 feet above sea level; once you reach the peak, you will have panoramic views of the Aegean Sea while you stand among ancient ruins, founded in the 9th century B.C.E. and inhabited until 726 A.D.

Vlychada Beach

You can experience one of Santorini’s famous black-sand beaches at Vlychada. This swim-friendly beach on the southern coast is surrounded by towering cliffs. The best time to visit Vlychada Beach is later in the day for a beachside picnic and sunset.

Megalochori

Megalochori is a village on the southwestern coast of Santorini whose white-washed walls and bell towers tower over cobblestone streets as a former defense against pirates. The village is surrounded by Santorini’s wine country, making it a great place to try some of the island’s most-loved wines like the sweet, amber-colored Vinsanto and the crisp white Assyrtiko. Megalochori also hosts classical Greek music concerts throughout the year.
